I had a Zales promotional plan expire on September 25, 2020 with a balance of $6,400. Unknowingly aware of the promotional date had expired I paid my payments like always. In October again made my payment as normal unknowing of the expiration date. I was dealing with a family member with COVID-19 which most of my focus was on. It was a human error for me to over look the expiration date. I attempted to make my payment this month November 2020 when I accrued over $4600 of finance charges that had been applied to my account for a total balance of $11,000. I did everything in my good will to attempt to clarify the situation and settle the situation. I received no assistance and no compassion for my situation. I made numerous phone calls throughout the weeks and also spoke to many supervisors who refused to assist me in my situation. I spoke with a representative Escence on 11/20/2020, who informed me the account has been reviewed after numerous interactions over the phone and complaints. I was offered that the account would be settled for the balance before the promotional plan expired. The representative informed she would call me back with further information. I missed her call and attempted to call back and was informed by a secondary representative the same day that they could not assist me and they did not approve for a settlement. I paid my balance to current status. I was left as a paying revolving good standing customer to be ashamed to have worked with such a bank that would treat there customers with such dishonesty. It appalled me that I was informed one thing and then later informed a supervisor did not approve it. If I could state Commenity Bank has been very unprofessional in that manner and also was unwilling to cooperate to resolve such a minimal situation. I hope know body else has to go through what I had to go through in such tough times. read more

When I opened a Talbot's charge, I had no idea it would be through Commenity bank. Every time I go in to pay my bill, they say they don't recognize the device I'm using and I have to ask for an I.D. number. This usually takes 5 or 10 minutes to receive. I discovered that I have to sit there and watch for it because if it comes in and I miss seeing it, it times out and I can no longer use it. Then I have to ask for another I.D. number and wait all over again. It is much easier to use a Visa card to purchase from Talbot's and that's what I plan to do from now on. read more

I have had two extremely frustrating experiences with customer service. I received a $90 reward for my Victoria card that did not work. I happen to work for Victoria's Secret so I know that sometimes they issue bad cards. I called and explained the situation and the man on the phone insisted the issue was I mixed up my zeros and o's when typing in my code. I explained that 1) we scanned the code in store and 2) there is no way because my coworkers type these for their jobs when scanning does not work. He then asked if I tried to reach out to the rewards department and I had to explain to him that he is the department that handles this. He then kept putting me on and off of hold for half an hour and I had to hang up because I did not have time. I called back a few days later and explained to another representative what was going on and she was extremely short and rude. I am in customer's service so I go out of my way to be polite and usually give these agents the benefit of the doubt but she was so unprofessional. At the end of a 20 minute call I was told she could only help me if I ordered my items online which is not how the rewards work and I wanted to use it for semi-annual sale. It makes me want to cancel my card for the store I work for because the bank they go through is so terrible. read more

This outfit is basically a shadow business. My best advise is to NOT OWN ANY of the credit cards this outfit manages. That may mean several of your cards -- so be it! There are many smart ways of handling credit cards. The best ones are cash back cards run by well known companies -- NOT Comenity (Bank). We never heard about this crumb job until their kitchen operatives ($9 an hour people) began ringing our phone. How did we handle it? Simply enough, we declined giving their geeks ANY asked for information about us. Hey, these were complete strangers harassing us with repeated nuisance calls (initially) leaving messages (of a menacing tone). Then what? Tell them that ONLY written documentation that is sent through the snail mail will be considered. It's common sense that this is the ONLY way such business would be conducted. If you owe money on any credit card they manage, the store (Kohl's for example) in question will notify you -- by mail! Comenity will continue to harass you! Then what? Hey, get tough! If you do not have it in you to do this, I highly suggest you find someone to answer your phone and tell Comenity callers to GET SCREWED!!! This worked for me. One final option is to get a layer to handle this and sue Comenity -- preferably in a class action! Further, there are many other concerns who will haunt you with telephone calls and threaten both your wallet and sanity. Your BEST DEFENSE is to NEVER answer your phone when you do not recognize the caller. This holds true for your elders who are prime prey to Comenity and other scammers. If you don't have it, get Caller ID. Have your relatives, friends and acquaintances familiar with making their calls known to you. Hopefully, we'll soon have filters that will keep these devils off of our lines permanently -- no matter how often they change their number or call fashion! read more

I was a client of American Laser Skincare (ALS). ALS was a spa chain that closed its doors in the middle of the night, without warning, in early December of 2014. I later found out that they filed for bankruptcy (Case# 14-12685). I bought several spa packages from them and financed them through Comenity Bank. I paid Comenity Bank in full for these packages in early June of 2014. When I disputed the charges, Comenity Bank told me that they had already paid ALS for these packages so I asked them to send me a letter stating this so I could file a claim against ALS in bankruptcy court. I made my first request for a letter in December of 2014. We are now in the month of March of 2015 and I still have not received that letter. read more

