The holes themselves are visually appealing and everything is in good condition. Pace is an issue, but only on a relative basis, as I finished in 2:10 despite 3 lengthy delays from holes 5-9. There were 2-3 groups waiting, so it's probably possible to finish in 1:30 or less. Bathrooms in the clubhouse and between holes 4-5 are very clean and have requisite items like soap, hand dryers, etc. The beverage cart came around once, which is fine for 9 holes, as you also end up near the clubhouse regularly. Nearly every hole had a ball washer and they were all topped up and had towels. I didn't try the restaurant but it looks like an excellent place to watch a game and likely has the standard pub fare. Overall, it's a good spot to walk a quick 9 that's not too far from downtown and is a high quality option vs other city run courses.

Luckily it did not go through an open window where my husband sat. Left a deep ding on hood. Called course and was told that they were not responsible to call the cops. Rude. The weather is nice today. There is no protection from the golf course and street where bikers , walkers etc are too. No brush because it is February that might slow it down. It is irresponsible for the golf course to be open if they do not protect the street from stray golf balls. Should not be open in winter. Be careful. I hope no one was hurt after the ball continued to bounce onto moving traffic on Golf. Very shook up.

We've now had 2 very negative encounters with this employee's tone and complete misjudgment. We are experienced players (my husband was a pro for many years) and Tom has belittled and discouraged us from playing twice. The starter also seemed to be well aware of his attitude problem when we left the clubhouse completely baffled. Management- my recommendation is that you encourage your employees to treat guests with respect and kindness. Tom seems keen on judging players by their sex or anticipated skill level, coupled with a superiority complex, and it's a disgrace to the game of golf.

At least when I played there was nobody enforcing pace of play, so we were well on track for a five + hour round of golf while the group in front of us was busy plumb bobbing its putts for quadruple bogey ... with an entire hole open in front of them. Could be a lovely round with a little bit of gentle guidance from rangers to keep pace, and some regular reminders to adhere to some of the basic courtesies like raking bunkers, replacing divots, and repairing ball marks (none of which seemed to be being done on a particularly regular basis...).

Unfortunately, play was significantly…read moreimpacted due to active maintenance on the greens--specifically punching and sanding--during our round. On top of that, the course was cart path only, even though conditions didn't appear wet enough to justify that restriction. A 90-degree rule could have been a more reasonable option. As a result, several players were unable to finish due to the physical strain of walking, especially for those with health issues. Most notably, a man who works as a starter and is still recovering from an illness had to quit mid-round and was understandably frustrated. Do you have any suggestions on how we can better coordinate with Glenview Park staff moving forward? It doesn't feel like our concerns are being acknowledged, and it's affecting participation and enjoyment. Thanks for your time,

In high school, after…read morecaddying at a country club in Northfield, I moved here because the money and culture were better. I worked the bag drop and cart barn while also caddying, which meant long days moving between clubs, carts, and loops around the course. The experience was awesome, and I genuinely liked the people I worked with. Years later, I still think The Glen Club offers one of the best return-on-effort golf experiences in the Chicago suburbs, although I am now a bit removed from the local golf scene. The Tom Fazio course is beautiful, well-maintained, and challenging enough to stay interesting while remaining playable for an ordinary golfer. You can walk with a caddie or take a cart, and both experiences are great. It feels removed from the city even though it is easy to reach from Chicago and close to the major highways. Beyond the course, the entire property works unusually well and is great for events too. Since I left the area, family members have stayed in the guest rooms, and we also held a baby shower here. The driving range is spacious, the food is good, and the staff is friendly and helpful without making the place feel stiff. The terrace overlooking the 18th green is an excellent spot for food and drinks, while the surrounding Glen has plenty of restaurants and bars for before or after a round. Today, the clubhouse still feels sophisticated and has aged remarkably well since I watched the property take shape while living nearby. I have also attended professional tournaments here, and it is a great place to watch golf because the course, terrace, and clubhouse connect so naturally. The Glen Club has the quality of a private country club, the accessibility of a resort course, and more polish than a typical public facility. I play whenever I am home and can make it work, and I highly recommend this place.

At that point we decided to play best-ball scramble style. And realized that there were solo players behind us in carts. We let them play through and didn't see a single person until the final hole. During the time when there was nobody in front of us or behind us we were approached 3 more times by the marshal telling us that "people were calling the clubhouse and we needed to speed up." We then couldn't even tee off of another hole because one of the residents decided to have a prom party on the tee box and had hundreds of high schoolers take pictures on the tee box. Until the service gets better I cannot recommend this course. You would be better off playing at just about any other north side course or even a true muni. At greens prices over $200, it just doesn't make sense to have service like this.
