*I rate 1 star when my service was that terrible. I'm glad they fixed the dents on my hood but all that work goes out the window when you mess up my alignment. The mechanic at VW said my car was dropped the frame was bent which is why you could not align it. Instead of admitting to what you did instead you choose to blame it on another body shop who actually took photos of their work and emailed me a copy of their alignment specs that show my car was aligned when it left their shop. Nice try.. They had my car for 2.5 weeks. 2 weeks in they call me saying they won't release my vehicle to me due to the back wheel alignment, I was having my car repaired in the front so how did the back get messed up? No answers.. no photos.. they hand me a bs report from firestone saying my car passed the alignment test. I drove straight to a VW dealership and my car FAILED. I could have been seriously injured. I came in for what I thought was an estimate but Rob said he had time to do the PDR work now. I had a dent on the driver door that I saw every single time I went to open it. The facility is clean an near a train line, which is good. The actual PDR (dent-removal) work is actually very good; they have a good PDR man. The people who work at the shop, however, cannot drive manual transmission. Do not come here if your car is a manual. If you must, have a staff member demonstrate their ability to do so. My own vehicle had its shift linkage badly damaged when the vehicle was moved around by one of their staff members when it was in for hail repair. Upon picking up my vehicle, a porter stated "hard to put into reverse, huh?" I stated "I've never had an issue; the shifter is fine." I put the car in reverse gear, and it flew forward. The gearbox had become damaged as it was apparent a staff member had pushed-down too hard on the shifter and severed the reverse lock-out and linkage. Naturally, no one called me beforehad to say my car wasn't driveable, nor even told management that it was damaged. I showed management; of course I'd be accused of damaging my own "old" car. I had to enforce that there would have been no way of me being able to drive the car at all with an uncoupled shift linkage, and that only someone without any knowledge of driving a manual transmission could replicate such damage. Fortunately, management eventually agreed that the damage occurred under their watch, and had it towed to the VW dealer in Schaumburg. Who took almost 2 weeks to repair the car because I'm not a "customer," and the repair was being done on behalf of a shop and my clean, (now) hail dent-free classic VW got filthy sitting around for its "free" repair. The dealer management at one point even told me to call "the body shop for updates because you're not a customer" - sorry buddy, but it's my property in my name. Lesson learned: always ask a facility if they can operate a manual transmission before working on your standard car. Just merely stating it's a manual to the front desk isn't enough to prevent damage by incompetent staff. read more

I was so impressed with their professionalism and quality of work and told myself (and them) that should I ever need any work done to my truck, I was coming back here to have it done. Less than a month ago, my vehicle was damaged in a hit and run parking lot incident. I told my insurance company that I had a shop in mind for repairs and was not interested in their preferred shops. Total Collision responded quickly to a Yelp Quote request and answered a lot of my questions all the while providing a very reasonable quote. The price quoted was the same regardless if I went to them or they came to me. Took advantage of their mobility and had the work done while I was working. They called with a 30 minute heads up that they were on their way. They arrived on time and I gave them access to my car. Less than 20 minutes later the dent was no longer visible and the hood looks great. The technician was professional and allowed me to ask questions and watch. He was delicate with my car and didn't appear to "rush" to get the job done. The hood is made of aluminum and not as easy to work with as a steel would be. So happy I chose Total Collision! I had reached out to Total Collision and several other shops to get a quote for damage on my car door due to a car accident I was in. The owner, Ryan, was by far the most insightful and most eager to help! I brought my car the same day and Juan had looked it over. He was extremely kind and made it very evident that this shop put their customers first. Ryan even followed up a few days later to see if there was anything they could do to help. I reached out to Total Collision & PDR to enquire about a paintless dent repair on my passenger side rear door. Most companies I reached out to said the job couldn't be done using PDR, or quoted a number that "seemed" out of range, at least to my expectations. Total Collision & PDR came to my home (incredibly convenient) and said they could likely repair (and quoted fairly), but would need to have the car in the shop to facilitate the repair as the inside door panel would have to be removed, etc. Once bringing the car to the shop, after taking a closer look, it was clear that the job couldn't be completed using PDR. Given that most wouldn't even bother trying, this is a completely legitimate assessment, and as such, provided me a quote to conduct a traditional repair and/or combination of the two. I was getting ready to cringe upon asking the cost and was pleasantly surprised the by the quote provided and the incremental cost as compared to PDR only. Serge and his team did a fantastic job on my vehicle. The shop is spotless (which says a lot for a collision shop), well run, and highly recommended. I called in after a week and they had no clue who I was. Terrible business. Lost a client. And the young kid who does the estimates has no clue what he is doing.
