It's my first time going to a show solo and I was really nervous. I'm a crippling introvert so the whole place was intimidating to walk into alone. Walking up to the place, there were 2 older white guys who were comics or workers?They were smoking their cigs just staring with the weirdest, meanest looks. I was tempted to turn around and head back to my car. I'm glad I decided to ignore them and go in. I think the employee's name is Jack? He's a young, white guy and was already superbly friendly to the couple in front of me. When I went up to the ticket counter, super confused and anxious, he made the whole experience beyond wholesome. He turned my entire day around. It's crazy how a stranger can do that. Fun time tonight seeing Michael Rappaport and two openers before him. Lots of parking outside and around the corner. There are also restaurants upstairs and nearby if you want to get a bite to eat first. Their policy for cell phones and smart watches where you need to put them in a sealed security bag is kind of a pain, but I'm guessing there's good reason for it. We might just leave everything at home or in the car next time. There is a two item minimum for each person, but we ended up with three each. My wife had two glasses of the house cab and one Butter Baby Java, which is a hot coffee drink with butterscotch schnapps and other stuff too. I had a house manhattan, which was ok, a Butter Baby Java, and one of the other coffee drinks...showed up as Coffee Tail on the receipt, but the name had more to it than that. That one was my favorite. Next time, I might just stick with that. All in all, fun night. Convenient to get to and home from, about as good service and drinks as you could expect, and funny comedians. Guessing we'll be back next time someone we like is in town. read more

Went to comedy works for the first time with a friend! Did the eating at the restaurant for seats 1-6. While the seats were close up they really packed you in like sardines. I was thigh to thigh with the person sitting next to me and my friend also was touching the person next to them. That's the one thing I really didn't like and the reason why they received 3 stars. The servers were fine. The drinks were decent. Their desserts inside the comedy theatre are extremely sad though. My friend ordered some funnel cake fries. There was maybe a teaspoon of sugar and she had 13 small fries total for $11 or $12 I think it was. read more

I went to the downtown location just a few days ago, and it was my first time at this location. I really enjoyed not having to worry about parking as there were multiple FREE lots for hundreds of cars. That's one of the benefits to attending an event out of the city/downtown area. Getting in was easy, no long lines or any type of hassle. You just need to show them your id. This location also used yondr pouches to lock up phones. I was seated pretty close to the stage, in the second row, and it was absolutely great! This was the Thick Skin event, which had me laughing nonstop. Not only did we see various comedians come on stage, but there was also a contest at the end for the ugliest tattoo LOL and the winner gets a $100 gift certificate to a tattoo removal place. I thought it was absolutely hilarious and would definitely return to this location if I were in town again. I especially appreciated Matt's (I think that's his name with the long curly hair and mustache?) face the entire time he MC'd, that alone was pure comedy! Inside the service was great-I ended up ordering the mozzarella sticks with ranch and raspberry cheesecake. Everything was great, esp. being picked on during the show! read more

My mother and I just had a nice dinner nearby Comedy Works. We were the only seats in the back row. First waitress, came by within minutes informing us to keep it down. We acknowledge the warning and followed suit. Within two minutes, another male with curly hair notified us with the same message to keep it down. Meanwhile, the headliner had not even stepped on stage and we were keeping it cordially and respectfully voice down to a minimum after the first warning. Camille, who was the only decent employee at Comedy Works with amazing customer service, obtained our order for one item. She was kind and her hospitality was excellent. Following after, a third employee had told us about the noise warning which they seem to have as a protocol within their training as servers at Comedy Works. Time passed, and my mother and I were then asked to leave the facility by the manager, Sean, who rudely confronted us and harassed my mother after she had given good graces to the headliner, Sam Adam's, family, who were seated next to us. He had stated "you were talking to people. You need to leave, now." and mentioned he will be calling the police to kick us out. My mother stated, "okay, I will pay my bill." She had tipped Camille 20%, and we left the building despite the disrespectful hospitality that Sean had to offer. My mother had asked for a glass of water before leaving the facility. Sean stated, "I will give it to you in the lobby." My mother had stated, "I am paying my bill, Camille deserves my good graces." read more

