Great place for live professional (Jesse & Noah Bellamy, their mom was in the audience) music at a restored historical hotel with restaurant & music cafe. I haven't had such a good meal & lovely entertainment in many years of this caliber. I only wish I could attend more often. It will be on my calendar to return & hopefully get to stay at the B&B & hear the ghost stories! Kathy & her husband Mike from RI have a special touch with their guests & menu I loved the inventive cocktails!! I would definitely come here to hear the music regardless of the great food!! Ashley was unbelievable. She is the hotel manager and attempted in EVERY WAY to make my experience wonderful. I was there on business, and she provided an awesome work/rest atmosphere even going as far as to offer me a workspace when a mishap took place in my room. Before I arrived, I call for recommendations on a dog daycare within the area. She immediately informed of pets being able to stay but that also she would be willing to check on my pet while I was working. Yes, it is an older establishment, but they brought a NEWNESS to customer service throughout. Will definitely stay again. read more

Food was fresh and delicious . The café and hotel were very quaint. A great place to eat and stay. Very close to the park. The service was out of this world great. The night manager helped us carry our luggage to our room. The overall service was excellent. The people in this were so friendly and nice, we will definitely come back. Tired of the normal fare of the hotel chains, on our way back to VA from Lake of the Ozarks, I looked this up while the hubs was driving. When I called a gentleman named Cliff answered and said "come on by- we'll be here!". We actually had to backtrack on the highway because we missed the exit (my fault), but the hubs said I made a good call! I think we got there around 1900, so it was late. Great rate- nice little speakeasy bar and country kitchen on the property which you just don't find in the big chains. Hospitality out the wazoo! Cliff was a great host and conversationalist and I am so glad we stopped. Took a walk and did some drone fly overs of the river in the town- overall- my hubs and Cliff could have talked all night if we weren't so tired driving from Lees Summit, MO that day. We didn't stay at the hotel but stopped in to eat at their speakeasy lounge. The commodore (drink) was tasty and their burgers are delicious and properly prepared. It's a small locally owned joint so the service may be a little slow at peak times but they're friendly and as attentive as they can be! read more

Nicely run hotel in a very quaint little town. My wife and I stayed here in December 2014, after deciding that we wanted to take a short vacation to Tennessee and seeing a deal on Groupon Getaways. Linden is basically located halfway between Nashville and Memphis. Keep in mind that it's quite a bit away from a major highway, so you'll be driving a bit to get around to places. We also went in the offseason during the winter, so that meant the town was pretty quiet. After a small hiccup at check-in, we went to our rooms. The rooms are decently clean with comfortable beds, but a little outdated. The room we stayed in had a large bathroom, which was stocked with some nice local soaps. Wifi speed at the time we stayed was very spotty, as was cellular reception in the whole town in general. But that's to be expected considering how rural this area is. Overall, this is a nice option for those looking to stay in a small town in the area. read more

I'm so happy I found this place on YELP. Warm, cozy, clean, and friendly owners/staff. My alternatives were a yucky motel in Hohenwald or drive 45 minutes for the usual overpriced corporate places. Had a fabulous conversation with one of the owners. Learned some local history and had some yummy homemade chicken noodle soup. Looking forward to breakfast in the morning. My only regret is having to leave so soon, because I'd love to stay for dinner and live music on the weekends. read more

The staff is horrible. The coffee pot did not work and when reported was told they had no extra and then asked what we did to it.???? Turns out it qas a bad outlet. So they need an electrician . They never apologized for the inconvenience. read more

Booked the king suite for 2 nights but found that the jacuzzi room was nicer so we stayed in it our second night. When we changed our room the second night we were told by the staff that it was $20 more so we paid it. Later I checked their website and found that the jacuzzi room is actually $10 cheaper than the suite. The staff member that charged us did not give us a receipt... The cafe is not what they make it out to be on their website. We were never offered a menu for breakfast and they didn't offer the gourmet selections advertised on their website for dinner. My husband got the blackened prime rib and it looked like a thin ribeye. I had the hamburger steak & our friends got the cheeseburger both of which were really good. The coffee is the BEST I've ever had. It's local and isn't bitter at all. I could drink it without any cream. I would stay here again because the rooms are really nice & it definitely has a small town atmosphere. At least next time I'll know what to expect with the cafe... read more

