We are much happier with Comfort and Peace Hospice. The caregivers that came to our home from Cabrillo were great; however, we had two major issues with this company that made our life miserable: 1. They would show up whenever they felt like it and did not notify us if they needed to reschedule their visits. The bathers in particular were a real challenge! Although they were scheduled to come between 8:30-9:30am, several times they showed up at noon or later. No call, no notice. Of course, we bathed my dad ourselves as he needed to start his day fresh and clean. Also, there were times where they didn't show up at all and just expected my dad to be unwashed for a week! Terrible service! The only exception to this is Edgar...he was always punctual and gave excellent care. However, Jacqueline and the management team were worthless! Absolutely worthless! 2. The second problem we had was in receiving supplies. The company consistently failed to order supplies when requested. It usually took 3-5 telephone calls to get just the basic supplies. It was so bad that on two occasions we ordered disposable briefs from Amazon and paid for them privately because Cabrillo failed to deliver as promised. If you need hospice services you certainly don't need the added headache and frustration dealing with Cabrillo Hospital adds y to your plate...go elsewhere!

Forever Grateful to Healing Care Hospice for the Care They Gave My Dad…read more I don't even know where to begin in expressing the depth of my gratitude for Healing Care Hospice and their incredible team. When my dad's health began to decline and we were told it was time for hospice, my family was heartbroken and scared. We didn't know what to expect, and we wanted to make sure he would be surrounded by love, comfort, and dignity. From the very first moment Healing Care Hospice stepped in, we felt an enormous sense of peace. The nurses who cared for my dad were absolute angels. They treated him like he was their own family -- always gentle, patient, and respectful. They explained everything to us with compassion and honesty, making sure we understood what was happening every step of the way. It never felt rushed or routine; it felt deeply personal. Even during the hardest moments, their calm presence and kindness made such a difference. The aides and caregivers were just as amazing. They made sure my dad was clean, comfortable, and pain-free. They noticed the little things -- fixing his blanket, massaging his hands, talking softly to him when he couldn't respond -- small gestures that spoke volumes about their compassion. The social worker and chaplain also brought so much comfort, not just to my dad but to our entire family. They gave us emotional support, listened when we needed to talk, and helped us process everything we were feeling. It meant the world to have people who didn't just focus on medical care but truly cared for the human and spiritual side of what we were going through. One thing that stood out was the way the team communicated. They were always available -- day or night -- and made sure we never felt alone. Whether it was a question about medication, a sudden change in my dad's condition, or just needing reassurance, someone was always there to help with warmth and patience. When my dad passed, the hospice team was with us, guiding us gently through those final moments with compassion and respect. They handled everything with such grace, giving us space to say goodbye in peace. Even after, they checked in on us to see how we were doing, which meant so much. I can honestly say Healing Care Hospice helped my dad transition with comfort and dignity, and helped our family find peace in an incredibly painful time. They weren't just caregivers -- they became part of our family during those last weeks. To everyone at Healing Care Hospice: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made an unbearable time a little easier, and you gave my dad the care and love he deserved. We will never forget what you did for us. If anyone reading this is searching for hospice care for a loved one, I can say with complete confidence that Healing Care Hospice is the kind of team you want by your side. They bring heart, compassion, and genuine humanity to every moment.

