One thing I really appreciate, especially during Chicago winters, is the skyway bridge from the parking garage directly to the convention center. Not having to walk outside in the cold makes a big difference. The location is great too. It's very easy to navigate, close to a lot of good food options, and right near the entertainment district and the outlet shopping. There's usually plenty to do before or after an event. They host a wide variety of events here. I recently went for the World of Wheels show, and parking in the garage was $20 that day. I'm not sure if it varies by event, but it at least gives you an idea of the price. Overall, it's a well located and convenient convention center that works well for both vendors and attendees.

I don't really know what a gose is but, damn, was that good! I've had Krankshaft before so I knew what I was getting myself in to. We ended up ordering a second round of the same beers and let each other sample the other's beer a little more liberally this time. While we were kind of hungry, nothing on the menu really struck our fancy, especially considering they might've been out of it. Room service took care of those hunger pangs later after a few more beers in the hotel bar. Online reviews for this place seemed hit and miss but I really enjoyed my time there and really enjoyed the artwork on the walls and the vibe of the place. We did contemplate buying some bar signs on our way out but declined as we don't know what we would exactly do with them. It sucks to see a small business close but they did say they may try to open up a new place in a new location in the future.

They had to completely take apart my electric bike in order to install the new rotor. It took them about a week, about a half week of that was getting the rotor delivered. Great guys, very knowledgeable and friendly, a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Cole waved the charge for changing the rotor in my back wheel because they missed it the first time I came over to pick my baby up, after a few miles it had started making that worrying noise again. Definitely quality of service and they stand behind their work. Highly recommend!!

Built in 1975, this memorial honors the men and women of Des Plaines who have served our country in…read morethe armed forces from the Civil War to the present day. This was a collaborative effort by the city, local VFW and local American Legion Post. The pavilion hosts numerous events including the annual Memorial Day services, the Live at the Lake summer entertainment series, Concert Band performances, the summer Movies in the Park and the annual Fall Fest. They were selling Christmas tress while I was there. The restroom facilities are also co-located here. The Pavilion is well maintained and consist of a bandshell and a walk way that has a plaque detailing every war from the Civil War to the Afghanistan War. Inside the bandshell you will find plaques with the name of the Des Plaines veteran that lost their life and which war it occurred. The center of the bandshell has the seal of all 5 of the US armed forces. There is a flag pole and a brick walkway leading from the bandshell and ends in a small circle. Because the pavilion provides somewhat protection from the elements, homeless people seek refuge here. This is a small, but fitting tribute to the honorable veterans that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

During class the kids play indoors at the various stations they have set up for about half an hour, then have a story, and then we wander through the forest preserve to see what we see. This first time we saw geese which she was interested in, and then we wandered through some of the rest of the park. When we went to the building with the animals and my baby got to see a whole bunch wildlife. There were turtles, a bunny, a couple ferrets, some gerbils, a prairie dog... and she even got to touch a snake, which I hope she enjoyed because she's never getting one.

One…read moreis a pool with a couple water slides, and there's another large pool that's much more calm. Then there's the wading pool, which is nice. I didn't realize at first which was the wading pool and I thought that the pool with the slides was it--I was wrong. The wading pool is between the other two, and is enclosed separately from the others. It's a significantly larger wading pool than at South Park, and with more features--there's a slide here too, but also a couple other water play structures. One of the parents of my child's classmate said that the pool sometimes reaches capacity, so it's good that they don't just let as many people in as will pay. It can be difficult to find a place to sit--the chairs can go quickly, so I wandered around a bit until a seat became available. There's a concession stand here, as well as some bathrooms and a family changing area. There appeared to be some showers as well, which the splash pad and wading pool in town doesn't have. I don't like that every hour they make people under age 18 get out of the pool for 10-15 minutes, regardless of that apparently being an industry standard practice. My daughter doesn't like it either--she was very very upset about having to leave the pool a couple times whilst we were here. And one of the lifeguards didn't even seem to know what they were doing; when we heard that announcement, most of the folks got out of the splash pad but there were still a few in it and so I asked the lifeguard thinking it may have been just for the large pool and she said "yeah, I think it's for this one too". We will be back, I'm sure. Our pool pass gives us a marginally earlier entrance time than the general public (fifteen minutes or so) so maybe we'll take advantage of that, or of their longer hours since they're open until 8 most days. Truth be told, I like the other splash pad and wading pool better. This one may grow on me, and assuming we're still here in the coming years as my daughter ages out of the splash pads I'll have to come here because this is the "fun pool". But I prefer the vibe at the (much less crowded) other pools.

Giorgio's photos are literally award-winning, and Wedding Creativo's work is unique, funky, and beautiful. Giorgio is a true artist, and is clearly passionate about what he does. She went WAY above and beyond the call of duty - whenever I emailed her with a question, she would reply promptly, with thoughtful and well-researched responses. Because she was so knowledgeable and helpful, we ended up corresponding fairly regularly, and she really provided some excellent advice and insight. I am so grateful to her for all of her help - she was really amazing! Even though we haven't seen our pictures yet, I am beyond thrilled with all of the work and effort that she put into our big day!! We took our portraits hours before our ceremony so we got to hang out with Sarah and Giorgio for a bit before our wedding, and it was so much fun. They really put us at ease, and I was so much more comfortable and relaxed before the ceremony. We also added on a Polaroid package to our reception, and this retro touch was a big hit. We considered lots of different options (i.e. photo booths, flip books) for the reception, and not only was the Polaroid station the most affordable, but we also got to keep one of the cameras! If you are looking for a unique reception activity Polaroids are a great option, and if you want beautiful photos and amazing service, Giorgio and Sarah are the absolute best!!!

