The absolute worst experience with this bank on my Virgin America Visa card. They hold payments for over 10 days before clearing credit. They place arbitrary charge limits even when there is plenty of credit available on my card. I hope Virgin realizes that Comenity is in fact hurting their brand rep with their loyal customers like me. Chase is hands down the better cc bank. read more

If i could give this business a negative star i would. I missed ONE payment in the course of 6 years of having my card for one of the stores they finance, they persisted to call me 14 times. 5 times in one day, even after i asked them not to the week before. According to UDAP and FDCPA they are in violation. Once i actually got them on the phone, besides my customer service rep craig/curt the rest of them were extremely rude. Tyrone in collections the manager kept talking over me and was trying to justify that many calls, and then did not want to verify his address or number for the company once i mentioned i was going to the BBB with this, and retaining an attorney. This place is a joke. read more

Never again. Interest rates arbitrarily tripled on credit card despite no history of late payments or penalty fees and a good credit rating, Beware of this bank and their desire to gouge customers with sudden and capricious rate increases. read more

What bank in today's world doesn't offer automatic recurring payments? Clearly trying to scam their customers and hit them with late fees, interest, etc. Would never do business with this company ever again. It's too bad that Blue Nile partnered with them, because I thought Blue Nile was a good organization... read more

Today I was contacted by Ben Meister at Comenity Bank. I have a card through Comenity bank from Victoria's Secret. I was keeping up with the payments, and then my other bills kept increasing and I was no longer able to make this a priority. Having a roof over my head and food on the table became my priority. I was getting charged late payments and payments on top of that, I couldn't keep up. I spoke with someone else from Comenity whom was very understanding and told me he knows life can be tough. He offered to close my card so it wouldn't keep charging me and told me good luck and to take care of it when I had the chance. After that, I still get calls every single day about the card. None ever leave voicemails, but today, Ben Meister left one. He was very threatening and rude in his voicemail. I called back and explained that I've already spoken with someone about the issue and that I have no way to pay for it at this time. I told him I'm financial unable to. He said I AM able to, it's just that I don't WANT to. I said no, I would if I could, but I do not have extra money after my regular bills. He said, ma'am I'm not going to argue with you. You are able to, but you don't want to make it a priority. I stated again that I am not able to. He asked who makes the money then, and I said my husband, but even after he pays all of the bills, we do not have extra money. We barely make ends meet right now. He said, well I can see here that you were born in '93, so you are able to, you just don't want to. You can get an extra job, you can even get a second job, you just don't want to. I'm just lazy. At this point, I'm in tears, with my baby on my lap. I tried my best to speak through my crying voice and say, excuse me, I stay home with my baby while my husband works, I do not have the extra funds, let alone funds to put my son in daycare to get an extra job. Daycare alone is $400 per week, I wouldn't even have a paycheck left. I hung up, bawling, I couldn't get anything else out of my mouth without sounding like a crying mess. So, specialist Ben Meister, I may be 23 and look lazy to you because I am financially unable to get a job, but I raise our child and that is the most rewarding "job" someone can have. I hope to never be as miserable and disrespectful as you are. read more

I opened an account at the local Stage store. When I went back a month later asking to pay off my account since I had received no credit card or statement, I was told that it takes 6 weeks to get either one. A month later I received a call from Comenity Bank stating that my account was two months past due. I informed them that I had never received a card or statement. They gave me an address that I haven't resided at in 10 years. I told them this wasn't the address I provided and that the only way they got that address is from my credit report. I was told they would update my address and if I didn't receive a statement in two weeks to call an 800 number. Two weeks later no statement or card. I call the 800 number to be told that my P O Box had been changed but the old city and state were still listed. So my statement is still being mailed to the wrong address. In the meantime I look at my credit report to find that my credit score has dropped 100 Points due to Comenity Bank reporting my account past due 30-59 days!!!!! I'm furious!!!! Now because I opened a $200 account while buying winter coats for my grandsons, it will take me months to get my credit score corrected. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!... read more

