Two and a half stars, don't buy it people. This resort is fantastic, the updates they have done are great. I can see from the old picture what the place use to look like and it looks nothing like that now. Nothing fancy about the hotel rooms, they are hotel rooms, they are nice and well kept and up to date, but it's a hotel room and it was comfortable and pleasant and clean. The only thing the room lacked was a coffee machine (but I'm not a coffee snob so no loss star for that, but it would be a nice amenity to add). This resort has two pools, one indoor with a hot tub and one outdoor, the outdoor one is big and nice and has 5 or 6 cabana's surrounding it. We didn't get to use the outdoor one due to the weather. If you are staying here while visiting Cedar Point it's only 10 minutes away and if you want to stay here just to get away and have some quiet then it's a good spot for that too. I'm sure due to the resorts connection with Cedar Point (it's own by Cedar Fair, Cedar Points parenting company) that in the summer there are a lot of families and thus more kids. The resort is very well appointed, a beautiful lobby with a two sided fire place. Great spaces to read, work or study. A huge fire pit outback for a gathering and cool creeks and bridges on the back of the property. There is also the Miller restaurant which had an incredible menu, but went for cheaper since there are 5 of us and they have an all you can eat breakfast buffet in the morning $19.95 for adults and $11.95 for kids, the menu looked great as well. There is a bar and one upstairs (The Hideaway) that looked cool but was not open. The creekside market was perfect to get a coffee (they serve Starbucks), some grab and go snacks and even breakfast. They also had ice cream. Yes, all this is right on sight, you don't have to go anywhere, plus Mulligan's Pub a short walk (maybe 2 minutes) from the resort at the golf clubhouse looked awesome and has a nice patio on the back overlooking a pond. We really liked the feel and look of the property and the service was very good. It's a bit pricey but when you are so close to Cedar Point, the price was better than the comfort inn, sleep inn or other hotels like that, plus you get the whole resort feel, so I don't think you can beat the price, they do have a AAA discount as well. Don't let the poor Yelp rating fool you, this place has gotten much better after the remodel and it a great find and totally worth it, you won't be disappointed at all.

We spent the holiday in Huron with my family and stayed at Sawmill. Cedar Fair did a nice job renovating the property which was greatly needed. Room was clean and comfortable, all staff encountered were friendly and helpful. The property was decorated beautifully for the holidays and the holiday entertainment was well done and a nice surprise.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO TURN OFF THE NOISY SAWMILL AT NIGHT SO PEOPLE CAN SLEEP!!!! Sadly, for all of the potential, our supposed peaceful, relaxing weekend turned into two sleep-deprived nights of attrition in which we couldn't wait to get back home to enjoy some peace and quiet. We went for the weekend of August 25-27, 2023, right after some very heavy weather such that the golf course and shop were closed and the grounds were flooded in some places. Sawmill Creek has some potential, but not being able to get a enough sleep is a huge problem. If one doesn't need to sleep then this is not a issue, but a hotel is for resting and this is where Sawmill Creek failed horribly. There is no sound-proofing between the rooms or from the hallway and no enforcement of quiet hours or excessive noise limits. Add to the mix a horde of drunk wedding guests running up and down the halls at ALL hours of the night, screaming, yelling and slamming doors with minimal intervention by management and even the most amenable hotel guest will become upset. Here is a profound idea for management: put all the wedding guests in the same wings away from everyone else. Additional revelations: insulate between the rooms, seal under the doors, have posted quiet hours, and have all guests sign that they understand they can be booted for excessive noise...and then follow through. They certainly made sure that we signed at check-in that we understood there was no smoking and that we were responsible for damages. We go to Las Vegas quite often for fun and have stayed at many hotels on the strip. Vegas runs all day and all night and NEVER once have we had a noise problem at any one the massive hotels in which we stayed, even over holidays. As it is, our weekend was ruined by poor sleeping conditions and we will never again stay at Sawmill Creek. I have already advised many at work and continue to recommend to family, friends, colleagues and students of the shortcomings at Sawmill Creek. Both the food and service at the in-house restaurant were good and we enjoyed walking some of the accessible trails on the golf course. The breakfast buffet was okay--not great but not terrible--without many options for vegans, gluten-free, muslims (i.e. anyone with special dietary requirements). On the first evening a family had checked in next door and we realized that the connecting door and walls between rooms were not soundproofed and there was a gap under the door to allow the full cacophony from the hallway to keep all guests in the action whether they want to be or not. Being able to hear the family in the next room and conversations between spouses in bed was not the best, and left me wishing they had just supplied earplugs at check-in. However, this does nothing for the steadfast noise from the hall through the night into the early morning: The first night, drunken groups of rehearsal dinner guests clomped up the hall loudly discussing if they should go out to drink more or do things together in the rooms. The second night, drunken wedding guests slammed doors, conversed about what they should/shouldn't do, hooked up and moved from one room to another, and caught everyone on the entire floor up on what gossip we missed at the wedding. The high point was a loud shouting match between a drunken son and father from about 11pm-1am in which they aired a lot of family laundry, slammed doors, screamed and cursed, threatened to leave (yet didn't) and basically made it even easier not to get a good night's sleep. Thankfully, after several hours of complaints and excessive noise, a "responsive" hotel representative loudly clomped up the hall, knocked on the door of the father and son's room and loudly stated that he was "security" and that several had called to complain as they were keeping their neighbors up. Thus, management responded just one time... I would like to point out some good things that sadly were overshadowed by the sleep-deprivation conditions: --the room amenities are very comfortable, and we loved the walk-in shower. --housekeeping was very good and even checked back after our rooms had been cleaned to see if we needed anything else.

