The only reason I'll give this two stars is because the view from my room was nice and the staff (not management, I'll get to that in a moment) seemed really friendly. I went down to their market to purchase a Starbucks Frappucino and noticed that it was expired. I went through the other drinks and found that every single Starbucks drink was expired. Out of curiosity, I looked at the other items and found that almost everything was expired by at least a month, some items expired in 2025! I was pretty disgusted so I went to the nearby Dollar Tree to grab some snacks. My television caused problems all night-it wouldn't turn on, but then it would but the remote wouldn't work. After three separate attempts to get my TV working, I gave up. The next morning at breakfast, I noticed some expired items as well. Some of the creamers near the coffee area were expired, the hard boiled eggs were shriveled and slimy, and the bread was stale. It didn't surprise me, considering the entire store front was expired as well. I think the worst part was as I was checking out. There was a cockroach in the bathroom. I went downstairs to let the front desk know, and went down to the coffee area to get one more coffee (minus the expired creamer) and as I was walking past the desk to leave, I overheard a woman, who I am assuming was management, say "she's just trying to get a free room, we have no cockroaches." Clearly she was talking about me, which was the final nail for me. To shrug off a very real complaint and claim that I was a liar definitely leads me to believe that management is fully aware of what is going on inside their building, they just don't care. I will never stay there again when I'm in town. read more

So I started by contacting the comfort inn in Huron Ohio letting them know my experience with them on my check in .they couldn't find us because of a misspelling of our name but we had a confirmation number that should of been enough after us calling the number on our phone next to the confirmation number they found us. My reply back from the was DEAR DAVID my name is Becky and my husband Bob what an insult plus they state I ordered with an outside company.The only number to reserve a room was this 800 number which told me when you register at the inn tell them you have AARP they'll adjust you NOPE never happened. 3.5/5 so I'll round up to 4. We booked this hotel on Hotwire - my first time using it - at a great deal, about $140 for the night ... On the Choice Hotels website it was $168 (AAA rate) for a room with two doubles, or $190 for a king room with sofabed. Hotwire assigned us a room with two doubles, but I called the hotel and they were able to switch us to a king room, which was great; we had two kids, who took the sofabed, and two adults. We actually had a river view which was nice too, we checked in around 1230am though after Cedar Point so I didn't realize it until the next day. Overall the hotel is quiet at night except our room was by the stairs, so there was a little noise, and my friend said she heard the trains a few times. Our king bed was super comfortable and her kids said the sofabed was comfortable too. The bathroom was pretty plain but was functional, although the toilet was a little loud. I was impressed by breakfast the next day, as they offered traditional options like donuts and muffins, as well as hot options like eggs, sausage patties, and make-your-own waffles. They even had yogurt and eggs, in a mini fridge. The only thing I can complain about is that the room is a little small - there was only one or two tables left when I went to sit down. Check-in was quick and efficient too, I didn't get the employee's name but she was very professional and chipper, which impressed me especially since it was past midnight at that point. We didn't have any pillows or sheets for the sofabed, but my friend went back downstairs and returned with some. Overall I'd definitely stay here again, it's only about a 15-minute drive from Cedar Point which was convenient ... Originally we had booked a different Comfort Inn, in Fremont, OH (a 40-minute drive from CP) so I'm glad we were able to cancel that reservation and switch to River's Edge. read more

