Truly, if I could give zero stars I would. This is mainly for their office staff/customer…read moreservice/booking experience. We had taken one of our children here years ago, under a previous insurance plan--no issues, covered by insurance as expected. The doctor was fine and competent, though I didn't think she was especially gentle or patient with such a young toddler at her first ever dental visit in a kids-only practice. Fast forward to now, new insurance plan, add another kid into the mix. I literally spoke with this office 3-4 times to check whether our new dental plan was accepted as in-network, what we could expect to pay for the visit, and to confirm date, time, location, etc. I spoke with two separate people from the practice. I confirmed with them that our plan WAS IN-NETWORK with this office, and that some or all of the basic visits would be covered under that accepted plan. So we get there day of--my oldest is extremely stressed out and scared about the visit, I fill out the basic paperwork, and literally AS WE ARE ABOUT TO WALK INTO THE EXAM ROOM we're told our plan is: Not accepted Not in-network with them Won't be covered at any percentage They then confidently ask if we'd like to just pay for the visits out of pocket, which would be nearly $300 combined. Why the hell would I have dental coverage for my family if I wanted to pay $300 every time they need an appointment? The front office then disputes whether I confirmed these details or spoke to them at all, suggesting I may have called the wrong number altogether. Then how could you possibly have the 2 scheduled appointments on your calendar for my kids??? Unreal. I will never go back to this practice with my family. It's a shame, because we previously liked their office location and my kids enjoyed their many toys and games. But unfortunately they're either so inept and poorly run they can't properly check whether a dental plan is accepted prior to you stepping foot with everyone into their practice, or they are just disingenuous and running a scheme to bring you in, then tell you you're out of network to try and force you to pay a ridiculous amount out of pocket for what should be a routine and 100% covered exam and cleaning.

Since their next dental checkup was up, I wanted to opt for a dentist who specializes in only children and after doing some research, I decided on this place and I'm so glad I did...I took my kids here for the 2nd time yesterday and the experience could not have been better! The first time, my son had his teeth cleaned/examined and surprisingly, he did not complain. Doc was very attentive, friendly, professional and took her time to explain everything to me. The 2nd time, my son had a few fillings done, which only took about 30 minutes and my daughter had her teeth cleaned with no crying/screaming at all. Dr. Sara Seo was truly amazing...she talked, sang, cleaned, and gave her lots of stickers, my daughter was smiling the whole time! At the end, she even received a pink goody bag and a token to redeem her prize. The receptionist was very friendly and nice as well. She takes a picture of every patient so they can remember their faces. The waiting area is everything with iPads, toys, books, chalk/magnet board, water & coffee. The whole office was also very clean and organized. My kids had a pleasant experience here and yours will too...I highly recommend this place to anyone!

I was initially very hopeful about this dental office after seeing so many positive reviews,…read moreespecially because I was looking for a good dentist for my child. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. During my second visit for a procedure, I was asked to pay more than $100 for a copay. I contacted my insurance company and was told that I should not have had a copay for the service. When I explained this to the front desk, instead of helping me resolve the issue, they canceled my child's appointment right in front of me and told me, in a very aggressive manner, that I could leave. My child was in pain, and as a parent, my priority was simply getting the care my child needed. I decided to take my child to another dentist for a second opinion. The new dentist requested the X-rays from this office. Despite making several requests, I am still waiting to receive them. I am sharing my experience because choosing a dentist for your child is an important decision. Positive reviews were one of the main reasons I chose this office, but unfortunately, my personal experience was very different. I hope other parents consider this experience before deciding where to take their children, particularly when their child is already in pain and needs care.

They absolutely loved him and his staff. Of course, they loved the office too! As soon as they came in, they as well as I, were in awe to see everything so clean and colorful. Not to mention Toy Story playing on the tv. Too bad the staff couldn't see their excitement because the girls were wearing masks. Receptionist was so friendly took my girls temperature as soon as we came in following COVID-19 safety procedures. When we went into the room. I noticed all the rooms had a theme. Very kid friendly!! My oldest was at ease when she saw frozen 2 playing in the room. Dr. Stern was so friendly and explained everything he was doing before apply to the girls mouth. When he leaned the chair back he told them not to worry to just look up. When they looked up there was a tv mirroring the movie! He had a tv on THE CEILING! He even managed to clean and apply fluoride on my 2 year old. I thought she wouldn't let him do anything, let alone open her mouth for him. As an ECE teacher I appreciate the amount of details he put into his office and takes into actual consideration the little people in his office. I can not rave enough about this office and staff. Thank you shining Smiles for such a great experience for my girls and I!!!