Mothers Day Brunch was a Zoo! Nice spread w/ lotsa options! High end selection and great service! Some items were prepared too early though and weren't fresh like the normal brunch but is expected w/ this much volume. They expected 1800 guests that day. Nevertheless I ate til I was delirious! $25/person included beverages and tip.

    Poop in the hallway!

Our family had our 96 year old Dad's Celebration of Life at the Wild Waves compound. We discovered…read morethe property in January while it was under several feet of snow, and closed. We made arrangements on the phone with Cindy to reserve all 6 motel rooms, the pavilion and the attached 3 BR house. The motel rooms: Each had something different to offer. All were very large. All had fridge, microwave, full size drip coffee maker and 2 queen size beds. Room 2 had a kitchenette and room 6 has a sliding glass door with a small patio and view of the sunset. We were there in the very beginning of the season and the motel rooms were a bit "musty". We live near the ocean so we knew what to expect when a property is closed up for a period of time and brought some diffusers and essential oils. This made everything perfect. I imagine as the season rolls along, the musty-ness goes away. The towels and linens were great and the pillows very comfortable What to bring when staying in the motel: coffee and condiments, coffee cups, hair dryer, cooler for ice or bring some extra plastic ice cube trays, bathrobe. You don't get the fancy, extra swag that you get at the high priced hotels. The attached house: All linens and towels were provided and checked on every day. Plates, glassware, cups, pots and pans, silverware, drip coffee maker, tea kettle, and a few serving pieces are provided. There is one ice cube tray in the full size refrigerator. Full size washer and dryer. We bought bags of ice at the marina down the street. There is also a growing (I'm assuming) amount of stuff that people leave. Foil, baggies, laundry detergent, paper plates, paper towels ice etc. I wouldn't depend on those things, but maybe call Cindy the day before you leave to see what's there so you don't drag it there. We liked having a large cooler for beer and extra ice. There is a gas grill and a picnic table on one patio, an enclosed porch with seating and an outside porch with seating. Also a nice size "mud room" with lots of storage and places to hang jackets and purses. Beach chairs are provided down at the beach as well as fire wood for fires. There is plenty of green space for out door games. The pavilion: This is the jewel of the property!!!!!! IT IS STUNNING! Inside has a bar and full size refrigerator. And plenty of room for tables. We set up our food tables (3 6 ft tables) and there was still plenty of room. I couldn't tell if there was AC. The temp was very comfortable. This building has a covered outside area that comfortably seats at least 30 people. Round black wrought iron tables and chairs. About 6 or 7 low top tables that could seat 5. Below the covered space is an open deck that had a mixture of low top tables and high tip pub wrought iron tables and chairs. Could seat another 30 people at least. THE BEST PART OF THIS AREA IS THE NIGHTLY SUNSET. THERE ARE NO WORDS!!!!! Cindy, our hostess: Where would we be without her????? I hate to think. She was engaging from the get go in December. She helped us narrow down the caterer, rolled along when we changed the guests in the motel rooms, we changed the number of nights several times and was at our beck and call the minute we arrived. If she was leaving for the day, she would say "just give me a call if you need anything"!!!! She helped us haul all of our stuff down to the pavilion for the celebration, and kept the trash cans from overflowing. She did everything very unobtrusively. Hardly knew she was there. Cindy was so friendly and helpful. A true hostess! We have decided to replicate this trip (without the funeral part!) every 2 years to meet up with friends and relatives. Can't beat the value, accommodations or especially the hospitality! Would live here year round if I could!

