Poor customer service, lies about patient behavior and doctors who don't seem to give a damn

I was hospitalized for 5 days here. While a few staff members were professional and kind, the Commonspirit Entity is Terrible!! I am receiving exorbitant bills after I've already met my deductible and they refuse to resubmit to my health insurance. The administration is completely incompetent and unprofessional! read more

They took great care of my mom. All staff had the best bedside manner I've ever seen. I forget the doctor's name but there's something to be said for a man who has 30 years experience treating emergency patients. We walked out of there in 5 hours but were seen within minutes. They care about the work they do and their patients. I'm so grateful for the team working on Black Friday. They were so amazing to my mom. read more

The doctors and medical staff are great, dealing with the scheduling people is a nightmare. I've waited for weeks for a return phone call. Emily is an absolute Karen, she's doing you a favor to call. When you call in expect to wait hours and then be given the run around. This isn't a one time issue, it's happened to me a dozen times. I've gone to see management at the hospital only to be ignored. Not surprising the Doctor turn over rate is very high. Be warmed. read more

The service leaves a lot to be desired. An urgent referral was made and after a month of waiting and not having phone calls returned, I learned that the referral was denied weeks earlier. Communication equals quality of care with an emphasis on caring. read more

Mercy has terrible service and unprofessional. Mix up appointments and hard to get them

The staff, nurses and doctors provided compassionate care and treatment. They treated me as a person and not just a patient.

My mom was told she had masses in several areas in May of 2024. On 7/19/24 she was diagnosed with bladder cancer. The doctor was moderately thorough at best, and if I knew today( a month later) what I didn't know then, I'd have sent her straight to Denver to be seen by knowledgeable doctors. In the 7/19 apt., she was weighed where we noticed she had gained over 25lbs in a very short period of time. During that same apt., we voiced concern that she was a little bit loopy and somewhat out of it. The doctor kept saying that it was kind of normal and that they could drain the fluid from her body the next day and get her head back to normal by a different medicine. She also told us my mom had a chance to fight and beat the cancer which was "fast to spread, but also fast to kill off." The draining of fluids never happened. the medicines to remove toxins from her body also didn't work because that wasn't even the issue..... 2 weeks after the 7/19 apt. on 8/2 my mom was taken to the ER because she was so out of it and not her normal self at all(which we had said multiple times to her oncologist 2 weeks prior!). on 8/4 I got the worst phone call of my life. Her husband saying the doctor who treated her in the hospital said her organs had been too damaged by the cancer, and she would not make it. He said that she had mere months to live. Well he was wrong too.....She passed 8 days after that month's to live prognosis. We went from having a real shot to fight it, to having month's to live, to not being alive in a matter of 2.5 weeks. If you have a major medical issue this hospital is probably not equipped nor knowledgeable enough to help you. Go to Denver, and get seen by someone with enough knowledge to help, don't wait here because they can't communicate with other doctors in the same hospital let alone help you. Docs treating her during her stay had no access to info from her oncologist nor her charts from them. It's a joke! I'm sure it's fine if you break your arm, or have a minor issue, but anything major you are not going to want to wait around for this medical team to try to fix....... read more

extremely difficult to get the doctors to actually listen to you. goodluck if you use them. they do not care about their patients all they care about it the bottom line and making money. the billing department is also notorious for over billing patients and insurance so beware with your finances read more

If you have anything more serious than a hangnail, you will be flown out. Centura, I mean CommonSpirit, do everything in its power to drive physicians out of Durango. People who relocate to Durango have no idea how bad the quality of health care is here. read more

Gastro. Save yourself and go anywhere but Mercy. It would be funny if it wasn't my health. I'm local, so don't know why it's showing me as S.C. Had to wait five months to get a colonoscopy from a positive Cologuard test. One month of that was trying to even get an appointment set up. My endoscopy showed stomach polyps, which are quite rare and my mom died of from stomach cancer, so I'm very concerned. While in for the procedure, they made several mistakes on my health history. The doctor who performed the procedure, Dr. New, was good. No problem with him. When discharged, they said that my follow-up, which was much needed, would be my already scheduled asthma appointment. What the heck?? I was told yes, that my lungs and stomach were close together. The gastro doctors don't live in Durango. They just fly in for procedures and then fly to other states to go home. I tried to make an appointment here to follow-up. HA! Was told that all of their appointments were booked until the end of the year and that they couldn't book me for next year because they didn't know their schedules. Next year is two months out from 11/4. So I requested to be put on a cancellation/ wait list. NOPE. They can't because I don't already have an existing appointment, which they won't make. Yeah. I then requested to speak to the office manager and was told that she didn't have a phone number or an email -- the only person in the free world without those. I was transferred to her phone, since she wouldn't give me her number, and it rang for minutes. No voice mail either, and when I called the office again, no office manager. I asked for the hospital person over the whole department and was told they don't have any managers. They're just a clinic, she said. So I went to the hospital and asked about an over-manager and was told it was either Brian or Jeff, but no last name. She took my name and phone number and said one of them would call within a day. Two days later, no follow up. The Tuesday (11/5) after the procedure the nurse from the clinic called me. She doesn't manage the office nor does she do the scheduling, but Jackie, the office manager, was afraid to call me even though we hadn't ever spoken. Without understanding what my issues were because Jackie didn't know, Jackie told Ann the nurse to call, who also didn't know what the issues were but talked non-stop trying to get out of the call. She promised to call me back later that day. I still haven't heard anything. This is our health that they're playing with so uncaringly, and there's no oversight by the hospital. Ann kept telling me that I should take whatever appointment they give me, no matter how far out. Well, I can't get any, except with my asthma doctor. When I showed my asthma doctor, at my 11/4 appointment, that she was my follow-up, she was as shocked as I was, and had her office manager call the Jackie at gastro, requesting that they set up a gastro follow-up with gastro. Nothing. I will drive to Denver, six hours, because we're paying hospital personnel here to do anything to avoid doing their jobs. read more

Very clean and nice hospital, brought our daughter in for some GI concerns they immediately took her back and ensured she was taken care of properly and in a timely manner. Doctors and nurses were both super kind and acknowledged all of our concerns. Definitely appreciate them for all they did for us. read more
