This hotel needs to be thoroughly revamped, updated and cleaned. I took a handful of photos but could have done many more to describe it. I wore my flip flops in the room at all time due to how nasty the carpet was. Stayed here 3 nights due to family wedding and may never stay in a Choice Hotel again. The entire front staff needs to be fired for lack of professionalism and work ethics. Every time you came downstairs they were outside smoking in the rotunda while multiple people waited for assistance. Only bright spot was older lady who ran the breakfast on the weekend was super helpful & sweet. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would have given them 0 stars if possible. We got there about 9:20 pm after an 8 hour drive. The front desk guy was on the phone and said please hold on. So we waited he then puts the call on hold and tells us the computer just crashed and he's working on it. We waited about 5 more minutes and asked for a room and said we'd come back and do whatever he needed once it was fixed. He said he couldn't give us a room even though I paid online. So we were stuck waiting. He said his boss would be here in 10 minutes to fix it. Lovely we've been sitting here 20 minutes already and our time zone it's an hour later. After about 5 more minutes he gets a phone call and then says ok I can let you have a room the old school way. He got out a piece of paper, I signed it and he gave us the keys. Are you kidding me?!? We asked to do this earlier. I assumed he needed the computer to give us keys. Now to our room. It was propped open when we got to it. My husband went in and checked it to make sure it was ok. I did not want to go down and ask for another one because who knows how long it would take. These rooms need new carpet and furniture. I wouldn't sit on the couch if you paid me. The only plus side is the beds were clean and comfortable. In the morning I went down to check out to make sure everything was good since the computer was down last night. The desk is empty. There's 3 people at breakfast and to my surprise it's the front desk guy. There's another visitor he grabbed some Red Bulls and was trying to pay. The front desk guy looks at us and waves us on. I left, I don't care if they needed to swipe my card because this guy obviously didn't care to do his job. This place is the perfect distance between home and our daughter's house but I will never stay here again. read more

The staff was very nice and sweet, and the room was spacious and affordable. However, the AC/heating unit didn't seem to work properly -- I was able to make it work, but it definitely didn't add to my experience. I was also disappointed with the amenities, especially since I booked this place specifically for the gym and every cardio machine was broken (3 total). Breakfast was decent and had a variety of options. The hotel is a bit old, so it doesn't look super clean; but overall cleanliness wasn't a major issue. read more

Great pet friendly hotel option if you need to crash in Topeka. Check in process was quick and painless. The suites are super nice for the price you pay compared to other places I've stayed. we got here at midnight last night and their systems were down, and they still found a way to get us a room! They went above and beyond! Montana and Edna ( day staff ) and the night staff were so helpful!Our rooms looked great and the beds were SO comfortable! and the breakfast was REALLY good! I definitely recommend!! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE IS YOU VALUE YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS. This hotel started by messing up my hotel reservation and giving me a key to an already occupied room. They informed me that they "fixed" the issues and gave me a room that I booked for the entire weekend. They next day, they had one of THEIR EMPLOYEES" pack up all of my belongs and place them in a trash bag (days before I was set to check out). I'm assuming they never updated the "fixed reservation". I arrived after work to find that my room key didn't work and was handed this trash bag full of my items ( including personal hygiene items their housekeeper handled, drinks, and food that I was planning on eating for dinner). I was left to go through it and found that my IPAD and fast charger were gone. They had been stolen when my stuff was packed up by the staff. The hotel then informed me that they are not responsible for my stolen items even though it was their employees that packed up my things (in error). I was told their GM was out of town and they would not access the security cameras unless the GM was there. They also could not get ahold of the housekeeping employees who handled my items. After getting my bags packed back up, they then let me in the exact same room they had just cleared out hours prior with a simple...sorry there isn't anything we can do. This has been a terrible stay and it was such a huge invasion of my privacy. It is mind blowing to me that they will let their employees walk into your room and help themselves to your things without any consequences. I have included a picture of how they handed me my things (minus my iPad and charger). Update- we have now been told by the assistant manager that we just need to contact apple again and then call the police to follow up on our report. The staff have been giving us the runaround when we call to inquire about follow up action on their part. We have also been told that we will mostly likely not get refunded for the items that were stolen BY THEIR STAFF WHEN THEY WRONGLY HANDLED OUR PERSONAL ITEMS. This Comfort Suites is pretty nice. Older property that can use some sprucing up. I'm able to overlook scuffs and chips on the walls. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The sitting area with a couch, chair and side table is a nice addition. Plenty of closet space and a nice dresser with tv. Desk and chair has a direct CAT 5 network connection and their WiFi is fast and reliable. The suite has a good sized mini fridge, microwave and coffee service. The bathroom had plenty of clean towels and the shower was perfect. We are coffee snobs so we always bring our own press and cream. The hot water in the breakfast area was easy to access for our press. Breakfast was free, average fair. We prefer low carb and had no problem sticking to it with scrambled eggs, cheese and sausage patties. If you need a place to lay your head on a quick trip to Topeka, this is a great choice. read more

