We stopped by this grocery store to pick up some foods and snacks on our way from Calgary to Banff for multi-day hikes. They had a good variety of organic fruit, yogurts, health bars, and even some interesting packaged meals. My favorite items were their locally sourced items, such as the Cosmic Power oatmeal-nuts-and-seeds cookies available in their deli and Hardbite potato chips in the snacks aisle. The honey Dijon flavor of potato chips was very good, and so was the Black Truffle Sea Salt flavor. I also grabbed a shrimp katsu sandwich and a BBQ pork sandwich. The shrimp katsu sandwich had a good amount of veggies, but a tad too much mayonnaise. The BBQ pork sandwich had good BBQ pork filling, but the bun was kind of bland. Both sandwiches were pretty gourmet for a hiking trip though. For small meals, we grabbed a tandoori cauliflower bowl and a chicken shawarma bowl -- both had great flavors. Awesome. I was meeting someone at Hudson's next door and although the overflow parking is crazy from the bar , I still give it a 5 star rating. There was a security guard on site in the lot to make sure you shopped at the store and not going elsewhere. This was a surprise quick visit for me actually as I did not even know it was here. Close to home = bonus. I needed a few things and I found all I wanted and then some. The bulk area is clean and there was a wide selection of beans, rice, flour, sugar, salts etc. Nice fruit, big avocados, beautiful veg. I honestly got a really nice bag of little things for under $10. There is also soap and other things for face and body. I ran out of time to look at all the neat stuff. The store is large, the aisles are well marked and check-out was fast and easy. I felt healthier just being in the store. I will be here a lot! read more

We have noticed that since the Calgary Coop purchased Community Natural Foods at Crowfoot NW Calgary, the quality of their food has declined somewhat. We always went to CNF for good quality food. Today we went for some large bulbs of garlic. Over recent months, the bulbs have gotten so small you simply cannot cook with them. Today, they had what looked like black mouldy bulbs in small plastic bags. Other items are not as fresh looking as they used to be. So we left without buying anything. Next stop will be Blush Lane Mall. read more

Community Natural Foods has been my source for organic produce for 6 years. I will not be shopping there anymore because the last time I was there I saw signs that prohibited entry without masks. I asked and it was confirmed that people with disabilities who can not wear masks are forced to wait outside like a second class citizen. This store is owned by Corporate Giant Calgary Coop. Alberta has mask exemptions to help people with disabilities and no business should offer less service to people with disabilities. I will not shop here while they discriminate against vulnerable people in my community. Maybe when I am old and someone is harming me, a good person will write a review to help me. We should not harm others in the name of profit, fake news or other motivation. read more

Community Natural Foods recently opened a new health food store in Crowfoot. While the facade is a little too reminiscent of the Denny's next door, the interior of the store is by far the local chain's best- well-lit, well-marked, organized spacious aisles. They stock a solid selection of organic foods, including lots of great produce, a wide assortment of cheeses (local buffalo mozzarella!), many bulk foods, reasonably-priced mass market health foods, organic dairy, and a refrigerator full of fresh grab-and-go meals (I'm sure there's meat too but I don't eat it so I didn't bother looking). They also carry lots of supplements and natural personal care products. Most prices were on par or a little bit cheaper than at nearby Amaranth, probably due to CNF's increased buying power. I found staff at the cash register to be friendly and polite, while I didn't notice many (any?) employees circulating the rest of the store. If you did have a question, however, there is a customer service desk at the front of the store. I recommend approaching the store by driving along John Laurie, turning left at the set of lights AFTER the YMCA and then turning right onto Crowfoot Crescent. With CNF and a new Hudson's sharing a parking lot this place can be busy, and coming from the other direction can have you waiting to turn left in the parking lot for ages (in fact, there was a parking attendant on site today to deal with the huge new influx of cars). Or, of course, save a tree and walk! read more