I recently received a credit card through BJ's which uses Comenity Bank. The card was working great with no issues until today. I use my credit cards instead of my debit card for all transactions so that I can take advantage of the maximum bonus'. To keep my credit card utilization rate low and not affect my credit score, I will typically pay the credit card as I use it, sometimes making the payment in the same day as the transaction, but usually no more than 2 - 3 days after the transaction is made. I do this with multiple credit cards, and have never run into any issues. Today I went to use my BJs credit card and it was declined. I knew it had nothing to do the with limit as I was no where close to reaching the max. So I called to find out thinking that maybe there was some sort of fraud thing or perhaps the merchant code was giving an issue. I was told that because I had multiple payments pending, they temporarily froze my account. No one could give me a logical answer as to why this would happen and what sense this makes to freeze someone's account because they make payments. I kept getting told it was policy and there was nothing that they could do. I insisted that there had to be a way to lift this freeze and that this was the most absurd thing I have ever heard off. I asked for a supervisor and again was told the same thing. There is nothing they can do it is policy, that having multiple "pending" payments it will freeze my account. The girl representative then stated in a snotty way, that I am making these payments prior to the statement closing, making it seem like I was doing something wrong. My response was pretty clear with a so what, I have that right to make payments and again use multiple cards in the same way and have never run into this issue. I again insisted and pleaded that they lift the freeze and allow my transaction to go through, as I was attempting to purchase oil not only for myself but for my tenants, and it was a time sensitive matter. She continued to say she "understood" but it is policy and there is nothing she or anyone could do. Insisting and in my experience there is always something that can be done or someone that can do something, I asked to speak to another supervisor. A gentleman with Operations, came on the phone, and was to say the least not very pleasant. He too insisting that nothing can be done. I expressed that this is an obvious flaw in their system and the most absurd thing I have ever experienced. He then had the nerve to tell me to use one of my other cards, since there is nothing they can do. I also learned that the multiple payments that I have made and have come out of my account, although it reflects as posted on my end, I was informed that all my payments were "pending" and they have not posted anything to my account on their end. When I asked why would you accept my money, which is clearly out of my checking account, but not apply it to my credit card account, I was not given an answer and again was told "I'm sorry but there is nothing we can do". So they are taking/accepting my money with payments I have made, but holding it and not applying it properly and promptly to my account. I now lost the points/revenue that I would have generated from making this purchase with this particular credit card and fear that even if the freeze is lifted within the "24 hour timeframe" they gave me, that I will run into this problem again, especially with the holidays coming up, as I will not change the way I use my credit card. Overall, their customer service is terrible, unwilling to actually care to try and help and remedy the situation. They could not even acknowledge that they clearly have a flaw in the "policy" and system. I have read through the terms and there is nothing stating that they prohibit payments prior to the statement closing. When you log into the online account, they allow you to make payments in multiple different ways. I want to be sure this is not going to happen again, and I want the points that I lost from not being able to make the necessary transaction using my BJs credit card. read more

My 87 year old aunt buys her clothes from Blair. She is hard of hearing and partially blind. Her one and only credit card is for Blair through Comenity Bank. She is of the generation that would rather go hungry then be in debt. She recently received a letter from Comenity Bank that said they cancelled her account. Why? Did she ever miss a payment? NO! Was she ever late with her payment? NO! Apparently, they sent her a letter because her account was "missing vital information". When we called and said she had never gotten a letter, their response was, "She just has to reapply for the credit". Really? She has been a customer in good standing for over a decade and they supposedly sent one letter, got no response, and then cancel her account. No phone calls. No follow up letter. What vital information were they missing? They know her name, her SS#, where she lives, her bank account information. This upset her so much for no reason. This bank is the absolute worst! I can't image any of the major banks that I deal with doing such a thing. SHAME ON YOU! read more

I wish I could give them zero stars. Paid off my Kay Jewelers credit card in the store, told the gentleman to give me my total balance and I want to pay it off and cancel the account. He gives me my total of around $400, I pay it and he cuts up my card right in front of me I think to myself sweet one credit card done and paid off. NOPE lol Comenity Bank calls me 3 months later telling me I have over $100 in late charges, I explain the situation to the rep and tell her I canceled the account how in the world do I have late fees. After going back and forth with this employee for 20 mins she then offers that Comenity will take off 2 of my late fees but I would still have to pay 1 late charge. Still have no clue to why I ever had a late charge and why they couldn't just wipe the charge completely like really any other bank. I would never recommend doing business with this company and after reading all of the horrible reviews online I wish I would have done a little more digging into this company before choosing to do business with them. Horrible company. read more

I have had a Boscov's card for about 2 years now or so. Recently I have been having problems with making payments as I have not been working. I have been making what I can afford and in communication with Comenity Bank to advise. Recently I checked my account and they just lowered my credit limit without even telling me which I never heard of. Kohl's don't do that and works with you regardless. I made my payments and have $68.00 available credit. My card was declined in the store Saturday and did not know why. Now , I was told there was a Cease and Desist on my account which I never sent to them in writing. I only informed them to stop calling the wrong phone#. This company has communication issues and never informed me of this! I am going to file a complaint with consumer affairs and other agencies about these unfair business practices. There are a lot of complaints online about this company. They are not even a bank. I am a veteran of 25 years and probably will be paying off this credit card and never want to deal with this company again! They will call you repeatedly, even was calling my brother's phone# and not leaving messages. read more