Don't bring your children here unless they will be 100% compliant and quiet at all times. This practice was recommended by our pediatrician because my son has special needs. I took both him and my daughter (Shining Smiles recommended both children come at the same time). My daughter is almost 7 and last year when she was at this practice she was afraid to do x-rays and they quickly gave up. They suggested we should do them the following year, which we agreed to. Today, we had prepared our daughter in advance and even had a plan to reward her after she successfully completed the x-rays. Despite this, our daughter was nervous and immediately resistant to the x-rays. The hygienist was quickly condescending, didn't try to work with our daughter, and didn't trust us that we could work with our daughter to get her to complete the x-rays. While this was happening our 4-year old son wanted to leave the exam room and went into the waiting room with my husband. Our son was yelling that he wanted to leave, nothing overly disruptive, and not unexpected for a 4-year old who was being asked to watch his sister get a dental exam. We were able to settle everyone and my daughter was getting more comfortable with the idea of x-rays and my son was finishing his cleaning. The dentist came in abruptly and said to us that he heard our son in the waiting room and because our daughter wasn't being cooperative they would both need to go to a hospital and be sedated to get any kind of dental treatment. It was so rude and while I understand that might be needed for my son with special needs, I would not expect that for my daughter, especially after they barely tried to work with her or explain what she was supposed to do during the X-ray. The dentist looked in my son's mouth for an extremely short period of time, and said he might see a cavity but wouldn't try to look again to let me know for sure, and said we'd have to go to the hospital, again to do the exam under sedation. It was clear that they just didn't want to deal with either of them. There was zero bedside manner or any kind of knowledge about how to speak to children (with special needs or not). Their website says the dentist got a special certification to work with special needs kids and that they use gentle sedation techniques and laughing gas. When I asked about those options instead of going to a hospital he was dismissive. We will obviously never be going back to this place.

I am a very involved parent (nice way of saying I can be a real b*****) and I have NEVER had a bad experience. Reflecting on my 10 years of experience with this location, has there been a billing issue? Sure, mistakes happen. Have they given me an attitude about it? NO, they look into the problem and correct it. Do I sometimes come with 1,001 questions about my kids teeth? Yes, and they've always answered them. Have I ever been late for an appointment? Yes, and on those few times they've always tried to accommodate. BUT, I would call to tell them I'd be running late and let's be honest - the owner is running a business and just because our lives are running a little hectic doesn't me the whole world stops for us. You being late cuts into someone else's time. What if it was your time someone else was cutting into. My children are not perfect. My son has vasovagal syncope which made having a cavity filled real fun (NOT), needed braces, and doesn't brush well. My daughter is a mouth breather (doing damage to her teeth), has needed a tongue tie procedure, and has already had a cavity filling. At every NEW dental/personal experience in my children's lives, KIDDSMILES has been right there supporting them every step of the way- making them feel safe and loved. They've accommodated us whenever possible when asking for the family room (both your children seem at the same time or sometimes one at a time but together in the same room). Have they ever run behind? Yes, what business that deals with emergencies hasn't??? - name one and I'd call you a liar! I read an article somewhere that shared the owner's dental experience as a child and I said to myself, "Yes! Me too! I also had horrible dental experiences growing up." Choosing KIDDSMILES is the best choice I made with my children's dental care- securing GOOD childhood dental memories for years to come! A+++

