This place is the absolute pits of dental hell. From the moment you walk in and you are fake greeted by this abominable scum of the earth Kathy who thinks she has every answer in the book of life but can't figure out simple tasks for the patients and all she know is to fish you out of money and make you feel like how she looks, like complete trash. She is the epitome of scum, she has zero clue what she is doing and has zero professionalism. She's a yes person for the dentists here who come and go as they please as there is always a new orthodontist because this place is horrible and can't keep their own dentists. They will call you non stop for cleanings and other bs just to suck you dry of your money. Kathy is a despicable human being and she's got the answers to life but can't figure out that she's a waste of time and space and life. Shouting out other people's information while we wait in the waiting room, who cares about hipa cuz she doesn't. Then she makes rude faces and makes you feel like you are wrong when in reality she's the lying beast in this. I called the office on 4/16/25 about my gum blister issue and was looking for medical advice from this dental practice. The front desk told me to email my gum pictures and videos to their office to see if anything they could do to help, but they never explained to the patient that it was going to be a telehealth phone review visit and insurance would not cover it. This nonsense Dr. Sarah called me back and said she can't prescribe anything without seeing and examining the patient and suggested I make an appointment to go in to get treatment. That was the whole conversation. She never diagnosed my gum or prescribed anything for it. I waited and never made an appointment for it. Luckily I got to heal on my own. So they billed me $120 for a telehealth/phone visit because they were trying to bill my insurance for $150. They knew insurance would not pay them for telehealth (non-covered billing code) and still submitted a claim? They could've told the patient that telehealth will charge for the phone call. Do you still want to continue with the call with the doctor? I would've told them no, and I will come in to the office instead. They never had good communication at first. They didn't care and think about the patient. They want to get more money from patients; it's the truth. They couldn't get paid from my insurance and asked the patient to pay a ridiculously overpriced medical advice fee? And how much is the regular office visit fee? $50? I was trying to explain the situation to Dr. Silverman. Seems like he doesn't even care about patient satisfaction or not. He just said Dr. Sarah has a registered license and she allowed to bill patient even patient is not getting treated? Not just talking about the ridiculous medical advice fee, the office manager, Cathy, was very unprofessional and rude to the patient. Talked about I'm not worth their time. She always tries to find a way to talk down to the patient and always asks the patient to spend unnecessary money at their dental office. She is always mocking me when I refuse certain unnecessary services they want to provide me. She always said, "You worked for the hospital; you should know about certain common things in life." "You'd rather spend money on your hair and your nails." She doesn't think this is inappropriate. Yes, I work for the hospital, but I'm not a dentist! I have the right to refuse the care they provided me. Spending money on my personal things is my choice; don't need your judgment! I only want to share my horrible experience here. They took it very personally and said writing a review about them is a threat? Your poor service and poor communication with patients--people need to know it's a fact. I hope people will choose dental offices carefully and cautiously. That's all. I will go ahead and pay or donate this stupid, overpriced medical advice fee. An exceptional, friendly atmosphere covering all stages of the facility. Kathy in the front desk is the backbone of order in the office that extends to the rest of the crew. Excellent modern facilty with computers, x-rays, cameras etc. Dr. Silverman has a model bedside manner and is very detailed in his explanation. I wrote 2 reviews in the google app. I have never been happier coming here. Dr Silverman and Dr Siegal are wonderful. Dr Silverman never gives up on his patients. I had to have an implant removed today. Dr Silverman had trouble getting it out. I spent 4 hours there and NEVER GAVE UP ON ME GETTING IT OUT. This is my favorite place to come too. University Dental has been in the Bayside neighborhood for over 35 years, probably longer, since I only started seeing Dr. Silverman/Dr. Gong there in 1985. University Dental has treated me (and my family since 1990). It is not the excellence of care (for cleanings, braces, root canals, all the normal treatment one needs in a lifetime) that we have received which inspires our loyalty to University Dental; it is the peace of mind from knowing that if any dental issues arises, Dr. Silverman and team will resolve it expertly. I recall several instances over the years where my wife, my children had sudden dental issues at non-business hours. All it took was a call to their phone answering service and Dr. Silverman would respond within minutes to assess the situation and arranged for us to come in for emergency treatment. Even when I temporarily moved out of Bayside, and to NJ, I still made the trek back to University Dental for my all dental needs. Years ago, I had new dentures made at this dental office. A little over a year later, the front teeth popped out. I went back to wearing my old dentures and kept wearing them for a long time (years). Then, the front tooth of my old dentures broke, so I had the old ones and the new ones fixed (at a different dentist). I wore the new ones a few times. The bottom was painful to wear and dug into the gum around my lower bridge. Also, the top and bottom pieces do not touch each other in the back, indeed I can stick my tongue through them. The front teeth do not overlap by the lower bridge. I stopped going to this office because something I can't put my finger on bothered me. Especially the clerical staff. So, if and until I get new dentures, I will wear the old ones, which are now about 18 years old but fit fine. read more