Just the worst rewards program out there hands down! Bad customer service and inept people. I was purchasing an outdoor dining set from Pottery Barn so I opened an account because of the rewards program. A week later I received a coupon which would have saved me $600 so I went to the store to see what they could do about it. They would do nothing so I cancelled the order and purchased it again using the coupon. Now I have two charges on my credit card account of over $8,000. Still haven't received the furniture yet they are charging me interest on two purchases even though one was cancelled. Going back to the store tomorrow to try and figure out why the cancellation is not showing on my credit card account. Nothing but headaches! Once I get this straightened out and get my rewards certificate (fingers crossed on that) I will pay the balance and close the account! read more

DO NOT GET A ZALES CARD, IT IS A SCAM, TRAP, HIJACK, MAGIC ACT, BAMBOOZLE, HOOD WINK, FRAUD, & A JOKE!!!! I got a zales card to get my wife's engagement ring & regretted it instantly. I too was tricked with the fake 18 months promo, I had ABSOLUTELY NO KNOWLEDGE that I was on an 18 month promo that when it expired all of the interest charges hit my account...... $2600 worth. It happened on March 2nd, I called about it March 4th & fought with them until May 11th. I lost! They would not remove the charges & told me it was on my statement, when I first got the acct, they called me numerous times to ask me to go paperless & even gave me the first month free for doing so. So I paid my monthly bill via the website & never looked @ the statement. But it never showed up via email, text, or calls like they did to try to sell something. I was even given a limit increase when I didn't ask for one. They know that people with good credit will want to keep it that way & basically Wil have to pay the charges to keep your credit in good standing. Do not deal with zales & comenity.net!!!!!! Go to any other jewelry store. If zales had a Rolex on sale for $1 I wouldn't buy it. They will NEVER SEE A DIME FROM ME. Once I pay this off I'm canceling the card & destroying it in a blazing fire.!! read more

Unfortunately dealing with this rip off bank . Paid off a credit card for my elderly mom. They told me the amount she owed over the phone . So I paid that amount in full . A few weeks later they sent me a balance of $2.13 or something like that . No new purchases. So I ignored it as I paid them in full based on what they told me . Now they are adding fees and late charges on to the $2.13. Get your figures right. It's not that difficult . read more

Do not open a Comenity MasterCard, I'm surprised the government has not investigated them. I too received a late fee in the amount of $29.00, mail late due to a holiday. This card is associated with Ulta in Ramsey, will not patronize this store due to there association with this bank. read more

Absolutely horrid experience. If you don't want to hand over your banking information and you mail in your payments they will always be marked late (Add in a "finance charge fee and a "late fee") and if you pay in store, the part time high school staffer doesn't know what to do with your check you wrote so feel comfortable handing that over to also be processed "late". There goes another late fee and finance charge. When you call to dispute, you end up on the phone with some rep who obviously hates people and argues at length with you even when you are being reasonable and patient. I cannot believe they are in business. I returned my products, am still disputing their charges because they have ALONE made my credit drop over 100points in a month with this sneaky trick. Unbelievable scam. RUN FAR AWAY. Buy online from outlets not through this crap. So not worth it. read more

I would like to thank Comenity Bank from the bottom of my heart. Got a loan to get dental work. After being mistreated at horrible dental practice, I decided to not go through with the dental work. After months of trying to get a refund via the practice with no luck, I reached out to Comenity Bank and got my money refunded back to my account within a week! Their customer service is great! I wish I had read these reviews before doing business with this folks, cause they are the worst. I'm a student and fell for "Tuition Solution" short term no interest plan they advertised at my school. My loan payments were never late, but when the special deal ends, the new interest rate was practically robbery. So as any respectable person, I called to explore options. Customer service is horrible. When I called to inquire about the potential of arranging alternative payment plans, the whole mood & attitude of the conversation changed as I was practically threatened and I felt like I was being treated like a criminal or some deadbeat, definitely not a valued customer. As the deadline approached for the special loan program, they wouldn't offer any other options, so I entered into another loan with a different bank that had excellent flexible plans for students, great customer service and paid these crooks off and closed the account to avoid any of their threats of ruining mine and my grandmother's credit who signed for the account to help me while finishing school. Look around, they are sooooo many better companies to work with that appreciate your business and treat you like a customer, not a crook for asking questions. They should change the name of the bank from Comenity to Comedy, cause they are the joke the banking industry. read more

Tina W must be one of the agents at this bank. I got their card thru Gander Mountain. I thought it came with ZERO interest for a year. But when I saw the interest charges on my statement I called in. They said it was ZERO ONLY for the weapon I purchased. Everything after would be at 20%. 20%??!!! I said I would stop using the card. The rep said she would make it 16%. I said OK. A month later and the interest rate is STILL at 20%! She lied to me. "If you like your health care plan you can keep it" I guess lying is okay now. read more

