If you want cute, clean rooms, this is your place. Rooms were darling! This is the cutest little motor inn. John, Buffy and the staff make this place feel like home!! We told them we were getting there early and they said just call when you get close and they would try to accommodate. Plans changed and we arrived real early. We were going to drop the car and spend time at the beach but the room was ready for us already!!! Buffy made check in so easy! We had and easy 5 minutes walk through a neighborhood and we were at the beach!! We will stay here every time we come to Oak Island!

Nicely renovated and remodeled old style motor court. The rooms are all nonsmoking. I spent a pleasant three day weekend here.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAY AT THIS BLACK MOLD INFESTED HOTEL. This hotel is the very definition of…read moreputting lipstick on a pig. Back in September of 2024 room 321 was infested with mold so badly it needed to have been attended to by professionals. The owner of this IHG hotel claimed it on his insurance and then had their maintenance staff go in with mops and a product called Gel Pro and get the mold off the walls, then just paint over the surfaces. People have no idea they are breathing in Black mold spores floating throughout this hotel. Sure everything looks clean on the surfaces but that's only because they cover up the mold as it presents in each room with painting. They also have two illegal immigrants LIVING and working in the hotel being paid under the table while the other housekeepers are getting paid next to nothing. Housekeepers are expected to wear uniforms but the 2 illegals that live in the hotel, do not and the rules don't apply to them. When the housekeepers wanted a raise the "second in command" Cindy King told the supervisor at the time that the housekeepers will only appreciate the raise on their first paycheck after. The management is awful to the staff and if you don't conform to their every whim they will dismiss you without a legal reason. Back in September 2 housekeepers filed discrimination complaints that the owner of the hotel, 2nd in command Cindy King and 3rd in command John were all aware of, they fired them due to it. Also a supervisor was let go after disclosing a disability only 3 days later via text message. (there is noted documentation) Do not support this hotel and do not put yourself at a health risk staying here for any amount of time. The picture added below is from Room 321. Other rooms that have had issues include 412,414, 416, 323, 209, 409,309, 107 and the list goes on. They will also have a list of excuses degrading those that have spoken out about the mistreatment of staff and the black mold issues at this hotel so just be prepared.

And what makes this so crazy is the fact that this location was renovated about 5 years ago! I want to start with the good and talk about the people here. They do have great employees that are always kind and emphatic to you, but must not have any control over the condition of the hotel. They do have a market like most Marriott properties where you can buy frozen food, drinks, and snacks, and have a continental breakfast every morning with eggs, some sort of meat, yogurt, waffles, bagels, cereal, and usually either hash brown patties or biscuits. Each room comes with the basics. A TV, bathroom, closet, window, etc.. There are no balconies in any of the rooms. Last time I was here, the shower drain was stopped up and ended up flooding my bathroom a bit. This time, NONE of the room keys could open ANY of the room doors, meaning that no one could get into their room. The ONLY thing that they had was a little key fob that they used to get people in their rooms. Meaning that the employee working at the front desk had to go with the resident to their room to open their room for them. That is ridiculous. And there have been issues before that, but these are the two recent ones. I would not recommend staying at this property.

I love this place! Review is accordingly as you should know what to expect from a roadside motel…read morethat's been kick in' since probably the 1950's. We absolutely loved it. The beds are only mildly comfy and the bathrooms are small and dated but everything is clean and they have have a mini fridge and microwave in every room. Our room came with an ashtray which I didn't even know was a thing anymore, but we lit a little candle from the handy dollar general just up yonder and all was well again Outside, there are picnic tables and grills, you can bring your own foodstuffs! I loved the pool most of all, really clean and spacious and they provide floating rafts and pool games and almost no one is even there. In the height of July, we were one of two families. I think I literally spent 2 days in the pool alone, I read 2 books cover to cover. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. As a bonus, Cape Fear Boil company is literally across the street so you can grab a huge boil pot and enjoy it out on the picnic tables. We are definitely coming here again!

We booked 2 rooms for 2 days. There was a very strong odor of dog urine in the office. The owner/…read morereceptionist had 3 dogs running around in there. The rooms were reasonably clean. However there were used false eyelashes and a couple of press on nails left on top of the microwave. The first day went well. The second day we went to the pool. There was an electrical outlet on the wall that my daughter plugged her phone charger into. There were no signs stating not to use outlet. The owner/ receptionist came out and started screaming at my daughter for using it. My daughter repeatedly apologized but the woman continued screaming, cursing and verbally abusing my daughter in front of my grandchildren and other motel guests called her stupid, an idiot, a moron ect. Continued screaming as my daughter was walking away. The woman was wanting a fight and we would not argue with her. She was screaming "I'll have you kicked out of here" I gathered up my grandchildren and our belongings, went back to the room and started to pack up our stuff to leave. We were embarrassed and confused as to the owners behavior and no longer felt comfortable or safe staying there. While packing up I lifted the bed covers and discovered a bed bug ( took pictures)upon further inspection I found more , which would explain the bites on my legs when I woke up. We were there for my grandsons birthday. Needless to say the owners hysterical, unprofessional volatile meltdown put a damper on the celebration. We have been going there for 10 years and never experienced this type of behavior from the staff. I believe she may have a problem with people of color since we brought a friend with us who is non-white and haven't experienced this behavior previously