On an outward appearance the hotel looks great. Nice newly paved parking lot with a lot of lights. The backdrop is the river and there is a boardwalk with a lighthouse at the end. Only one entrance to get in the hotel, while weird actually isn't a bad idea. The staff is pretty friendly but that's where it kind of ends. We had three rooms. Two of the three rooms had problems to the point one room was relocated to the honeymoon suite on the first floor. The first room that needed to be changed but then they couldn't get it the cable to work either. My room didn't have a fridge, broken toilet seat, toilet that needed to be plunged because it wouldn't flush, lukewarm water (jacuzzi tub and no hot water). The pool water so FREEZING! I jumped in and nearly shivered to death. We asked and they first said the heater had broke but two hours later it was back on. Hmmmph. Continental breakfast is what is. Well, let's see...... This appeared to be a great hotel from the outside. Nice exterior, right next to the river, and the grounds were pretty clean. Although I have to say, I have never seen a bowling alley next to a hotel before, that was definitely a first. When you walk inside, you can definitely tell this hotel didn't start out as a Comfort Inn. It looks like it desperately needs a makeover and\or an update. So, I went to check in. No one is at the front desk. I see a sign on the counter that says something like "stand under the sensor and someone will be right with you." I was confused and then I looked up to the ceiling and see a motion detector pointing down at me (definitely another first). The person that was smoking outside the front door when I came in was actually the front desk person. She was pretty nice, got me checked in fast, and handed me my room key. She also told me that my room key wouldn't work in the separate entrances apart from the main door (another first). Got to the room and it was pretty clean but didn't really have any wow factor. I had a river view room, but I couldn't see clearly from the dirty room windows. Even the room seems like a hotel from the '80s or '90s. I have a wobbly desk that I am writing this on, a side chair with no ottoman, a water faucet in the bathtub that keeps dripping water, a fridge that barely keeps cans cold, a bathtub with no stopper, an A\C unit that kind of smells musty, a TV that has no premium channels or streaming options. But, at least the free WIFI works. This place is suitable for a couple of days of a work trip, and that is about it. I have stayed at some excellent Comfort Inns across the country. read more

We loved this place! This is not a brand new hotel but it's beautiful and we'll maintained. 3 floors with a nice elevator. Located right on the water (Huron River). About 10 miles from Cedar Point Park and 22 minute drive to Summit Dragway. The staff was all super friendly, parking is free and very close, free coffee and ice water in lobby. Free full breakfast in a nice comfortable dining room. Our room has a refrigerator and microwave. Absolutely no complaints. read more

The hotel had a beautiful view. The issue was that I stayed in two different rooms. The first night was awesome. The room was amazing. It looked clean and updated. The second room made me feel that I changed hotels. The room was worn, old looking, musty and didn't feel clean. The curtains were ripped. Also, I had booked and paid for a room with the view of the water but was not given that room. I was told they had king available but yet I paid the extra for the view. It also drove me crazy that the breakfast area had all the forks and spoons upright where people touched the parts you eat with when grabbing one. As far as the food, both mornings they were out of food prior to breakfast hours being over. The lady working seemed annoyed that she had to keep getting more food to put out (meanwhile both mornings had people waiting on food) . It's 50/50 if I would stay here again. read more

I'm glad that I followed the advice in the reviews. We stayed here and it was great. It is a short walk from Lake Erie and two parks. It was a great price and was clean and well cared for. The staff was nice. We especially liked the two women who staffed the free grab-n-go breakfast. A river view on top of everything I said and it adds up to we will surely be back. read more

