Pros: (+) Inexpensive (+) Fresh fish selection (+) Meat is affordable (+) They give you coupon rewards for every $50 that you spend Cons: (-) Not the friendliest service (-) Quality of the fruits have changed (-) STINKS! (-) Not all food is dated, so check before you buy it. (-) Fruits are not always the freshest ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Embrace yourself before walking in because you're going to end up getting hit in the face with the strongest pungent smell of "fish market"- so don't tell me that I didn't warn you. As often as I shop here (weekly) I still can't adapt to the smell and I'm actually very thankful for that - it's a constant reminder that my sense of smell is still intact. lol VEGETABLES & FRUITS: I initially came here for the fresh vegetables & fruits...but you have to come at the right time. If you come in mid week like Tuesday or Wednesday you're going to be left with the crappy left over wilting vegetables and fruits just hours within its expiration. I do have to say that their vegetables & fruits were always fresh everyday of the week and the workers were always on point on pruning any wilting lettuce leaves or discarding decaying fruit. But lately, the quality of the fruits have changed. I've noticed some fruits that were going bad with obvious markings - would still be there the next following week. I've come and seen the same bananas browning bananas. I don't know what happened with the quality...but I hope it improves. SEAFOOD: Fish is a constant turn around so you'll get fresh fish all the time and even request to have it cut to your liking and scaled. I love coming for the red snapper - it's so good!! MILK: The milk goes bad EXACTLY on the date that it says it's going to expire. Even a couple days before it says it's going to expire, it starts to smell a little on the funky side. So I try to finish it DAYS before expiration. DRY AISLE: I love the fact that you can find a lot of hard to find items. I always like to get the Coconut Cookies and ingredients to make some bomb ass bubble tea or Vietnamese Pho. Be sure to check the food you buy in the dry aisle. I have actually noticed expiration dates rubbed off and re-stamped with a new date. I haven't really had any problems though. But, if you are unsure, skip it. SHOPPING TIME: The best time to come is on Sunday. The bad side is you are fighting with the church goers that are all shopping at the same time after church, so come EARLY and beat that rush hour. The freshest delivery arrive on the weekend. If you shop on Monday, most of the good stuff is already gone, but you may be lucky to find a few here and there. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ultimately, I come here for the good prices and fresh veggies/fruits and seafood. Everything else, I shop somewhere else. The service is fast and okay. But don't expect any perky conversations with your cashier or even a pleasant "hello" - it's just straight to point...pay...and...leave. If you come frequently, don't forget your coupon rewards. They give rewards for every $50 that you spend. Spend $50, they give you a $2 coupon. Spend $100, they give you a $5 coupon for your next purchase. Also, on your way out...check out the "wall of shame" of all the people they caught stealing. lol

I really wanted a frozen goat head and some spices, but on Christmas eve, we had more pressing matters to take care of. Jumbo shrimp, cupcake wrappers, and a slew of other misc, stuff my gf and her siblings needed to pick up in a pinch. I observed countless seafood and farm animals I had never even seen or heard of before, it was a very interesting experience. Watch out for the cheese thief.

YAY! An Asian supermarket right smacked in the middle of the Bronx. No need to waste gas and toll to food shop in Queens. Chang Li has all kinds of Asian food products from Thai, Flilipino, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc. They also have a fish, meat, and fruit/veggie section. Just like any other Asian supermarket but in the BRONX! I also love their coupon system, $2 off ur next purchase for the $50 purchase u make.

    Very straight to the point.

Very random location for an asian grocery store, but easily accessible from Parkchester and Castle Hill subway stops. Happy to find pork belly with plenty of meat still attached, marrow bones for $1.25 per bag, thin sliced short ribs, and lots of dumplings. Seafood and meats are super fresh, with live crabs, lobster, and fish. Prices for seafood and produce are about half of what they're charging in Manhattan, even in Chinatown!! We'll be doing our grocery shopping here from now on.

Unexpected Chinese supermarket tucked away in the Bronx. Your standard, slightly grimy Chinese supermarket, although this one is a cute example of American multiculturalism in that it stocks a good and diverse variety of Hispanic, Indian, Filipino and other ethnic cooking ingredients/condiments. A good option for ethnic groceries if you're stuck in the Bronx, otherwise, I'm sticking with Chinatown or Flushing.

Real fish stores are rapidly disappearing. Long hours, heavy loads, good chance of an injury from spines, small profit margins; nowadays everyone wants a cushy job. Here's the reasons for 5 stars: it's clean, it has never smelled fishy when you walk in, the fishes eyes are clear (a sign of being really fresh), there's an exceptional selection of fish, shellfish, and crustaceans, they'll clean the fish to your request, if you ask, on a hot summer day, to double bag the fish with ice in the outer bag it's gladly done for you. They know their products. There's lemons, sauces, and vegetables. They can create a cooked meal for you; pick out what you want. They do the rest. You know it has to be great if it's always crowded. Two people behind the cleaning stand and a few others helping customers. The prices are reasonable. They take cash, credit cards, and EBT.