When I found out I was going to lose my insurance at the end of the month, 2 weeks before that deadline and one week before Thanksgiving, I knew I had to get my medical issues tied up quickly. University Dental took on my case without hesitation, and after my initial cleaning and consultation scheduled appointments for 5 fillings and a minor soft tissue surgery within the next week. I had all my work done before Thanksgiving and all my followups done by the end of my coverage period, and they did it all very graciously. My first visit to them was at the tail end of a very long day and I was keeping them from going home, so everyone was a bit brusque and I left feeling a bit cast aside, having just been told I needed 5 fillings and made to feel a bit like I was imposing, but I think now it was more the result of the timing than the people, since Drs. Gott and Silverman have both been extremely kind during all my subsequent visits. I'm thankful to them for being so willing to fit me in wherever they could as well as for helping me make sure all the work would be covered by insurance. Quality-wise, I'm used to slightly more knowledgeable dental assistants, and the filling work was good and fast but a little bit sloppy (there are some rough edges that will have to wear down with time), but for the amount of work I needed done and the expedience with which they fit me in, I didn't mind. If given the choice and the time I might try to find a classier place in a nicer neighborhood (this has more of a clinicky feel), but for what I needed and when I needed it by University Dental did just fine. **UPDATE 2/09** I went back to my dentist in CA over Christmas break to make sure everything looked okay, and he ended up having to do a ton of sanding to fix my bite (University Dental didn't really shape the fillings that well, so I was experiencing pain during chewing that didn't go away for over a month), and they also apparently used a kind of filling material (only on one side of my mouth, though!) that doesn't show up on x-rays, which made their job a bit more difficult. The only two fillings they didn't go back in and reshape are the two that are currently giving me major trouble with temperature sensitivity. Cold food or liquid can immobilize me for a few moments if I'm not careful, and I'm convinced it's related to the sloppy job I received here. I still appreciate their willingness to fit me in, but I'm concerned that the dental work I received here is going to lead to me needing a crown or two much sooner than I'd otherwise hoped. UD is probably fine for regular cleanings, but for major dental work I'd spend a little more time (if you can afford it) to find someplace a bit more reputable. read more

I have been to several dentists in the past and my experience here was the best. They staff is wonderful. Monique, the dental hygienist, was such a delight, she was very patient and thorough with my teeth cleaning! She explained each process every step of the way. Then I saw the dentist Dr. Siegel who was very nice and thoroughly answered my questions. Dr. Silverman, the owner of the practice, was courteous enough to introduce himself to me as I was leaving. They don't care very much for the patients. I went in and they told me I needed a root canal... it would run me around two thousand dollars without insurance. Firstly I declined service and called other dentists in the area and got quotes for exactly the same 3 procedures and got lower costs by over 500 from all other dentists. Secondly I ended up going to a dentist and immediately said I didn't need a route canal. I ended up getting a cleaning and a filling and saved my tooth and my wallet. Thirdly, the main dentist at Universal said that I had peridontal disease and stated that "once there is bacteria in your mouth its there forever and I'd have to go in every 4 months for cleaning or I'd lose all my teeth in under a year." This place is a total rip off. Save your money and time.... read more

I found this practice thru 1800dentist and I'm so glad I did. I am NOT a fan of going to the dentist but everyone is super nice and makes the experience comfortable. I actually go every 6mo now. You feel like family. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed by Dr Siegel and was absolutely fine the next day!! I am doing Invisilign with Dr Laura. And I even started bringing my 3yo. The whole office was so great with her. It was very reassuring and she talks about going to the dentist all the time. Kathy and Sue are amazing at the front desk. And Lynn is super helpful with insurance and/or payments. Dr Silverman is a joker and always makes you laugh. I could keep calling people out that have been so great, like Grace and Monique, but they really are all such a great team! read more

