Housekeeping is bad, they never cleaned my room the first day, the second day they came in and made the bed without changing the sheets, no vacuuming, no cleaning of the bath area, and when they left, they left my room door open! Stayed here when our power went out. Got a great rate online as a last minute deal. Staff was friendly and professional. Rooms were quiet and clean. The only downfall was the breakfast. Breakfast times end too early on the week days. We arrive for breakfast at 8:30 am and the only things left were bagels (one cream cheese) and cereal. I mentioned it to the front desk and they said they will stock more items but I already picked my bagels. They said breakfasts will be much better and bigger once their renovations are done. read more

Well I booked with Priceline. They took my money but when I got to the hotel, I found out it was a $250 deposit, which was never stated when I booked online. So I was out of $106 because I was never allowed to use the room because I didn't have the deposit. read more

My brother found a few places and this was close and convenient for our needs. Price wise plenty of value here veterans discount, continental breakfast was good variety, of hot and cold choices. Some things I settled for no pool ok no microwave ok no fridge ok. On the plus side we got a great room with a pair of queen beds no sign of bed bugs. Two types of pillows large TV good AC. Window wall unit. The bathroom shower had a curved curtain rod for extra space and the new bars of soap were shaped as if they were used a few days. What a nice feature. The other guest were pretty careless with the door closing so it was a little noisy till everyone settled in for the night. Front staff was nice for checking in and out. I gave the two stars strictly for the price. We stayed two nights with complimentary breakfast for about 50 a night. The room size was decent, with a nice size tv, fridge and microwave. Everything else was not the best. When anyone would take a shower near us it sounded like the pipes were going to burst. My pillow was stained or dirty. The shower knob was rusted. Room service never came to clean our room the two days we were there. We did have DND for one more but not any other point. The staff is in scrubs and it's really confusing. We didn't realize that was the uniform. And it seems like they don't like to wear that because of the comments they get. We had someone come to see why our tv wasn't working. My Dad mentioned something about the scrubs and he said I get asked at least 3x a week. Thankfully he fixed the tv. However anytime you turn it off and try to turn it on. It doesn't have signal. Also our iron didn't work. They were sold out that night, but the guy found a new one he switched out. Every time we went for breakfast all the hot food was gone. It took about 10-15m for the employee to refill. Each day they seemed busy and not sure if another employee would help for extra set of hands or it might just be a barrier since the kitchen looks tight. But both morning they were pleasant and hustling. Just seemed overwhelmed. The variety was good. From yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash brown, waffle maker, all types of breads and jelly's, cereal, and oatmeal. read more

The only reason we even stayed here is because they are a pet friendly hotel which was hard to find, being last minute and to the area we needed to be in. The room with two queens was $100. Couldn't find a sitter for our pets so they had to come with us. Just know if you do check in with a let they will hold a $100 deposit on your card for any incidental damages I guess. It's a no frills hotel at best, outdated kinda clean. Cleaner than I thought it was gonna be but still grimey if that makes sense. Air vents need to be cleaned. Had dust, debris and a bottle cap in there. Not even gonna take a guess how long they've been there. I would think it be a good idea to keep clean because we're breathing what comes out. Other than that the room was fine, is what it is. I knew I didn't book the Ritz here. Right off Hall Road and M53 make it convenient and that's about it. We arrived pretty late and wandered the nearby row of hotels like mary and joseph in search of an empty stable for the night. After being met by a snooty desk clerk at Holiday Inn Express when we didn't feel like paying $130 a night and met by a snooty desk clerk,(The Westin in downtown San Francisco, next to the 4 Seasons is $140 a night for some context) we ended up at Comfort Inn on the other side of the freeway. We mentioned our AAA membership and received an awesome first time customer discount. For $80 we were able to get a sweet room with a mini fridge, microwave, large flatscreen tv and a king size bed and a jacuzzi. If only we had known earlier, we would have arrived to enjoy these amenities. Great water pressure, working AC, and extra toiletries, including a makeup remover pad, the one thing I forgot to buy at Meijer. Thumbs up. read more

