Exquisitely built and decorated boutique inn. Quiet (especially the back rooms), quite peaceful, well-situated, and a caring staff. Casual elegance, with a nice breakfast served around a circular table, often with interesting guests.

It felt like we were stepping back in time about 100 years--visually. so many cute touches. The queen bed was comfortable! At night, we could here the owls hooting to eachother. After having coffee in our room, we strolled in to town, which small and photogenic. Restaurants are walking distance. I love the back yard! It is full of surprises. If you like nature, you should checkout out. The room is on the second floor with a steep stairway which could be difficult for someone in a wheelchair. We are looking forward to our next adventure in Pescadero, and staying in the McMormic House.

Lisa is this most friendly and thoughtful of hostesses and has lovingly put together an upstairs suite (each of 2 rooms sleeps 2 adults, and possibly, one child) full of homey details. It's sort of upscale English/Americana Country Chic with many thoughtful features with the guest in mind. I immediately felt at home: it was quiet, the energy was blissful and we had two great nights. The room was soothing, large, full of awesome reading material and no distractions from outside or the room next door. My man is a vegetarian and we came with a cooler full of eating options. We didn't know, but the room comes well-stocked with Peet's (YES PEET'S!) coffee and Tazo teas. We didn't need our hastily packed paper plates, cups or utensils, because real china, silverware and many other little snacks were provided (free of charge). What a find! For those of your picky Yelpers, there is no "breakfast" at this B&B, but instead they leave you with nice biscuits/scones to accompany your free coffee or tea. You are within one block of the entire downtown Pescadero town, and naturally, you probably want to eat at Duarte's anyway. I believe it has a 2 night minimum for one room at $98/night, other arrangements, see website or call Lisa. I will definitely be back, and after checking into the other B&B's available in Pescadero, that this is the best priced, more welcoming place from Marin to Silicon! ~ Ms. Ali

I called ahead the day prior to my stay asking for early check in. The person on the phone with me…read morethen confirmed my booking, and that I would have early check in. She said I could arrive as early as 10AM, and I told her I would be there between 12 and 1PM. Then the next day, I arrived at the time I had communicated, and walked into the lobby and up to the front desk. Before I even had the chance to speak, the man at the desk sighed and rolled his eyes. I told him we are there for early check in. He then gave me attitude, saying "maam there is no early check in, cant you see all these people waiting." I said, um ok, but I called yesterday and it was confirmed. He said no there is no early check in, then that it is by availability only, and that it would be unfair to check me in when all these other people are already waiting. Not once was he kind or hospitable, he was only irritated by my presence the second he saw me. He did not even ask for my booking, he provided no solution or care, he pretty much just wanted me to leave. So I said "ok, even though I called yesterday and it was confirmed by staff? I guess I will go sit down then." I and my partner then sat in the lobby, not sure what to do. We did not have time to wait for the normal check in, which is why I had arranged for early. If it had become unavailable and he was nice about it, I would have understood. Hopefully he'd help figure something else out. But he treated me so poorly, it was unbelievable. But then around 5 minutes later, magically, the man then comes up to us and asks for the name on my booking and he checks us in. No apology. Not sure what changed, but that was a very infuriating experience, and extremely unprofessional. In the room, room 102, the security door stop was broken. The heater smelled like it was burning. Obviously will never stay here again. Honestly, I should be refunded for that man's attitude alone. Absolutely ridiculous, I have never had a worse experience.

It also had a small fridge with decent freezer space and microwave oven in room. Safe in room was good size it fit a laptop, 3 IPads & room for other items. Bathroom had modern shower with Neutrogena Soap & Shampoo from dispensers in shower. Large Shower towels that were also soft. Only complaint was the bed was very firm. They serve a complimentary breakfast with both hot (omelette, potatoes, sausage, toast, bagels and waffle maker) & cold items (Cereal, yogurt, juices). There is a small area (approx 8 - 2 seat tables) We enjoyed our stay (wish the bed was a little softer though). We would stay here again if in the area and needed a place to stay. The staff is also helpful!