Avoid doing business with Comenity capital bank. They are unethical and prey on the unsuspecting. I purchased hearing aids and was offered a no-interest loan if paid off on time (healthiplan credit). 18 mos of on-time payments left a $10 balance. The $10 was tacked on so that the total would not be paid off within 18 mos. I paid the $10, but was charged $1500 in deferred interest. They gave me plenty of warning on the bills, but I neglected to pay attention to the details. If you use them, pay attention! I will never use them again. read more

In this bank you are never right as a customer!! The worst bank service ever! I am dealing with Comenity bank as a Kay Jewelers customer. I made a purchase of $469 and paid it off immediately, but it did not posted for two billing cycles and my account was charged for interest twice. I was communicating with bank and KAY for these two months, but they never accept their mistake. Firstly they said you have to talk to KAY regarding this, and after two months when my payment finally posted I asked them for a refund for those charged interests, but they only respond like a "machine" describing how interest will be charged to accounts without considering my specific situation. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to follow up with this anymore, so I give up, but I will never purchase a single thing from KAY to avoid this stupid costumer service. I wish zero rate was also available on yelp! I also had a bad experience with KAY jewelers, which I'll post separately. read more

Turned down at a Lane Bryant Store for a credit card with a 994 Credit Score out of 999. The only reason I applied was for a discount on my purchase. Received two letters stating I did not meet their requirements. Really? If you can't approve a 994 Credit Score with little debt, no monthly credit card payments all paid in full each month, no "too many recently reported past due installment accounts" (I would not have a 994 score, if this was correct), "percentage of accounts opened in the last 12 months is too high". Would love to know about these accounts. Credit report doesn't reflect this. NO THANK YOU, I WILL NOT BE REAPPLYING AT A LATER DATE. Looks like from the reviews, YOU NEED the BUSINESS MORE than THE CUSTOMERS NEED YOU. read more

Very poor customer service. I have been with Comenity Bank through Caesars Rewards for many, many years. All payments have been made and on time. For some reason the payment I electronically scheduled for July did not go through. I found out, due to my card being declined, only 7 days after the payment was due. I immediately, resubmitted the payment over the phone because that is the right thing to do. THEN I PROMPTLY CANCELLED THIS CARD. Their call center is now in the Philippines and they are unable to understand or speak English properly. I believe she was telling me that I need to wait a full billing cycle for my card to become active again? Really!?! Somebody who has NEVER missed a payment. Oh, here is how much this third party phone room cares about Comenity customers. She asked me why I'm closing my account and I replied, "I'm not very pleased with you right now." She replied, "Okay, I just closed your account." Don't know if it would have helped, but maybe it would have. There was no transfer to retention or anything to make the customer happy. Very Sad company and very poor customer service. I will now be getting the MasterCard through MLife Rewards! read more

I DO NOT have an account that is any way connected to this bank! Yet, I receive multiple phone calls (sometimes several times a day) from varying area codes/phone numbers with a recorded message telling me there has been a change in "my account" - probably a late fee, I'm guessing - and that I should call them immediately. I never get to talk with a human to ask them to stop calling me because I have NO account with their bank. Someone in authority really needs to do something about this horrible organization. I'm quite sure they are scamming people out of their money, and other illegal activities. And from the reviews I'm reading, they are doing JUST THAT!! STOP CALLING ME, you jerks!!! read more

I'm a 66 year old widowed fixed income senior living in Deltona, Florida. I was told that I needed hearing aids. Now, these hearing aids are not cheap, by any means ($3400.00). The ear to hear facility that I had the "free" hearing test performed, recommended that I go with a credit card, HealthiPlan, in which I could purchase the hearing aids and pay the full amount back within one year at no penalty. I paid the full amount of $3400.00 back within 2 months. Well, Comenity Bank tells me that I still owe $28.00!!!??? Why do I owe $28.00 if I paid the balance off within the one year? Paid off in 2 months to be exact! Is this a bait and switch operation? Are they taking unfair advantage of Seniors that need medical devices? Unbelievable! It's like they tell all of us Seniors be careful of scams. My dad use to say if it's to good to be true, then it's not. Think twice and don't learn the hard way! read more