Came to visit family and needed one night. We usually stay at other hotels but chose Comfort inn this time, as others were booked. The room rate was less than what we usually pay at the other hotels. I've stayed at a few Comfort Inns in the past, and this one produced a different experience than what was ideal. We stayed here for a wedding. The room had a strange layout where the bathtub was the divider between the bathroom and the bedroom. It just seemed odd as we had other guests coming to hangout with us in the room. When we came back to the room to wait to go to the reception, we realized that we were going to need to take their shuttle over to the reception. Since this hotel isn't in a large attraction district, we didn't really know what to expect quality wise. Getting over to the reception wasn't too bad, it appeared that they only had one shuttle to drive guests. Leaving the reception was where the real challenge was. We were told a specific time that the rides would stop, and it did not return to get us at that time unfortunately (it was midnight or so and we were told that it would end at 1am). We waited and waited and ended up getting an Uber instead because the hall was closing soon. read more

Here's what I figure are the most important things a person should look for in a hotel: - Cleanliness - Helpful Staff - Comfort (tee hee) - Some kind of breakfast option - wifi Did this place have all those things? I'm being sarcastic, I think, but this might actually be a deal breaker for some people. I don't claim to be a mind reader. Dan and I, along with about a million other people scattered about in several different rooms, were staying here to attend a wedding a few miles away, and the staff was absolutely nothing but accommodating. Need nail polish remover? Sure! Oh, you need some bleach to get rid of that spot on your shirt? No problem! A friend of ours needed to upgrade his room to two twin beds from one queen when it turned out someone else was going to be staying with him, and the staff didn't even bat an eyelash. They were, in a word, awesome. They were, in two words, really awesome. The room itself was spacious and clean. I don't just mean there were no fun mystery spots on the upholstery and sheets, but that the room actually seemed like someone kept it up daily. They even arranged our pillows by levels of softness. That's something your mom does for you when you're sick! Or, at least, my mom did. She also kept me flowing in a steady stream of gatorade and noodle soup, which this hotel did not do, but I can't really fault them for that... And it didn't matter anyway, because I wasn't sick. Anyway, they provided an array of free breakfast foods ranging from pouches of oatmeal and dried cereal to eggs and sausage, which was more than we could ask for. Free food is awesome. Also, and this is a bit off topic, they decorated their lobby for halloween. Not to mention the fact that their lobby was also pretty and didn't have a thong vending machine standing up against the wall. Don't get me wrong; I enjoy a good thong vending machine as much as the next person, but I do believe it says a little bit about the establishment you're staying at. I'm also not just pulling this out of thin air... I've seen this elsewhere in Michigan. I've been to two Comfort Inns now, and both were very pleasant experiences. Keep up the good work! read more

Booked their last room available on the internet (and it was non-smoking, thank goodness) but it was a handicapped room and only one double bed. I did know this when I booked it and hoped to get a king, but there were no late cancellations. Otherwise, the room was fine and up to Comfort Inn standards. I remember that I particularly liked the way that the room was arranged because it made the room seem more spacious, but this also may have been because it was handicapped accessible. A king bed could have easily fit in the room but I don't know if a wheelchair would fit with it. The hotel was very clean, but the door did not shut very well. Had to slam it to get it to stay latched. I was worried about valuables with the door situation so I made sure to take the electronics with me and lock them in the trunk. There is not much of a lobby and the breakfast room is quite unusual for a hotel this size. It is located on 2nd floor and there is only one small table with two chairs in the actual breakfast room. However, they have a suite room across the hall with several four-person tables, chairs and TV, but does not seem to be nearly enough for size of the hotel. Big advantage to this hotel is location and pricing. They have a ton of great shopping here, so this area may be out of the way if you are going to any west Detroit suburbs, but Auburn Hills and Great Lakes Crossing are just 20 minutes away and downtown Detroit is easily accessible from here. Moreover, the highways are modern and fast, but what do you expect from the Motor City! read more