For anyone not familiar with the traditional British breakfast of soft boiled eggs in the cups where you crack the top off and slice the toast into little strips for dipping into the soft yolk, this is one of the only places you can get this treat in all of the State of California! We loved the Vagabond's House! The beds were very comfortable, we had an upgraded bathroom and plenty of space. Staff was very nice and helpful.

The staff was warm and welcoming, and the happy hour with wine, cheese, and fruit was a great touch. The courtyard with the stone fire pit and waterfall is beautiful and makes the whole place feel extra inviting. You also really can't beat the location--it's an easy walk to the village, shops, restaurants, galleries, and the beach. Our room was updated, very clean, and well-appointed with a fireplace, large TV, microwave, fridge, and a nicely renovated bathroom. Now for the downsides... Carmel happened to be in a heat wave while we were there, and the room was HOT. There's no AC, and the tiny fan they gave us barely made a difference. It definitely made sleeping uncomfortable. But the biggest disappointment by far was the breakfast. For the price you're paying per night, it was honestly shocking how underwhelming it was. The only protein option was hard-boiled eggs (and if you don't eat eggs, you're out of luck). Everything else felt like the bare minimum--mediocre toast, bagels, croissants, granola, yogurt, etc. The yogurt was so watery we couldn't even eat it, and the rest was just very basic and forgettable. We did appreciate that it was delivered directly to our room. Overall, we did enjoy the stay because of the charm, location, and friendly staff, but the heat and especially the breakfast were definite letdowns. We'd consider coming back, but with much lower expectations for the food--and definitely not during a heat wave.

The area is on a busy street, and the parking was a little confusing at first, but once we figured it out, everything was easy. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a mini fridge and microwave, which were exactly what we needed. I also appreciated that the bathroom was stocked with Dove toiletries. The only part that left a bad impression was check in. The employee helping us assumed the two people behind us were part of our reservation and made a comment about there only being room for two. Since we had reserved a room with a sofa bed, the comment felt unnecessary and made for an awkward first impression. Everything else was great. The continental breakfast was clean and well stocked with hot and cold options, and the employee working the breakfast area did an excellent job keeping everything organized. The coffee wasn't my favorite, and I wish the TVs were smart TVs instead of cable only, but those were minor things. Check out was quick, and the front desk employee that morning was very friendly. Overall, this hotel worked perfectly for what my mom and I needed, and I would stay here again if I needed to be in the area.

We were exhausted, and ready to hit the hay after a quick shower. This location is new to us and we didn't know it would be kind of right on the main road, but the building was pretty easy to find with GPS even though it was quite dark out. The street this hotel is on was kind of sketchy in some parts, but it is Rewood City, so it was still pretty safe. We parked quickly and went into the lobby to check in. We had to wait about 5 minutes as someone else was checking in who actually just booked in person and paid cash. Thankfully it looked like he just last minute needed a place to stay with his girlfriend/wife and it wasn't like a motel transaction going on. In any case, we got checked in and went up to our room on 2nd floor. I thought about asking for a room on the 3rd floor in case we would hear noise from the floor above, but any noise was well insulated enough that it was quite quiet all night. From the photos you can see it's standard HIE room layout, decor, bedding, bathroom set-up. All of it were pretty clean and smelled fresh if a little strong of chemicals. The only thing were that there's not enough hangers and the bench was worn out. The beds were standard hotel queens, comfortable, but not as big as real queens, so more like doubles. The shower was strong but a little weird to operate. We slept pretty well, and the AC cycled on and off to cool the room but we set it so we wouldn't freeze. Next morning, we went down to the first floor for the breakfast which was pretty standard HIE fare. There were quite a lot of guests, so the room got a bit crowded but the staff replenished the food quickly and people came and went so there was room enough for those who wanted to eat there rather than take back to their room. We ate and then packed up and checked out. My husband and kids checked out the fitness room and said it was literally just a couple of treadmills and that was it, there were no free weights or anything else, so that was disappointing. There's also no pools or a spa here so if you're looking for those amenities, this is not the right hotel for you. Overall, if was a good stay, but we probably wouldn't come back if we were not just passing through and needed a place to stay for the night before getting back.
