You can say the fruit and vegetables (what they have) look okay or fresh enough...but unfortunately when you get home and are ready to eat and prepare the produce, it's on the old side and not fresh at all. I've had to throw away certain produce because they weren't in good shape. The apples seem to look okay...but when ya get home and you bite into them, they're brown and mushy. Just a waste of money. I/We have purchased dairy products in the past such as eggs, milk and yogurt and have had to return the items because they were either old and/or spoiled. Perhaps they have a refrigeration problem or the thermostat is kept way too low?? Just no good. We've noticed that many items on the shelves are on the older side and are outdated. Ketchup, mustard, honey and cookies to name a few. The store did not seem to be very clean the last time I stopped in. The floors were sticky and the merchandise on the shelves were very dusty. I came in to return a gallon of milk which was spoiled and the cashier was very nasty and rude to me because I did not have a receipt...meanwhile she was the one who rang me up the day before. She gave me my money back...but gave me a very hard time for no reason. This is no way to treat customers and to run a business. No way!! Normally a person could just let this go...but this is not the first time. It's happened several times. The little one (cashier) in particular has a rotten attitude. I/We won't be going back to this store anymore. There are better markets and stores one can go to without these types of problems. Not worth it. Sorry......

They have a coffee station and a deli counter with cold cuts or where you can grab breakfast or a sandwich to go. In short, all of your standards and more, with a slight emphasis on Eastern Europe/Mediterranean fare--different for this neighborhood that tends to skew Irish, but not unwelcome. They are often the same if not cheaper than the regular stuff we find in our supermarkets. Really, I find this to be pretty incredible because organic food is usually so much more expensive, but not here. I went there today and picked up apples, plums, peaches, kale, red basil (smells AMAZING), eggplant, zucchini, cucumbers, tomato, beets and organic corn (I stressed organic because what we find in stores is mostly genetically modified corn) - my total was under $25. The market often has cooking demos and you can always find literature on food education, recipes, seasonality, recycling, etc. and the beautiful ladies that organize this truly do an amazing job and are very passionate about everything the market stands for. I went to the farmers market this week up in Kingsbridge since I missed the Saturday one in Inwood. When I arrived to the market I was...surprised. There's only one stand! When I think of a farmers market I imagine 10+ vendors selling a variety of locally sourced goods. The stand that was there only has fruits and veggies. I didn't think to ask at the time if there are more vendors during the spring/summer season. The individuals that were running this particular stand were warm and welcoming! At the market I picked up zucchini, squash, and a mini-bucket of brussel sprouts. My favorite part of this market was its affordability - those three items for $5.75?! Sign. Me. UP! The veggies were fresh and great in my dinner Sunday evening. At the end of the day I did have to run to Aldi to pick up items I was hoping to purchase at this market. But it won't stop me from coming back since the prices can't be beat, and I hope they can feature more vendors in the future!
