At 67 closing in on 68, spending six hours on a defensive driving course was not my idea of fun. My experience at Comedy Driving led by Ray our instructor was that even 'older dogs' need to be reminded that driving a vehicle is an awesome responsibility. It's not a 'gotcha' class designed to make you fail. It certainly is not stand-up comedy. It's a sobering reminder that lives are shattered and destroyed every day of every year because of foolish mistakes or callous indifference to personal responsibility. Ray's humor was his wit and his interaction with individuals in a way that challenged us to pay attention. His humor never got in the way of or undermine the reality of the fact that I would not be in the class if I had not been careless but very lucky that my carelessness didn't kill or tragically injure someone. I am glad that I did not go the 'online' route of taking the class. There's something very productive to taking six hours out of one's life in the presence of others to remember those important lessons were taught when we were just teenagers getting our license for the first time. Took the online course for $25. Did it mostly in one sitting, with some breaks in between. Best part is most of it you don't have to read, since everything is voiced. I was able to do other work while videos/audio was playing in the background or playing in a small browser window. I'd say it was part funny, part corny, part touching for the drunk driving/texting videos, and interesting to see some vintage driving videos. It was rarely boring. Some tips, if you are on a long timed section, make sure you click "Next" before you take a break so you don't have to replay that section when you log back in (if you are idle a while). Do keep an eye on the longer videos, cause they ask you a random question after the video to make sure you are watching (like what kind of car was driven, color of the car, man or woman, etc). If you get it wrong you don't have to watch the whole video again, just use your mouse to scan/forward the progress bar, then click Next to answer a different random question. Got the completion certificate a few days later in the mail, even though I chose the free shipping option. Would highly recommend this course. read more

Craig Bush was by far the instructor with the best nose I've ever had the absolute privilege of suffering through a comedy defensive driving course with. His terrible jokes throughout the day somehow kept the room conscious enough to avoid slipping into medically concerning comas during the 6-hour marathon of traffic laws and regret. Craig has a rare gift. He can turn topics like "proper following distance" and "the dangers of distracted driving" into what feels like a low-budget Vegas residency hosted inside a strip mall conference room. Every joke landed somewhere. Not always where intended, but somewhere. By the end of the class, Stockholm Syndrome had fully set in and I found myself actually enjoying the experience. I laughed. I learned. I reconsidered several life choices that led me to a defensive driving course on a Saturday. If you're going to lose an entire day of your life to ticket dismissal, Craig is the guy you want holding the steering wheel. read more

Instructor Ray was great. He gave the outline of the course and made sure we were paying attention by asking us questions often enough which helped keep our minds from wandering off. He did a great job preparing us well for our short test at the end of class. During our breaks, he played video of stand-up comedians to keep us entertained. Do arrive 10-15 minutes ahead of class start time. DO NOT BE LATE to class (you will not be allowed to take the class if you arrived after class has already started - no exception). As the lunch break is short, it's best to bring your lunch so you wouldn't have to rush out to get something to eat or chance returning to class late. Do pay the extra $5 to have certificate of completion emailed to you the same day; that way you can check off "get certificate of completion" item on your to-do list the same day rather than waiting for it to come in the snail mail (I got mine within 2.5 hours after class). read more

I was almost tempted to take this online...don't do it. There is nothing more fascinating than laughing and learning at the same time. My attention and the rest of the classes attention was maintained the whole time. There was no pressure, no offensive material, and the information was almost completely new to most of us. I don't know how many people understand how difficult it is to have those elements present in anything involving the State but the class was phenomenal and almost too simple is the process to comply with court orders. Jim you are the best, Mr. Thibodeaux, the "worst driving record in the world" is on his way to becoming a better driver thanks to you. You are so sexy and you rock!!! Had an opportunity to take the online class but decided on taking this 6-hour, painstaking, death by powerpoint, and watching videos course on a Saturday morning. I mean hey, you can't complain and like the saying goes, "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime (violation)", so I'm paying for my actions and feeling the pain. In all actuality, the course is all not that bad. Chuck (Charles) our instructor was hecka funny and did his best in making the class eventful, exciting and fun as well as making sure we were all attentive for our review test at the end. Not to mention during the course he gave us short breaks and allowed us to take a lunch in between. This course was a good choice because you also have the opportunity to have all your paperwork reviewed and notarized for those of us that have a short window to turn in paperwork within a few days. - Randy read more

First time doing court ordered defensive driving and it was absolutely amazing!!!! One stop for notarizing, driving record and fedex shipping. Our instructor Ray was hilarious and it was worth every penny. It didn't even feel like I was there 6 hours. I hope I never have to do defensive driving again because well I don't want to sit 6 hours in a class with Mario bros and Diego. But if I had to do it again I would most definitely go back to Comedy Driving. On an educational note, I learned a lot and the most crucial thing was learning the consequences of the what if's, should of's, and could of's, from speeding to DWI-it was all explained and in detail. I woke up this am really dreading a 6 hour driving course on my 'off' day... but Dwight made the class entertaining yet the comedy was not overkill and didn't overshadow the necessary information/knowledge necessary to become safer driver. Although I have taken defensive driving on several occasions over the years I still feel like I have more clarity on various driving situations... even reading some of the Highway signs... when specific driving situations/rules/laws were asked Dwight seemed well inform and answers for us. For example I asked specifically about the right turn light at hwy 6/59 S Highway and now I will make the right decision at that particular intersection. I would not only take Dwight's class again if it becomes necessary but would also refer/recommend his specific class to others... read more