I placed a order with Pottery Barn for furniture in October of 2014 and received a voice mail that my order was accidentally deleted. Order placed again on November 13th requesting 12 month free finance.Today is February 5th 2015 and I still do not have my furniture.(due now on Feb.9th) I was sent a bill on January 17th and was told I had to make a payment or I would be charged interest for non payment on furniture I never received. I also ask if my account was set up for the 12 month free finance and was told it was not and they would try to dispute that for me but not sure if they could fix it. Until I started to get payment confirmation emails for someone named Ruth Campbell, I had never heard of Comenity Bank. She has an account with Blair which is some kind of department store. Go Ruth!!!! She always pays her credit card bill. However, I don't know Ruth. I am sure she would not be pleased to find out that they send her payment confirmation email to me. Do not sign up for a card from this bank. I signed up for the card through Ideal Image. The Ideal Image web sight that goes through Comenity Bank, does not give correct information, it deceives and lies to you. When opening their statements, no where on the statements does it say a date when your package ends. Statements are supposed to have the ending dates on them, theirs do not. All theirs said was, Package Expiring soon, it never had a date. When informing Comenity Bank of this issue, all they did was take off the View Statement option and put a different link up, and then sent me a copy of all prior statements, after the fact that the package ended without me knowing. So now I have been charge as if I never had the package in the first place and when you are trying to resolve the issue, the charge you late fees when they told you they wouldn't. Do not sign up for this card. read more

Don't open a retail credit card if it is associated with this bank. I had/have(?) a Limited Card that I haven't made a purchase on since 2015 but am still dealing with the headaches from this crooked bank. They will give you the run around and you will be paying for things like magical late fees for an interest charge that you didn't know was going to be applied. After finally achieving a zero balance on the card, I have tried to close this account on four separate occasions. The customer service agent that I interacted with when trying to close my account in Dec notified me there was a balance on my card, but it was their mistake and it will be removed and my account closed. Days later Comenity Bank reported my account had a late fee and my credit score dropped. It has been nothing but a nightmare. I have never hated a company more in my entire life. I wish I could leave zero stars since they have done nothing to try to resolve these issues with me outside of empty promises from front line customer service staff. read more

I finally paid off my balance all at once a month ago, but because I submitted the payment "late", they still charged a late fee. When I called and confirmed that my payment went through, the representative said it did and failed to tell me that I would receive additional fees. Fine...i can halfway forgive that. However, because I was not aware of this late fee, the amount I had to pay back increased 3x, and now here we are a month later right back where I started. Why I was not informed of this until now is beyond me, I guess that way they could get even more money from me. I just want to be done with this credit card, it's a never ending cycle. Don't let the sales people persuade you into getting this credit card scam. They say you can just "pay it off right when you use it" (I DID), and i still have ended up throwing a lot of my hard earned money away. And not to mention mess up your credit... read more

I opened a Ulta Credit Card through Comenity Bank to receive a discount on my purchase. This was against my better judgement but sometimes it's hard to say you don't want to save $80 on a purchase. I never received a actual card in the mail, and the first bill I received had a late payment charge. I called Comenity on 9/21/2017 and explained to them what happened. I had already made the payment but apparently at the time I called them and my payment had cleared I received another late payment charge. So at that time, I made the late payment charge and asked them to close the account. My reference number was #685123. On 11/10/2017 I received another late payment bill in the mail. I called Comenity Bank the next day, 11/11/2017. Spent another 1/2 hour on the phone with them explaining the situation. This time I didn't pay anything, but they again said my account balance was $0 and given a conf. #695973. Yesterday, I received another late statement balance. So I called again this morning. The first time I called and gave all my information and I was put on hold. My call got disconnected. I called back and again gave all my information. I first spoke to Samantha. Then got transferred to Erica who I again repeated all my information to. I then got trasferred to Antonio (ID #A678713). I gave Antonio all my information again and told him that I didn't think they knew what they were doing there. Maybe they weren't fully trained. He said that wasn't true, but I beg to differ. The story goes on and on. Bottom line, think twice about trying to save yourself some cash by opening up any account that uses Comenity Bank. In the long run it may cost you more of your time and money. Hopefully this time my issue has been resolved. read more

I have a credit card at children's place that was through them. I made a purchase and within three weeks of my purchase, sent in a $250.00 payment to pay it off. This happened at the end of July. Weeks later I noticed the balance did not reflect the payment and my rewards had never been given. After multiple calls and having to send a copy of the cashed certified check with their stamp on the back showing they had cashed it, I was told they would put in a dispute. Now when I call even after talking to multiple "supervisers" no one can tell me the statues of the dispute or can't or won't give the number of the dispute dept. Meanwhile they are charging me over limit fees and showing my account past due! Now it has caused my credit to go Dow 2 pets. For over the limit status and no payments. What a pile of crap! When I ask them about taking of the late fees I don't owe they tell me if I want my account to show current I need to pay $41 more. Yea pay more money I don't owe to a company that I not giving me credit for the PAYOFF I already paid. The shear nerve and down right theft this company is getting by with is unbelievable! read more

