Horrible Experience with Smith Automotive Towing and Recovery…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. Smith Automotive Towing and Recovery is by far the worst towing company I have ever dealt with. My car broke down, and after calling them, I was told a truck would arrive within 30 minutes. TWO HOURS later, I was still waiting, only to be met with a rude dispatcher who clearly couldn't care less. When the driver finally arrived, he was unfriendly and unprofessional, acting like he was doing me a favor. To make matters worse, they charged me an outrageous fee for a simple tow--way more than they originally quoted! The worst part? My car was damaged in the process, and they refused to take responsibility, blaming me instead. Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from this company. Unreliable, overpriced, and completely unprofessional.

He very clearly informed me of what was going to be done and what I should do going forward with the tow as well as great advice on how to deal with my insurance. You can tell he cares about his job and how he represents his company. If I have any issues or needs this guy I'd call any day I highly recommend. He also explained how to properly tie down a bike while towing for a safe transport as well as not to harm the bike more in the process. Very very insightful. Thank you again Brian 100% satisfied customer

Pulled in w/out an…read moreappointment the day after Christmas, multiple 'warning lights' on the dash of my new used car (2017 Honda Accord hybrid) decided to light up on the morning I gotta drive my kid and their friend to SF for a flight. AJ, who I think is the owner, was super welcoming and took 20+ minutes to give the car a once-over to confirm I was safe to drive it as-is for the 350 mile roundtrip. Yep, buncha indicator lights but nothing urgent. Topped off the oil just to be on the safe side. Didn't. Charge. Me. A. Thing. An honest mechanic is hard to find...actually wish I lived closer to Willits so I could take my car here every time!

I have a 2005 Lexus RX 330 SUV with 413,000 miles on it. Onward Auto…read moreRepair is the only vehicle repair shop that I use to do any, and all, of my vehicle repairs at. This included, but was not limited to, diagnosing and replacing the front brakes; replacing the front structs (with shock absorbers) and the rear struts (with shock absorbers) assemblies; the rear wheel hub repairs; the service of the transmission and change of the transfer case fluid; and, also the evaporative emission system diagnosis; and replacement of heating ventilation blower fan. In addition, I have all of my oil changes done here; except when I traveling long distances where the mileage accrues. In each instance, Onward Auto Repair articulated to me in a highly informative manner for each thing which was at issue; and provided qualified reasoning for what I should consider. Low pressure, but with all of the skills, training, expertise, knowledge of the best of the best vehicle repair mechanics. I have driven over one million millions and I have resided in a score of locations, in several states. Even when I move from this area, I will make an appointment and bring my vehicle here. It is not that other mechanics aren't qualified; it is that they simply do not have all of the expertise. With all of its diagnostic equipment, which is extensive, Onward Auto Repair can do every type of vehicle analysis, which encompasses several hundreds of types of vehicle issues. This repair shop makes very formal written estimates, with extensive verbal explanations so that I can fully comprehend what the repair entails and why it should be highly considered. In addition, where appropriate, Onward Auto Repair will take Photographs of things which cannot be seen by the vehicle owner when parts are removed under the vehicle lift, whereupon an analysis is made as to those things which need repair(s) and/or replacement(s) of parts. Outside of a vehicle dealership's vehicle repair center, I know of no other vehicle repair shop that would be able to make the analysis of any given vehicle item that Onward Auto Repair. Even the prices are substantially less than a new vehicle dealer's repair prices. I am certain that my vehicle will be in qualified condition for at least 600,000 miles. I do have my transmission fluid changed every 60,000 miles, which also contributes the longevity of my vehicle, and I only use my vehicle brakes about ten percent of what most other vehicle operators do. While this ensures that any gas powered vehicle I drive will get at least 600,000 miles on it, it is the professional support I have received at Onward Auto Repair which ensures that this will occur. I leave with smile each time I depart from this repair shop.

DO NOT take your vehicle to this very unprofessional company for any reason, especially if you are…read morefemale. After purchasing a very nice used Tacoma, against my better judgement, my girlfriend took it to this company to purchase an oil change on the way to the bay area to pickup her father from the airport. The vehicle was in near flawless condition (no check engine light on) with less than 100k on it. After purchasing an oil change, they took it upon themselves to upsell her an air filter. As she leaves and gets on the 101 South, the truck is running horrible and she notices the check engine light is on. She calls me frantically, and obviously I'm assuming for safety reasons that the truck should not be driven and I instructed her to take it to the nearest shop. I called and spoke with the faux-manager Luis, explained the situation, my fears, and he instructed/agreed with me that I should take it to the nearest shop, which we immediately did. Upon inspection, and after $130 out of my pocket, they stated that the engine code was a 0171, or the fuel/air ratio was lean, reset the computer and luckily it seemed to correct the issue and after some time playing phone tag, calling rental car companies, etc., my girlfriend was back on the road, late, to retrieve her father from the airport. A few days pass, and I happen to be in Ukiah, so I swing by to talk about how they we could come to agreement on repaying my out of pocket expenses ($200+ oil change). I stated I felt like splitting the costs of the second shop would make me satisfied. After another hour of calmly explaining my position that typically customers expected to have their vehicles leave in a better condition than they arrive, quasi-manager decided to bring in upper management. In walks Gary, an aging shell of a once respectable former man, who I absolutely hope is not an owner of this establishment. I reexplain the whole story again, however with Gary, he couldn't hold back his devilish/greasy smirks. I ask Gary what about a $200+ oil change was funny? Regardless of Gary's complete and utter lack of character/ethics, he still insisted that his shop had nothing to do with the issues and told me verbatim I was "shit out of luck". My honest opinion is that if you're attempting to get this sham of a company to do any work on your vehicle, or even let them touch it, you'd be better off and most likely more thorough if you were to drive it off of a cliff...Hopefully "real" management sees this and corrects this utter lack of incompetence...Our Mendocino county deserves better!
