We stayed here for one night because it was close to medical facilities at Stanford. The location is pretty good. It sits back off the road so no road noise. It's a very good value for what you get. Other than some stains on the carpet, everything was clean. We stayed in the one first story handicapped room. The handicapped parking spot is pretty far away from the room. It could be situated much closer. The room is large with a large shower. They have a microwave, small fridge and coffee pot. The pillows were nice and the bed is comfy. When we checked in the girl sent me in the wrong direction for the room. I had to go back to get correct directions. The room numbers were very hard to see from afar. There was no breakfast and pool was not available because of Covid-19. We ordered pizza and salad from Pronto Pizzaria through Grubhub. Just make sure you ask for utensils and napkins. It was very good pizza and fresh salad. This was good for one night stay. read more

This hotel has clean and comfortable rooms with a King bed from $65 to $80 depending upon the day and the availability of the rooms. The front desk clerks are all very courteous, helpful, and friendly. They don't refuse any requests that are reasonable, and the housekeeping staff are courteous and helpful as well. I stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms are a bit dated, but it was quiet and comfortable. Refrigerator in the room & nice HD 4K TV's. However, the rooms could have been a bit cleaner. I found hair in the shower and small blood stains on the sheets. The halls smelled like cigarettes. However, customer service is very good and they are responsive. They will transfer you to another room if you are not comfortable. read more

I Stayed here 4 days on a business trip recently to the area. The front desk clerks were great! Friendly & professional...I arrived a little earlier than the posted check in time, and they found me a ready room with no problem. The room was on the 3rd floor and West facing, so it was very quiet. Though a but warm in the afternoon with the setting sun blasting in the windows. The bed was comfy and the room had a small fridge & microwave. The bathroom was large, but the shower head was a bit low for me, (I'm 6'-0), I had to bend over to wash my hair. Compared to other hotels I have been in, the TV was small, maybe 26" flat screen & the channel choices were limited, about 10 channels. I noticed about 4 wifi signals to choose from, but all I tried kept dropping me when I Tried to surf the web. The air conditioner was a weird setup...it was plugged into some box on the wall that would kill power to the A/C at various times thru-out the day. This hotel is a good middle of the road hotel. It is about 30 minutes from San Francisco and San Jose. It took about twenty minutes from the rental car garage at SFO to the front desk of the hotel. However, it is priced nearly 30-50% cheaper than similar hotels at the airport or Silicon Valley. It is comfortable with the basics. My room had 2 queen beds which were comfortable, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot and a clean bathroom. The hallways were interior with elevators available. No outside noises that I noticed. The neighborhood is a little run down. The road the hotel is on is the old highway before the freeway was built many years ago. From US 101 there are some crazy turns and ramps so be sure you have a map or GPS to get you here. I know the CalTrain is nearby which can take you into San Francisco next to AT&T Ballpark as an alternative to driving. If eating locally I recommend Harry's Hofbräu across the street. It is not a traditional German Hofbräu but more like a cafeteria with carved meats and a full size bar. read more

They advertise a "whirlpool/indoor hot tub" on their website. I called and asked pointedly: "You say you have a hot tub on your website, but I can't find any pictures of it. Do you have one?" "Yes," they said. "And it's in working order?" "Yes it is!" they said. So we booked. We get there, and there's no hot tub. Wtf? Why lie? They said that they have certain "whirlpool suites," but I came to find out that this merely referred to a bathtub that had jets in it. In what alternate dimension does a bathtub with jets qualify as an "indoor hot tub/whirlpool"? That's a laughable exaggeration. Epic disappointment. read more