When my husband and I deiced to do a destination wedding in Montreal Canada, the thing we were most…read morenervous about logistically was who was going to be our photographer. I know some people worry most about the food or the flowers but for us photo was Queen. My husband is a cinematographer, and I'm a makeup artist who works in print and video industry. So as you might imagine we are a little picky about images. Right away we knew what we did and didn't want. We also realized it was going to be hard to find someone who could shoot our wedding the way we envisioned. The two styles of wedding photography we kept running into was photojournalist style and cheesy contrived poses. Besides hating both styles it didn't really go with the look of our wedding, 1940's film noir. We wanted glamour, sophistication and a little bit of camp. We needed someone who actually knew who to take photos. Luckily I had worked with Kristyna Archer a number of times on photo shoots. I knew how amazingly talented a photographer she was and she was easy going and fun to work with. We were thrilled when we found out besides shooting for magazines she also shoot weddings. She understood what we were after and didn't try and talk us into doing some check list of cookie-cutter-photos. It was so important to us to have Kristyna shoot our wedding that we brought her all the way to Montreal with us. She was the hardest working person the day of our wedding. Running around making sure we got all our crazy photos. Our wedding photos are beautiful and look more like something you would find in a magazine then an average wedding. If you want photos that are as unique as you, then you need to hire Kristyna. Because of her background in fashion and adverting photography you can rest assured she knows how to compose and light. She's not a hobbyists playing at photography. She is a talented passionate professional who will give you the best damn wedding photos ever!

Veronica was recommended to my husband and me by one of her photographer colleagues Sarah Postma who did our (candid!) proposal photos last year. In search of a wedding photographer, we met with Veronica last spring, and I felt an instant connection with her, her photography philosophy, and personality. It was one of those deep down feelings where you just know that it'll be a great match, and it was lacking in our other vendor interviews. Hinojosa's photography packages were slightly more expensive than others, but you get what you pay for! And who wants to cut back on the vendor who'll be capturing your memories to last a lifetime?! Included in our package was an engagement photo shoot. Though my husband debated whether he wanted to do one or not, we both agreed it would allow for that "soft" behind-the-scenes benefit of interaction time with Veronica and her camera. We could experience how formal and candid takes would feel, and Veronica could also get a sense for our style and how I interact with my then-fiance. She was flexible with the date and time we set up the engagement shoot last June, and we had a ball during the 1.5 hour session at a local park and then at our crossfit gym! On the wedding day last October, things went smoothly. Veronica managed photo taking time efficiently, and I felt like we communicated well between doing formal family portraits and getting those candid, artsy shots in too. I also appreciated the pre-wedding questionnaire she had us fill out prior to the big day, asking questions like whether there were specific photos we wanted (and/or with specific family members) and a general timeline of the day. I especially love the artistic shots Veronica was able to get, with say my husband and me in focus in the picture, but with that cool, blurred effect on the bridal party next to us. Ok, the picture looks much cooler than the words I just used to describe it (see uploaded photo). Veronica did a wonderful job of capturing all the little nuances from our day too, like creative angles from the cake cutting (getting a shot from behind and in between us) and first look and working the natural landscape of the lake and changing fall colors into the background of our outdoor time. And how about that idea to get on top of a picnic table for some glamour shots? We received e-files of all the photos Veronica and her partner in crime photographer Marisol took from the wedding (and engagement photo shoot), either on a thumb drive or CD in a very polished and customized case! Couldn't have been happier with the Italian made wedding book we ordered. Veronica made the first draft and estimated we'd see an initial copy 3-4 weeks after our wedding. Though we didn't receive it until after the holidays, which was understandable with everything going on, we appreciated being able to substitute specific photos we wanted in the final product, which we received about 6 months after the wedding. Both sets of our parents thoroughly enjoyed the copies they received. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and our story is forever captured in all the vibrant colors of last fall, our family and friends' smiles, and each moment of that special day last October, thanks to Hinojosa Photography!

Good to know that this Glencoe park has a sledding hill, so Nola and I will be ready for snow! There's also a tree with a swing suspended by a rope attached to a wooden seat. My daughter wanted that swing all by herself if could! This park also has a 9 hole golf course, soccer field, 2 tennis courts, and a ball field. Not to be confused with Watts Center which is across tje street. Across the street is the Watts Center that has 2 ice rinks, 2 basketball courts, and a toy lot near South school. There's no concession stand, so bring your own food! There's lockers to hold your belongings as well.

We found out on a Wednesday and we decided that we would get married that Saturday so he could be there. I called Sharon on Wednesday and explained the situation. She dropped everything and made sure to make it to our wedding. She shot our whole wedding and it was gorgeous! Even though I do not want kids for a few years, I cannot wait for Sharon to photograph them. She is talented, versatile and has an amazing personality. You cannot go wrong with Ponti Photo!

She photographed our wedding - August 2013- and did a beautiful job. She has a true photojournalist- artsy style that cannot be matched. Some try hard and do OK, buy Sharon is a natural at getting the most interesting unexpected points of view :) We loved all of our photos! We didn't give her a shoot list and just told her to go with the flow, and she directed everyone so gracefully and captured all the wedding moments we could've wanted. She was professional ( turned in photos earlier than expected) , friendly ( even when I texted her the night before at 1am) , energetic ( she hiked a field with us to get the perfect first-look shots) and on-time ( sooo important) . All you could ask for in a Photographer :) I can't wait to work with her again, when we start a family...