I looked at another website's reviews, then also compared those to reviews on Yelp -- and their suggestions didn't always get good reviews on Yelp. I had gotten several postcards in the mail from defensive driving schools, and decided to try www.comedydriving.com since it got good reviews on Yelp. Just completed the online course. Website is good and looks professional, and no glitches in the technology. Timer at top of page, and showing progress through each chapter were both very helpful. Humor wasn't knee-slapping or belly-laughing funny -- but it was entertaining, and the parts that seemed to be longer than necessary made sense because of how long the company has to make the course to meet the 6 hr min time frame set by State of Texas. I would take this online course again if I get another ticket. read more

Craig Bush defensive driving instructor made the class interesting and very interactive. I did not feel the 6 hours because there was no boring moment. He is very knowledgeable on the topic of defensive driving . He is very practical on what we need to know to be a defensive driver. I learned a lot and was laughing at the same time. The whole class had a good laugh. It's a better way to learn since it sticks because of the comedy interjected into the class. It's a very funny class and definitely recommend this class and especially if Craig is teaching the class. He made it very interesting! Awesome instructor! I am glad I took the class. Well it's kind of inevitable, good or bad driver, we eventually get popped with a speeding ticket. Luckily in Texas, we have the option of paying the fine and getting points against us or taking defensive driving and getting it dismissed. I will admit that I was not looking forward to spending 6 hours of my day taking defensive driving. However, Comedy Driving actually made it pretty painless and the time seemed to fly by. The instructor was funny, yet informative at the same time. So I actually learned a few new things and managed to squeeze in a few laughs at the same time. I will gladly refer friends and family over to them. Fingers crossed that I do not have to return anytime in the near future though, haha. read more

I Would like say that I attended a defensive driving course today off Katy Freeway - and Dwight our teacher was an excellent teacher he made this fun but also very informative !! Had to go to this for work.... didn't know how it was going to be, I have taken a comedy d.d. School online, but wasn't to funny... this place is great--- the instructor RAY(.... your welcome For the plug) was very funny through out the day. Didn't feel like we were there for a 6 hr class. And very informative as well---- need to give RAY another bonus!!!!! --- the man has some good jokes!!! And works them in when he can. Better pay attention cause you might not catch them . I recommend anyone who want a break on your insurance or get those points off your license got to this place---- BUT DONT BE LATE!!!! Comedy Driving is a great place to complete your defensive driving course. Variety of classes offered to suit any schedule: 2-day classes or one-day, 6-hour class with breaks. I went for the Monday 6-hour class, and was able to get home in time to start my afternoon of piano lessons (half hour away). Dwight, my instructor, covered everything and then some, in an easy to understand manner. He reviewed key points to make sure we would not forget. Brought up some interesting situations and clarified laws both old and new. Class comments, questions, and discussion were welcomed, yet he did a great job keeping us timely and on target. Had a great experience at this place, the instructor Jim was nice and very informative. Every question the class had was answered without hesitation - this instructor seemed overqualified to be teaching a defensive driving class. Glad I was able to learn things in an adult education type format - most of the time they are a complete waste of time. The class was funny as well - well I found myself smiling and laughing a few times out loud. There were some odd characters in the classroom but it made for an interesting mix of students - young, old, college aged, high school, business types etc... Ok so I had to take defensive driving per the houston municipal court and I heard about this company through a friend who highly recommended it. Its only $29. Not bad at all. Its located between wilcrest and the beltway on the eastbound feeder of i-10 in a orange shopping center next to a smoke shop. I went in on a Saturday and the instructor/comedian was a goofy guy named Larry. He was definitely a character! He really had me laughing and just totally erased any doubt about the quality of a comical defensive driving class. Embarrassed to admit it but this is my third time in the class.. As soon I was told I can take defensive driving to clear my ticket, I knew immediately where I was going to go, Comedy Driving. Dwight was my instructor the last time I was required to take a defensive driving class and luckily for me he is my instructor again this time. He is very informative and up front with how everything is going to go down during class. Dwight has a great sense of humor so it keeps the class interesting. This is the first time since the 80's that I had to take a defensive driving course. I googled the closes class to me and found this establishment highly rated. The course was 6 hours and it was not bad at all. I went during the week and learned a lot of new information. Ray was such I great instructor. Ray listens well and explains even well. Ray made the class enjoyable and fun. Ray totally reviewed all the videos with us and prepared all of us the the final test at the end of class. Dwight, at Comedy Driving, was entertaining and informative. I realized on Saturday night that my deadline to submit a defensive driving completion certificate was Monday afternoon! You don't have to register for their class ahead of time; just show up. I took the class from 9-3 today (on a Sunday) and they're delivering my certificate to me by 2:00pm tomorrow (costs extra for next day delivery) so I can run it to the court by my 4:00 deadline. Dwight is also a notary so he notarized my required affidavit stating that I haven't taken a class in the past year. #comedydefensivedriving read more