Stayed on weekend of 2/4/17. Rate was good for the location of the Hotel. I was worried about noise level being that it is located on El Camino Real, busy street on Redwood City. But the rooms do not face El Camino Real. The hotel is set back from the main road . Which is a big plus for us. We were on the 2nd Floor. Facing the street parking lot which is fine, we were able to see our cars from our hotel window. I wish I took picture of the room. Security I don't think is an issue. If rooms are in the 2nd Floor. You enter through a key car access security to get to the lobby elevator. The floor hallways does not look like the typical hotel hallways. It has a center potted plants that is heated by solar power roof. Again I wish I had taken pictures. *The front desk clerks (Evening Shift and Morning shift) were Friendly & professional. *Our room. Room 208 had a king size bed, small fridge & microwave. The bed was comfy, the sheets looked very fresh and thoroughly cleaned. *I read a Yelp review about the lighting in the room. From my observation, There were 4 lamps in our room. Two nightstand lamps, one standing lamp (that is adjustable to one or two lights options) and a desk lamp. Plus overhead lights on the sink and mirror area. The above the ceiling light that you can turn on as you enter the room, by the door. Plenty of lighting options. *The bathroom was large, my only small complaint. There was a slight odor not enough to bother us; maybe something that air freshener can take care of. *Wi-Fi is complimentary with 4 signals to choose from. *There is a Target 5 minutes away, that I saw by accident when I was on my way to Safeway. A Starbucks that is under 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel. On the same side of the hotel. A plus for me. *Overall I recommend Comfort Inn. Overall enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and quiet and would definitely stay there again. read more

I've stayed at several Redwood City/vicinity hotels in the past few months. Overall, I've been disappointed in the high prices and shabby--in some cases, just plain dirty--rooms. Last week I stayed at this Comfort Inn, and I was delighted. Nelson, the fellow behind the counter when I checked in, was quite friendly and helpful. He helped me with some driving directions and made me feel very welcome. (Redwood City directions can be challenging sometimes, and have defeated my GPS more than once.) The room was immaculate and welcoming. The sheets were crisp and there were four pillows, two firm and two soft. I appreciate this attention to detail. There were plenty of electrical outlets, including two next to my side of the bed. This next detail is so important to me: the heating/cooling system was quiet. Quiet as a whisper. Quiet enough so that I slept like a rock in a nice, cool room. Great shower, with an unusual shower-turner-onner, for which they provide ample instructions (and which Nelson explained to me before I got to my room). Closet with lots of hangers and an ironing board. You may think this trivial, but I have stayed in other area hotels for nearly the same price that do not sport these convenient features. There's a hot breakfast in the morning with lovely cheese omelets and sausage and bacon in addition to the standard fare. Although breakfast service is supposed to stop at 9:00 a.m., the manager escorted me in shortly after that since I'd lost track of time. Parking is plentiful, and in a covered area next to the building. There is an elevator. Free wi-fi, which seemed fine. I barely used it. One quibble, and to me, it's minor. The channel guide for the television didn't match the channels on the television. I had no problem searching for and finding the channels I wanted. The hotel is right on El Camino Real. Some have called the area sketchy. I think that's a bit strong. There are many areas in RWC with price-comparable lodging that I would consider to be far more sketchy. Much of that is attributable to the overzealous development that has been occurring all over Silicon Valley over the past couple of decades. Plus, hey--Harry's Hofbrau is practically across the street. Big plus there. Disclosure: I am a Choice Hotels Privileges member. I've never come close to accumulating enough points to do anything with them, but I became a member because I've had consistently happy experiences with other Choice Hotels throughout the western U.S. (Comfort Inn, as you may be aware, is part of that chain.) I didn't even recall that I had signed up for the thing until Nelson found it when I checked in. This is a nice, clean, welcoming hotel staffed by competent, friendly folks. Give 'em a try. This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel and will probably be back. The front desk staff is very nice and helpful. They have some grab and go breakfast food - nothing special but convenient. The rooms are fine but I don't understand why some have skylights in them - makes it hard to sleep late. This place is rather expensive for what it is, a discount hotel chain. While the room was nice enough, with convenience microwave and refrigerator, the hallways and facilities are dirty and poorly maintained. My family and I stayed here when we moved to Redwood City last week, and we wanted to stay an extra night, but the desk staff were difficult to deal with and kept jerking us around on the room rate. Finally, we gave up and decided to stay in our empty apartment rather than spending $200 for a mediocre hotel room. read more