A couple of problems with the way the do business at this Tech Center location versus the downtown location. First off, don't bother showing up early to get in line. Unless you're dining at their Lucy's restaurant or you pay for VIP tickets, they'll seat you in the way back two rows. They don't bother explaining this to anyone and it's a crappy way to do business at a comedy club. Secondly, while you're sitting in those two back rows, you'll have a hard time hearing the comic on stage because the staff stands in the back loudly talking. read more

Parking can suck. Usually park in a big lot by a strip mall. Arrived 30 min before a show. Waited in line that went out the door. Got seated front and center. Openers were ok. Ive seen all of their material before. Maddy smith was the comedian we came to see. She was good. Got the crowd laughing. Menu doesn't have much for entrees except for chix tenders and the feature combo. I got the feature combo ($17). It was surprisingly good. The two chicken tenders were well seasoned and crisped. The three mozzarella sticks were tasty. Fries were soft and on point. Came with 3 sauces that all went well with the food. Lemonade ($5) was ok, a bit watered down. read more

I visited this comedy club last night and was left thoroughly disappointed with their food service. While a two-item minimum is typical and understandable, the food was absolutely abysmal. We ordered the hummus with veggies and the spinach artichoke dip, and both were huge letdowns. The hummus came in a tiny sample cup, was completely tasteless, and was served with stale pita triangles, a tiny handful of carrots, and celery--sliced so thin, it was mostly the white, bitter part of the stalk. The spinach artichoke dip, for $14, was an even bigger joke: an extremely small portion served with a handful of chips and the same disgusting celery. To top it off, the food staff were rude and had zero customer service skills. While the comedians were great, they couldn't save the food service. THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE WERE THE JOKE! I would not recommend wasting your money on their food as your 2-item minimum, head to one of the nearby restaurants if time permits. The management should take these reviews seriously and make some prompt changes. read more

We just had a wonderful dinner upstairs at Lucy. (You will get better seating if you eat an entree pp or two appetizers at the restaurant, I believe) If you are going downstairs to one of there comedy shows We had also purchased the 'Meet and Greet' tickets, for that evening's show. . As this was CARLOS MENCIA!! Following dinner; We were escorted down and seated in the Comedy Works South. Quaint place. Small table for your drinks or food if you choose to order. The wait staff were wonderful. Picking up glasses quickly, making sure we had what ever we needed. And a bonus ++ FRIENDLY. Show started on time. His friends 'warming up the crowd' (I think that's what it is called) we're great. Then Carlos came out. And he did not disappoint. No holds barred. As always, he leaves me thinking after the show, about what he has really said. I like that. My husband and I discussed it on the ride home. (And laughed again) As everyone left the theater, we were escorted to an area to meet him. I have met comedians before. Carlos actually was engaging with the folks, laughing, asking them questions. It was wonderful. Plus, we got two signed shirts. I feel like Peter Brady in the episode where he'll never 'wash that hand again' I told my husband, "Don't you wear that signature off!!" It was my birthday last night, and we ordered $60 worth of food, cocktails, and two waters. The drinks arrived, but no water. When we asked, we were told it was coming. Our food arrived, still no water. We asked again and got the same response. Twenty minutes passed, and I flagged down a staff member, who repeated the same line and then asked if we wanted to order anything else. From that point on, the staff actively avoided us, only resurfacing for the final call. Again, they insisted the water was coming. Fine. Clearly, serving water was beneath them, so I went to the bar and got it myself. I handed a glass to my partner, and before we could even take a sip, a staff member suddenly appeared, asking to take it away. I told them no, we were still drinking and had to drive. My partner took one sip and set the glass down. Not even a minute later, someone came up behind us, grabbed his glass, and, I kid you not, almost ran away. That was the moment I realized it wasn't neglect, this was malicious. I don't know what kind of petty behavior that was, but withholding water to push booze is going to get someone killed. read more