Horrible Customer Service - Ann Taylor Credit Card I had been an Ann Taylor customer for years. I had not shopped there recently. I purchased $150.00 worth of merchandise and put it on a credit card. They could not find my old account and opened a new account. When the bill came, I paid it online, using my old account number at Ann Taylor. I received a notice it was not paid so I called customer service. Everything is handled by mail and therefore, I went to my bank, got a copy of the transaction and mailed it in. Ann Taylor/Comenity Bank said they would get back to me within three months! Long time to resolve this! Today I received a letter stating that the money was returned to my account and they were contacting the credit bureaus. I now owe over $220.00, not the $149.98. This has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I will no longer be purchasing anything from Ann Taylor. It's a shame, that they do not have someone to speak to that could have had this immediately resolved. I was acting in good faith and thought this was paid. read more

DO NOT EVER USE COMMENITY BANK! I should have done a better job at researching this company before I opened an account with them. The BBB has had 2025 complaints filed with them and have an F rating. They have 109 negative yelp reviews in this last year alone and not one positive other than from an employee. I have had two credit cards through them since April 2017. Not once have I made a late payment. Not once. I lost my job in January of this year. Because of my age and disability, I have yet to find another. On an income of $814 per month, I still faithfully continued to repay ALL of my debts which leaves me with $18 per month for food and gas. I Uber each morning for that. How is my loyalty returned? By lowering my credit limit from $700 to $100. This has now done more damage to my credit because it looks like I have gone $500 over that $100 limit. What's even more confusing is I have two cards through the same company. My limit was raised on the one and lowered on the other? That makes now sense. None at all. The decrease was explained due to the following 1. Presence of a bankruptcy 2. No useable real estate accounts 3. Time since oldest revolving account opened too recent 4. Available credit on open revolving accounts too low 5. Significant decrease in credit score Let's take those one at a time, shall we? 1. I had the bankruptcy two years before I was given this card, so if this was an issue, why was I given the card to begin with. 2. I had no real estate accounts at the time I was issued this card, so once again, why was this card issued if that was a requirement? 3. The new account is a medical account. How can any medical bills into consideration? As a property manager, we are not allowed to do so, how is this company can do that? 4. My available credit is low, because I have had to depend on these to live. If you would have Yet in all this time, not one of my creditors have listed a late payment. Not one. 5. My credit score was lower than this when I applied for this card, yet I was issued two! After speaking with three of their representatives, I was told by all three that the credit bureau reached out to them and made the suggestion to lower my limit. I call liar, on that one. I was also told that the only way they would remedy this would be if I applied for an increase or to close my account. Guess what! I have now closed out both accounts. read more

Stupid bank.I advice you not to have business with them. I opened Bath Bed & Beyond credit card in August 2018, used it several times, even did not make a first payment, then I applied for Ikea Credit card. I did not have an idea that both of them were issued by the same Comenity bank. While I was applying, my credit score was 700, and then after I applied the score went down to 660, and this stupid bank sent me a letter stating that they close both of my accounts because my score went to 660. I tried to explain them that that happened because I had applied for their cards. The rude lade on the phone told me that they could even close my account after 6 months if my score went lower. That is ridiculous. Never happened to me. Ikea, BB&B need to consider the bank policy who issues their credit cards!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This is one of the worst customer service experiences I've every dealt with and will never support any products that are affiliated with this bank. I bought something at Pottery Barn on the card and was supposed to get 12 months 0 interest financing. Someone at Comenity or Pottery Barn screwed up our order and it took two months to resolve. Did we get full 12 months zero interest from that point? No. We got 10. Only we were told differently by an employee at Comenity. When this was explained in February (after a giant $500 interest charge on a $200 balance), I was told it needed to go to a review board. The review board promptly denied my claim. The fact that this organization can be run with such disregard to its customers is appalling. Whatever you do, do not expect to be treated right by this bank at all and if I was Pottery Barn I would drop them for a better run bank like Citi or Chase. read more

I've had my New York & Co. card for 2 years and now while stores are closed, it gets canceled for inactivity. With no communication whatsoever, no email, no paper mail stating it was going to be closed. Seriously?! I called their customer service to inquire as to why, especially since I have another store card issued by the same bank which seems to still be open and fine (both which have a $0 balance). The representative on the phone first tried to tell me it was because the credit bureau notified them of "significant changes to my credit", which is untrue. There have been no significant changes to my credit. The only reason I found out the account was closed is because I have credit monitoring that notified me and it also dropped my score 2 pts when they closed the account. I still have good credit and I double checked after the call just in case, but all is well. So then she tells me that it was due to inactivity. How can I shop for clothes if there are no stores open during a pandemic??????? Wow.... needless to say I will not be re-opening the account and as for the other card with the same bank, I will be evaluating whether or not I should close that one. What a horrible way to do business, especially when so many other banks are going out of their way to be helpful during this time. read more