Worst customer service ever! So I have a credit card for Victoria secret & this is the third time I got a letter saying my credit card account revealed potential security concerns and I need to call them or my account will be closed. Well the first time this happened they claimed to have mailed me a letter but I never got one. They just closed my account without my knowledge. When I called and asked why my account has been closed they said I never responded to the letter. I told them I didn't receive it and I didn't get an email. They had the nerve to say "we'll hold on let me check um it says here the post office delivered it to ur door" (my mail is delivered to my apts mail room btw). I repeated the same thing and she kept saying it was delivered. Anyway I was actually calling to dispute a late fee they had charged me which wasn't late. I've never made a late payment before! So I explained to them I paid it on time and they literally told me "I can see that but the account is closed so there's nothing we can do we accept many forms of payment." I asked for a supervisor, she was rude as well. She said "well I would have to check if you made any late payments before or every disputed one do you want me to check that you need to hold for that." (I have never done either one before but WHY DOES IT MATTER!!! You made the mistake not me!!!) so after she came back from the hold she said ok you never have. (Like I know I haven't but since you think I'm lying) Then she told me she can't remove the late fee I would have to be transferred back. I told her they transferred me to her because they said they weren't able to do it. She said ok I'll just do it. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!!! That was a few months ago, now today I got the actual letter they claimed to have sent me months ago. This was definitely a new letter about my new account (I had to reopen an account since they closed it). So I haven't even activated my new card yet but somehow there is fraud on my new account. So I called asking why this keeps happening and she said i don't know. I asked her if she could find out because this is the third time. She put me on hold and was like the supervisor said its confidential. It's happening on my account and they won't tell me. I told her thats very strange. Then she's like um no actually it's not very strange Morgan. (My name is megan). She said we can't tell you because you might use that information and commit fraud. This bank worked with identity thieves to open credit card account in my name. The fraud was reported to the bank in April. It is now September and my credit rating has fallen from "Very Good" to "Poor". Repeated calls to the Account Protection and Fraud Departments leads to the same result. "We will investigate and call you back." No one calls back. When I call them, the supervisor I spoke to is "not in the office" and once I got the probably correct answer "No one by that name works here". Followed by: "The person you talked to last time did not note anything on the account." It's hard to imagine that this is pure incompetence. When I Googled this Bank, the only non-bank site that came back was something called "Trickster.com". They recommended the bank because of the lax approach to identify and credit checks. Never having heard of this bank prior to the fraud, I wonder if this is simply part of their business model? read more

I believe this bank is committing fraud by not posting mailed payments when they are received. My due date is the 21st. Two months ago I mailed my payment the 12th and received an e-mail verification that it was received the 21st. Okay, good. However, my bill showed a late fee. I contacted customer service and was told my payment was received the 23rd. When I told them I had received verification that it was received on the due date and could send it to them, they said they would remove the late charge one time only. This month I mailed my payment the 11th. Received verification by e-mail it was received the 23rd. I do not believe them. Customer Service reps are not helpful. Would not change my due date, suggested I pay on line which does not work for me. I will pay off the balance and cancel the credit card. Next month I will mail the full amount due as soon as I receive it, would not surprise me if they again tell me it was not received until the 23rd. Worst customer service I have ever encountered. I doubt they will stay in business much longer. read more

This company isn't even worthy of one star, there should be a no star option. Worst experience I have ever had with a company, if thats what they even are. I started a credit card with victoria's secret as I shop there quite frequently and though it would be a good idea. Worst decision I have ever made. They would not accept any of my payments that I tried to make and continued to charge me with late fees. I emailed them with no response and could not reach them with a phone number. A person kept calling me that came up as Unknown so I finally picked up and it was Comenity Bank accusing me of not paying and asking for my attorney. Feeling very threatened by them, I asked them what this was about and explain that I had been trying to pay. The man on the phone said he was going to look at my account but instead hung up on me. I tried to call back, but because there was no number I could not. I finally got a hold of them and was told there was nothing they could do and I would have to pay it all even though I had been trying to pay them all along. I then talked to a manager who told me that this was none of their fault and it was mine. EXCUSE ME?! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Lesson one is to never say this to a customer and that fact that a manager said this baffled me. I said I just wanted to pay what I originally owed and she continued to belittle me saying that I could not ask for that. Eventually I gave in to this horrific manager as I wanted nothing to do with this 'company' anymore. Safe to say I am absolutely shocked that a business treated their customers like this and I will never, I repeat, WILL NEVER USE COMENITY BANK EVER AGAIN! read more

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I had an Eddie Bauer credit card for ten years. Suddenly comenity bank owns it. I paid my bill on time but they had changed the payment so I was considered late by 17 dollars. Wham a fee. Then I paid the overage through them direct and wham another fee because they say the bank returned the payment. The bank says they never had it presented. This comenity also owned my NY&Company account. I had the exact same thing happen with them and they ended up charging me 100 in fraudulent fees for a 29 purchase. I closed that account but I was not given any refund of fees or explanation other than to say my bank had the problem they shouldn't return the charge. I believe my bank because they did not charge me any returned check fees. It is a SCAM by comenity bank. DO NOT OPEN ANY STORE CARDS THAT USE COMENITY BANK. You will be so very sorry. The fees will bankrupt you and the freaking phone calls at all hours of the day and night will drive you mental read more

