This is how my personal items were handed to me by the front desk (clothes, food, drinks, and personal hygiene products)

DO NOT STAY HERE IS YOU VALUE YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS. This hotel started by messing up my hotel reservation and giving me a key to an already occupied room. They informed me that they "fixed" the issues and gave me a room that I booked for the entire weekend. They next day, they had one of THEIR EMPLOYEES" pack up all of my belongs and place them in a trash bag (days before I was set to check out). I'm assuming they never updated the "fixed reservation". I arrived after work to find that my room key didn't work and was handed this trash bag full of my items ( including personal hygiene items their housekeeper handled, drinks, and food that I was planning on eating for dinner). I was left to go through it and found that my IPAD and fast charger were gone. They had been stolen when my stuff was packed up by the staff. The hotel then informed me that they are not responsible for my stolen items even though it was their employees that packed up my things (in error). I was told their GM was out of town and they would not access the security cameras unless the GM was there. They also could not get ahold of the housekeeping employees who handled my items. After getting my bags packed back up, they then let me in the exact same room they had just cleared out hours prior with a simple...sorry there isn't anything we can do. This has been a terrible stay and it was such a huge invasion of my privacy. It is mind blowing to me that they will let their employees walk into your room and help themselves to your things without any consequences. I have included a picture of how they handed me my things (minus my iPad and charger). Update- we have now been told by the assistant manager that we just need to contact apple again and then call the police to follow up on our report. The staff have been giving us the runaround when we call to inquire about follow up action on their part. We have also been told that we will mostly likely not get refunded for the items that were stolen BY THEIR STAFF WHEN THEY WRONGLY HANDLED OUR PERSONAL ITEMS. I am completely blown away by the lack of communication and professionalism by this hotel. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR PERSONAL ITEMS.

This Comfort Suites is pretty nice. Older property that can use some sprucing up. I'm able to overlook scuffs and chips on the walls. The bed was very comfortable and clean. The sitting area with a couch, chair and side table is a nice addition. Plenty of closet space and a nice dresser with tv. Desk and chair has a direct CAT 5 network connection and their WiFi is fast and reliable. The suite has a good sized mini fridge, microwave and coffee service. The bathroom had plenty of clean towels and the shower was perfect. We are coffee snobs so we always bring our own press and cream. The hot water in the breakfast area was easy to access for our press. Breakfast was free, average fair. We prefer low carb and had no problem sticking to it with scrambled eggs, cheese and sausage patties. If you need a place to lay your head on a quick trip to Topeka, this is a great choice.

Quick snapshot of the room. No complaints.

Nice, clean property. I can't get to bed quick enough. I always love staying at the Comfort hotels. It has good access to food that is within walking distance from the lobby.

Needs cleaning, for only being a few years old this place is wearing poorly. My tub and shower head were not clean, the breakfast area was not cleaned up well in the AM and the food was not prepared with care. The door is broken off my closet. The hallways needs vacuuming. Overall some extra attention to cleanliness would benefit this place. The gym and the pool are on the small size. On the bright side the foyer is fancy looking and the rooms are a good size. They also serve free food and week day evenings.

The "living room" part of the seat.

This place has a great Addams Family vibe -- very gothic-Victorian. There are several different…read morehouses on the same street which are part of the B&B, and we stayed in the main one, a 1920s Tudor-style mansion which was once one of the most valuable homes in Topeka. The living room was designed after a Tudor-era library, with lots of dark carved woodwork and stained-glass windows. The owner seems to be on a mission to save her block of this urban neighborhood in Topeka which is safe but has seen better days. As the rundown-but-beautiful houses on her block go on the market, she snaps them up, renovates them, and adds them to her little mini-village of bed-and-breakfast venues. She's a one-woman neighborhood rehabilitation program and has obviously made this her life's work, down to collecting decorative items to lovingly put her idiosyncratic touch on every square inch. Our room -- The Chester, named after the original owner of the mansion, Chester Woodward -- included a private full bath and a small gardenlike private rooftop deck with a hot tub. The room is cozy rather than spacious but very comfortable. Every night the owner brings out a homemade dessert (the night we were there it was a lemon-cheese ball to be spread on homemade sugar cookies the way you'd spread a savory cheese ball on crackers -- I'm so stealing this idea) and her morning breakfasts are lavish. She checked our convenience for breakfast and was clearly prepared to serve earlier or later depending on our needs. She was also happy to give us pointers on where to eat and what to see in Topeka. The Saturday night we were there she'd arranged for a couples' massage team to offer massages for guests. We didn't take advantage of it but other guests were. I would definitely stay here again if I were in Topeka overnight.

Guest Services: The nice American lady was obliged to help us. Very friendly and knowledgable of the area. Security: Dimly-lit parking lot at night. It's located on a highway with many retail shops, so it has the ability to be busy, I'm sure. Room: For approx $65, what do you really expect? There is a desk with an office chair as well as a small sofa. The decor is from the 1970s or 80s, probably when the place was constructed. Cable t.v., free wifi. Nothing really spectacular, but I could bring my labs inside--so I was content. Bathroom: Small & Cramped! The water pressure was ok. I've experienced worse. Breakfast: Nothing to write home about here. Waffles and muffins. Atkins BEWARE! You might want to stash a protein shake in your bag. Pet Policy: I think I paid $10 per pet, which tacked on an extra $20 for my tab. Overall, the place was clean, they had a bed, and it was quiet. Check in and check out was a breeze. There were a few other people staying here, but I never heard them. I would not stay here alone if I were traveling solo. I would consider lodging here again if we were in the area with my labs, but if I weren't trying to get them into a reasonable hotel, I would have chosen a different place to stay the night.

We had a nonsmoking room and there was no smoke smell but there were what appeared to be cigarette burn marks in multiple places in the bathroom. I didn't care for the area-seemed a little sketchy- a positive- there were parking spots right in front of the hotel and that area is well lighted. Other positives: good water pressure and our room was spacious- there was a sofa in the room. Just can't recommend-sorry