AWESOME LOCATION! The common areas could use some attention. The public laundry area was useless. Neither machine worked properly. I stayed there for four nights and each morning the breakfast area was nicely maintained except on Tuesday it look like a bomb had gone off in there! Absolute pandemonium and filth everywhere. The automatic coffee was actually good and available all day and night. if you're not picky this carbohydrate rich cafeteria quality breakfast will do you fine. THE EGGS ARE OBVIOUSLY FROM A POWDER MIX and NOT from an egg at all!!! AND cooked in the microwave in a plastic bowl and then put in a chafing dish. REALLY? If you want something hearty, go right across the street to the bowling alley, they have amazing breakfast Tuesday through Sunday with locally made sausages and everything made homemade style. We ate there 3 times and it was good family service. The carpet in my room was filthy. There was no ventilation or exhaust fan working in the bathroom. We had a lamp in the corner with no place to plug it in within 10 feet of either side. Both beds sagged and weren't very comfortable. It was easy to get to Cedar Point. The Lighthouse is walking distance and beautiful. Cute Cantina directly next door. THE HARBOR HOUSE SHOULD BE AVOIDED. Good place to stay at especially if you are going to Cedar Point Amusement Park. The drive from here to there is about 10 miles. We found this place off of Hotels.com after looking at all others that were right next to the park averaging almost 200 dollars a night. We got this place for about 100 a night. For our family of 4 we got a room with 2 double beds, microwave, small fridge, and coffee maker. The bathroom was nice and the shower was easy to operate with the water staying hot even though all 4 us took a shower right after the other. You get free wifi and free breakfast from 6 to 10 am. The wifi you dont need a password. You just agree to the terms. It's not the blazing fast kind that allows you to stream videos on your phone or laptop but it gets the job done with basic emails and internet surfing. For breakfast you can make your own waffles, there are 3 types of cereal, you have pastries like donuts, bagels and muffins with plenty of cream cheese, butter, peanut butter, and jelly. There is also yogurt. For the hot foods besides the do yourself waffles there are fried eggs, breakfast sausages, and ham. The indoor pool is open from 7 am to 10 pm. Didnt get to check if their gym was any good. The staff was very good in regards to fulfilling our needs and just all around polite. All in all, I thought the two nights we stayed there were very pleasant. Only thing that kind of bothered me was that the beds were double sized instead of queen. So I"m thinking this will be the hotel my family and I will stay at every time we come to Cedar Point. The hotel is about 15 minutes from the park, but it's an easy drive with some amazing views of the river along the way. Speaking of the river, the hotel sits right on Huron River. Hotel has an outdoor patio where my husband and I enjoyed our coffee and breakfast every morning overlooking the river and early morning boat riders. While our room did not have a view of the river, I believe you can upgrade to get one, but we didn't find it to be a big deal since we spent most of the day at Cedar Point anyway and could always go to the hotel patio. The hotel is pricier than other hotels nearby but the hotel is clean, has the awesome river views, free hot breakfast provided, free parking, and a great indoor pool and outside patio. The internet is free but it kept going in and out which became pretty annoying. The tv has quite a big of channels available which was nice. Things you should know - Right next to the hotel is Harbor House restaurant which offers an outdoor bar and live entertainment. The live band was on from about 6-10:30pm and the bandstand is right next to the hotel. Beware, if you are choosing this hotel for a business trip and/or need to be in bed early - the live band music can be a problem as it does get pretty loud. I suppose you could request a room on the opposite end of the hotel so the sound shouldn't be a problem. Perhaps Harbor House has a schedule of their live events as well so you can plan around it. There is also a train nearby which is noticeable but not bad at all. Also, across the street from the hotel is a bowling alley! My family didn't get a chance to check it out, but we heard good things. If you keep going a short walk down the street, there is a boardwalk, boat docking area, and another bar! There were plenty of people out fishing on the river and just enjoying a walk on the boardwalk. I found the hotel to be quite relaxing and although I didn't love the live music band, I thought it was still a nice touch. There is plenty to do just around the hotel and my family loved the views and indoor pool. We came for one night, but ended up staying an extra night. The staff was very accommodating to us although it was quite pricey for that extra night. This will probably be the only family vacation we have this year so we went ahead and splurged a bit. I knocked off one star for two reasons: 1) Internet was really choppy and 2) at times the service wasn't very good. For example, the two times were were at the indoor pool there weren't any towels available and each time we had to go to the front desk dripping wet to ask for some towels. Also, on our second night I went to the front desk (to ask for towels) and there was no one at the front desk and there wasn't the usual bell there either. However, I could hear the staff giggling and laughing in the back so I had to literally shout to get their attention. I cannot comment on the housekeeping because we kept out "do not disturb" sign up for most of the time we were there. But the room temp was good (you have access to the thermostat/AC) and the bed/pillows were comfy. Microwave and fridge available in the room. Again, breakfast was hot and varied and there is a good sized cafe area to sit and eat. They also offer free lemon water in the lobby. Overall, great experience. I was just there this weekend w/ my family. One of my family member's had really nasty bites all over his feet starting from the 1st night that we were there. We stayed there 2 nights. We only found out today after going to the doctor's that it was bed bug bites. I called Comfort Inn immediately after the diagnosis this morning and had to leave a message w/ whomever answered the phone because the manager wasn't there. Told her what it was about and she should let her know immediately so that something can be done about it asap so no one else gets bit if that's where it originated from. I just called again and the Assistant Manager answered, saying that she just got in at 3pm and just got the message around 4:30pm. That the Manager won't be in until tomorrow. That only she can make the call for a professional inspector to come in and confirm that there is in fact bed bugs. And that the Manager would have to return my call tomorrow. I also confirmed w/ her that there wasn't any manager on duty until she came in at 3pm today. My son and I didn't get bit as we slept inside the sheets of our beds, but my other half wasn't so lucky as he slept on the comforter where we think it was infested. I would think someone of authority would handle this quickly as I am experienced in a bed bug infestation as I was a property manager of a 124-unit senior building and we needed to act quickly as it can spread if not handled correctly. We are very disappointed in their response and didn't even receive an apology for the situation even if it hasn't been confirmed professionally. I call BS on the good reviews. If you have an ounce of class in your blood, you'll hate this place. 1) The elevator didn't work right the two days we were here, which is worse than it not working at all because every time you step into it, you're testing fate. 2) A child must have done the plumbing. The shower head is off center, leaving you unable to aim it anywhere but close to the curtain. Plus, the shower head was installed on the opposite side of the shower from the drain. 3) Aside from the fact that breakfast here is awful, the table setup leaves hardly any room to move around other diners. Their steps are right next to the cafeteria and they take up at least twice as much space as they need. They could easily expand the cafeteria. 4) My brother-in-law's room was infested with fruit flies. Some of these issues are architectural; most are results of being understaffed. I haven't seen more than two employees working at any given time. In fact, there's usually just one. I'm guessing it needs better management. read more

