a minute ago I called the place to tell them that they never sent photos to insurance with estimate which is common sense. The receptionist took my number down said they would call me back. I called a few times later no one answered. I asked my sister to call a few seconds after me and they answered her call. So obviously they just dont want to answer the phone from my number. This is worth the read. It outlines how terrible Community Auto Body is. Awful is a huge understatement. Ed is a liar and a cheat. The quality you receive from this body shop is less than sub-par. A few years back I got into an accident, and Ed did a FANTASTIC job. I recently got into an accident, of which the driver-at-fault's insurance company paid the tab. I made a HORRIBLE assumption that Ed kept the same top-notch quality over the years. I was WRONG. You will hear Ed say "We'll get you taken care of" or "We'll make it look GREAT". That is a LIE. Ed does NOT care what quality leaves his shop. The pictures below prove that. I can understand sometimes a clear-coat wont cure correctly, but that shows up AFTER the fact. The guys at Community Auto Body don't care what the finished product looks like. The trim piece is CLEARLY short in these pictures (see below) AND it had to be put on BY HAND. When they MUST'VE seen it was CLEARLY short, they figured I wouldn't really care, or I just wouldn't notice it. I e-mailed pictures to Ed. And I heard the same words out of Ed's mouth, I had heard a hundred times before I dropped my car off, "We'll take care of it". So, I went back to show him in person and he told me that he'd get the new trim part re-ordered. I went back about a week later when he said the new part was in. He set it on the current trim piece, and it was still short. So when I got back home, I took a measuring tape and told him that it had to be a specific length. Never heard back from him again... I noticed this in mid-June, and now it's pretty much September. He hasn't returned any of my calls either. So take it from me, if you truly care about your car and the finished product, DO NOT GO TO COMMUNITY AUTO BODY. And I forgot to mention... He also broke 2 of 4 plastic brackets that keep my headlights secured in place, and then when they put them back, they did NOT replace them, instead they hid the broken ones underneath a panel, hoping I wouldn't notice. Well, the only reason I saw the broken brackets, is because before I dropped my car off, I took my expensive aftermarket headlights out, and put my faded/hazed/garbage stock headlights in. When I got my car back, I put the expensive ones back in, and naturally, discovered the HIDDEN, broken brackets. I wonder what would've happened if I didn't swap out the headlights. I wonder what condition those would be in... And when I called him out on it, he then claimed that his guys told me they were already broken. Now, if they were perfectly in-tact when I took them out, how is it that they were broken AFTER I dropped the car off. It took a little arguing before he gave me some attitude and said "Whatever, we'll take care of it, whatever you want. It's whatever you want". It was with a really sour and snotty attitude, which I found to be quite insulting. He replaced those, a value of MAYBE $5-$10... I keep remembering more and more as I write this letter... Last year I pulled the carpet out of my car because there was a leak coming from somewhere around the A-pillar on the driver side. After I dropped my car off, I guess Ed figured that since the carpet was out, he didn't have to vacuum all the dust out of my car. Dust COVERED my dashboard, and my seats, and my floor. I had to change my shirt and shorts when I got home, because I was covered in dust, then waste my time wiping everything down. I still find dust in places to this day. And I have some of the worst seasonal allergies too, and I wont go into how terrible MY OWN CAR made my allergies flare up. Still waiting for Ed to make it right. Guess he really doesn't care. I swore up and down, all day long that Community Auto Body was the best, and I will NEVER return, and I will make sure nobody else does either. IF YOU WANT POOR QUALITY, COMMUNITY AUTO BODY IS THE WAY TO GO. You can't start your day better than to be rear ended on the Eisenhower. Of course the other driver took off and police can't be bothered with such matters. But this place was outstanding. The car looks flawless, there is no way to tell there has even been a repair done. Not only did they perform the body work in a very professional manner, they did it on time, and for the same cost originally quoted. I hope to never need their services again, but I highly recommend Community Auto Body in Carol Stream highly. read more

Ed promised the world and didn't even deliver so much as a pebble. He promised ten days to fix. Had my car for just shy of two months, including me having to take the car back TWO TIMES after being told the car is finished and "a work of art". Give me a damn break. My experience was so terrible that my insurance knocked this guy off their preferred list because of my experience, AND they paid to have me take my car somewhere else to have Ed's mess cleaned up at their expense. First time I went to pick the car up from Ed, I noticed a foot long scratch on the front bumper. He fixed while I was there and I left. Then the next morning I noticed the headlights and fog lights weren't working. Would have been great if they actually plugged those things back to the connectors. Nope. Forgot. Brought it back for that, AND because he put a 13 year old power steering unit in my car that whined worse than kid does. After picking up the car for a third time and noticing whining STILL, car stalling out, hood and headlights misaligned, and leaking coming from under the car, I called my insurance for the tenth time about Ed, and they had me bring it to another collision shop that has actual current awards, certifications, etc on their walls. No 10 year old certifications here, unlike Ed, who seems to think that his past accomplishments mean something, even though his current work is shitty at best. I don't care if you need a dent pulled out of a jalopy. DONT BRING YOUR CAR TO ED. Shady business. Liar. Excuse maker. read more

Great place to bring your car for repairs even if it does not need body work. The owner, Ed Zuniga, belongs to the Carol Stream Chamber of Commerce where my wife met him and was impressed. Although I usually do most my auto repairs, I took my wife's advice and had him look at it. Ed looked at my car himself and gave me a fair quote immediately. The final price came under his quote and I got it fixed professionally for about as much as what it would have cost for materials - wow! My advice...call Ed for a quote and give them a try. If you need auto body work, come look at his shop too! He's very friendly so ask for a tour when you drop your car off for a quote! read more
