Probably my favorite boutique in Grand Rapids. If you like the west coast style and are looking for some unique decor this is a must. I've been a repeat customer since they opened at their original location and it's been great seeing them grow to a larger store. Originally was the sister store to Rebel (unsure if this is still the case) but since the beginning they have had a lot if the same pros. If you enjoy either store defiantly check out the other. Commune is a lot more upscale decor focused while rebel has a little bit of everything. I've always been impressed that they carry designer worthy items from small businesses and still are able to provide fair prices. Staff is always nice and store is always clean and organized.

Highly unique and beautifully curated home decor & gift shop. THE destination for that hard-to-shop-for person you want to gift; and you won't leave without finding something or several useful & beautiful hard-to-find things for that special person or yourself.

I've been following Commune on Instagram since before they opened in March, yet somehow had never been in until last weekend. I'm seriously regretting not visiting sooner - although my wallet may be thanking me because I wanted to buy so many things! Commune is like the cool older Californian sister of the beloved shop Rebel, which makes sense as it's owned by the same people. The level of detail and beauty at Commune basically blew my mind, and everything is perfectly curated with an aesthetic that's like the coolest Instagram filter ever. Even though it has a super cool vibe, Commune isn't pretentious and I found so many things there I didn't know I needed. You can get houseware items, jewelry, bath and beauty items, cards, books, candles, and so much more! I think you'd find something new every time you visited the shop. They also are on the cutting edge of the dried florals trend, so stop in to create a bouquet that lasts! I ended up buying a candle that I was so drawn to I kept looking at it multiple times, as well as the perfect 2021 planner to help me manifest my dreams. Commune is now definitely in my top 5 places for gift ideas and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, unique item for yourself or someone else!

We looked through the store a couple times before taking home fabric samples twice. We are so happy with our sofa and look forward to many years enjoying it in our living room. I always thought it was super high end and expensive for some reason. We decided to just browse one Saturday morning and we ended up having a great experience! There is metered street parking in the front of the store, but there's also a large free parking lot behind the building. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we had been in before. When we said no, the friendly employee gave us the lay of the land and told us there are three floors to the store and that it's much bigger than it seems from the outside. Totally true! I always thought this store was small, but it's really huge. We started browsing through all the setups and were immediately impressed by the styling of each area and all the different items. They have all kinds of furniture, decorations, and rugs. Prices were clearly marked which I appreciated since it shows they're not trying to hide anything. I was pleasantly surprised that I found quite a few things that would fit into our budget, along with higher-end, more expensive pieces. They also have a clearance section which we looked through. The pieces I saw mostly swayed more modern and a little less traditional, which is more my style anyway. Upstairs we found a coffee table that was a major upgrade from our current table, but still in our budget and actually quite affordable. It has a metal base and a glass/ceramic top that looks and feels like marble. Super sleek and sophisticated! Christine was upstairs and asked if we needed any help. We asked her about the process for purchasing as we wouldn't be able to fit the table into our car. She told us that we could pay for it and come back with a larger vehicle, or we could pay $60 for local delivery. SOLD! I am all about that convenience and for $60 they can pack and carry the pretty heavy table. We paid for our purchase and Christine was super awesome with the whole process. I am so glad we finally stopped in to Stonesthrow and I can't wait to go back! She did say that they also do special orders if you know something you want and they are able to get it in store. Highly recommend looking here instead of Wayfair etc. for a local option. They also provide interior design services!

In preparing to contact regarding a replacement pillow, upon closer inspection it was obvious the orange/gold pillow was used. The tag was washed out, and the pillow itself had lint from something blue. I contacted the company and asked for a replacement for the wrong product, provided pictures showing the obvious error, and provided the UPC codes for the pillows. Upon receipt of the requested information, I was informed that they had refunded the price of the incorrect pillow, the business did not have the ability to provide a replacement product, but I was free to order another and they would as COURTESY waive one-time the shipping for the replacement. However, they did not really have the ability to waive the shipping fee, I would have to pay it first, and THEN they would waive it when contacted. This was an online purchase, and I have NEVER had such an awful purchasing experience, and I certainly will NOT do any more business with them.

The aisles are wide, the booths are nicely appointed, and there is lots of great natural light from all the windows. I love that they are arranged by "streets" with numbers for each booth, making it easy to remember where you saw something. There are lots of fun things to check out - I love the reading room that also features art from local artists. They have the ability to rent a shelf vs. a whole booth, which I thought was really cool. Possibly the best part - the free popcorn! I also really like the fun decor like the board game wall. Parking is ample on the street in front or the free lot across the street. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to Elevated.

The entrance was a little tricky to navigate. There was a colorful toy/deco arch far off to the left that we went to only to read a note that said Elevated entrance with and arrow pointing to the right. So we turned around and headed to what looked like an office building entrance but once we opened the door there was a black sign with a white E and an arrow to the right with a open door. At the entrance is an old school telephone booth, with either an elevator (ring the bell for service) or stairs. The stairs were super easy to navigate and we were at the top on no time. The minute we walked through the door there is this cool vibe that permeates throughout the establishment. The way the booths are spaced, decorated, and displayed was very unique giving me lots of space to move about and enjoy the thrift experience. I really enjoyed the use of game boards and how they decorated the walls. I plan on using that idea somewhere in my future. There were many items available from jewelry, dishes, clothing, furniture and list goes on. The air was moving with open windows and fans. Also there are four large dressing rooms available that are spacious and clean. We had the opportunity to speak with one of the proprietors of the establishment Heather. Getting her feedback on the space, wanting to create a unique shopping experience for the community melted my heart. Loved they provided free popcorn and all the time not feeling rushed giving the opportunity to enjoy and possibly find a hidden gem. We walked away with some cooking items and stickers but there was a VERY close call on an antique display cabinet that we are still considering going back for. Great value for all of it. Highly recommend to stop in especially September 6th!

I was able to park right outside the entrance, with metered street parking. They have been hosting small businesses to do popups and the day I went was to visit a friend who runs a micro-bakery called Smorris Desserts. It was easy to support a small business who also pours back into other local small businesses and the community. There are so many cute things and also other small artists and creators hosted in the store as well such as Atelier Celeste which is one of my favorite local ceramics artists. I bought a super cute necklace from their jewelry/build your own charm bar near the registers. They had a mix of gold AND SILVER which was really nice since so many places I go to often only sell gold. I also got a cute bag charm for my purse. The prices were honestly really reasonable especially for a small local business. I think if you're able, I would try to get gifts here for friends, parties, etc. The staff is also super great. Lindsay is one of the people who I often see there and they are the coolest, kindest, and most knowledgeable people about the are. They are able to give really great recommendations for things in store and also gave me a local business recommendation for something they didn't carry. Tip: spread out your gift purchases, especially for christmastime, throughout the year! It's easier on your budget to do small things at once and it feels so nice at the end of the year to realize you already did all the hard work!

The reality was, I couldn't travel with the book because it was too large and heavy to add into my luggage. The person who I ASSUME is the owner came over and immediately raised his voice and started calling me names. Saying I'm being shitty and I shouldn't "do that to a small business." I tried to explain why I was doing what I was doing and he made sure to tell me he didn't care. Not that this person will change how they operate but all he had to do was be like "hey do you mind?" And I would have pulled my head out of my ass and been understanding. However! Raising your voice and approaching anyone in that manner is deeply shitty and clearly an attempt at humiliating me. I'm not here to argue that I was in the right, I was just too busy thinking about myself and how I was bummed I couldn't travel with the book. Anyway can't wait to receive that book from literally anywhere else but this shop
