The younger, female bartender was friendly and very attentive which is why I am rating 2 stars instead of 1 star. Karaoke is great here, the bartenders are always friendly, and the crowd is always a wildcard. I recently moved from Austin, where I had a dive bar in my neighborhood - 7 nights a week karaoke. Whispers were the only place I could find, and I live downtown! The drinks are great! The crowd is always mixed, and the list is always pretty decent. This place is not a place that I would even tell an enemy to go too.It is dark outdated,dingy and dirty looking the chairs rickety and seem unstable. Now let's talk about the service or lack there of.I went to the bar after realizing that no one ask me if I would like a drink first the bartender totally ignored me when I came back to order he picked up a drink from the bar and proceeds to walk around for 10 minutes. Needless to say I never ordered anything and if they were trying to chase me away they succeeded. Making sure I tell every one I know what horrible service this hell hole has. read more

Hands down the best karaoke in the Rockies, possibly west of the Mississippi. Amazing crowd is always so welcoming no matter who you are. Performances can be showstopping (pretty sure every KJ here has a degree in musical performance) but even if you can't sing a note, the crowd will be super supportive. Extremely kind and no nonsense bar staff. Surprisingly good fried rice and meat pizza (which they openly share come frozen from Costco, yet hit the spot in a pinch). I was visiting the Denver area to help my daughter with her kids. After 2 weeks of babysitting, I was invited to take a break from taking care of my grandchildren, one 8 months and the other 3 years of age. We went to have fun at "Whispers On Havana" a karaoke bar. We sat outside on the only picnic bench on the property. Note this would not have happened if I was sitting at a table but seeing there was a bench they provided at the establishment I thought it safe because they have it out on their property and nothing should go wrong. Well, I was having a wonderful time then when the karaoke show start inside. I attempted to gather up to get my things and as I was getting up from the picnic table my leg got stuck on the wooden bench. I fell and broke a rib. I am pretty tough so I thought I could shake it off as well as try to be considerate and not cause any scenes with the management. A day later I was taken to the ER and found out the horrible pain I was feeling was a broken rib. After a couple of days of being on pain meds and my head cleared up, I went home at which time I called the "Whispers On Havana" management about the incident, they recalled the accident. I ask for the incident report and they said they didn't file one and then they proceeded to insinuate that after I had fallen down I ask for another drink, leading to say that I was drunk and that's why I fell. Which is not true, first of all, I had 2 beers and after falling I was trying to get a hold of why I was in some much pain I ordered one more beer for my daughter and a glass of water for myself but yet I had to defend myself for doing so at a place that is what they do sell alcohol. I closed out the tab and if that's how they judge their customers who spend good money but, of course, we aren't judged at the time that we are buying the alcoholic beverages from them, but in this case, they decide to turn it into their defense. I would warn anyone that wants to have a couple of drinks and a good time to be careful if you go there because they won't take care of you if break a rib or worse, on their property. They'll just tell you to get a lawyer, try to file a claim with their insurance company, and good luck...not. The bottom line is if someone falls and breaks a rib or something similar on their property due to a piece of their furniture, that is made for a park setting being placed in a dimly lit area it was even hard for other people to get up and off the picnic bench, yes my daughter almost fell and she is 29 years. Also, I know if that were to happen in my home, let alone my business I would be legally responsible for the health and well-being of my visitors and or patrons and responsible for all injuries to be handled in a in a professional manner. So now I'm looking at a $13,000.00 ER bill and this business is back to business as usual. So people if you are from that area or a tourist be careful there is no one looking out for your health and well-being at this establishment or possibly any establishment in the state of Colorado. Meanwhile going on a month later I'm still in horrible pain, forgotten and accumulating more medical bills not to forget not able to go to work whatsoever. Bottom line, if you want to have a good time, and a couple of drinks don't go to Whispers On Havana because frankly, they do not care about you they only care about the money they get from you and have no sense of responsibility, no compassion if you are injured in horrible pain and losing money caused by improper seating arrangements on their property. Cheesiness all the way around. Ain't it good? Ain't it right? That there are cheese curds here at Whispers tonight? Karaoke's playing, the green chile is fine (is fine, is fine, is fine). So my old karaoke buddy is here from out-of-town and we all meet up, old singin' friends together again at Whispers. My first time here. I ordered a beer (nothing fancy here, but at least they had a Fat Tire) and then asked the waitress what she recommended to eat. Without a hitch, she said they have the best green chile. We ordered a plate of nachos with the green to share. They were decent. What really stood out was the salsa. Awesome kick to it made delicious with fresh tomatoes and plenty of cilantro, which I like. Then, there was cheese. Cheese curds. They arrived as a melted pile of cheesey goodness spread out on half of the plate, perfectly browned on top, with sliced apples as an accompaniement. "What's this?" I ask myself. Pull up some hot, melty cheese, wrap it around a slice of apple, bite. Close your eyes as you savor the light, nutty flavor of the cheese against the slight tartness of the apple. Bite again. Move the plate closer to you and hope that your table-mates are next up to sing. Eat it all up before they get back from the stage. This dish made me very happy. Even though Whispers is on the other side of the world from where I live, I can now make excuses to drive over to Aurora to have a cold one and that little plate of cheese heaven. Whispers? Quite the opposite, actually. There's noting quiet or soft-spoken about Whispers- it's a fun, loud karaoke bar with a stage, lights, and an awesome KJ (karaoke jockey, FYI)! I went to Whispers for a friend's birthday party, and this place did not disappoint! We had so much fun singing karaoke and enjoying each other's company. Besides the karaoke aspect, Whispers is your basic, run-of-the-mill bar. The karaoke is really what sets it apart. I couldn't tell you much about the bar or food since I was the Designated Driver and stuck with water all night. Staff is friendly and encouraging of people who are brave enough to sing their favorite songs for friends and strangers alike. Bathrooms are clean and accessible. If Whispers weren't so far from home I'd definitely come back and do karaoke more often! read more