If there was anything lower than 1 star, I WOULD GIVE IT! I have no credit cards whatsoever. I get a phone call from a rep at Comenity Bank asking for someone else (Yeah, NOT me...). I told them that they called for this specific individual and I am not that individual and the rep literally wanted to harass me and wanted me to contact that individual. She talked over me, she laughed at me and raised her voice after I told her if she could get my number from public record ((and why because Ive got nothing to do with this company -- NO credit cards and I'm not this individual)) then she could call the person she was intending to call. The matter was none of my business and this rep wanted to get me involved and to contact the individual for her - isn't this some sort of osha or hipaa violation?! Rude and unnecessary !! DO NOT USE THIS BANK! This person who worked at Victoria's Secret was so eager to get me to sign up for the credit card and whenever I did I wasn't able to because I had no source of income. Fast forward I had the card and paid on time for 5 months straight but I found it odd when it was time to make a payment the money off my card would be gone and the bank would call and tell me that my online payment wasn't accepted and the momey would be put back onto my card. It happened to the point where the customer service rep wanted to take my card information over the phone and my payment was due at midnight. My account was closed in February of this year and I have not used the card since due to me losing it but I'm still being charged late fees and it increases. This is just horrible as I can't understand how this can even happen. I had a PB designer come to the house in October 2017. I ended up buying a sofa and a table she suggested. When the table arrived, it was way too big, so I made a return in December 2017. I haven't seen the money for several weeks so I called and I was told that I received a refund of $100! I had to submit my receipt in order to start the claim. Today, I received a letter from PB that the claim has been closed and $100 has been credited to my account. I am still missing $379! I have been on hold many times today wanting to speak to a supervisor, but with no results. At this point, I have no idea what to do. I just want my money back. read more

This company is absolute the worst around! They gave me credit for Wayfair Ikea. I applied for credit with Ikea and my auto fill put in a different name so once I noticed this error I did the right thing. I called comenity and told them the issue. Automatically, they put a red flag on my approved accounts and denied me for any other account I applied for or wanted to get. Then they requested documents to prove my identity so I sent everything in they wanted. They received everything and they still ended up closing my approved Wayfair and Ikea accounts. Not to mention these applications have put a ding on my good credit score with no given credit limits with comenity bank. Their so-called employees need more training or new employees that know how to work their position right. They have poor customer service skills as well with no worry about their potential customers. Here's what you need to know about Comenity Bank. Read it very carefully before ever deciding to get a store card issued by this entity. Really, please take warning. Comenity is the issuer of store cards for a long list of VERY VERY FINE merchants, specialty stores, regional department store chains and the like. It saddens me to see so many stores get unfairly tarred and feathered as a result of this Bank's deceptive and predatory credit card practices. I got a Peebles Store Credit Card issued by Comenity Bank several years ago. Pebbles is a great store, love them and have no complaints. They offer all sorts of incredible discounts, specials and such with the use of the Peebles Card. Problem is Comenity Bank the issuer for the Peebles card. Got the card to take advantage of the specials and discounts. I no longer use it. High interest rates and related problems with this Bank make a store card issued by Comenity a no no. Don't take the risk to your credit with Comenity. Number 1. They (comenity) seem to hold their bills long after the issue date before mailing them to the customer. In my case the first bill was received on a Friday 11 days before the due date. Eleven days left on a 30 day billing cycle?! Where was the bill for the first 19 days of the billing cycle? Was it a mistake, mail delay? No it was not. It is a repeated practice I found with my bills. I called the same evening I received the bill to make a payment by phone - and found Comenity charged a FIFTEEN DOLLAR penalty (they call it a fee) for a payment by phone! Are you kidding, 15.00 to make a phone payment? No, unfortunately its true. No thanks, dropped it in the mail box that night, paid the full small balance of $56.00. Over a month later with the next bill (that was also held for several weeks before mailing it to me) I received a $35.00 late charge. How? I mailed it 11 days before the due date. Coincidence that the bills came on a Friday? Nah, based upon the assumption that the account holder won't pay the bill until the next week further cuts against you on the impending due date. Number 2. Once they (Comenity) receives your payment they claim it takes a week to "process" your payment - the implication being that it takes a week to see whether your check clears. The claim that it takes a week to "process" payments from their end is their way of hiding the fact that they wait a week BEFORE depositing your payment into their account. So, by holding the bills for two weeks and then claiming to takes at least a week to "process" your payment you are hard pressed to avoid a late charge. But why should it take a week to "process" payments? Number 3. It doesn't. The Fed rules have changed to instant, overnight processing by the Federal Reserve Bank. There used to what was known as a float with checks. That no longer exists with the change in the Fed (federal reserve) rules. Now, the very day they deposit your the check it is cleared (or bounces) electronically at the Fed Reserve Bank. It doesn't take a week. Those check clearance days are long since gone. The Fed (that is the bank that processes checks between the member banks) now does it that very day, electronically. There is no wait and no "process" delay - no float. Once Comenity deposits your check the Fed processes it in that day's work and they have your money instantly. So to skirt that - they hold your check for a week before depositing it to be processed by the FED. They call the practice of holding your check before depositing it "processing". I call it part two of their scheme to generate late fees. Number 4. To cover their tracks I found that the credit card bill from Comenity/Peebles contained NO ISSUE DATE or any trace of when it came out. Then, by using prepaid first class postage envelopes there is also no postmark or related date information on the envelope to see when it was actually mailed. So what happened to the bill during the first 19 days before you finally received it? Comenity won't answer that question and makes it is YOUR problem not theirs. Connect the dots, read the complaints and you'll see what Comenity is actually doing. Number 5. How can they "hold" your/my bills for long periods before mailing them to the account holder? Isn't that illegal? Sadly and unfortunately, it is not. They get away with it because they CAN get away with it and YOU the card holder are the unwitting victim. There is no current rule that prevents the card issuing bank from simply holding or sitting on your bill before mailing it - so they do it and profit VERY heavily from the late charges. By not dating their bills you never get an exact answer as to the issue date from Comenity - that is how they cover their tracks. Since the Banking rules don't address the questionable practice of holding bills they get away with it. Conclusion - avoid this Bank read more