Knowing that economy was a priority, I was anxious - but we loved it here! The private beach is amazing, and the HUGE yard/property was beautiful. A fire pit and a pile of wood was even available for our use, along with plenty of lawn/beach chairs. This is a traditional "motel" (Not hotel) setup, but with only 6 units, it felt more private, and with much cleaner and larger rooms than normal, and homey accoutrements, not to mention a full size refrigerator, which was invaluable to my family of 4, since we were there for 4 days. We spent 2 days on the beach relaxing and 2 at Cedar Point, which is less than a half hour away. Lastly, Patti, the owner, with whom you personally deal throughout your entire experience, is a delight! Friendly, unpretentious, thorough, and obviously caring. If/when we ever come back this way- we will call Patti. For the location, beach, and local family ownership- I can't imagine more bang for the buck.

I went down to their market to purchase a Starbucks Frappucino and noticed that it was expired. I went through the other drinks and found that every single Starbucks drink was expired. Out of curiosity, I looked at the other items and found that almost everything was expired by at least a month, some items expired in 2025! I was pretty disgusted so I went to the nearby Dollar Tree to grab some snacks. My television caused problems all night-it wouldn't turn on, but then it would but the remote wouldn't work. After three separate attempts to get my TV working, I gave up. The next morning at breakfast, I noticed some expired items as well. Some of the creamers near the coffee area were expired, the hard boiled eggs were shriveled and slimy, and the bread was stale. It didn't surprise me, considering the entire store front was expired as well. I think the worst part was as I was checking out. There was a cockroach in the bathroom. I went downstairs to let the front desk know, and went down to the coffee area to get one more coffee (minus the expired creamer) and as I was walking past the desk to leave, I overheard a woman, who I am assuming was management, say "she's just trying to get a free room, we have no cockroaches." Clearly she was talking about me, which was the final nail for me. To shrug off a very real complaint and claim that I was a liar definitely leads me to believe that management is fully aware of what is going on inside their building, they just don't care. I will never stay there again when I'm in town.