After evaluating a few places in south Orange County, the family decided to move her into Aegis of Laguna Niguel. The property was very nice and clean, rooms a perfect size and the philosophy to focus on enrichment & stimulation via various activities aligned perfectly with what we were looking for in an assisted living home. To ease the transition from home the team invited my mom and step dad to numerous events around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every time mom entered the home she would smile as staff and residents would say "hi". Mom was set to move in early January but it became clear by mid-December we needed to move her in earlier, which Aegis quickly pivoted to helping make happen. One day after we had furnished her room in late December and one day before we moved in she fell at home and fractured her hip. Several days after her fall the family made the difficult decision to suspend all interventional treatment and begin end of life care. Mom was transported to Aegis of LN to her room and would spend the last days of her life there in hospice care. While the entire saga was very sad the family can't say enough of the ENTIRE (!!) team at Aegis of LN that helped us from beginning to end. They seamlessly pivoted from welcoming a new long term resident to one that would stay but a brief time. Their coordination with us, the hospital and hospice was simply amazing. Many thanks to Kurt and Marti for introducing us to the facility along with Ingrid, Andrew, Aileen, Jacqueline for their support and care...and everyone else that touched our lives in those last few days. We could see through these interactions that this is more than a job but a calling for all of you. If this is how you treat a loved one in your care for a week we can't imagine what you would have done for mom longer term. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I don't know how the owner (Joey) accomplished such a feat of finding an entire team with compassion, but I am thankful that he did. Update (April 2026)…read more Compassionate Care Hospice's response illustrates their unprofessionalism and willingness to provide dishonest information. Below are OFFICIAL findings directly from the FINAL report by the California Department of Public Health (Complaint Number 2641478), which indicated that Compassionate Care was being investigated based on multiple serious complaints within a short period of time -- yet it continues to misrepresent the findings by the Department of Public Health. If they spent as much time combating negative reviews by their customers and fabricating disinformation as they do on patient care, maybe they wouldn't have so many one-star reviews to begin with. "The initial plan of care, updated plans of care, initial assessment, comprehensive assessment, updated comprehensive assessments and clinical notes - This STANDARD is NOT MET as evidenced by: Based on record review and staff interviews, the hospice failed to ensure completion of clinical record to reflect the family member's concern regarding a change in the patient's condition. This failure created the potential for not having the patient's current condition to provide necessary care and services for the patients. " "Signed copies of the notice of patient rights in accordance with Section 418.52 and election statement in accordance with Section 418.24 - This STANDARD is NOT MET as evidenced by: Based on staff interview and record review, the hospice failed to ensure the written addendum showing diagnoses and non-covered items was completed with the actual date completed/provided to the patient/family member... This failure had the potential for not having an accurate information on the patient's clinical record." Read the above for yourself and see if you believe the official report found no deficiencies as asserted by Compassionate Care. There is a clear lack of ethics and humanity toward their patients. A simple phone call or email to the grieving family with an apology would have been a good start, and yet they are incapable of admitting their shortcomings and chose to fabricate results of the findings. I urge anyone considering Compassionate Care to contact the California Department of Public Health regarding the complaints and think hard about whether you would want this organization to care for your family member during their last moments.

The care quality was underwhelming to say the least. Agape poorly educated my family on what to expect during a most gut wrenching time. They set numerous expectations that were not met. Including and not limited to communication, follow up visits, warning signs and resolutions. The stand out interaction was when I sat with a nurse (who was new to the company) to field the many questions & concerns that I had. Through my inquiries, it seemed the Agape finally decided to act. I have zero experience in the medical field but through daily 20 hr shifts with my loved one I gained an immense amount of hands on experience. The Agape representative told me to my face that THEY DO NOT EXPECT US TO BE NURSES, just to be there to show love and care to my loved one. This was insulting and patronizing! Agape equipped us with a variety of medicines, dressings, equipment (including oxygen, a nebulizer, and suction device) though with no real direction on when & what to look for to use this mobile triage station. Mind you, I was not expected to be a nurse. The hypocrisy was palpable. I need to mention that we were never cautioned about bed sores. No mention of what they are, how they develop, what to look for and also, what to do about them. This was frustrating and infuriating. My belief is that people who are designated as 'end of life' should be treated, handled and loved the exact same way as when they enter this world. With such delicate care, close professional monitoring and a soft touch. Babies are not delivered in a hospital and set aside with instructions to the family to occasionally have a look to tell them that you love them. Agape missed the mark repeatedly and I can honestly say that I now have extensive experience with Hospice care, or lack there of. I will continue to share my story and educate those around me. Most of us will experience Hospice for a loved one and maybe ourselves. I will ensure to record detailed instructions in my own Advanced Health Care Directive along with additional personal wishes in my Will. This is to make it easier on my surviving loved ones who may be tasked with my care. This is responsible thing to do, for all parties. This is absolutely necessary because of companies like Agape Hospice and their lack of compassion, professionalism, accountability, execution and customer service. DO YOUR RESEARCH ABOUT HOSPICE. VET THE COMPANY. SEEK OUT REVIEWS. EDUCATE YOURSELF ON YOUR LOVED ONES SPECIFIC DISEASE OR CONDITION AND HOW TO CARE FOR AND INTERACT WITH THEM. YOU CANNOT COUNT & RELY ON AGAPE OR POTENTIALLY OTHER COMPANIES TO ADEQUATELY PREPARE YOU. ONCE YOU'RE IN IT, IT MAY BE TOO LATE. YOU WILL FEEL LOST AND HELPLESS, SO BE PROACTIVE.