Comenity Bank may change billing cycles and due dates without notice. This results in late charges regardless of balance. They would not credit my account even though my payment was late due to a change in their billing cycle. High interest rate on card. Comenity is often referred to as 'Chlamydia' Bank. Just like the STD, it causes pain!! read more

I had the misfortune of having my credit card account acquired by Comenity. Certainly, nobody in their right mind should never voluntarily open an account with them. Problems with them range from the irritating to what I would consider fraudulent business practices on their part. One only need look at other reviews to see the host of complaints. On the irritating side, they don't even have an app, so you have to log on to a webpage every time you want to do anything. What a waste of time and inconvenience! On the more serious side, I just spent nearly half a year fighting with them over a charge that I disputed back in May (2020). I made a purchase, had the merchant cancel, but then refuse to issue anything other than a credit. I disputed to the highest level with the merchant to no avail and, to my dismay, found the bank uninterested in pursuing this at all or taking my dispute seriously. So much for the online purchase protection that we supposedly have when making purchases with a credit card. All of my appeals to Comenity and the documentation I provided appear to have gone into the circular file. Their only response was to repeatedly tell me to contact the merchant. I tried to convince them that we should be on the same side, and should both be fighting the unethical business practices of the merchant, but it's clear that they have no interest in protecting the interests of their clients or their own business reputation. read more

I recently faced a challenging situation with Comenity Bank that has left me in a dire position, and I feel compelled to share my experience. I have been a customer of Comenity Bank, holding a DELL PAY credit card that unfortunately switched to Comenity Bank from Dell Financial Services. Unfortunately, after a dispute with their customer care representatives, my account was flagged for fraud when I was trying to request a letter from them that my mortgage company was requesting. Despite providing them with my driver's license, social security card, and W2, all with my current address, Comenity Bank permanently closed my account, citing an inability to validate my identity. The timing of this closure couldn't be worse, as it jeopardizes the closing of my mortgage, putting my home purchase at risk. I have invested significant time and financial resources into the closing process, and the consequences of this account closure are severe. What adds to the frustration is the lack of responsiveness and assistance from Comenity Bank during this critical period. The urgency of my situation is not being adequately acknowledged, and I am left in a state of distress. I sincerely hope that others can learn from my experience. If you're considering Comenity Bank for your financial needs, I would caution you to be aware of the potential challenges you may face, particularly in times of dispute or urgency. read more

Please be advised that these reviews are accurate. I have had my Victoria Secret card through Comenity Bank for several years. My card remained active when my credit score was at it's lowest and my credit card debt, with other creditors, was at it's highest. However, I remained in good standing with my Victoria Secret card. Now that my overall credit card debt has decreased drastically and my score has increased drastically I was notified, through CreditKarma, that my account with Comenity Bank was closed. I initially contacted Victoria Secret and was told that my account was closed due to findings with my credit report. Please keep in mind that in return this made my credit score drop 33 points! I contacted the credit bureau, with whom they reported me to, and was told that there was no findings on their end as to why Comenity Bank should have closed my account so I was asked if I wanted to file a dispute. In which I did so. I contacted Comenity Bank who only stated that they did so due to what was reported to them by the bureau. Huh?? I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and for anyone else who has suffered at their hands lease do so as well. You do so online and it is an easy and quick process. I will be taking further action if this is not resolved. read more