I have been a credit card customer of Comenty Bank for several years. I didn't use their cards too much, and one of the branded Visa cards was cancelled for non-use, even though I could still log in and it never said the card was cancelled. In December, I attempted to make a purchase on the branded company's website. That is when I found out the card was cancelled. Comenity told me to apply for a new Visa card, which I did and was immediately approved with a higher credit line than before (mid-700 credit score, high income, no late payments, home owner, blah blah). I made the purchase with a temp card they arranged right on the web site, and all was good. A few weeks later, I made another purchase. Both purchases were able to make use of a multi-pay plan, and the combined total was over $1000. A couple of weeks go by, and the merchant calls me stating they are unable to charge the next payment. After a day of investigating, Comenity tells me they cancelled the new card. The reason was because I had multiple inquires on my credit report for new credit cards, in a short period of time. I only apply for cards where I do bigness, and frequently make use of rewards cards from those businesses. It apparently doesn't matter to Comenity if you have very good credit, high income, and pay your bills on time. If your financial adviser tells you to raise your credit lines to increase your balance/limit rations, be careful of banks like Comenity who are too focused on the minutia to see the big picture. I will never do business with these morons again, and will let this serve as a warning that they will pull the rug out from under you when you least expect it. read more

I had the worst experience ever from Comenity Bank linked with the Home Shopping Network. I purchased an item (Keith Urban guitar. I am sure that he has no idea that his name is used to exploit people who purchase his product) from HSN) approximately May and evidently the card was through Comenity Ban. I called the number on the bill to pay my account off in August after I made several payments. They were very helpful. The item I purchased was $200.00 plus a protection cost (evidently it didn't cover protection from fraudulent billing practices or their financial institution). The payoff was $161.00 in August. Months later, In October I started receiving daily calls from Comenity Bank telling me that I had a balance due on the item that I paid off. I was told that because I had an account with flex payments even though I paid the card off, I still had to make the flex payments. I told them the $161 dollars wasn't a donation. I had paid off the account. The guitar was only $200.00. I am sure that is in violation of some penal code as extortion. Also this is over the internet so it has to violate Federal standards as well. Doing investigations myself I know this is pure fraud and exploitation and not an approved business standard. They charged me late fees, and interest payments for months after I paid the account off. The first time when I asked to talk to the supervisor the transferred me to HSN who told me I still owed - first two flex payments, then changed their story to just one payment. I have talked to more people than I can count, asked to talk to supervisors. Everyone said something different. I was told I purchased another item for $63.00 which I did not. The calls came several times daily through today, November 21, 2015. I told them in August to cancel my account when I paid it off and clearly it is open. I received a bill today for $188.00. I called again and asked to talk to each person's supervisor. The fourth person I get is Antonio (Hmmm....same name of the person I talked to when I paid my account off in August). I asked him if he was who I talked to in August and he said there are other Antonio's. The correct answer since I talked to four people (three alleged supervisors) would have been, "I don't answer the phones. I am a supervisor or manager." Oops!! Then I asked him to listen to the recording of the call from August because they always say it is recorded for quality assurance. He told me he couldn't because it says it MAY not ARE recorded for quality assurance. How would he know he couldn't listen to it and it was not recorded unless he checked to see if it was recorded. He then told me he would see what he could do for me. He said he would take off all the interest payments and late fees and charge me $63.00. I asked him if I would never hear from Comenity Bank or the Home Shopping Network again if I paid that amount. He said not unless I bought something else from them. I would not take something for free from the Home Shopping Network now. I paid the $63.00. I asked for a confirmation number and they don't have them at this bank. Seriously??? Usually you are transferred to someone, it is recorded, verified, you are asked if you agree with a witness. Well he gave me his name, employee ID, date and time. I will never open another credit card if they use Comenity Bank as their financial institution. Well kudos to Comenity Bank for exploiting a senior citizen. Job well done! read more

