We showed up without an appointment and after sitting down with Realtor Mike Moss to discuss what we were looking for in buying a house in SLO, hired him as our agent. Mike was very patient working with us as we were not yet focused on a specific area in the county. After many months and trips to view potential houses in Los Osos, Morro Bay and SLO, we finally narrowed the focus on SLO City. We then toured various neighborhoods until we found a couple of areas to really focus on. Mike was patient, thoughtful and helpful all throughout this process and when we found the house for us, he was instrumental in our plan of making a successful offer and getting us through escrow. It's a shame that such a beautiful house in a great location was rented out by someone so incompetent. I wouldn't recommend renting with Courtney Huckabay under any circumstances. This realtor does not fix house appliances when regular maintenance is required (ice maker, dish disposal, etc.), communicate in a calm and direct manner, or know how to do math. She managed to mix myself and another one of her tenants up when giving back house deposits which ended up in me being shorted $1,000. Her solution to this problem was not to correct the problem she caused, but told that other tenant and myself to "venmo each other to make it right ourselves." However, this was not a problem caused by us and should not had to have been solved by us. read more

I would never recommend renting with Comet Realty under any circumstance, especially if Courtney Huckabay is your realtor. Over the two years that I rented a property from her, she was unprofessional, uncommunicative, rude, and overall unhelpful. When I moved out, she messed up the deposits between me and my roomate, resulting in large sums of money being sent to the wrong people. During my time renting through Comet Realty, Courtney yelled at two of the tenants over the phone for calling with some simple questions about the property, demanded we renew our lease in a very short amount of time, refused to fix two of the appliances that came with the house, and refused to help after making mistakes concerning our security deposits. If you are thinking of renting through Comet Realty, I would suggest you seek elsewhere, or at least stay far away from Courtney Huckabay. read more

I used Comet Realty Property Management for over six and a half years. It started out great with Haley but after Travis H. started managing my 3 rentals 3 years ago, I started having problems and it just got worse the last 6 months until I decided to change management companies. Some of the issues were: -slow response times -changing formats for monthly ledgers and rental owner statements. In general, property management financial reports are confusing, that was why I hired an accountant to help me check things that didn't add up and contradicted what I was told and what the statements said. And sometimes balances didn't match up. I was told that the balances included all the properties but sometimes it looked like they did and sometimes the amounts couldn't possibly include all the balances. - failure to collect the increased amount of a rental extension for 6 months. I wasn't notified of the change in the rental extension agreement, either. - delay in the inspection of a rental unit when there was a change in tenants and a delay in returning the keys to me. -discrepancies in security deposit ledger statement balances - when inquires were made, I received generalized responses that didn't answer the specific questions. I have to admit, they knew I was changing management companies so I didn't feel they cared about explaining the discrepancies. -failure to transfer the correct balance to new management company by being short on the security deposits. Not surprising since the security deposits weren't consistent in the statements or their responses. - no explanation was provided after being asked 3 times why a rental payment was short $300 one month. So, if you want to use them for your property management, I recommend that you get everything in writing, no verbal he said/she said agreements, monitor and calculate for yourself all the ledgers and rental owner statements, and ask questions in writing whenever something doesn't make sense.