I applied for this credit card on the Wayfair website. Made payments on time, each month. Then in September they announced that they closed my account, because Wayfair doesn't work with them anymore. Good for Wayfair! Then in September I had financial difficulties because of this stupid pandemic time, and instead of making payment on 10th and made payment on 15th but I paid off my balance completely, it was $ 0. When they sent me a bill for $33 late fee, I called them I asked to remove that fee, because I made my previous payments on time, and I paid off my balance. I asked them why you charge fees on the account that currently has 0 and it's closed??! And I simply wasn't able to pay it on time I had financial difficulties. They didn't agree with that, I was super angry because in any other bank they would agree that it's the case there to remove late fee is appropriate but they didn't. I wasn't able to made that payment unfortunately. In December they sent me $68, so they added one more late fee. But thanks God I was table to pay it in December! I hope they will choke with these money. It's an evil company. And btw their automatic payment systems needs many improvements. Long waiting time on hold is another problem. read more

My response to their computer generated (no response) email. I am not satisfied at all!! I called Customer Service because I was trying to make a payment on my account on the day it was due and because it was 8:15 p.m. I was advised by your very rude overseas call center that I would be charged a $25.00 late fee. I then spoke to someone in the United States who again would not budge regarding this issue. This is highly offensive and perhaps a violation of the Fair Credit Act (I will investigate further). I find it distressing that although I paid well over the amount due on the due date (by a customer who has consistently paid well over the minimum due on my account each month) that Comenity would be so rigid and anti-customer service that they would insist on this policy, again from a customer who has always kept their account in good standing. I will pay the remaining balance due minus the $25.00 dollar fee you insist on charging and again will investigate this issue regarding the Fair Credit Act and will note a review on the major websites regarding your lack of customer service. read more

I have a few store cards that I have had for years, Jared, Talbots, and Coldwater Creek are the ones that Comenity has taken over from other banks. I got caught like many when this pandemic hit. I was waiting for a check to arrive from March 11 and couldn't get a hold of the company that it was due from as they were in CA and I am in FL. Come to find out they had been closed due to the Coronavirus. I explained this to Comenity and was told not to worry about it and they would give me a 2 month extension to pay. I finally got my check in July, I paid all of their accounts up to date and now I am being told that my Talbots card is being closed due to a low credit score!!! They knew what the issue was and still closed my account that didn't even have a balance on it as I haven't used the card since back in Dec. This is stupid and can't wait to pay off my others with this bank to never use them again. The kicker is I had others with them but the companies have gone out of business! If this is how they treat their business' as well I can see why they are no longer in business. read more

This company is in violation of the TCPA. They need to STOP CALLING. Comenity Bank has faced several allegations of violating TCPA. Here are some examples of TCPA violations: Calling at odd hours and contacting consumers late at night and early in the morning. Calling the consumer at their workplace and leaving a message about the debt with the person who answers the call. Calling and not identifying themselves or their purpose. Not identifying the entity to whom debt is owed. Calling and talking about the debt without first verifying if the consumer owes it or not. Not honoring a consumer's wishes to not call them; not honoring the Do-Not-Call-Registry. Threatening consumers with lawsuits that are not applicable to their case. Threatening and intimidating consumers with legal action where none is intended. Leaving messages containing details of the debt with people other than the consumer. This could include their relatives, co-workers, friends, and/or neighbors. Making details of the debt public and causing undue embarrassment to the consumer who owes the debt read more

BEWARE if you are thinking about using Comenity! DON"T DO IT! I pay my bills ahead of schedule every month. Yesterday, I received several calls saying my payment was late. I went on line to check out was going on and it clearly showed on my payment schedule that my next payment was due on April 4. Today is March 21! On top of that, they had charged me $90 in late fees!!! They have charged me these late fees for the past several months! No one ever answers the phone at customer service and they just recently allowed you to use a debit or credit card to pay your bill! If you need help and want to speak with an actual person, plan on taking the day off and committing to just trying to speak with someone. When I finally reached a person today, she said that the reason I was charged a late fee was because I paid ahead of my due date and they don't apply it! WHAT??? They will not refund the late fees! I am contacting the Attorney General and have filed a complaint with the BBB. read more

This institution,(very mental, unstable company!!!!) Literally insane! Doing the same thing over & over expecting different results in finance! Really disscuting that on average call about 7 times a day, starting at am and continuing all day long. on your day off every 2 hrs. Then they try scam calls. Using different numbers saying there someone else? And I can see it's the same number. Trying to check out our intelligence? All in reality, I'm all about helping others out that need a better life. They DO NOT about nothing about customer service in my! Experience. In our broken world today, we don't need this petty nonsense especially if your bill isn't due for another month! So I made a decision and will go to the store and pay my own bill and continue to block all there numbers from around the . And Report spam and harassment. No offense but the illegals are being Illegal. Have a positive day. read more