The experience here for us started with a Groupon for a getaway. I was glad to see upon arrival that it was a very cute little place in the middle of a small town. We arrived and were escorted to our room by one of the staff. Guest rooms are up a stairwell and this is not a facility with an elevator, so it is limited to able bodied individuals. It quickly became apparent that the wifi would not allow us to connect with the password provided. After working with the staff and them finding that they could not connect, all agreed to reboot the routers and extenders and the problem was resolved. Feeling that the heat was inadequate in our room I learned they there were no means of altering the temperature by the guests. Luckily they were prepared with space heaters to allow guests to make their rooms more comfortable. After unpacking and getting situated we decided to dine at the attached cafe. The staff was nice and the place was cute. The entertainment for the evening was a local 20 something that played the guitar and sang with a very pronounced nasal twang. I ordered a blackened prime rib prepared medium. It arrived at the table in a very well done state as if it had set on the grill for an extended part of the evening. The meat was filled with gristle and was overly salted in an attempt to hide its actual flavor. We departed and made the 30 minute trip to acquire food for the remainder of our stay from Walmart. Luckily they provided small refrigerators in the rooms. Our evening was fairly uneventful but we woke to the sound of children playing loudly in the next room. The walls are very thin between the rooms and anything said with emphasis in one room is easily heard in the next. The children rolling and bouncing toys on the wooden floor of their room was well amplified into ours. The end result was we decided to leave after the first of two nights stay we had prepaid for and forfeited our remaining night. I would suggest ordering something simple to prepare like a hamburger if you are eating there, and bring your earplugs. read more

Stayed at the Commodore with my wife for an early Valentine get-a-way. Loved it! Everything I was looking for, peace and quite. Arrived Friday night and enjoyed live music, spent the night in a great room, enjoyed breakfast the next morning. Everything was great. Wife loved the whole experience. Big points for me. First, you have to be reasonable in your expectations. I rated this 5 stars and mean it, but in many ways, it cant compare with a $300 room in Nashville. People are very nice, the hotel is interesting, lots of history. Room clean, bed comfortable. The first time I have had an actual key and not a card to a hotel, in years. We ate burger and fries from the cafe, also a 5. Big servings, very tasty. When in the area we'll stay again and highly recommend it read more

They really help keep things moving and provided everything I needed. We have made many trips between Georgia and Arkansas, most of which were on the Interstate, bypassing Linden, Tennessee. Not anymore. From now on, our trip will be broken into two easy days versus one very long and tiring day, with an overnight stop at The Commodore Hotel in Linden. We found this wonderful place due to the chance discovery of an old friend we had lost track of many years ago, who was just "Mike" then, but has since become "Chef Michael," the Executive Chef at The Commodore. The rooms were great; carefully restored to their pre-WWII splendor when the hotel was new, and complete with all the amenities modern travelers expect. The food and hospitality were even better. From the time we walked through the door and met Kathy (owner) and Amy (manager), we felt we were part of the family. A late dinner, courtesy of Chef Michael made the experience complete. The pecan-crusted tilapia and grilled salmon with risotto were on par with any high-end restaurant in a city much larger than Linden. So good, in fact, that anyone that lives in this part of Tennessee owes themselves a trip to Linden. The drive from Columbia to Linden, a step back in time with winding mountain roads, scenic churches with old roadside cemeteries, was a pleasure in itself. We can only imagine how beautiful the drive will be in the fall. The Commodore is worth the trip, whether you live in the area or are just passing through. We will return to Linden on future trips, hopefully MANY times. read more