I hate to knock down a star but I feel it's justified. I went to see Preacher Lawson this weekend and the show itself was great, however I have to make some comments on the customer service and the food. I know people here come for the comedy but they require a two item minimum purchase and it feels like they're making the food an after thought and it's almost laughable how bad the food is and overpriced. It almost makes me just not want to come here anymore since the bar is set so low. When I went to the Denver Improv I felt that the space was roomier and the food actually tasted decent and didn't feel like such an after thought. I feel like they've been able to get away with this because people will still come back for the comedians, but it's just not cool that the food is such an after thought, my fries I ordered were cold and hard, and for $9 it's such a rip off. Came to comedy works for the first time. They had someone coming my husband i were excited about and made the 90 minute one way trek all way from foco. The location was easy to find. There is a pretty big parking lot nearby and we were able to easily get a spot. We walked from the parking lot to the comedy south and waited in the line. We had pre-purchased our tickets. Be sure to bring your drivers license. The line moved fairly fast. While in line you will be asked to lock your phone up in a "yondr" thing. You hang onto the phone in the yondr. You just can't use it until after the show. You will be required to purchase 2 food/beverages per ticket. Everything is pretty pricey and there is not really any food if you are gluten free/vegan. My husband got pork pot stickers and a beer. I got water..... for $5 a bottle. Seating, if its a full house, which it was.... is uncomfortable. its so tight. Literally shoulder to shoulder with your neighbor. there is no space at all. Basically expect to sit there and not be able to move for the entirety of the show. The show was funny and we were happy to be able to see the comedian. Staff however, needs to better hide their feelings if they dont like the comic or disagree with their humor. It was pretty obvious the staff was fuming over the comedians jokes........ I probably would not come back unless they got someone i was really excited about. read more

Short and sweet is the best way to describe this place. It does fall short of comfort so if you are a plus size person or one that has back problems keep in mind they got traditional ballroom style chairs that are placed very close to each other. Also they are not very comfortable after 30 mins most of my friends were over it. Two drink minimum but that also goes for anything on the menu. So get yourself that slice of cheesecake with a glass of wine! Plenty of parking and the staff is friendly! read more

Went here for a show tonight (Russell Peters) with some friends. I was very excited to go since I haven't been to a comedy club in a long time. The seating is very close, but we got lucky to sit at the end of an aisle with more leg room. I was initially a bit surprised by the price of a ticket ($45) but upon researching more I guess this is a common price for a show. I was okay with the two item minimum since that is typical of a place like this. Service was overall okay but not great. Food was fine, priced fairly reasonably, and drink prices were in line with other restaurants nearby. Would go back not regularly however if there was a comedian I really wanted to see. read more

I really enjoyed going to a comedy show here at Comedy Works. The service was good and the food and drinks hit the spot, but there are a few drawbacks. 1. They reserve the good seating for patrons who also eat in their in-house restaurant (which we did) but honestly I would pay more for my tickets if you let me pick where I want to sit. 2. They pack you uncomfortably close to other guests. I understand wanting to maximize attendance but it shouldn't be at the cost of future attendance. I am not a big guy but I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be for someone who is. 3. As is traditional with comedy clubs they have you captive with a item minimum so the cost of food/drink borders unreasonable However, looking at their calendar they book nationally known acts, they charge a reasonable rate for tickets and all of the seats seem to have a good stage view. The price of food and drinks aside give me some elbow room and the ability to know where I am going to sit without forcing me through your restaurant and I would be in attendance a lot. TL:DR - great acts, good service, but be prepared to sit uncomfortably close to strangers read more

