Unfortunately, it is a destination for work and the many hours I spend on post are work hours so the enjoyment factor is recuced quite a bit. However, I have had opportunity to take my camera around and capture some amazing photographs. The Grant statue, the chapel, and all the areas around the North side of post that most people on travel never see are simply beautiful. The streets are narrow and not much traffic by the airport area but there is much to see back there. The golf course is great too. We live on an emergency snow route, and once again, snow has fallen, requiring snow removal from…read moreour residence. The snow plow does clear the snow in front of all our neighbors' homes, but it turns onto a side street before our residence. I reached out to the municipal center, but unfortunately, they were closed on Monday due to inclement weather. The answering service advised us to contact the police dispatch since the plow trucks were out. I called on Sunday night and again on Monday at 7:00 a.m. and again at 12:00 p.m., still not resolved. It's disheartening that this issue continues to be overlooked.

The post office at Leaven worth resolved a problem to deliver a package to my daughter. I had…read moreaddressed the package to an address I had from the previous time she was stationed there. I had feared the package was lost. Mark expedited the search and kept in contact with me. Once I gave him the correct address, the package was delivered. All of the confusion my fault. Mark showed I credible patience and professionalism throughout the confusion. Many thanks to all who were involved in delivering the package to the correct address.

It is also the very first park in the entire state of Kansas (established in 1854). The park stretches four blocks along North Esplanade Street (between Ottawa St. and Seneca St). On the west side, you'll find a row of large (especially for the time) homes built prior to 1900. This is the street where the upper class of Leavenworth used to live back when it was called Main Street. The homes, yards, and park are remarkably well-maintained making this a favorite photo spot in Leavenworth. In the distance, you'll have a fantastic view Centennial Bridget connecting Leavenworth, KS with Platte County, MO. Whether you come for some memorable photos, a picnic, or to marvel at history, North Esplanade Park is a free and relaxing tourist excursion open 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Today was the first time that I took my children into the library to see what activities they…read moreoffered. I keep hearing about wiggle time and story time which sound like great programs. However, I will not be returning because while I was there only one employee seemed remotely friendly. The ladies who in the very back in what I believe in the teen section were not friendly at all. The one in the very first office in the back gave me dirty looks when our eyes met. Plus one of the patrons were giving my children dirty looks when we first walked into the building. I always thought the library was a place where everyone should be welcomed and that was not the feeling that I had while I was there.

Not the largest library by any means, but it definitely makes the most of what it has. He was helpful and courteous which can be difficult during this holiday season. The only reason this is a 4/5 star review is because unfortunately I had to have a supervisor help me because the packages weren't getting to me.

The employees seem nice enough - but this post office is poorly managed and consistently…read moreunderperforms. I moved to a temporary residence while my home was being repaired due to a fire. I was given three keys to a postal box and paid a deposit. I was informed that when I moved out, I would return the keys and get my deposit. Upon taking my keys to the post office - I was informed that they did not care what I did with the keys, and they would keep my deposit anyway. I also get mail from my neighbors about once every 8-10 weeks and have to take mail to them. No attention to detail.
