I started going for the physical…read morework out, and I keep going because the instructors and members challenge me in other ways, too. Though I don't talk to many people while there, I feel welcome and part of the community. I appreciate the variety in approaches of the instructors, and I appreciate seeing the wide range of people who attend classes. The facility is very clean and inviting. Inside the studios, the wood floors make the light soft and warm. The heat panels make entering the studios feel like an escape - especially in winter. With regard to the instruction, I feel most challenged in classes led by Polly and Mary. Polly steadily directs corrections and modifications that lead to better posture for safe and healthy workouts. Though I attend a fair amount of classes and maybe shouldn't need those reminders, I appreciate and miss them with most of the other instructors. Polly also teaches a lot of classes (in Northville, too), so if consistency of instruction is important, you'll have lots of options. Mary's voice makes me think she's going to go easy, yet I always come out of her classes thankful for how great of a workout I've gotten. Something about her style and approach to flow sends my mind the message that what she's asking isn't hard, and then moments later my thighs are burning or my abs are crying. I have also attended ashtanga and yin classes at Plymouth Yoga Room. I like the collective, habitual practice of ashtanga and the slower-paced, super stretching of yin. Kendall, at the front desk, is an angel. She seems to know everyone's name, and she sees people. The amount of energy and skill required to do so - given the number and variety of people that come through - is admirable. From time-to-time, classes are too full for me. Being a member of the studio is a significant investment. I want the owners to make money, and I want the instructors and staff to be well-paid. I don't want to run into someone else's body during class. Yes, I understand that those ideas can come into conflict, so when it bothers me, I work hard to let it go. If PYR were a lesser service in any other regard, I would not. Outside of the regularly scheduled classes, PYR sometimes offers workshops that dig into postures (standing, sitting, etc), types of yoga (yin), or meditation. I have enjoyed all of the ones I've attended and find the additional cost reasonable for the level of instruction. I would love more frequent, deeper meditation sessions. Plymouth Yoga Room is probably not for everyone. It provides a high level of fitness and instruction for those it serves.

They offer a wide variety of classes, and there's definitely something for everyone. The descriptions of each class are all on the website, but Healthy Backs and Cool Flow are very gentle classes suitable for beginners, and Slow Burn and Hot Vinyasa are a little more challenging plus there's Ashtanga and Yin, but I think the great thing about them is that everyone could get something out of any of them. It's a very supportive and friendly environment, the garden outside the windows is peaceful and beautiful, and it's just lovely. I highly, highly, highly recommend going here. I have been for about a year and I've noticed so many positive changes in my mind and body and look forward to continuing my practice with Empower!

Unlike other places that offer lots of classes, The Center is set up to create an atmosphere that supports an environment that is conducive to consistent, focused practice. No treadmills, loud music, etc. There is one group room so only one class can be conducted at a time. It's very quiet and feels like sacred space. Of course, while people are in the waiting area there's a lot of positive interaction. On a Covid-19 specific note, because I have an autoimmune disease, I have to be extra careful. Since March, my other public outings have been limited to doctors' offices. I tried to got to a store to buy flowers but had to leave because the chaotic energy scared me. But when I come to class at The Center, it is so clean, well prepared for social distancing and peaceful that I immediately feel comfortable and safe. Namaste.

The owner, Jen, came around and introduced herself and shared more information about White Buffalo. After a few sessions at The Post, I attended a handful of sessions at Saint Johns. Such an incredible yoga experience led by Jen. Finally tried White Buffalo. My first class was Grit with a different instructor. This community is incredible. Grit is warm yoga with fun music. Who doesn't love a gentle yoga flow with some heat and great music? Everyone is so kind! Wish I would have went to a class a lot sooner!

Fast forward a few weeks later and I took advantage of the new student special for $69. It included unlimited yoga and salt options. I've enjoyed Yin so far and will try the salt bed soon. The yoga is held in a halo therapy room with salt added in the room. There are some health benefits noted, but I signed up to find a yoga studio that felt comfortable to practice in. I did notice my airways opened after the first class. There was also tea and coco waiting outside the room. Looking forward to trying more classes and I plan to join after the month is over. I've had a good experience so far, the owners are welcoming and the students practicing as well.

It was such a wonderful experience. The instructor was so sweet and kind, we really explained everything position very well and made us feel very comfortable. The salt room was so peaceful and the waterfall features on the wall made a very nice touch and sound of relaxation. I wish one of the services you offer would also be salt water spa soak too. They offer a wide range of services and different yoga levels too. Thank you for a wonderful time. They also have a little cute gift shop with rocks, oils, bracelets, bags and other different accessories. Definitely well worth the price of what we paid for a group get together for the Canton Women's group. I will definitely be back soon.

I won't be returning. I had been attending classes for 2 months. Just after purchasing a new month…read moreto month unlimited membership, and their holiday special punch card I was scheduled for surgery. I informed them of this and asked what would happen regarding my membership. It was told to me this wasn't uncommon, it would be ok to pause the membership and to speak with the owner. My last class was the week of Christmas and the owner wasn't there. When I returned to class and spoke with the owner she said she couldn't allow people to stop coming to class, start back up when they felt like it, and expecting to still have their membership. Throughout the conversation I explained to her several times that I didn't just stop coming, I had surgery and couldn't attend. By this time other people were there and able to hear the conversation. Because of this, I suggested we discuss it further after class. She then said I should have informed them that I would be having surgery and the best she could do was to give me 7 days. I explained to her that I had informed them ahead of time and was told it wouldn't be an issue pausing membership until I was able return. It was at that time that she said she needed to start class. It was an embarrassing experience and very unprofessional. I found a place closer to home less expensive for the amount of classes, and more welcoming.

The atmosphere here is so welcoming, and all the instructors are extremely helpful and always available to answer any questions I have regarding the exercises we are doing. It's great to be able to take a large variety of "specialized" fitness classes like pilates, barre, and HIIT and circuit training at a location that doesn't lock you into a pricey membership and lets you pay per class or via packages as you go! I've been so much more motivated to work out since I've started attending class here, and the special fitness challenge events, workshop classes, and meal prep events have helped me a lot outside the gym too.

On some weeks, I make it to Northville Yoga 5 times, usually 4, per week, and can recommend this center as an alternative to the heat enduced experience at certain locales, and also to the hip-hop and contemporary rock sound track that now permeates many studios. The yoga practiced here is hatha, usually quite manageable for beginners and intermediate practitioners. There is truly no pressure and no judgement in these classes, and I could not imagine a better place to begin to practice yoga.

Yes, it had been 2 years ago, but when I bought them I was told they did not have an expiration date, otherwise I would have bought a smaller package since I was in the last trimester of my pregnancy. Instead, the owner informed me that the 2 classes I had purchased would not be honored (i guess they magically expired), and then she immediately tried to sell me a new package! Wow. I WAS going to buy another package after I used my 2 classes I had left, but why would I want to give more money to a place that didn't even give me what I paid for last time? Please. I will be going somewhere else, thank you. Also of worth to mention, I disliked how when I brought my sister (who had never done yoga before) with me one of the times for a drop-in class, she was not even allowed to try it free. Every reputable yoga center (and I've been to several in the ann arbor and detroit area) at least lets you try your first class for free. It's called customer service.