I will NEVER use a credit card financed by Comenity Bank EVER again. I opened an account at Victoria's Secret and received a very good coupon for my birthday. When I shopped there, I was informed the only way I could use the coupon was if I used my Victoria's Secret credit card. No problem. Got a $50 bra for $21; I was happy. Got the bill in the mail. Went to their website to pay on line and that started the horrible experience. You can't just enter your bank routing number and account number to get established. You have to go through this crazy hassle of allowing them to deposit and then withdraw $.02 from your account so that they can "verify" it. It didn't appear that my information went through so I did it the old fashioned way and mailed a check for the amount of the bill. The following month I received a bill from them stating they hadn't received my payment and I was also getting billed a $22 late fee - more than the amount of my stupid purchase. I figured there was a misunderstanding because I mailed the check in plenty of time. About a month later we started receiving multiple calls a week from an unknown number; I'm sorry, but I don't answer the phone if I don't know who is calling. Finally one day I got so irritated I did pick up and it was Comenity Bank calling to "work out a payment plan" because I now had $60 in late fees even though I never received any communication from them!!! I had not purchased anything further on that card - suddenly my good deal of $21 was costing me $60. I tried to talk to the person and they absolutely refused to budge and kept saying "your payment was late" claiming they received it 14 days after it was due. I have an excellent credit rating, have never had any issues with any credit cards and was now being treated like I was someone who never pays their bills. I asked to speak to a manager, was put on hold forever and got disconnected. Figured they would call back - never did until about 2 weeks later when again the "unknown" number was on my missed calls when I'd get home from work. If you're a decent business, why do you block your number from being recognized??? Then the calls to my place of employment started - at least 3 a day for several days - unbelievable!!! Finally got to speak to a nice young lady who at least treated me well. After trying to get her to erase the late charges I finally got her to get it down to $23. At that point I just wanted them off my back even though it was still wrong for have to pay anything in late charges. I know it wasn't a lot of money but it's the principle of how I was treated and them not being willing to hear your story or even work with you. If they came after me that hard for a $21 purchase I pity anyone who is late on any amounts more than that. Merchants like Victoria's Secret should think twice about having them back their credit cards - it has left a very bad taste in my mouth about ever shopping there again and I certainly won't be using that credit card no matter how good the deal is. On the BBB website Comenity has a 94% negative rating out of 312 reviews and almost 1600 complaints. They should be put out of business and certainly not allowed to be affiliated with decent businesses. read more

I had the misfortune of having my credit card account acquired by Comenity. Certainly, nobody in their right mind should never voluntarily open an account with them. Problems with them range from the irritating to what I would consider fraudulent business practices on their part. One only need look at other reviews to see the host of complaints. On the irritating side, they don't even have an app, so you have to log on to a webpage every time you want to do anything. What a waste of time and inconvenience! On the more serious side, I just spent nearly half a year fighting with them over a charge that I disputed back in May (2020). I made a purchase, had the merchant cancel, but then refuse to issue anything other than a credit. I disputed to the highest level with the merchant to no avail and, to my dismay, found the bank uninterested in pursuing this at all or taking my dispute seriously. So much for the online purchase protection that we supposedly have when making purchases with a credit card. All of my appeals to Comenity and the documentation I provided appear to have gone into the circular file. Their only response was to repeatedly tell me to contact the merchant. I tried to convince them that we should be on the same side, and should both be fighting the unethical business practices of the merchant, but it's clear that they have no interest in protecting the interests of their clients or their own business reputation. read more

I recently faced a challenging situation with Comenity Bank that has left me in a dire position, and I feel compelled to share my experience. I have been a customer of Comenity Bank, holding a DELL PAY credit card that unfortunately switched to Comenity Bank from Dell Financial Services. Unfortunately, after a dispute with their customer care representatives, my account was flagged for fraud when I was trying to request a letter from them that my mortgage company was requesting. Despite providing them with my driver's license, social security card, and W2, all with my current address, Comenity Bank permanently closed my account, citing an inability to validate my identity. The timing of this closure couldn't be worse, as it jeopardizes the closing of my mortgage, putting my home purchase at risk. I have invested significant time and financial resources into the closing process, and the consequences of this account closure are severe. What adds to the frustration is the lack of responsiveness and assistance from Comenity Bank during this critical period. The urgency of my situation is not being adequately acknowledged, and I am left in a state of distress. I sincerely hope that others can learn from my experience. If you're considering Comenity Bank for your financial needs, I would caution you to be aware of the potential challenges you may face, particularly in times of dispute or urgency. read more

Please be advised that these reviews are accurate. I have had my Victoria Secret card through Comenity Bank for several years. My card remained active when my credit score was at it's lowest and my credit card debt, with other creditors, was at it's highest. However, I remained in good standing with my Victoria Secret card. Now that my overall credit card debt has decreased drastically and my score has increased drastically I was notified, through CreditKarma, that my account with Comenity Bank was closed. I initially contacted Victoria Secret and was told that my account was closed due to findings with my credit report. Please keep in mind that in return this made my credit score drop 33 points! I contacted the credit bureau, with whom they reported me to, and was told that there was no findings on their end as to why Comenity Bank should have closed my account so I was asked if I wanted to file a dispute. In which I did so. I contacted Comenity Bank who only stated that they did so due to what was reported to them by the bureau. Huh?? I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and for anyone else who has suffered at their hands lease do so as well. You do so online and it is an easy and quick process. I will be taking further action if this is not resolved. read more