The hotel is older - holes in the bathroom- - carpet in the hallways torn. The bed was comfy except or the soap they used they used to wash the sheets - too stinky for someone who hates fragrance- had to get a towel to cover my nose until I fell asleep. Dog friendly - kinda of - a sheet of rules - this was the 7th hotel we stopped at and never have seen such a list. I gave a two based on the price $100 plus 40 for the dog based on the condition of the hotel - one of the most expensive on our way to and from the east coast. It smells, the staff is not helpful, and I am over it. Our keys stopped working multiple times during our stay and not once did the staff apologize. I will NEVER stay here again. No water fountains or water bottle fillers. One ice maker on first floor only. Pool is dirty. Not a good stay. Please read my other posts and find out that I do not rate one star. This is not a place to stay- don't waste your time or money. The floors in the rooms are gross. One toilet paper roll and one tissue box - my daughter even got stuck on the toilet bc we ran out of it. We had to go down to the desk to get more again no apology or acceptance of blame. Needs cleaning, for only being a few years old this place is wearing poorly. My tub and shower head were not clean, the breakfast area was not cleaned up well in the AM and the food was not prepared with care. The door is broken off my closet. The hallways needs vacuuming. Overall some extra attention to cleanliness would benefit this place. The gym and the pool are on the small size. On the bright side the foyer is fancy looking and the rooms are a good size. We arrived late to check in after a very long drive. The lady at the front desk acted like she was put out that we were there. No smile, no greeting except asking for name. We went to our room. Unloaded everything and then we then we realized that the TV didn't work. So we had to go to the front desk to have someone come up to help us get it working. Took 30 minutes. She left and then we realized the volume didn't work on the remote or directly off the TV. So we turned it off. Started unpacking the little bit of food we had and realized we didn't have a refrigerator. In the morning we went and got coffee. When the coffee cooled off we thought we would nuke it to heat it up. What? No microwave. Cleaning people came to my door at 9:00 am to clean the room. I turned her away and looked for a do not disturb tag to hang from the door. There wasn't one. I was going to call the front desk and realized WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A PHONE IN THE ROOM. I went to the front desk and asked the snarky morning lady if the rooms were supposed to have phones. She said yes. I said ours doesn't have one. I asked if rooms were supposed to have Microwaves. She said "some of them do". I said your website said rooms come with microwaves. She said "we don't maintain the website" WTF? I asked if rooms were supposed to have refrigerators, "she said some of them do" WHAT? I said your website said you provide refrigerators? She replied "we don't maintain the website" So I told the front desk lady that you should disclose you don't get what the website says. As I was walking away she shouted to me "Have a good day" just to be a B#%@H. So aside from how nasty the couch was, and not having a phone, a microwave, a refrigerator and sound on the TV........it had everything someone would need. BTW the room was 60 degrees when we showed up. Then we got a supplemental charge of $40 for an animal charge. We don't have an animal. Honestly, we've been traveling the country looking for a place to retire. This place is the worst place we've stayed. NO MORE COMFORT INN's for us. We're sticking with Holiday Inn Express. I was going to attached pictures to illustrate how nasty this place is. But we don't have time to spend on S#%@Holes like this. I hope this review keeps people from staying at this place. read more