You are allowed to start your fun before the room is ready, which is good because the waterpark closes at 8 and opens at 10 am. You can also continue to play after check out. We found this very nice because you wouldn't get much time to play if not. Our room was ready early but our bands didn't open our room so they gave us new ones. The girls working were friendly and helped us sort it out quickly. We were disappointed to find hair in both of our beds. We called and requested fresh bedding because we wanted to get playing. They never came but they did give us a new room, also with hair on the sheets. Our cleaning person came in and we watched her replace the pillowcases with clean right off the cart and guess what? Still hair! This is a laundry issue but we were relieved to know it wasn't because our beds were dirty. This was our only negative issue. Our room was clean and spacious. The pull out sofa wasn't the most comfy but we were so wore out we slept well. The Waterpark wasn't very crowded and it was very fun for our boys! My grandson said he felt like a VIP and they will both remember this fun time. The workers keep a very good eye on things. We felt safe. The kiosk check in process was a breeze, and I LOVE that water park wristbands double as room keys because it's one less thing to worry about losing. The onsite Dunkin offered good food at reasonable prices. The drinks were really good and felt like they justified their price because they were huge. The hotel rooms were very nice. The arcade was nice, and provided a good variety of games. The bad: Paying for parking is a huge turn-off. It's $20 per day just to park in an ordinary parking lot, which seems like an excessive charge that the resort knows it can get away with because people have to park. Strategies like that feel like they're trying to squeeze every nickel and dime out of patrons. The water park, itself, isn't great. There's two nice-sized tube slides and some very short body slides. The lazy river is also very short and filled with empty tubes in a way that feels claustrophobic. The hot tubs are nice. But it just doesn't feel like there's anything particularly exciting to do. Once you've been down the slides a few times and checked out the hot tubs, that's mostly it unless you're a little kid (there's a few activities that are geared for young kids). Overall: If you want a good resort experience, you can get it here. If you want a good water park experience, you've got much better options nearby.

I wouldnt have bought it but my DIL had picked it out with my grandson, thinking it was $15 , as the other ones she was looking at were. Perhaps it was priced wrong. The room we booked was a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite with patio door to outside seating area. It was super spacious, clean and comfortable. The parking is quite a distance from the front entrance so if you have trouble walking you should use valet or have someone else in your party drop you off before they park. Also if you have a wagon or are using hotel cart to bring in your luggage you have cant use the boardwalk because it has 2 sets of stairs. You have to go the long way around, the roadway that requires you to walk up an incline. You will get a good workout. The waterpark was good. The kids area was boring though. A bucket dumps water out occasionally but other than that you just walk up to different levels and then down again. Water comes down from above in some areas like a hard rain. The baby area has 4 swings and 2 little slides. It is a tiny area. We enjoyed the wave pool which has skylights above so it is bright. The other areas are kind of dark and gloomy. The room itself was... fine. We got a suite so the size was nice and the beds were clean and comfy, but the bathroom is bizarre. First, there is no fan in the toilet area. HUGE no-no and seems like an easy fix. Second, the sink is outside of the bathroom. I can see how if you have multiple people getting ready this could speed things up, but without a fan blocking some of the, ahem, noise, it makes things supremely awkward. The rooms could use a makeover/upgrade, but the facility overall is quite nice and huge.

The bread and butter prior to the meal was excellent. I also enjoyed the Charcuterie and the French Onion Soup. For my meal I ordered the Almond Crusted Walleye figuring that some fresh local fish would be a strong choice. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. Plenty of toppings for your pancakes, as well as toppings for yogurt and oatmeal too. Large variety of breads and carbs. It was perfect before a long day at Cedar Point! All staff was so nice and welcoming during our entire stay. Pet friendly!

The pool hours are long 7am-11pm but if you are looking for a big pool to swim in, this won't be for you. The entire pool is 3ft 9" and it's cold as ice. If you just wanna cool off for a few minutes then it's fine but to actually swim no. Also it is incredibly small and if more than one family gets in there, you will all be on top of each other. The breakfast area is clean and well-maintained. The attendants are super nice and friendly and they make sure you have what you need. The breakfast isn't horrible but it isn't the best. Eggs are a little runny for my liking but overall it isn't too bad. The rooms are large and clean. Everything worked, nothing was dirty. Room wise I have zero complaints. Beds are very comfortable. Very very quiet our entire stay! Overall one of the best hotels I've stayed at in a long time.

The room was not clean when we checked in. The toilet was nasty, bathroom floor not clean. Toilet paper empty. The housecleaning never cleaned our room when we was out for the day. We had to go to front desk and get new towls for the next day . I even seen the housecleaning ladies and told them we just left our room that they could go in to clean and still didn't get cleaned .