I wish to correct the record from my previous review, and state the problem has been fixed! Service is now terrific. We visited again Thursday, May 3, and heard Pamela's terrific music set. We sat down and within 2 minutes our order was taken. Then, less than 2 minutes later our brews arrived at our table. That's terrific, especially considering Whispers was at capacity Thursday eve with the great live music. Re-orders were also promptly taken and filled. Staff was working hard to keep the beverages flowing, and their effort is appreciated! And to have such dance able music as Pamela's show was a bonus. Ok I was already kinda smashed when I got here but Im pretty sure it was awesome. Has a rustic-cabiny feel, I could sit here all day long it is so cozy. There are only 2 or 3 beers on tap, cant remember what they are. We played trivia and there werre A LOT of geriatrics there, they were aceing us at trivia bad. I guess they also frown upon cheating on your cell phone here. Weak. I ordered a quesadilla which Im told was good, I don't really remember devouring it though. Lastly we had some delicious chocolate cake shots here. Lady knew how to make em up right. I shall return. P.s. the bathrooms smelled delightful and lotion was provided (love that). read more

OK, so we purchased a certificate on line for this place and decide to give it a try. First thing you notice when you walk inside is it's rustic and small. I think there were more chairs at the bar than tables in the dining area. It's not the kind of place to take that special someone on that special occasion. We have the certificate so we stayed to take a look at the menu. Things began to look better once we saw the prices. Not bad! We decided to order lunch, how bad could it be, after all we do have the certificate. If words like homemade, fresh, decent portions, hand cut fries, and delicious are what you covet, then give this place a try. Ice cold beer on tap, lunch for two, and a Caramel Apple Blossom Ala Mode for dessert for under $20.00 with the certificate. We will be going back to sample some of that green chili and the Wisconsin Cheese curds with sliced apples. Staff is out of this world friendly. Could have easily given four stars but the place is a little rustic and very small. Add some outdoor seating and this place becomes a five. read more