I applied for this credit card on the Wayfair website. Made payments on time, each month. Then in September they announced that they closed my account, because Wayfair doesn't work with them anymore. Good for Wayfair! Then in September I had financial difficulties because of this stupid pandemic time, and instead of making payment on 10th and made payment on 15th but I paid off my balance completely, it was $ 0. When they sent me a bill for $33 late fee, I called them I asked to remove that fee, because I made my previous payments on time, and I paid off my balance. I asked them why you charge fees on the account that currently has 0 and it's closed??! And I simply wasn't able to pay it on time I had financial difficulties. They didn't agree with that, I was super angry because in any other bank they would agree that it's the case there to remove late fee is appropriate but they didn't. I wasn't able to made that payment unfortunately. In December they sent me $68, so they added one more late fee. But thanks God I was table to pay it in December! I hope they will choke with these money. It's an evil company. And btw their automatic payment systems needs many improvements. Long waiting time on hold is another problem. read more

My response to their computer generated (no response) email. I am not satisfied at all!! I called Customer Service because I was trying to make a payment on my account on the day it was due and because it was 8:15 p.m. I was advised by your very rude overseas call center that I would be charged a $25.00 late fee. I then spoke to someone in the United States who again would not budge regarding this issue. This is highly offensive and perhaps a violation of the Fair Credit Act (I will investigate further). I find it distressing that although I paid well over the amount due on the due date (by a customer who has consistently paid well over the minimum due on my account each month) that Comenity would be so rigid and anti-customer service that they would insist on this policy, again from a customer who has always kept their account in good standing. I will pay the remaining balance due minus the $25.00 dollar fee you insist on charging and again will investigate this issue regarding the Fair Credit Act and will note a review on the major websites regarding your lack of customer service. read more

I have a few store cards that I have had for years, Jared, Talbots, and Coldwater Creek are the ones that Comenity has taken over from other banks. I got caught like many when this pandemic hit. I was waiting for a check to arrive from March 11 and couldn't get a hold of the company that it was due from as they were in CA and I am in FL. Come to find out they had been closed due to the Coronavirus. I explained this to Comenity and was told not to worry about it and they would give me a 2 month extension to pay. I finally got my check in July, I paid all of their accounts up to date and now I am being told that my Talbots card is being closed due to a low credit score!!! They knew what the issue was and still closed my account that didn't even have a balance on it as I haven't used the card since back in Dec. This is stupid and can't wait to pay off my others with this bank to never use them again. The kicker is I had others with them but the companies have gone out of business! If this is how they treat their business' as well I can see why they are no longer in business. read more

This company is in violation of the TCPA. They need to STOP CALLING. Comenity Bank has faced several allegations of violating TCPA. Here are some examples of TCPA violations: Calling at odd hours and contacting consumers late at night and early in the morning. Calling the consumer at their workplace and leaving a message about the debt with the person who answers the call. Calling and not identifying themselves or their purpose. Not identifying the entity to whom debt is owed. Calling and talking about the debt without first verifying if the consumer owes it or not. Not honoring a consumer's wishes to not call them; not honoring the Do-Not-Call-Registry. Threatening consumers with lawsuits that are not applicable to their case. Threatening and intimidating consumers with legal action where none is intended. Leaving messages containing details of the debt with people other than the consumer. This could include their relatives, co-workers, friends, and/or neighbors. Making details of the debt public and causing undue embarrassment to the consumer who owes the debt read more

BEWARE if you are thinking about using Comenity! DON"T DO IT! I pay my bills ahead of schedule every month. Yesterday, I received several calls saying my payment was late. I went on line to check out was going on and it clearly showed on my payment schedule that my next payment was due on April 4. Today is March 21! On top of that, they had charged me $90 in late fees!!! They have charged me these late fees for the past several months! No one ever answers the phone at customer service and they just recently allowed you to use a debit or credit card to pay your bill! If you need help and want to speak with an actual person, plan on taking the day off and committing to just trying to speak with someone. When I finally reached a person today, she said that the reason I was charged a late fee was because I paid ahead of my due date and they don't apply it! WHAT??? They will not refund the late fees! I am contacting the Attorney General and have filed a complaint with the BBB. read more

This institution,(very mental, unstable company!!!!) Literally insane! Doing the same thing over & over expecting different results in finance! Really disscuting that on average call about 7 times a day, starting at am and continuing all day long. on your day off every 2 hrs. Then they try scam calls. Using different numbers saying there someone else? And I can see it's the same number. Trying to check out our intelligence? All in reality, I'm all about helping others out that need a better life. They DO NOT about nothing about customer service in my! Experience. In our broken world today, we don't need this petty nonsense especially if your bill isn't due for another month! So I made a decision and will go to the store and pay my own bill and continue to block all there numbers from around the . And Report spam and harassment. No offense but the illegals are being Illegal. Have a positive day. read more