I would recommend the downtown location all day, but I will never recommend this location (Greenwood Village) after our last experience. This location is a good size and provides more seating than the downtown, but is it worth it? A resounding NO! The chairs and tables seem like a better idea than the theater style seats downtown, but they aren't. They're only a pain because people bump into your table all the time (3 people had glasses that fell and broke during the show). And the chairs are less comfortable than the ones downtown. We went to see John Luvitz, but the viewing was intermittent because literally, no exaggeration, every minute or less, another staff member was walking or standing in front of us. We looked around the place during the show and there were so many staff members constantly walking back and forth through the isles, it looked like ants crawling around an aquarium! Not only were they walking around constantly, but also constantly talking (not whispering, TALKING) asking people if they can take their empty containers. I was asked 5 times to take my glass that wasn't even empty! Holy shit, leave me the hell alone so I can watch and hear the damn show!!!! The other downside to this location is their laxed policy enforcement. Their policies clearly and repeatedly state that you should not be talking during the show, heckling, or yelling out to the comedians or you will be ejected "without warning". However, there was a group of women in front us that wouldn't shut the F*&% up, and kept yelling booo to the comedians comments that they didn't like. One lady got a warning and even argued with the staff member, but didn't get ejected, and then continued, after the staff member left, but nothing was done. I will not be returning to Greenwood Village Comedy Works. read more

bought tickets to Denver's own - JOSH BLUE- and surprised my husband with a date night! Ate upstairs at their restaurant, Lucy. I just ate a burger, sans bun, with a side salad, while hubs at the bistro steak - which was cooked perfectly! Creme brûlée for dessert. Javon, one of their newer servers, took such good care of us and made sure that we had everything we needed! Because we made the dinner reservation we were seated within the first two rows at the show, which was nice to be up close. Honestly, everything was perfect, dinner was tasty, the cocktails during the show were good. No complaints at all. I only give this four stars, because let's be honest it's not a five star restaurant. For what it is, it's VERY GOOD, but the selection won't really WOW anyone. But don't hesitate to eat here.... especially if your going to the show! read more

I guess free doesn't mean free. I had four passes that I used to make reservations by phone. When we arrived I was told the passes were only worth $22 each. The tickets were $25 each so I still owed $3 per ticket. My first drink was $14 but very watered down. They delivered the wrong second drink but finally got it right. Comedy was ok. read more

Had a great time and the staff was very attentive. They have this down to a science with getting people drinks and food but not disturbing the show. The only gripe I have, but I understand, is the seats are TINY. I was butt to butt (man that sounds weird) with the lady next to me. I also have a boney rear end so the seats, and pretty much every seat that doesn't have the elderly seat cushions , were a bit hard. Lucy's is a good restaurant, and you get the VIP treatment if you eat there before a show! It also gets pretty crowded at Lucy's so book/reserve a spot! We love going to Comedy Works. We've seen a lot of local acts as well as national acts working on their Netflix specials. LEAVE YOUR PHONE AND SMARTWATCHES IN YOUR CAR! That's the quickest way to get in and out of the shows. The people that work there are pretty cool. I feel like they probably don't make a lot so TIP THEM! South is cooler than the Denver one because parking is there and free. Downtown is a mess with trying to find somewhere to park. There is the two item minimum for each guest. If you make reservations at Lucy's they'll escort you down to a "VIP" area which is awesome. The only problem is, I JUST ATE AT YOUR FLIPPING RESTAURANT AND NOW I STILL HAVE TO ORDER TWO ITEMS! My suggestion is that Lucy's patrons, that have tickets should be exempt from the two item minimum during the show... unless the point is to suck as much money out of people as possible and make them wonder if you actually care about comedy or money. read more