Place is nice, and clean. Sits back off the road and there are no resturants within walking distance. They do offer a wide array of menus and dining options, but all need transportation to get to them. The beds are VERY comfortable, and the TV is a 42" LCD, nice big picture, easy to see from all angles in the hotel room. I stayed in a suite and the hot tub is angled perfectly to watch TV while you soak. I also like the drain in the hot tub. So often you will check in only to find out that the drain is broke or does not work properly. This drain flips(or turns) to seal it, works perfect. Breakfast was great. Not sure they they were real eggs, but I generally get the rasin bran, bagel and water. They have multiple pastries, and juices. Staff was VERY friendly. My 2nd stay here. I will be back read more

I wanted to get away for a day. I pacifically called to find out if there was a hot tub in the room. Talked to Elvis and booked a room. Showed up that night at 7pm had dinner and came back to a TV that didn't work after calling the desk several times I got nowhere.While waiting for the TV it was discovered my hot tub would not drain. I called the office to find out with estimated time was and was told there was a shift change and that person knew nothing about it. By midnight and 7 calls to the desk I was upset. By then I went to bed the next morning i talked to Dominic and he called Rosy over the phone. Rosy said she would call me on Monday. That never happened. I called and everytime Dominic was rude and said sorry I dont have Rosy scheduled. I then made a formal complaint and a week later Rosy called me but claims she never received any messages to call me however the very first conversation I had with her she said she would call me Monday. Rosy proceeded to tell me that her boss Deborah Jaffary would call me. Again a week later no one calls me. Hallways reeked of weed and their customer service is horrendous. read more

My spouse and I stayed here recently when we lost power. The staff were so friendly and knowledgeable. The room was very clean and comfortable. Big television with cable and free HBO. The complementary breakfast included items such as eggs, sausage, waffles, bread, donuts, yogurt, fresh fruit and cereals. You can even bring your dogs if they're under 35lbs. Dog friendly places rock! We will definitely seek out a Comfort Inn from now on when we need a place to stay. Thanks so much!! read more

Eek! Methinks not is a PERFECT way to describe this disgusting hotel. My brother was getting married and this is the hotel that they picked for everyone to stay at. I booked my room as soon as the invitation came out (over a month in advance) and when I checked in I was given the wrong room (2 queens instead of a king). I asked to switch, but the hotel was booked. I understand that having 2 queens and not 1 king is first world problems, but still the guy at the front desk could have maybe tried a little harder to make his customer happy. Now for the good stuff. If you enjoy the smell of four day old cat piss mixed with a gym locker room, this is the place for you! The aroma hits you right in the face as soon as you turn the corner past the front desk. Walk a few steps into the hallway and that joyous odor is then combined with a puff of weed. YUM! Should you want an amazing room experience, look no further than the Comfort Inn, Utica. We were "sold" on an in-room jacuzzi. What they failed to mention was that this "jacuzzi"was also your shower. The last place I want to relax in, is a bathtub slash jacuzzi. If I wanted to bath in dirty feet, I would join the YMCA. Usually have no problems until this last time. I stayed with my 4 year old granddaughter and they put us on the first floor which would be fine, but they were doing construction on the second floor in the room above us! Legit felt like I was at a construction sight as they literally drilled and banged all day. The problem was when I put the baby to sleep for her very much needed daily nap and the noise was crazy as the room shook. I went to the front and the lady pretty much smiled in my face and said "do you want to leave?" Then she said they will be gone at 5pm. They should have told us at least when we got the room that they were remodeling and to expect some noise. My granddaughter needs the tv off and conplete silence to sleep so you can imagine how tgat went. I was really angry when I went up to the 3rd floor that was completely remodeled and had guests staying in the new rooms! They should be sensitive to the fact that in a hotel people don't only sleep at night and plan accordingly and maybe do one side at a time so it would not interfere with the guests staying there! read more

