My mom lives in the Northwest Suburbs and we finally decided that she could no longer "do it…read morealone". We had gone through a lot with my dad before he passed away and so we knew what we wanted and what we didn't. Unfortunately, the informal network we used for my dad didn't have women caregivers so we were back to to square one. After doing a lot of research with the local senior center and online we called For Papa's Sake, which is based out of the town next to where my mom lives. From the very first phone call I suspected we had gotten lucky. After a couple of calls and some group discussion between me, my mom and a For Papa's Sake senior person we decided we'd try them out. And am I glad we did. They listened to my mom's and my requests, likes, dislikes, deal-breakers etc. and they never batted an eye. They did say it might take a bit longer than usual (given our needs) to find the right care giver, but they called back in less than 5 days and we had a care giver within 10 days to 2 weeks of that 1st main discussion. That care giver has worked out so well. It has really improved our lives and I can go days without worrying about my mom...what a relief. That's what For Papa's Sake provides: relief! If you are looking for an alternative to a nursing home or aged care facility or whatever you want to call it, For Papa's Sake really cares and I would encourage you to give them a call. They have worked out great for us and I would not recommend them for something so important if they weren't doing a great job.

My family used Right at Home in 2022. It has taken me until now to write a review because I just did not want to think about how bad their service was. We are in a much better place now, and I feel compelled to warn others. Right at Home was truly awful- no communication. I'm not sure how they even had clients. We had to call them to find out who was coming for my mom. I can't recall EVER receiving a phone call informing me, I always had to call them. Schedules that should have been known and planned for became unnecessary emergencies because of their poor communication. My mom very much liked one of their caregivers - she was wonderful - so we were tied to the agency. That it the only reason we stuck with them as long as we did. The caregiver was pregnant, and we had to tell them! They claimed they were unaware. Right at Home had zero communication with us regarding her replacement until WE asked them if they had a plan. Their staff made us feel like they were only concerned about the money. I truly felt like they would just throw whoever they could on the schedule and they did not have as many caregivers as they said they did when we signed up with them. Two of their caregivers abandoned my mom. I never heard an apology. When I contacted their owner, Matt, regarding an issue, I got no follow thru other than an email thanking me for my communication and a promise to be in touch. Never heard from the guy again. They simply placed whoever they could find with my mom, taking no consideration as to how she would react to the person. Just horrible service. If you are a caregiver - don't sign up with them. They will treat you like crap and lie to you. I absolutely DO NOT recommend Right at Home. We've since used a different agency - and I can confidently say that Right at Home does not deserve to be in business. Don't trust your loved one in their care.

She's had the same nurse for over four years now and we absolutely adore her. Recently my 90 year old grandmother took a tumble and was rushed to the ER. The doctor there needed to get a hold of her primary physician but his office was closed on Sundays. I ended up calling Wellcare and within 10 minutes the nurse had called me back and gave the ER doctor all the information they needed. The nurse and the physical therapists were at my grandmother's the very next morning. Exceptional service all around.

I contacted Home Instead when my mom needed assistance at home. At first it was just a couple of…read moremornings a week, but we recently had to transition to live-in help. My experience with Home Instead has been awesome. They have been completely responsive to our needs and able to accommodate the schedule change very quickly. Each of the caregivers that was with my mom was exceptional. They were kind, patient and provided good company and assistance. Sadly, we are moving her to live closer to me, but I will be forever grateful to Home Instead for allowing her to live in her home a little longer. Everything started off fairly well. A nurse(?) from Lifecare came to our house and showed us how to…read moreadminister IV antibiotics (3 times/day). Then for the next 5 weeks a different nurse came out first twice a week and then once a week to change the dressing and just check up on things. All went well until the course of antibiotics was finished. The nurse was supposed to come and remove the PICC line on Wednesday (February 22nd). First there was a miscommunication between Lifecare and the doctor. The doctor's office claimed Lifecare was supposed to contact them to get the order to remove the PICC line; Lifecare claimed that the doctor was supposed to contact them. In whatever case, the doctor's office contacted Lifecare on Wednesday afternoon to authorize the removal of the PICC line. But now, Lifecare is unable to find a nurse to remove the PICC line and they have stopped communicating with me at all. I have no idea if or when I can get the PICC line removed and in the meantime I am breaking out from the tape keeping the PICC line in place.

It was even tougher when I was out of town. I've always felt sorry to my uncle since I couldn't be there for him, when he needed me the most. While trying to find alternative ways to take care of my uncle, I found this home healthcare service called, 'Primus.' I was skeptical at first since it's not me who's taking care of it, it's a 'service.' I've met John, manager of Primus, and Diane, the care giver, to discuss how my uncle will be taken care of... It looked simple on paper, but the 'real' services that they provide, it was better than expected. I couldn't tell the difference at first but a week or two later, I saw it. My uncle's got healthier and happier. What I wanted for my uncle, Diane and Primus team took care of it. I'm looking forward to how well my uncle will be. I'll write more later...
