This is a great place to stay with your dog. They have a greeting doggie treat bag and fresh popcorn and cookies for people guests. The comfort area is behind the hotel and equipped with bags. Beds are clean with a slight scent of bleach, the whole room was clean as was the hot shower. Lots of TV channels, breakfast included sausage, scrambled eggs, and hash browns that were just ok, and cereal, toast, waffles, etc. Health rating was 98. We had a very nice stay here! read more

Stay was ok until it was time for me to add more days , they charged me for my service dogs then called me a lier saying they are not service dogs even after stating the NC laws about it, then amazingly said they would refund the dog fee but tell me there charging me for more stays, guy at front desk is rude insulting my intelligence insinuating I'm a liar,but can't expect much results from a bald middle-aged man, I will NEVER stay at these hotels again. read more

Good portions: Great Beds, nice linens, clean for the most part Bad portions: staff was extremely rude, I requested 2 items and was told "I'm only one person" accompanied with an eye roll. Came to the desk and stood and waited at another point and no one came to see what I needed. Highly irritating! We booked 2 rooms and one smelled like mold so bad when You walked in the door. Our initial hotel reservation fell through and we were stuck late at night with no place to stay. Comfort Suites came through for us. When we arrived the front desk clerk was extremely helpful, and she even gave us a discount after hearing what had happened to us with the original hotel. We went up to our room to find a nice room with microwave, mini fridge, and sink in the main part of the room. We also had two beds, a desk, and a couch with a coffee table. Within minutes of arriving to our room, the front desk clerk called up to the room to be sure our room met with our standards and to see if we needed anything. Later in the night, I went down to the vending machines in search of a bottle of water. When I saw it was sold out I went to the front desk to ask if any other machines had bottled water, which they didn't. When I went to head back to my room, the clerk stopped me, went into one of the back rooms and came back with several mini bottles of water for me. The staff and service really wow'd me and I would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. The hotel appearance was overall clean and well kept. My only complaint was that it needed a bit of remodeling in places. If a little cosmetic appearance doesn't bother you though, i'd be confident in recommending this hotel. read more

Check in quick and efficient. Room was huge with beautiful king sized bed with fluffy pillows and brand new bedding. Room also had out couch in seating area with large screen TV, microwave, refrigerator. Bathroom was also spacious and comfortable with nice towels and toiletries. Also they had a little sundries shop by register which came in very handy as I had forgotten my hairspray, so I was able to purchase a travel sized one for $1.50. Breakfast was great, waffle maker, coffee, yogurt, etc. I would certainly return to this hotel again when I am back in the area for business travel. read more

Have stayed here many times, and always have a good stay. The service from the staff is exceptional. The rooms are clean, the free breakfast is excellent. A nice property. They are dog friendly ($25 fee) and have a grassy space out back for them to do their business. The elevator is in poor repair and takes forever and even stopped functioning for a time. The breakfast is not impressive, at all, but it's free. One of our room keys didn't work which was quickly remedied. Rooms were newly updated and well-appointed with fridge, microwave, and small wet bar. One of the better deals we found for a beach area in the high season at $180/night on a weekend in mid-August. If they stepped up their breakfast game and fixed the elevator I would give 5 stars. I'm not one to write reviews, but our stay here exceeded our expectations! Walked in and was greeted cheerfully by Forrest. We were early and he apologized for the room not being ready ( we didn't expect it to be anyway). We went down to the water front in Southport ( 15 minute drive tops). Came back to check in and Scott was helpful and knowledgeable. We had a 2 queen room with pull out sofa which was sufficient for our family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 children ages 7, and 11). Room was clean with no musty odor at all. Some dust in corners but not enough to bother us. Beds were comfortable. Slightly older but seems to hold itself together well. TV worked, fridge was cold. Had the basic necessities. We were told that due to COVID there was no housekeeping during our stay but if we needed anything towels etc they were readily available. Our toilet did clog up but maintenance arrived and professionally fixed it with no issues. The breakfast is back to being open and we are so glad!! Served from 6-9a, it was hot and plentiful. The pool served its purpose and was clean. On the smaller side, but your only 15 minutes to Oak Island Beaches. Did not use fitness center, but the lobby did have fresh popcorn at times which the kids enjoyed. We will most definitely recommend this Comfort Suite to others and will use again in the future! read more

Overall this is a decent looking hotel. Rooms are good size third floor looks like they have newer bathrooms. The issue came in when I was getting into bed and found ticks under the pillows. Probably a fluke incident but after switching rooms I couldn't get the ticks out of my head and kept waking up to check. We really enjoyed our stay at Comfort Suites. We didn't know what to expect being a pet friendly hotel, however it was great as we traveled with our 3 month old Schnoodle. Everything was neat and clean from the lobby to our room. Breakfast was good and everyone that worked there was very nice and friendly. The only thing I wish was better was the "doggie yard". It really could use a little freshening up. As we were checking out I asked if we could request the same room next time we visit and was told, "absolutely". So overall, wonderful stay! read more

We enjoyed our one night stay at Comfort Suites. The beds were comfortable, it was nice to have an extra bed with the pull out queen-sized bed in couch, it was relatively quiet at night, the staff was kind, and the breakfast was good tasting (not stellar) and had variety. The age of the hotel, the strange mixed smell of deodorizer and bacon in our room, and the price ( should be about $15-$20 cheaper) keep it from getting 5 stars from me. read more