During the recent heat spell, we spent two nights in this hotel. It seemed basically okay for just needing a room with A/C. However, I ended up with a huge patch of very itchy red bites on my hip which turned out to be bed bug bites! My son-in-law got food poisoning from the omelet they served for breakfast. Always clean, friendly and polite. The staff there makes every effort to accommodate you even if you are suddenly finding yourself without a place to stay on short notice. Excellent free breakfast and coffee and lemon water available in front lobby 24/7. Close to downtown fruit stand excellent restaurants and easy walk to theater district. Prices are reasonable especially if you are a AAA or IGH hotel member. Nice cool clean pool with disability access. It's in a sketchy part of town. A group of us middle age gals walked to a nearby restaurant and on the way back we were followed. The bed was comfortable and I was able to have a good night sleep. Room is outdated but clean. The front staff receptionist was super nice and helpful. In the morning you can make fresh mini waffles but the hair d boiled eggs look like they are old and seen better days. It's a place to lay your head with no frills and no expectations. read more

NASTY JUST PLAN NASTY I had stayed at this motel in Reno years past and last time I stayed here noticed it had changed owners , let's just say the new owners appeared to cut huge corners This time I check it and was hit in the face by some nasty smell ! Thinking it was old cigarettes smoke I went down and asked for another room . Only to find a few other people were asking the same Then they said that they are all non smoking rooms ! Oh no. ! That ever means mold or .....body odor ?! NASTY ! I asked for a different room and it smelled just as bad ! Plus it was not even clean, bed not made or cleaned ! Went back to the office and checks out ! Went next door to the Holiday Inn Express and had a great experience ! I doubt this property will pass inspection so probably not long as a comfort inn . Especially with the people I spoke to who were not happy and were going to complain The next morning I could see they had all the windows open in those rooms So SO GROSS . While in town for business I booked this hotel for myself and two associates based on overall value and reviews. We were not disappointed as Nelson the manager was tremendously helpful from the get-go. After a long day we were warmly greeted and checked in by Nelson who helped us get settled. The rooms were clean and quiet and after a long day that is what you look for with life on the road. Stephanie was also great in helping us setup transportation to the airport as we had multiple cases and gear, and wanted to make sure we ordered a taxi that could accommodate. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this hotel. Nelson by far was the highlight and we very much appreciated all of his time and consideration. (Side note - I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for activities and things to see around town, but for business it was perfect. Also, wifi was a bit dodgy but would work as long as you were patient and waited for the window to pop up to enter the password ) read more

Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting family in RC. The staff was friendly and helpful and gave us an upstairs room toward the rear (310). Although it's a 3-story building the bottom floor is a parking garage (and there is an elevator). The hotel is set back from the main road so you have to really pay attention coming south on El Camino Real or you'll miss the Comfort Inn sign (a box van parked right before the driveway for the 2 days didn't help). We had a good sized room with a comfortable king size bed, easy chair, desk and it's equipped with refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, iron and ironing board, hair dryer and TV. Hopefully we didn't disturb our neighbors below us as the there were a couple of places on the carpeted floor near the bed that squeaked when stepped on and we had an excited, 1st time away from home, 2 1/2 year old that did a lot of running around when we first arrived. Although the hotel was fully booked we didn't hear any of the other guests so hopefully it was well insulated. Breakfast is provided in a separate room next to the office with the typical hotel spread; eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee juice, etc. Overall enjoyed our stay, the room was clean and quiet and would definitely stay there again. read more

High price for what you get. Carpets are dirty, sheets had spots, towels were a bit dingy. Outdoor area dirty, looks like an update is needed thru out. Very disappointed, especially for the cost. The employees were very friendly tho and appeared to be working very hard. House keepin had to carry dirty linens and towels by hand down steps thru hotel to laundry room. I wouldn't want to hand carry anyone's dirty laundry. Staff need more support. One of the most disgusting hotels I have ever had the misfortune of being required to stay in. My non-smoking room smelled like a group of smokers had walked out of it right before I got there, and of course was the only available room. Had to sleep with the window open and bathroom fan on all night and my eyes and nose were still burning. Wallpaper peeling off the walls, fixtures hung crookedly, the floors were damp and sticky! If there had been any - I mean any - hotel room available within a 30 minute driving distance I would have gone anywhere else. read more