I haven't been there for years but I will never forgive or forget the total destruction of my teeth by Dr. Silverman. I had to pay a fortune to another dentist to get them fixed and to get me out of the pain that Dr. Silverman has inflicted on me! He was only interested in money not the quality of the work. He gave me advice on my last visit about the Oral B electric toothbrush, that I was able to purchase from them, change my brushing tremendously and my visit today was perfect! Bad experience. As soon as you walk in, they try to sell you their $500 teeth whitening system. (I already have very white teeth, so I was surprised at the gall.) The teeth cleaning was minimal and I had to go to another dentist's office to get my teeth cleaned properly. They charge an exorbitant amount of money is you need a copy of your x-rays. read more

Since the first time I walked into Dental PC, I was shocked by the ambience. The place is located in a tiny basement with very large people. The doctors are very tall--heads touching the ceiling, and the secretary and nurse are also quite tall, but horizontally, if you know what I mean. Aside from the subpar physical characteristics of the clinic, the customer service is also lacking. The secretary, (Hispanic, curly long hair woman) is very unwelcoming and unfriendly. Every time I have went here she made me feel uncomfortable. From her rude remarks to not only myself, my mother, AND my stepfather, to her lies. My appointment the last time I went there was for 2pm. They called everyone in the waiting room who had gotten there before and AFTER me, before they called me. I was there in the waiting room until 3:15 when they finally called me in--well so I thought they called me in. I, at this point became frustrated because not only was I the last one in the waiting room since they called everyone else in before me, but I had watched them ORDER AND EAT CHINESE FOOD in front of me. That's cool, I condone lunch breaks, but not at the cost of me waiting an hour and 15 minutes. At 3:15--after all the waiting, they told me that they couldn't help me because I am 17 years old, and my stepdad--my legal guardian--wasn't a sufficient parent. Now I would be fine with this if I didn't hear this for the first time AND if they didnt keep in the waiting room for an hour and 15 minutes to be told away. I have had braces for 5 years now, and have been to 4 different Orthodontists (and other doctors offices), and not once was my stepfather's accompaniment insufficient. After the secretary had told my stepfather that the lengthy wait time was due to "being busy", I knew I was officially DONE with this place. Busy, yes, but not for the last 45 minutes when they were all gathered to eat before my eyes. After the secretary gave my stepfather an attitude--nothing out of the ordinary for her to do--they allowed me in to see the Orthodontist. Dr. Silverman acted as if he was doing me a favor by seeing me. He didn't say anything out of the ordinary, but I could tell by his unhappy look and eagerness to get me out of there. Perhaps it was because my appointment time (at this point, an hour and half later) conflicted with his lunch break. So what is the ending? I ended up leaving with my mouth uncomfortable. Dr. Silverman undid the wire of my non-removable retainer and left me with the wire sticking out and bothering my tongue. Also, as a result of the POWERFUL air condition in the clinic, I have caught a fever and a cold. I am writing this review as I sit home the next day with a wire in my mouth bothering me, and with a thermometer in my mouth. Thank you Dental PC!! Conclusion? Well I do know that this is NOT a place I would recommend to anyone. If you want bad service, unfriendly experiences, and to be able to sit back and watch your doctor eat Chinese food while you wait, then this is your place! read more

I am terrified of cleanings because they hurt so bad but this place offers nitris to help soothe you and you don't feel a thing. The hygienist was wonderful as well and so was the doctor! We've had everything from regular cleanings to a dental implant and tooth removal. It's great that every time I go, they know our name and remember us. I have been a patient at University Dental ever since I had teeth. I have had everything done here - from cleanings to my wisdom teeth being taken out to Invisalign treatment. I am so happy that I went to a place where my treatment was cared about. Dr. Silverman and his staff took the time to explain to me why I needed certain procedures and are extremely accommodating when it comes to scheduling my appointments. Sometimes you may feel like you just never want to go back to the dentist again. Sometimes people don't realize that your aftercare at home between cleanings and procedures is extremely important if you don't want to have a painful experience at the dentist's office. The dental hygenists and dentists are communicative, gentle, and very good with pain management. The procedures are thorough yet quick and I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen. Well almost as soon as I went into the exam room I was berated for using chew tobacco, which I get it they deal with mouth cancers and this shit is terrible for me but simply telling me the dangers and not scaring my wife by saying I'll die is a bit different. I had a bunch of cleanings done which I needed but then I was told I needed implants or a bridge ASAP as my teeth may break off at anytime. They sent the plan to insurance but sent the wrong information twice and actually never called to let me know it was only after I called to tell them I'm still waiting on an answer they said they tried. Now they had a whole other issue with my wife and I'm not getting into but let me just say with these people keep and copy all documents, get receipts, and make sure they aren't screwing around with your money.