I stayed for one night this past weekend. They put me in a handicap room because the hotel was full. The room was fine, except it smelled musty. Yes, it had a king size bed, but the mattress was uncomfortable. During the night I could hear every footstep the people in the room above me made. I also heard every creak their bed made. The exercise room was very outdated and the equipment did not work well. The treadmill never even got fast enough for me to actually run and it kept almost stopping before speeding back up again. Breakfast in the morning consisted of cereal, yogurt, fruit, waffles, and pastries. Not a bad selection overall. It was probably the best part of my stay. read more

Ever wonder what hell on earth was like? Well step right up and book a room at this trash den. Filthy dirty blood on sheets, piss and pubic hair all over bathroom and toilet. Stagnant germ infested carpet. Did I mention that they shove you in a pet friendly room even when you state you have allergies? I already wrote the board of health about this place and sent pictures before I scrubbed the bathroom on my hands and knees. Woke up this morning to see blood stains trickled all over the rancid sheets. I'll be sleeping in the car tonight and can't wait to board my flight back home and never EVER come here again. I live in hotels over 85% of the year and most of them are choice hotel. House keeping is great and also the front desk person. The only qualm I have about this particular Comfort Suite in Southport, NC is most of my meals, I have to cook them because I am a diabetic and I can't or should I say don't love eating out. This is the only one that have told me I can't cook in my room. I don't fry food so I don't have a fryer and I don't cook on a hot plate. But I do have a device I use, it's a Precision cooktop. Now the reason I was told is first that is in the letter l was given, no fryer or hot plates. I have neither. The other was the smell gets into the carpet and curtains. Please give me a break they have guest that have dogs. And that is why I give this Comfort Suite a 2 star. read more

I would give this motel a negative rating if I could. Do NOT give them your card #!!! They charged my card $1,000 between 3 different charges on three different days and I had to call them to get the money back into my account. The last charge was $248.91 then instead of refunding it they charged it again!!! I was looking at my account and saw the two charges two days apart and they completely didn't get what they had done or at the very least completely denied that they had charged it twice and tried to tell me that's how my bank does refunds. They are idiots!!! Now I have to dispute the charge through my bank because they denied the charge exists. Then why is my bank helping me with disputing the charge if it doesn't exist!!! read more

A very pleasant stay! We went to check in after a long day of driving and went through an incredibly efficient check-in.. We did come across an issue when we got to the room. The room was booked for us by my partner's company. We were under the impression we would have a double room so my 16 year old had his own bed but found one king bed. After discussing this with the front desk we were informed that they were full to capacity but that a cot was added to the room for him. We explained that we would be heading out for dinner and found the cot waiting in the room when we returned. It really wasn't the most comfortable night's sleep for him so we laid the mattress of the cot on the floor for him the second night. Our first night I walked down to the front desk to ask for a couple more pillows and was greeted by an extremely friendly staff member. When I asked about a local shop she could not give me information since she only works in the area but lives in another town. But she made sure I had a paper if I wanted to look it up and suggested I talk to the morning staff if I still had questions. The breakfast had a wonderful assortment and was very tasty. I loved making fresh waffles for the family! One note however, fried eggs on a buffet is never a good idea. See rubber! The rooms are huge and very clean. I was also extremely impressed by the housekeeping staff who made sure we felt secure in the hotel. I had left my nice purse on the bed and took my bum around purse that I enjoy using at fests. I didn't even think about leaving this out since I had my wallet and all other important items on me. But the housekeeping staff was sure to leave a note stating that they were not comfortable moving my purse from the bed in order to make it and offered to have the bed later made if we wanted. After the cleaning job they did in the rest of the room we were more than satisfied and I felt good knowing they took our comfort into account. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. And the late night popcorn was perfect!!! read more

We really enjoyed our stay here. The breakfast made the stay, you get a full hot breakfast with tons of yummy choices, not just some old bagels and coffee like most hotels. My husband enjoyed the pancakes! It is pet friendly, including having a doggy poo bag holder outside, which was handy. The pool was clean and warm. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. They have lots of pillows, including soft and firm ones. The value can't be beat, especially when you add in the free breakfast which can add up for a family of 5. read more

We choose this hotel based solely on the fact that they are pet friendly and do not have a weight restriction for dogs. My husband and I checked in on 6/25/16 staying for one night only to find our stay extreamly disappointing. When we checked in we were pretty tired from our drive and before we checked in at 2:06 pm we spent some time on the beach and explored the area. When we got into our room there was a dog in the next room that continued to yelp and cry. Because I do not usually complain we just dealt with it and waited for the dog to stop then we both drifted off to sleep. Only to woken up later by a party going on in the next room. Loud music, load talking and laughing. I reached beside the bed to call front desk but the phone was not located beside the bed it was across the room on a desk. Making it where I had to get up to call front desk. I got up and made it to the phone and called. they were real nice about it and went and talk to the room the music soon stopped but the laughing and loud talking went on about another 45 min. I was well awake by the time things calmed down and could not go back to sleep till around 3:30 the next morning. This truly bothered me when I woke up the next morning so I talked to the lady at the front desk who was very nice and told me the manager Melissa Fineman was not there but would be there the next day. She said she was leaving her a message and she should call me the next day. She did not call. So I called two days later only to hear she was not there I left another message never to get a returned call. Called a few days later, was told to hold on while they got her, they came back to the phone asked who I was and said she was not there hummmm but they left another message for her to call me back. That same day I decided to e-mail her only to get no response.Then I went to the website and was left on the receipt called the number on the site, left a message to not get a response from them either. I rated my stay a 3 because the room was clean, the people working the day of our stay was nice and breakfast was good. I would have liked them to have offered me a room on a floor that dogs are not allowed and for them to have confronted my concerns. We will not be staying at this location again!!! read more