Room smelt badly of mildew. Carpet felt damp. Spider/spiderwebs in corners of room. Comforter had crusty spots with hair stuck to it. Diane, at the front desk, was very rude to us upon check in. She made it seem that she was doing us a huge favor for doing her job of checking us in. This place is pretty nice. I really can't complain for for the price we paid compared to the other hotels that are lesser quality but a little bit closer to the park. This place had clean sheets, a clean bathroom, free breakfast and an indoor pool. the rooms are average sized....it gets a little crowded if you have 4 people in the 2 double bed room. It is somewhat annoying that they are double beds and not queen. the shower was clean and the water stayed hot for as long as we wanted it to. We did have an issue with the water escaping the shower and filling the bathroom floor. We put towels down to soak up the water and ultimately it wasn't a big deal but we weren't doing anything that should warrant water escaping the shower. the pool was OK. No hot tub. The pool was not heated which was a slight disappointment. Breakfast was as decent as you expect free breakfast to be. Waffles, some hot food (eggs, sausage), donuts, bagels, bread, fruit and yogurt. We had a room near the lobby and sound was somewhat of a problem. We could pretty much hear every conversation going on in the hallways word for word. If you're a light sleeper I would recommend requesting a room on a higher floor in the end of the hallway. Overall, I'd say this place did it's job for what we expected and what we paid. It's right on the river so the views are nice and it's about 15 min from Cedar Point. read more

First of all.... THANK YOU Dawn, The Jessicas, Amy, and Mike. These folks are excellent front-desk staff. They were so helpful during our 5-day stay. This is the very first Choice Hotel where staff read the "needed" portion on my reservation. Not only are they on top of their game, they are friendly and a guest can tell they enjoy working there. We arrived on June 17 and stayed through June 24. VALERIE is an EXCELLENT member of the housekeeping team. Having a clean room everyday made our stay exceptional! The beds and rooms were comfortable for a lengthier stay, and the AC worked beautifully! This is one of the cleanest hotels I've experienced, and I promise you that I am a white-glove tester: (lobby, sitting, breakfast areas, and room). Both gals I encountered stocking breakfast were friendly and kept everything well stocked. The view outside our window was glorious. We got up very early on our first morning to take a walk to the lighthouse to see the sunrise. We chose to do a load of laundry before heading home from vacation, and the only complaint I have is that the dryer takes forever! I'm pretty sure the heating element is about to die. It is a great place to stay, but it is a seasonal hotel. read more