We were pretty disappointed with the customer service and overall quality. The biggest issue was that they told us they would have a crib for our baby, but then didn't when we arrived. They made a feeble attempt to find one, but didn't. We would've been screwed if we didn't have family nearby to lend us one. A combo of other issues led to the hotel feeling shabby - hard beds with half-size pillows, a hole in the bathtub, mold in the shower, rubber egg slab for breakfast, no heating in common areas, etc. Do yourself a favor and stay next door at Holiday Inn - such a better experience! read more

I wanted to give this nice hotel a "4" as it met most of my criteria - Clean, Quiet, Comfortable and Secure. But the Internet is clumsy and the lighting is... well, management needs to spring for 100 watt bulbs. As a business traveler, I don't need the romantic lighting provided by 60 watts. Stayed for 3 nights, 5/24-27. Worst stay at a Comfort Inn during my 10 years at hotels of this chain. Specifically: * Hotel was being remodeled. Work was supposed to start at 9am. However, on 5/27, I was woken at 8am when a worker started playing his radio outside my room and scrubbing the walls. On 5/25, I was woken by a fire alarm that went off for 40 sec, off for a minute, on for 20sec, off for a minute, on for 20sec; I was told it was due to a worker accidentally pulling the alarm while removing wallpaper. * The WiFi would cut out randomly, every couple of hours (they use a service provided by Google). * My room (third floor) had a skylight. A very nice feature in the daytime, but without a shade/drape, it makes sleeping-in impossible (not that I had a chance to try with the remodeling noise). * The cleaning staff left a dirty rag on my toilet. Also, the edge of the toilet paper was folded into a bow (origami-style) after daily cleaning, which, while pretty, had to be removed before using the paper. * At checkout, I was asked how my stay was. I politely shared the above feedback. Besides a generic "I am sorry", I was given no discount or any other attempt at compensation for my experience. It was a good 10 years of business travel and over $10,000 spent at Comfort Inns during that time. It is time to move on to another chain that has better quality controls. read more

Stayed there with the family 2 nights during the week. Rooms were nice and clean, check in was fast front desk clerk (Stephanie) was very courteous and let us check in early. I have to say everything was good up until check out. There was a guest in front of me as I waited to check out and the same clerk was helping him, as I waited she did acknowledge me and told me she would be right with me, However there was someone in the back office (Alkah?) interrupting her and she was trying to help the guest check out this lady was making small talk (pushing herself on the guest) even though he showed no interest in having a conversation with her. HELLO?!!Instead of wasting his time and mine she could have helped me as all I needed was a receipt for my landlord. It was a long drive and after driving around looking for a place to lodge with out success(every hotel seemed to be sold out) I came across the Comfort Inn. As soon as I approached the lobby the night person greeted me and got m right into a room. the rates were very reasonable and the service was great from the time we checked in to check-out very courteous and helpful staff, Rooms were clean and comfortable, their morning breakfast had many options. Watch out for this hotel. They have a billing system that is beyond belief. Originally reserved 11 nights with an estimated cost of $2860.00. Ended up completing the business travel early and tried to check out. The bill for my stay was $1008.00. Their system showed a balance of $1456.00, the amount for the unused days of my reservation. They charged my credit card this "balance" of $1456.00. Over billed by $448.00. It took 2.5 hours to get a receipt that showed the correct amount of room charges with a refund of the $448.00 over charge. WOW. A checkout should take two minutes, not 2 1/2 hours. Now here is the kicker.The "refund" has not posted to my credit card and now there are 4 separate charges of varying amounts totaling over $3400.00 for a bill of $1008.00. I have traveled to 22 countries and all across the U.S. and have never seen a billing system this broke even in the most back water of places. Watch out and hang on to your wallet.