I was SOOOO excited to see the CNF's sunflower installed on the newly green old sounds around building in crowfoot. I love the other stores but it's so far away so I almost never made it in. I love them as a store for selection and as a corporate entity for their commitment to the community and many other things. I was even more excited to see it opened really quickly - I drove by looking for a opening date and saw that it was open already... happy surprise for sure. I stopped in and got some things. The most exciting thing to me was the cafe they will be installing (love the one downtown) but it's not currently open for business just yet. When I eat the the other CNF cafes I always feel good about what I consumed both from a flavor and health perspective. Overall it's well laid out and offers what I come to expect from CNF (love the bulk section). I'll be interesting to see how competition in the NW for natural products goes now that CNF has moved in ... I'm hoping we end up with more variety over store closings but that remains to be seen. A few months ago I was considering moving and changing neighborhood... but with all the exciting store openings as of late that plan just go so much harder. read more

I have been to this new store a couple of times. The first time was to check it out after it opened. One time I came in looking for sweet almond oil which I purchased. They had a decent selection of natural beauty products. However, they don't carry some of my favorite lip balms. They actually could expand their lip balm selection. My last visit I came in looking for this neti wash plus stuff you add to your neti pot. I found it in the US. They didn't carry it or anything like it. The sales clerk told me they could possibly special order it. A week later, they called to say that they couldn't order it in and had no other similar items. The one thing that was evident about the beauty products is the high prices, in comparison to the price I've paid in the US. Stuff I paid $8 down south is $12 up here. I briefly checked out the rest of the store. They have an ok selection of food. It's not a huge store but carries a little bit of everything. read more

I didn't even realize CNF was opening in the Northwest until the week it happened. Such a lovely surprise! I visited the other day. It was strange at first. I know the other two shops like the back of my hand as I have been going there since I was a young vegetarian. The location seems pretty large, the aisles a little more spacious. The other two locations have this vibrancy I love about CNF, that this one seems to be missing, but I'll give it time. It just seemed, a little hollower. Maybe it's just me. I would love to go when the cafe is open sometime as it seems they have quite a bit of space, and whenever I try to eat at the downtown Community Cafe, it is always crazy busy and one is hardpressed to find a seat. The refrigerated section with tofu and stuff is well stocked, and everything is easy to find. Just still getting used to it. One thing, is that I showed up about ten minutes after their opening time and the OPEN sign wasn't on, which kind of led to questioning of whether I should be THAT GUY who shows up when staff are still trying to wake up and get organized. Luckily someone else beat me to it and I meekly followed. Glad to have a new location. read more

I really enjoyed shopping here, though the prices for organic food are steeper than it is in Seattle area. Thankfully, all the ingredients I needed for dinner were on sale. Their"bring home and cook" lasagna was really good and surprisingly filling so don't judge the size of the container it comes in. The awesome part was the customer service. My son accidentally dropped a container of blueberries we had just purchased and the cashier told us we could get a new container. Now that's great service! So glad they opened in the NW. Love the location and size of this store. Great selection on products and always find what I needed at that time. I find the staff is hit and miss. When I need something, I can't find anyone. When I don't need assistance, someone is always there. Ironic. The best part, staff is always friendly. Ample parking. Great selection. Comparable pricing. Stopped in yesterday to grab an aver necklace and some mum mum crackers for my daughter abs I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of this store! My husband and baby were waiting in the car so I only got to browse quickly but I was able to grab a healthy lunch for the both of us at their salad/meal bar. I also found, what my husband calls back home, a Korean burrito or "Kim bap" is what they called it. He LOVED it! We also ate some grilled panini sandwiches and some tasty spinach salad. Overall great experience! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the cashiers opened up two new cash lines very quickly when there was more of us in line. Thanks again! So I made an account due to this error. I feel it's a (insert bad word here) situation that needs a bit of attention. I just watched a paramedic get declined his discount because he's not In full uniform (took his uniform shirt off after his shift). Pants and boots don't count I guess. I over heard him say he had a rough day prior to paying the bill and the supervisor, manager whom ever was really sweet to him! He even asked if he was able to get a discount and then took it away from the till lady! Medic was with his gal too and she got pretty pissed. I didn't hear the exchange of words as I headed out but the smile on (Aaron? Girl supervisor?) was brutal. It appears even shitty service is done with a smile. Give our heroes some love... Two stars because I love eating here and it's near my work.... read more