Lake Success Dental Care Edith…read more Five stars and a dentist's office sounds like an oxymoron, a contradiction, a paradox. It's like jumbo shrimp or a garbage dump that smells sweet. These things just don't make sense or don't happen...and yet, there's an exception to every rule. In this case, Lake Success Dental Care in New Hyde Park 100% fits that idea. Okay, maybe I just have a very melodramatic history with dentists. I didn't go to one for a length of time I'd rather not discuss just due to never having a legitimate dentist I trusted or felt wouldn't yell at me for lack of brushing/flossing/etc. Then my sis/mother told me about Lake Success Dental Care and I finally decided I needed to bite the bullet (preferably not before a dentist trip, tooth joke) and make an appointment (plus they accepted my insurance, so that worked). Upon entering the office building where the practice is located, I was a ball of nerves, but the nicely-decorated waiting area almost didn't feel like I was about to have people stick their hands in my mouth. Things were comfortable and welcoming, with a phone charging station available if needed. Good start. Once my name was called, the nerves rose a little more, but each employee I met was very kind and I have to say, no one even came close to wagging a finger in my direction due to dental hygiene (even if they probably should have). The dentist I saw that day, Dr. Dai, didn't emanate a great initial friendliness, but he still kept things calm in his process. From that first trip back in November to now, I've visited Lake Success Dental Care four times (one more before a break!) and they've done some great work in getting my mouth all caught up on cleanings and fillings. Each trip was more of the same: calm, welcoming, timely, and never reprimanding (a big win in my book). I also met Edith, who will process your payments before you depart. She's a big reason why I almost (dare I say) enjoy coming to the dentist. Her and the whole friendly staff has made a lasting impression on me (even Dr. Dai opened up this last time around). Two other favorable factors worth mentioning are their hours and notifications. They run crazy times for a dentist's office with nights going until 9 as well as weekend hours available both Saturday and Sunday. They honestly make it hard for you to not find a time that works (even if you try...which I might have done when making that first phone call, heh heh). Once you've got your appointment, they'll call, email, and even text to make sure don't forget when to come in. Even though I'm usually good with dates, it's still great to know when I'm approaching that dental visit (you can't escape it!) Overall, Lake Success Dental Care has turned my world around in how I perceive dentists. I'm sure there are plenty of practices that are actually formidable for those without a childhood phobia of dentistry, but if you're reading this review and fear for your next dental visit, fear no more! Lake Success Dental Care is here for comfort, friendliness, proficiency, and an all-around positive experience. So maybe five stars isn't so far fetched for a dentist. Now we have to work on that sweet-smelling garbage dump...

I am sharing this to provide a factual account of our experience to help other families make…read moreinformed decisions. I have documented this timeline and filed a formal complaint with the New York State Education Department Office of Professional Discipline (OPD). 1. Last-Minute Cancellation after 4-Month Wait We began this process in January. After waiting four months for our scheduled appointment, the office called less than 17 hours before my daughter's braces were to be placed to cancel her treatment entirely. They claimed the case was "too complicated," despite having performed the initial consultation and impressions months prior. 2. Clinical Concerns After this office declined treatment, we sought a second opinion from a board-certified specialist. That specialist identified a 1mm midline deviation and Category II bite that this office failed to address in their initial plan. It appears the office was ill-equipped to handle my child's needs but waited until the day of treatment to disclose this. 3. Billing & Insurance Discrepancies The office charged my FSA $1,425 upfront. Furthermore, they billed my insurance company the full amount for a multi-year treatment ($5,700) before a single bracket was ever placed. I am currently working to rectify these charges for services never rendered. 4. Lack of Professionalism When I addressed these delays, the office suggested they were doing us a "favor" by not charging for the initial impressions. Wasting four months of a child's dental development is not a favor. My child's health is a priority, and being discarded as a patient at the last minute was deeply unprofessional. Note to Readers: I have retained all emails, dates, and documentation regarding this matter. I strongly recommend seeking a specialist who is transparent about their capabilities from the start.

I cannot chew hard foods and food gets stuck at the top of my gums every time I do eat. When I smile you can see the screws in one corner of my mouth where the food is getting trapped. The bottom teeth are also very small in comparison to the top and I informed the doctor that I was not happy. I was even told by Robin Greene the Treatment Coordinator that my final implants were made overseas and because of that was forced to wait 6 weeks for them to be completed which drew out an already overdrawn process! I was given no instruction or after-care paperwork and the doctors that performed the procedure and designed the implants are refusing to return my calls. When I complained about not only the lack of comfort and functionality of the final implants, I was told that what I wanted done was not what had been put in my mouth and that I would have to pay an additional $10,000 or more for that. Just to have implants that allow me to eat normally! I was never provided another option for the implants at the onset of the procedure. Please do not come here.