I stayed there in May. Decided to go back. They are saying that I accepted the no cancellation rate. Who the hell books no cancellation rate at lake erie 2 weeks in advance. Bad weather forecast so i have to eat 2 nights reservation. Never going back and i dont recommend anyone going there. Manager was nasty about it over the phone. Do not stay there. read more

Visiting cedar point for the weekend and this place is by far one of the best hotels in the area. Besides the noise people were making in the hallway and people slamming the door in the wee hours of the morning. Otherwise this place would of gotten 5 stars from me. Didn't know if it was possible to give NO stars so they get 1...I don't even know where to begin..After driving 3-1/2 hours to get there it took 45 min. to realize they checked in someone else under my reservation ..Once I got to the room the curtains were ripped and the darking curtains had blood on them as well as a large stain on the rug and what appeared to me dried SEAMAN on the chair in the corner...the girl working the front desk was new there and polite and did come to the room to see all this for herself and was apauled..long story short I was charged twice to add insult to injury and was told I would have to have the MANAGER there approve a refund but was told she is there 1-2 times a month so good luck getting a hold of her...I think if your still reading this you get my opinion on this place...I would agree with others on here... if there are any good reviews they are BS... read more

Me and my girlfriend were taking a trip to Cedar Point and required a hotel near the park. This Comfort Inn seemed like a good choice. However, 2 days before the trip, my girlfriend's mom was hospitalized in serious condition. After she was in the hospital for a day, we received word that she would not be discharged until the day after our expected stay at the hotel. I found this out while at work so I couldn't do anything about it at the moment. However, once I got home, i tried to immediately cancel the booking, only to find that I had missed the cancellation window by ONE HOUR. I called the hotel, explained my situation and asked if there was anything they could do to help me out. They answered, "sorry, but no." They didn't seem to be the least bit concerned about their customer or even try to fake as if they did. It made me and my girlfriend feel very undervalued. Do not give this hotel your business. It may be cheaper than the other options but as we found out, you get what you pay for. read more

This hotel was a huge disappointment. We stayed on our weekend trip to Cedar Point and when we got there the room smelled bad, it was so filthy, and the staff was rude. When we came back from the park the next evening the power was out and then we were locked out of our room. Luckily we found a staff member who had a key to let us in. Then when we checked out the next morning the lady checking us out was rude to no end. Now that we know what we do now if that was the only hotel left we would save our money and sleep in our car. I would not recommend anyone to stay at this awful place. And to top it all off my boyfriend woke up one morning while we stayed with bites on his legs. We later found out It was from bed bugs. The room also was muggy and that made the blankets feel wet. The only good thing about this hotel is the staff member who worked the graveyard shift the night the power went out. read more

I am beyond happy with my experience. I, somehow, got screwed over when I booked with Orbitz and was charged a little extra. I called the hotel and they couldn't do anything, but they upgraded us on their own dime. We were happy to find this charming, hidden gem along the river where you can see the lake from the deck. The rooms were clean and had great views. The landscaping was clean and beautiful. The staff was friendly and even hooked us up with an extra night in our upgraded room at a great rate, because we liked the place so much. We will definitely be back. read more

My fiancee and I stayed here for one night in the summer of 2013. The staff were very nice and friendly and the area was beautiful. The cost was very affordable and we'd definitely stay there again if we were ever in the area. I think it was still undergoing some renovations, but you could already see the benefits of the improvements they'd made. read more

Already was intimidated by many of the negative reviews I had seen on google and yelp. I walked in with a hopeful outlook, only to be met with disappointment. While the lobby is updated and clean, the room left little to be desired. There was food and paper stuck to the floor and it smelled musty. The real kicker about this place is the bathroom. My boyfriend and I booked a king size bed room and immediately upon entering I needed to use the bathroom. Wouldn't you know, the "jacuzzi" tub/shower in the bathroom was separated from the actual room by none other than a shower curtain. If you were to open the shower curtain, you could actually watch the person you are sharing the room with sitting on the toilet. You can't make this stuff up. I am thankful we are only here for one night and we most definitely won't be returning. We will be spending most of the night at the bar next door getting drunk enough to forget where we are staying. read more
