LIFE SAVER!!! While on our way to New Orleans my car shut down while on I 10.... I floated the car down the off ramp and into a used car lot (Yeah I had the cruise control at 90mph). I was referred to them by the staff of the used car lot and while waiting on AAA towing I spoke to their secretary who after lunch sent the owner and another tech out to my location. After being towed to their place I was told I needed a new fuel pump. They pulled up the schematic for my car, ordered and picked up the part, replaced the part and topped off all of my fluids all in about 45 mins. The price was cool and the staff nice & accommodating. We were fixed and on the road in 45 mins. I'm thankful for all involved in making this minor inconvenience.... smooth. These Guys Saved My Bacon! I had engine problems while passing through the area on my way to south FL. I called several area shops, but Commerce called me back directly, and the tech drove out to me to assess if I needed a tow. Within five minutes he knew it was my Mass Airflow Sensor, cancelled the tow, and he had me follow him, slowly of course, back to the shop where he already had the part waiting. In Summary: He drove six miles to personally diagnose it, did so properly, ordered the part en route, had it delivered, installed it, and had me on my way in less than an hour, and all for a reasonable price. On July 28th, 2016 I brought my vehicle to Commerce Automotive because I had warm air blowing from my vents when at idle. Their staff told me they would take a look at it and get back to me. A few hours later I received a phone call from the lead technician who told me my mechanical fan clutch was the issue and it needed to be replaced, the fan clutch was changed only to find out that the fan clutch did not fix the problem. Next the lead technician wanted to change my condenser, orifice tube, and dryer. This still did not fix the problem and my vehicle was still blowing warm air at idle. Now, 1 week later the technician and I spoke about the possible issues and what it may cost. He tells me that there is a block somewhere in my system and it's causing my pressures to run too high, that the issue is either the compressor or the evaporator in the dash. So, process of elimination, I authorize the technician to change the compressor to find out yet again that did not fix my problem. First my low side pressure is too high, then my low side pressure is good and my high side pressure is too high. The technician tells me the only part left to change is the evaporator, at this point changing the evaporator would give me a complete and brand new air conditioning system. On August 9th, 2016 roughly 2 weeks at Commerce Automotive with very little to no progress I decided to take my vehicle somewhere else because all Commerce Automotive did was change out working parts for new parts that did not fix the problem. The technician told me the only part left to replace is the evaporator and that it has to be the problem and that if the evaporator did not fix the problem he would not know what to do after that. Upon receiving my vehicle, I noticed there were various scratches on my cool air intake cover that were not there when I dropped off my vehicle. I was more upset with the scratches on my cool air intake cover because it showed a lack of respect for my vehicle and my property. Because Commerce Automotive did not fix my problem, I asked them to compensate the labor at $302 while I pay for the parts costing $863.96. I was told that is the most they can come down on the price and that they did not charge me for several hours of labor. While the temperature of the air coming out of the vents when I dropped the vehicle off is unknown, the lowest temperature Commerce Automotive was able to achieve was 78*. $1,241.75 is what Commerce Automotive charged me for not fixing my warm air at idle problem and to deface my cool air intake cover. On August 11th, 2016 I took my vehicle to another local shop where the technician spoke with me about my vehicle for about an hour and even took a drive with me so he can experience the issue first hand. Within 2 hours after I dropped off my vehicle the technician called me and told me my fresh air intake door actuator was not working. That my air was not circulating within the cabin resulting in hot air constantly being drawn from outside. When asked how he came to that conclusion, he said basic diagnosis of a vehicle and making sure all the controls worked is how he found the problem, which Commerce Automotive obviously did not do. I authorized the actuator to be replaced, lone behold that fixed the problem and brought the temperature of the air from Commerce Automotive's 78* to 56*. Replacing the actuator that is located behind the dash cost me $583.28. That brings me to a total of $1,825.03 in debt vs $583.28 if Commerce Automotive would have done a basic diagnosis instead of just changing parts and hoping that fixes the problem. On August 17, 2016 I returned to Commerce Automotive to let them know what the problem was so they don't make the same mistake on another customer's vehicle. The technician at Commerce Automotive refuses to believe that the fresh air intake actuator fixed the problem. I notified them that as a member of the Santa Rosa County community I am going to share my experience with them as well as share whether or not they made things right. I was charged $1,241.75 to replace parts that worked, as well as damage to my property resulting in an overall incomplete job. I am still waiting for the owner to get in touch with me to see if he is willing to do anything to compensate me for an incomplete job. Commerce Automotive did not diagnose my vehicle, they simply took a guess and changed out parts while charging me for their mistake.