Our stay was luxurious!! Wonderful smelling soaps and lotions. Towels and sheets smelled better than at home. As my head hit the perfectly plumped pillows, I believed I was a millionaire. Tile in hallways makes it easier to keep clean and tidy. King-size suite included love seat, easy chair, extra rolling table (all wooden furniture), and coffee table. Outlets convenient and plenty. Very disappointed. Booked as a soccer group for tournament in town. One family found bed bugs, and they moved their room (as they should). But, they placed another family in that room! Asked for money back in morning, and they were very reluctant to give back (had to argue). Disappointed to say the least. This place is trash. We arrived for a softball tournament and were forced to choose between a couple hotels and went with this one. The toilet in my room had fecal matter on it from a previous guest and we were told that there wasn't anyone available to clean it but we were welcome to clean it ourselves. There was blood near the elevator buttons which the guy at the front desk did clean once he was made aware. Carpets did not look vacuumed at all and the shower had hairs of the short and curly variety all over as well. This all happened on a Friday. We were not able to contact a manager until Tuesday. The manager, Greg, then basically blamed us for being bad guests. We're supposedly getting a full refund but as of now, they are holding $865 for a $100 room. Do not stay here. But a tent and hit the woods! UPDATE: Apparently Greg has been fired. A different manager has contacted us and was very helpful, as well as, apologetic. I bumped the rating up to 3 stars for his actions alone as the visit was very poor but I think a lot of this could be attributed to Greg's poor management. They are making this right with us by giving a full refund and comp stays. Personally, I'd still be cautious about staying here but I can say they are "doing us right". read more

I stay at a Comfort Inn at least 4 times a month for work. I'm typically very pleased with the quality and service of the hotels. Shortly after checking in a manager walked into my room without knocking, while I was changing clothes. The staff was very dismissive of what happened. I also had to work on the air conditioner on a 90 degree day in order to be comfortable. When I spoke to the manager about these two incidents he told me to report to corporate. read more

We were traveling and had to stop for the night. We had a small dog w us and we paid $40 pet fee but well worth it. No hassle here at all and the most comfortable and fresh smelling bed we've ever had at any high end hotel. Pillows were perfect and the comforter didn't slide around on the bed. A/c was perfect!! We weren't hot and cold off and on all night. Plenty of towels and the entire hotel was clean and lit w bright lights and there wasn't any odd odors anywhere in the hotel. Upon entering the hotel, we were impressed with the lobby area. They offer iced tea and lemonade along with pretzels. Nice clean room. Smelled fresh. Comfortable bed. The breakfast was good with a nice selection. We didn't use the pool, The only issue we seemed to have was the sound of water, we were on the 3rd floor and could hear the water flowing for the room beneath Ours. My young daughter & I drive all night from Texas to meet my mom, who lives in Minnesota. The drive took longer than expected, I got very little sleep, and my reservation that was booked through a 3rd party got screwed up so I had no room when we arrived. Karen and Greg were so helpful, and went above and beyond the call of duty, cheerfully, I might add, to help us to get into a room as soon as possible, even though the hotel was very busy. This hotel was very nice! I was not expecting much to be honest. When we walked in, the lobby was really nice and cozy. It was much better than I expected. The room was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. I was impressed by this hotel. The breakfast was actually pretty good, and there were lots of choices. I must say that the biscuits and gravy were addicting and very rich and creamy. The wifi was bad and lost connection all the time.