Large selection of gluten free items. But super overpriced for the majority of their goods. The deodorant my husband uses is at London Drugs for $6 here they sell it for $12! However if you buy a large quantity of vitamins you do get a discount. read more

The cashier was friendly and this lady who helped my mom find some vitamin pills was fantastic. I was able to find everything I needed. The store wasn't organized too well and the things I bought were a bit overpriced and had a bit too much packaging. I will definitely come back, but it just might be for refills. read more

Most products are priced 10-50% higher than local grocery stores. I find it infuriating to find the same product I would normally get at the Superstore for a significantly higher price. When I mentioned it to a staff member, they actually agreed that their prices were often higher. I will only shop here for the occasional item that can't be found elsewhere. In economics class we learned about the Law of Diminishing Returns - if you raise your prices too high, the demand drops. In order to sell FRESH organic produce, it needs to be sold quickly and at those prices it is going to sit around a lot longer. A natural food store should be serving everyone rather than catering to the rich. read more

On December 4 2013 I was washing my hands in the bathroom at Crowfoot Community Natural Foods. A staff member came barging in and the door slammed on my left elbow. I reported the incident immediately and community natural foods filled out a report. They bought me lunch and later gave me a $50.00 gift certificate. I went to my doctor and was diagnosed with tennis elbow. My left elbow is still really hurting. Their insurance company Intact Insurance, specifically Pam Elderkin is refusing to pay for treatments or compensate me in any way because Community Natural Foods say they had the door tested and that the door was okay. I know I locked the door. I have been a very good customer at Community Natural Foods for over 40 years and now they have banned me from the store. I have known a staff member who has worked there many years who told me that the Community Natural Foods Administration is horrible and very uncaring. I have found this to be very true. One day the staff member I have known for years said it should be okay for me to pick up a few things so as I was picking out some garlic a staff member came up to me and told me to leave or they would call the police and charge me with trespassing so I left in tears. Many years ago I was at Community Natural Foods in their downtown location and I was eating Community Natural Foods pre-made tabbouleh salad and there was a stone in it and I had to go to the dentist and I gave Community Natural Foods the dentist report and the tabbouleh with the stone in it. They refused to compensate me in any way and the tabbouleh with the stone in it disappeared. I reported the latest incident to the better business bureau and they did nothing to help me after telling me to write them. So I wrote to them and then they told me they do not deal with such matters. I cannot afford a lawyer and legal aid and Calgary Legal Guidance and U of C law students all do not deal with personal injury issues. On December 4, 2015 the 2 year limit time period is up for filing a lawsuit and Community Natural Foods will get away with seriously hurting my left elbow and that will make them very happy. Do not ever get hurt at Community Natural Foods as they are a company of zero integrity and honor. Tim Warman is the store manager of the crowfoot location and he did not care that I got seriously hurt or that I got banned from all Community Natural Stores because I wanted them to pay for treatments and be compensated for pain and suffering. We stopped in the Crowfoot store to look around and found the customer service there lacking in actual customer service. One employee was walking around the store with samples of something - I have no idea what - as she walked past us twice without an offer to try it. At the checkout, the young lady at the register obviously did not have her listening ears on at the time we paid for our purchases. I said yes when she asked if I wanted a receipt, but did not provide one. When I asked for it, the cashier on the other side printed one for me. Did we not look like the "right" kind of customers for that store? Such a shame as the Chinook Station Market is totally the opposite. read more
