Brought a car in before purchasing to get an inspection and verify the head gasket and timing belt were good. Was told all clear-that night the car overheated. Brought in NEXT DAY at 8am-didnt look at it til after 130pm.... 24 hrs later-new thermostat installed, uninstalled,...final verdict-it WAS the head gasket. $700 of work AFTER being told-BY THEM-that engine was good. Staff very unprofessional-they were using their phones to Google what to do. Don't waste your money here. read more

We were just driving through on a road trip up the coast. We had just planned to stop for a couple of hours and see Glass beach and get some food. Our camper van was squeaking loud enough that we couldn't ignore it anymore. My partner suspected it was the ball joints and they had already been squeaking a couple hundred miles. We called around and no where had any openings for at least a week out. Adam's got us in the next day at noon. They were prompt, fairly priced and their customer service was excellent. Plus they didn't even mind that we posted up in the van with our two dogs since it's technically our road home turns out it was the ball joints but they just needed to be oiled up. 10/10 for their customer service and honesty. On my way up north my MDX suffered an engine misfire. My wife, baby and I had to make an emergency pit stop to the closest auto shop which happened to be Adam's. They were busy that day and really didn't need to check on my car but did any ways and Adam was very patient in diagnosing the issue. One of the workers there, I think his name was Coleman, actually went all the way to Ukiah during his lunch break to pick up a part for us otherwise we would have had to wait 3 more hours until it arrived. This place is bad ass, I went to get a second opinion on my 16 Ford Explorer having issues and after diagnosis they charged me 190$ after Auto Mart Auto Repair down the ride tried to rap me for 500$ talking about all kinds of shit. I was a customer for 2 years, really liked these folks, until I had my steering column replaced and their new mechanic gave me back my van at the end of the day. He forgot to put the cover back on, almost forgot my key, and clearly didn't test drive before returning vehicle because as I was driving away I could hear the steering click as I was turning, like it wanted to lock up. It was a Friday, they had just closed, there was nothing I could do to check in with them till Monday. Long story short, the steering locked up on Comptche Ukiah Road, I went off the road on the steep side, luckily (!!!!) a tree stopped me but the van was totalled. I'm very poor, the van was my home while I was waiting for housing (I'm also a local, born and raised), and I'd put thousands into the van at their shop for 2 years. This is a belated review for the owner. During a trip with my girlfriend to the area during the end of 2012, my truck suddenly lost power while going uphill. I thought it was the transmission failing, as that had occurred previously and was an expensive repair. We found this business while looking for a local mechanic and not only did he come and tow us from where my vehicle was, he diagnosed the real issue honestly, which was something much less expensive than I had thought it was, and repaired it at a much lower cost ( including the tow ) than he could have given our situation being from out of town and stranded without the vehicle. Made an appointment a few days before for unmounting and mounting new tires, made the appointment for 130 and they kept the car overnight without making contact to see if it's okay. I called the next day and they said the tires didn't fit, although they were the same size already on. I ask them to put the old tires back on so I can return the new tires and get a proper size, then they tell me they threw out the old tires and I'm being charged for their disposal. They eventually found tires that fit after keeping my car for 2 weeks without ever calling and checking in. After retrieving my car i realized the tank was 1/2 full although it was 1/4 tank when I dropped it over. No big deal I figured they may have put some gas in for the test drive. I drove around the corner and brake down. I called and said they need to come get the car as the also diagnosed it and said no major issues. I siphoned out the gas and realized the extra 1/4 tank of gas in my car was water, during its time at their shop on their property it somehow got 1/4 tank of water, which is enough grounds to take it to small claims court however I decided not to bother. They never returned my call when I told them I broke down. In the end, I got charged for scrapping tires I said to keep, my car was more damaged than it was when brought in, and they kept it for 2 weeks for a 2-hour job. read more

He's worked on repairing a couple of our cars (after they died) and has always been able to identify the problem and repair it at a reasonable price. The shop is a bit "rustic" (to say the least), but his prices are far more reasonable than any dealership and he won't charge you for items you don't need (though he may make recommendations). read more