I had a terrible experience with Comenity Bank, and I would not recommend them to anyone. Their practices feel completely misleading and borderline fraudulent. I noticed unauthorized charges on my account, and when I contacted customer service, they were unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of resolving the issue, they kept transferring me between departments with no clear answers. It felt like they were intentionally avoiding taking responsibility. Their billing system is confusing, and fees seem to appear out of nowhere. Even after making payments on time, I was hit with unexpected charges that were never properly explained. What's most frustrating is the lack of transparency and accountability. A bank should provide security and trust, but my experience with Comenity has been the opposite. I strongly advise others to think twice before opening an account with them. read more

This bank appears to be unfairly charging customers. My wife opened a credit card through Sephora and made a purchase of about $65. We never received any billing statement. Later, the bank added a $40 late fee. I contacted customer service, and they agreed to waive $25 of the fee. I then paid the original balance plus the remaining $25 late fee. This issue occurred in November, and we believed it was resolved. However, in March, we received another call from customer service demanding around $200. They claimed that the original payment was one day late and continued adding additional late fees. Now, the customer service representatives are threatening legal action, which feels unreasonable given the situation. We made a good-faith effort to resolve the issue and paid what we were told was owed. This situation feels unfair and needs to be reviewed. read more

If I could give this company a negative amount of stars -0, I would. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I submitted a payment to them on the 12th of the month. They did not try to process the payment until approximately the 26th of the month and by that time, I thought they had already taken their money and have been paid. By the time I found out that they didn't receive the funds, I was marked late on my credit report and so I made another payment that they also didn't process in a timely manner and this time my credit report reflected that I was 60 days late ruining my credit report and my credit score. This has happened so many times that I am paying this account off next week and I will NEVER do business with Comenity Bank ever again!! read more

I got a lane Bryant credit card for my girlfriend. She bought bras from there all the time so I thought it was a good idea to save some money, boy was I wrong! I paid off my balance in December, then I was charged a $2 "finance charge" after paying off the card. Think my balance was 0, I didn't bother looking at statements until May. In May the balance was over $200 from late fees on the $2 finance charge. I paid all but one late fee and closed my account then ANOTHER $2 finance charge showed up a week after I paid off the account THE SECOND TIME. I called customer service and was transferred to the wrong people then transferred to a "manager" who didn't answer my questions and hung up on me. This company is the absolute worst! 100% a scam! read more

I am writing to express significant concern regarding recent charges applied to my account with Kay Jewelers and Comenity Bank. Specifically, I was recently subjected to unexpected interest charges. Upon switching to paperless billing, I was not notified that interest would subsequently be applied to the balance throughout the year. As a result, a full year's worth of interest was added to my statement. I am very dissatisfied with this process and the lack of clear communication regarding the financial implications of opting for paperless billing. I request an immediate review of these charges and clarification on how this interest was calculated and applied without prior notification. read more

They are scam!!! Do not trust these people. They reallyyy be on some Bullshit. Oh btw they have a 100% interest rate. If you have perfect payment history they will drag you through it! Be careful the experience I've had is non other. I've asked to speak with supervisor . No help from customer service or support. I just keep getting told there's nothing they can do. It is what it is. No documentation that this would be 100% interest no thing no communication I don't mind paying off the rest of my loan. Ammount. But do not tax me where it's impossible to get out of! They have terrible policy and live to drown people. Even those trying to do the right things read more

What a terrible credit card company! This place and GE Money Bank are the worst loan sharking credit card issuers out there. DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD FROM THEM. They issue mostly store credit cards for places like Victoria's Secret, and issue a handful of co branded cards that are impossible to obtain unless you have a 750+ credit score. They will nickel and dime you in fees, move around your billing cycles, and do whatever it takes to show you that you are nothing but a number to them. I called to close my account and they said why? I said they are the worst credit card I have, they said fine its closed. Not even a thank you for your business. Ack! read more

Comenity Bank/Wayfair is the worst credit card servicer on this planet. They regularly take over an hour to answer the phone and their website regularly requires a password change, that once completed, is not recognized. TWO attempts locks you out, and then you have to call a number nobody answers. Due to these issues and their sporadic reporting to the Credit reporting agencies, we needed an update to complete a disabled Veteran's refinance. It took 5 calls over 3 days to finally request a "Balance Letter" that is required to update their credit report. A day later the fax arrived showing the balance on the card as $XX.XX. WTF! read more

Do not trust this bank. Their products are designed in misleading ways -- burying important terms in fine print and creating blind spots through a lack of communication. Search them in consumer venues like CFPB or BBB and you'll see the same pattern of complaints. Customers are hit with thousands in surprise charges that are technically 'legal' only because they hide behind the fine print -- a classic trap. They operate under different names, such as Alphaeon Credit for medical expenses. If the product you're considering is linked to them, avoid it at all costs. read more
