    Reviews With Photos - CommTow

Commtow damaged my vehicle and is avoiding responsibility. From what I see from their other reviews other people have had the same issues. they have open investigations against them being a predatory business. Justin Heller says they film everything but yet are refusing to give us the footage they say they have. This company over charges, steals, and damages in hopes of the average person not following through with any legal claims. they are in the wrong.

We had to fight with them, eventually calling for the police to step in, to retrieve our goods out of the car we didn't want any longer.

I had to comment after reading some of these reviews about being towed from Publix in St Pete Beach…read more(Dolphin Village Shopping Center). 1) The owner of the property (NOT Publix or any other of the stores) has a contract with A-1 Recovery to tow vehicles who park there to go to the beach. 2) There are DOZENS of new and bigger signs that say parking is for shopping ONLY (including a BIG one right at the crosswalk light). 3) Buying items at Publix, Starbucks, Dollar Tree, or other Dolphin Village stores does NOT give you the right to cross the street and go to the beach, even with a receipt in the window. 4) Have a little empathy for those of us that are patrons of these stores. If everyone was allowed to park there for trips to the beach, legitimate customers would have nowhere to park! 5) In the 60 minutes I was at Publix on Memorial Day, all of the people walking over to the beach never even looked up at the crosswalk to see the last warning about parking at Dolphin Village to visit the beach. 6) The guys at the tow company are very polite--they're just doing their job. If they have a bad attitude, I'm sure it was started by someone cussing them out for having their vehicle towed. 7) People think the no parking rules apply to everyone but you! Be a grown up and accept YOUR mistake!

The vehicle was picked up the very next morning, well within 24 hours, yet this company charged a…read more$150 "administration/lien fee" that Pinellas County's towing rate schedule does not allow. When contacted the night of the tow, the driver discouraged us from retrieving the vehicle the next day, which immediately raised concerns. We ignored that advice and picked it up the following morning anyway. When we challenged the $150 fee on the spot, the company refused to release the vehicle unless the fee was paid, leaving no practical choice but to pay it to retrieve the car. Base tow charges were consistent with county rates. The issue was the additional fee that should not have been charged at all. This was coercive and unfair. Proceed with caution.