To say it is quaint would be oversimplification. It is both elegant and simple. The people were friendly and the town is beautiful. There is not much to do, but that was the purpose of our trip. This hotel is definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the extra drive. We rested, enjoyed the food and conversation, and took in some local state parks. Just finished dinner here. This is a small cafe in the ground floor of the historic Commodore hotel in downtown Linden, but with their new chef, they can stand up to most anything you could find in Nashville. Nothing in Jackson compares to the fare and personal service we revived tonight. Not the same place it was even several months ago. The Cornbread crusted pork loin was bursting with flavor and paired with a perfect mushroom risotto. Herb Chicken was wonderful as well. Vegetables were perfectly seasoned and grilled. First of all - this town is so deadbeat that the shops only open at the weekend! The hotel is indeed old. But that's all - it is old with no character or charm. First impression of the lobby is the 'old' carpet smell. They use a building across the street - an old rooming house for rooms. So if you want ice or need to go to breakfast - leave the building and cross the street! They provide one small square of soap that you need to transfer to the shower when you need it. Also, one small vial of shampoo. The soap was not replenished after our first day! Room is entirely bland - no bedspread, just an uncovered duvet. Pillows are dead! No rugs on the floor and no wall art - unless you count the surface electrical conduits and sockets. If you want a hair dryer - go back across the street and request one - there is no phone in the room! If the bathroom is occupied too bad - there is no mirror in the room. Makes the other reviews very questionable. read more

A charming & eclectic place to stay. The building next to the hotel has modern rooms. I like the fact that each room has its own character vs cookie cutter "corporate" owned hotels. While this place is not the Hilton, it is a locally owned, homey & well cared for historic staple in the community. I rate my room 4 stars & it was clean and comfortable. This is a review of the cafe. My mom is from the area and I've been visiting Linden for years. This place, with its friendly new chef, is awesome. I would recommend the porkchop in maple glaze and especially the melt-in-mouth cheesecake for dessert, and I know my relatives enjoyed the grits. This was a very quant hotel, 75 years old. The rooms have been updated a bit. The people are VERY friendly and helpful. But, on the downside, there was coffee in the pot from the last people, kinda a turn off, there was a comb in the window in the bathroom. These two things made me question how well it's cleaned. Then I saw a roach run across the floor! I killed the little booger. You're welcome! And really freaked me out! Ofcourse, it is an old place. I just didn't want any hitch hikers coming home with me... And the beds are stiff. My husband and I woke up hurting. read more

It's the only place in town! My company booked it for me for a business trip and I didn't really know what to expect, but it turned out to be great! The bed was comfy and the owners were extremely nice. You can tell they care about their business. I was also struck by the kindness of the staff, it was a very welcoming environment. The place has a few quirks, it's an old building so expect a few creaking floors and loose doors but I found it entirely acceptable. I ordered the fried chicken plate for lunch at the attached cafe. It was less than $10 including a drink but the taste and quality was worth more. The mashed potatoes were reheated (it was 3 in the afternoon so I can't blame them), but real. The chicken tasted fresh and the flavor was excellent. I would definitely go back if I was in the area. read more

We braved the Buffalo River and after flipping canoes over all day and too much sun we stumbled into this place for the night. I really loved this hotel the staff were awesome(really everyone was great) the lady that checked us in was super nice she walked us to the room and answered any questions. This place reminds me of something that could be maybe haunted!!! (lucky no ghost sightings to report). I would go back to this hotel for a stay anytime; would love to go when they do there civil war reenactments I hear that is amazing to see. This place kind of transports you back to an old town kind of like Mayberry; and like Mayberry nothing at all in the area will be open on Sunday so just be warned. The hotel restaurant was great we just had time for breakfast but their dinner menu looked great. I've just returned home after a lovely week's stay at the Commodore Hotel. It was so charming & very clean. My room was huge, so I had plenty of room to spread out & get some work done, as well as have family up to hang out. Room was quiet at night. Good towels & soap / shampoo. Only downsides (& they were small): wifi was out during my entire stay, which made working a bit of a challenge. Also, there was no place to charge my phone bedside. I finally said something on my last night there & a sweet employee brought up an extension cord & crawled under the bed to hook it up for me. Staff was not always around, but always avail by phone. I chanced on the Commodore when detouring a detour after I-40 was shut down completely. After 3 hours of grueling congestion, I was exhausted, hungry, and cranky. I drove through Linden and spied this charming hotel with what appeared to be a busy cafe. I was completely wowed with the quality of the food, the lively entertainment, and finally, a quiet and comfortable room. It was the perfect antedote for traveler's blues.