I had a terrible experience with Comenity Bank, and I would not recommend them to anyone. Their practices feel completely misleading and borderline fraudulent. I noticed unauthorized charges on my account, and when I contacted customer service, they were unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of resolving the issue, they kept transferring me between departments with no clear answers. It felt like they were intentionally avoiding taking responsibility. Their billing system is confusing, and fees seem to appear out of nowhere. Even after making payments on time, I was hit with unexpected charges that were never properly explained. What's most frustrating is the lack of transparency and accountability. A bank should provide security and trust, but my experience with Comenity has been the opposite. I strongly advise others to think twice before opening an account with them. read more

This bank appears to be unfairly charging customers. My wife opened a credit card through Sephora and made a purchase of about $65. We never received any billing statement. Later, the bank added a $40 late fee. I contacted customer service, and they agreed to waive $25 of the fee. I then paid the original balance plus the remaining $25 late fee. This issue occurred in November, and we believed it was resolved. However, in March, we received another call from customer service demanding around $200. They claimed that the original payment was one day late and continued adding additional late fees. Now, the customer service representatives are threatening legal action, which feels unreasonable given the situation. We made a good-faith effort to resolve the issue and paid what we were told was owed. This situation feels unfair and needs to be reviewed. read more

If I could give this company a negative amount of stars -0, I would. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I submitted a payment to them on the 12th of the month. They did not try to process the payment until approximately the 26th of the month and by that time, I thought they had already taken their money and have been paid. By the time I found out that they didn't receive the funds, I was marked late on my credit report and so I made another payment that they also didn't process in a timely manner and this time my credit report reflected that I was 60 days late ruining my credit report and my credit score. This has happened so many times that I am paying this account off next week and I will NEVER do business with Comenity Bank ever again!! read more

I got a lane Bryant credit card for my girlfriend. She bought bras from there all the time so I thought it was a good idea to save some money, boy was I wrong! I paid off my balance in December, then I was charged a $2 "finance charge" after paying off the card. Think my balance was 0, I didn't bother looking at statements until May. In May the balance was over $200 from late fees on the $2 finance charge. I paid all but one late fee and closed my account then ANOTHER $2 finance charge showed up a week after I paid off the account THE SECOND TIME. I called customer service and was transferred to the wrong people then transferred to a "manager" who didn't answer my questions and hung up on me. This company is the absolute worst! 100% a scam! read more

I am writing to express significant concern regarding recent charges applied to my account with Kay Jewelers and Comenity Bank. Specifically, I was recently subjected to unexpected interest charges. Upon switching to paperless billing, I was not notified that interest would subsequently be applied to the balance throughout the year. As a result, a full year's worth of interest was added to my statement. I am very dissatisfied with this process and the lack of clear communication regarding the financial implications of opting for paperless billing. I request an immediate review of these charges and clarification on how this interest was calculated and applied without prior notification. read more

They are scam!!! Do not trust these people. They reallyyy be on some Bullshit. Oh btw they have a 100% interest rate. If you have perfect payment history they will drag you through it! Be careful the experience I've had is non other. I've asked to speak with supervisor . No help from customer service or support. I just keep getting told there's nothing they can do. It is what it is. No documentation that this would be 100% interest no thing no communication I don't mind paying off the rest of my loan. Ammount. But do not tax me where it's impossible to get out of! They have terrible policy and live to drown people. Even those trying to do the right things read more

What a terrible credit card company! This place and GE Money Bank are the worst loan sharking credit card issuers out there. DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD FROM THEM. They issue mostly store credit cards for places like Victoria's Secret, and issue a handful of co branded cards that are impossible to obtain unless you have a 750+ credit score. They will nickel and dime you in fees, move around your billing cycles, and do whatever it takes to show you that you are nothing but a number to them. I called to close my account and they said why? I said they are the worst credit card I have, they said fine its closed. Not even a thank you for your business. Ack! read more

Comenity Bank/Wayfair is the worst credit card servicer on this planet. They regularly take over an hour to answer the phone and their website regularly requires a password change, that once completed, is not recognized. TWO attempts locks you out, and then you have to call a number nobody answers. Due to these issues and their sporadic reporting to the Credit reporting agencies, we needed an update to complete a disabled Veteran's refinance. It took 5 calls over 3 days to finally request a "Balance Letter" that is required to update their credit report. A day later the fax arrived showing the balance on the card as $XX.XX. WTF! read more

Do not trust this bank. Their products are designed in misleading ways -- burying important terms in fine print and creating blind spots through a lack of communication. Search them in consumer venues like CFPB or BBB and you'll see the same pattern of complaints. Customers are hit with thousands in surprise charges that are technically 'legal' only because they hide behind the fine print -- a classic trap. They operate under different names, such as Alphaeon Credit for medical expenses. If the product you're considering is linked to them, avoid it at all costs. read more
