This review is for the interactions via the phone and in person with several of the staff members, based on three to four interactions. Specifics will not be made due to HIPPA privacy which I take very seriously and expect others to do the same. I found one staff member to be very personable by phone, but slightly demoralizing in tone (possibly meant well, I do tend to believe the best about people). I can't explain the exact way it was said, but there was so much focus put on externals, or not asking what the client needed, but telling me what they planned on giving potential clients. Another staff member was pleasant to deal with by phone but lacking in personal service details, offering unsolicited advice unrelated to the potential job at hand. However helpful, it was rude and actually insulting, resulting in further impressing potential client to not go with this company. Something was also said in one of the client's absence to another family member that was demoralizing, which they didn't want to share until later because it would have possibly affected client's morale and treatment. Summation: the level of customer service that is being offered at this particular locale is not up to par for this line of work, in reviewer's opinion and experience. I wouldn't say anything in a review that I would not say, and probably didn't already say, to someone's face. Realizing people have an "off" day or that miscommunications can arise, the burden is on the provider of care to interact with the clients and family in a way that brings well-being to a client, and a sense of pride and accomplishment to the staff. Been on both sides of that fence so I know of what I speak and try to treat others kindly whether or not they are in a position to do something for me. Too bad they can't get a zero star review. The people that come to the home to provide care are great, that's not the issue. The issue is the office that takes care of scheduling and billing. There are consistent problems with billing amounts and frequency. When I asked for a detailed document outlining the the dates and amounts of the bills, I got an email with one sentence of incorrect response. No document, no dates, no amounts. I know this because I did a detailed inspection of the bills to my credit card, and found that they double billed me services more than once, and wrong amounts multiple times. I have terminated their services, and will be notifying the Florida Board of Nursing, as well as Comfort Keepers Corporate of this situation. In my opinion, you should look elsewhere for an in-home care giver. read more

My wife was discharged from a Rehab Facility on a Tuesday. The first caregiver assigned to us was a disaster. ComfortKeepers just sent her on her own without and introduction or even a call to give us her name. She came at 8:00 pm dressed like she was going to a party, not caregiving, and after I showed her around the house and the bedroom where my wife would be sleeping and took her back to our dining area where my wife was seated, immediately plugged her phone into an outlet to charge and asked for our WIFI password, which we did not give. After a brief conversation with my wife, without asking permission put her feet up on the arm of one of our kitchen chairs and made herself comfortable. She demanded from me a Comfort Keepers login sheet, and after I looked through my papers and determined that the materials given to me by Comfort Keepers did not include one, she admitted that she had some papers in her car. I told her to go and get them, and when she came back she had a file with information about my wife's care, log in sheets and a notebook for her to keep a journal about what she was doing for care. During the course of the evening she revealed some things about her personal life, including things that made my wife and I wonder how she could ever have passed a background check. She said she had three evictions, was separated from her husband who had a drug problem and was sleeping in a rental with 5 other women and 3 of her children. She also spent an hour and a half on the phone with three potential landlords trying to negotiate for a place where she could stay. During those calls which were made in my wife's presence she said many things that corroborated what she had told my wife. Later in the evening before my wife went to bed I asked her to wipe down our kitchen island and sweep the kitchen floor. She took this as a threat and warned me (rudely) that she isn't supposed to do housework. I confirmed that this was only light housework within the agreed scope of her duties. At about 10:30 she helped my wife get to bed and sat in a comfortable chair in the bedroom. My wife tells me she slept in the chair the whole night, except for 3 times when she helped her go to the bathroom. Comfort keepers provided staffing for my mother when she was bed-ridden in hospice care. The first provider who came was excellent. She was compassionate, professional, and courteous with both me and my mother. I felt blessed. Then Comfort Keepers rescheduled her. They act as if their staff is interchangeable like a tool. The unnecessary changes created lots of headaches, since each new person had to be introduced to my mother, her special needs, and her guard dog. In my mother's final days, I wanted peace and comfort for me and my mother. When one is physically drained and emotionally tapped, fighting for continuity of care UNNECESSARILY seems like torture. Someone get the message across to management that Comfort Keepers is in a Personal Service Industry, not the hardware industry. read more