I stayed here when I was in town for a residency interview. The staff was friendly and it was a relatively nice hotel. It was reasonably priced which is why I stayed here. The rooms were clean and checkin and checkout went smoothly. They have customer appreciation days where they serve some type of food in the lounge. They have a computer with an area to print if needed. They also have a workout room with older equipment (a non working treadmill when I was there) and no free weights which was a bummer. They get four starts partly because of the gym status but also because I didn't feel completely safe staying in this area, parking was harder to find within the lot because it is a smaller lot with lots of cars, and because there was always people that you could tell weren't customers hanging out in the lounge and having somewhat inappropriate conversations. I would stay here again because the price is right and it is clean, but I wouldn't give it five star for the above reasons. read more

My wife called the Comfort Inn in Utica and asked for a room for that day, under extremely extenuating circumstances. They had a room available for immediate check in. They suggested she book online. She thought she was on the Comfort Inn website but accidentally booked thru a third party for two nights. She asked to cancel the second night and was told by a Comfort Inn night manager that if the third party booking site called them, that they would approve a refund for the second night , as an exception due to the circumstances. When the third party called within 10 minutes (and two more times on my behalf), the person answering at the Comfort Inn would not approve the request. Talking with the hotel manager was useless as well. They legally may be right, but handled poorly. read more

They belong to ChoiceHotel.com and have an online app that is misleading.On 5-16-2016 I have gone to Choice Hotel to ask for a refund; as well as, I have gone to the Franchise GM D***** J****** and both of them will not give me a refund. Via my smart phone, on 5-14-16 I booked a room based off of "Today's Advanced Purchase Rate" it was a red button. Thinking I needed a room "Today", I processed my credit card information. Minutes later, I received an alert of my reservation. I noticed it was the wrong date and called immediately that day. The app must have processed the date two weeks one day to May 29th. I did not put this day in, it must have been a default date. *By them setting a default date in itself is wrong and misleading.It should be open ended for me to decide the day to make the reservation. Moreover, the fact that I am asking for a refund minutes afterwards, gone thru headquarters, and the fact that the Franchise Owner calls the shots,and still saying no refund, I look at them stealing my $75.38.( Other hotels must have better Standard Operating Procedures.) They stand that when I booked the room, it stated non refundable. What pop up was offered, and who reads small-print these days? Especially, on a phone app. Even if there was a pop stating no refund, the date of the reservation should be displayed along with that pop up. Bottom line, this does not make good business sense, because I could have been a customers for a long time. Comfort Inn is a RISK, DONT BOOK WITH THEM. I already informed my credit card to not process this payment, but it has to show up for them to decline. May 29th 2016 this is supposed to happen. I will not be in Utica Michigan. Mistakes happen, why cant they make a good business decision. I wanted the room for that DAY. not whenever they say. Stayed recently and was very happy with all the employees and our room! The girl in the breakfast room this weekend was so sweet and helpful. I also left my ipad accidentally on the bench! I was so frantic to find it! To my surprise, Brad had it in the back office! Some very honest person found it and turned it in! I just can't tell you what that meant to me! We reserved two nights on 9/12 and 9/13/2013. First off, because it was a no smoking hotel, they allowed everyone to stand around in front of the door, making noise and stinking up the premises all night long. Our room was right above the smokers so the constant smell and noise was awful. Then, our door did not fit properly and there was about a two inch gap around the door where anyone could see in. It was also not noise proofed and every time someone slammed a door our walls shook. The people across from us had a party and at 3 am took the party into the hallway. I called down to the desk and complained. They sent us two "complimentary" gift certificates and the expiration date is 2018. We tried to use them recently and they now say they will not accept them, that they are fraudulent. The hotel is a joke, it's dirty, and bad management. read more

I have no plans on staying here again. The TV wasn't working so they moved me to another room and that TV didn't work either. When I talked to the manager he said there was nothing he could do . He offered me $40 off my next stay in the form of two $20 gift cards. When I went to use the gift cards I was told I could only use one at a time on a non discounted room.