What a blast! No photos per the request of the venue. Free parking is provided with the parking garage next to the building! We arrived right before doors opened so we waited outside. When they opened they had us get into a single file line. They asked us to have masks on and IDs ready. They checked us in and got us seated right away! If you dined at the restaurant next door, Lucy, you got priority seating (they put your name on a table that's closer to the stage and in the middle of the room). I've never been to a comedy show so I was super excited and didn't really know what to expect. We got into the room and it was set up like a theater, except all the seats were SO close together. I'm talk absolutely NO elbow room. Four people shared one small table so if you didn't come in a party of four you got to know your neighbors quickly (we had nice ones)! Wait staff runs around asking people if they would like to place an order now (before the show starts) or later (during the show). The menu was provided by QR code. Scan the code, order, put away your phone haha. For starters we got a lemonade, Gorgonzola fries, and pork potstickers! The lemonade was standard. Nothing fancy, I'm guessing it was Minute Maid. The Gorgonzola fries were delicious! I absolutely loved them! The sauce with the cheese with the fries all tasted amazing! I want to make my own now! The pork potstickers were delicious! They were fried! I forgot to count how many, I was hungry... We then got pretzels. They gave use two pretzels with queso and mustard dipping sauces. They call them jumbo but I would say average. Good size for what they were though. The middle of one of my pretzels was still cold and the outside warm. But over all it was a good pretzel. Before the headliner went on I got the creme brûlée. It was much smaller than I excepted so I was a little disappointed. The vanilla custard wasn't as cold as I was expecting. Kinda like they pulled out one to many, waited 5 minutes and then I got it. Someone else ordered the brownie Sunday and I saw them bring it out, kinda wish I got that inside. So next time! The host, opener, and headliner were amazing!! I couldn't stop laughing! Over all, for my first comedy show, I really enjoyed it! All of the food tasted good. So thankful I found this place on Yelp. In town for a conference, and meant to book seats with my conference to the Rockies game but forgot, and they didn't have any spots left in the group. To compound matters, my coworker had his flight cancelled so I was solo with nothing to do. Oh, and my girlfriend decided she wanted space, and was originally supposed to be on this trip with me so I guess shit has hit the fan. Brandt Tobler was advertised as the comedian for last night, and was actually impressed they had comedy shows during the week. I called to check in seating and the guy said I could pay at the box office when I got in. Took a Lyft from my hotel and decided why not go see a show solo, as awkward as that sounds. The place seemed tiny from the outside but was actually a decent sized theater inside. I got there early so went around the side to a small bar area where they had live music playing. Grabbed a spot at the bar, ordered a beer and enjoyed the music. Writing a separate review of that place, since I didn't realize it wasn't part of the comedy club (guess it's a combined concept, like when a McDonalds attaches to Gas Station). Once I was ready, I got in line and gave them my ticket. They locked my phone up (minor inconvenience but understood why - sorry for lack of photos), and then looked at a seating chart. I was walked to a table about 5 rows back. They had a menu and waitress, who was certainly speedy at her job. The tables were pretty tiny so I wouldn't suggest ordering a ton of food at once. Beers on tap were ok (fat tire, shock top, coors light, Stella and a seasonal). Lots of mixed drinks. For the show, they had the MC (who was actually funny as shit), a follow up female (Joy Champion?) who was ok, another larger dude who joked about weed and being overweight and then their headliner. I enjoyed the entire thing. So my side rant: I thought Brandt said he was married but then his jokes went towards hotel sex and he kept mentioning his "girlfriend". So I got confused. Clearly, these actors and comedians are here to get laid, and I got that vibe as he continued his sketch. Anywho, got my phone unlocked after the show and that's when you could mingle with the talent. I didn't find it necessary to do that (think the headliner was signing copies of his book, and probably finding a lady to take back to his hotel room). I ended up getting a Lyft and back to my hotel. 5 stars for the experience and just not thinking about life. Good escape. read more

Stopped in last night for an early show seeing Bobby Collins. I've been here a number of times over the years. It's located at Landmark so there are lots of places to eat and grab some drinks before or after, although comedy works has both drinks and snacks as well. The staff is super friendly, we were seated pretty quickly and had great service. The opening acts where my favorite. Bobby Collins.. not so much. This is such an easy place to get in and out of, it's definitely part of my regular comedy rotation. read more
