We've been going there for a while, and every single time I make an appointment, we end up waiting 20+ minutes each time after checking in. I get it, sometimes the office is full and they are running behind, not a big Issue. But today we were running behind and ending up being 10mins late for an appointment. When I went to check in, they turned us away. We never received an appointment reminder or a courtesy call, and said we needed to reschedule weeks into the future. Ive never seen the office that empty before so the fact they couldn't fit us in, after running 10 minutes behind surprised me. After going there for years, the reality is they'll make you wait an hour in the lobby before seeing you (if they are running behind), but if you're 10 minutes late, they don't have any grace and you and your pet are out of luck. read more

I am an over the road truck driver. I only see home about 2x a year. 6 months ago, my little dog had an ear infection. I saw Dr Wilson using the urgent call appt. He was absolutely wonderful with my little dog! Now my dog once again has an ear infection and was not well. On the road, I was not able to get any vet to see her, as we were not an established patient. We finally got back home and made another urgent care appt. She was seen by Dr Ostrander this time. He was ok at first. He checked her ears and walked out of the room. I believed he was coming back. I still had a couple questions. The aid returned with meds, so I asked if the Dr was coming back in. I wanted him to listen to her heart as she is an old dog, overweigh & coughs. I was concerned she may have congestive heart failure starting. He came back in at my request and scolded me for asking him to listen to her heart. He said I was only there for her ears and I should not be asking to listen to her heart, as he was too busy. He was done with her. He stated that I did not come there regularly and only for urgent care and it did not warrant his time. I explained I was on the road and seldom home. I try for appts when I am around but they are booked out, so urgent care was my only option. He was very rude. Listened to her heart quickly, said it was fine with an attitude and walked out. Paying $105 for urgent care is not something I want to do, but it is my only option to care for my dog. I do not expect to be treated like crap when asking to be seen. I would not recommend Dr Ostrander at all. Dr. Wilson is great. read more

The front end staff (Receptionists) are repeatedly rude and condescending, their treatment towards me has been horrible, and appalling. How they have their job is beyond me. She has refused to add both my husband and I as owners in our dogs files, she refuses to add both of our phone numbers in our files, she claims "the system won't allow it" -- yet, all previous Vet Clinics our dogs have been to, they have added both of us as owners and they have added both of our phones numbers with no problem. She has mistreated me as the female, but yet treats my husband like he's gold - so her and her colleagues up front are extremely sexist. You can be polite and friendly, they are still rude, condescending, and sexist. They rarely, if never pick up the phones, automatically send your phone calls to voicemail, they never return voicemails. We have called in advance to have medications filled for our dog who has arthritis, they have not returned our voicemails or phone calls, causing our dog to suffer in pain, causing her leg to shake, causing her mobility to suffer, causing her quality of life to suffer - and the front line staff, the Vets, they all know she has arthritis - they are making her wait well over 1 week to get her medication refilled, and it still isn't refilled - this is heinous treatment, unacceptable - it's cruelty. And I've worked in the profession of helping, rehabilitating, and protecting animals before - this type of behavior is not professional by any means. DO NOT bring your fur babies here. Bring them elsewhere - find a BETTER CLINIC. The Vets may have shown care, but at the end of the day, they do nothing to intervene, they do nothing to change this behavior, this unethical treatment, these unethical business practices - they do nothing to refill medications the same day or within 24 hour days for dogs like mine who need them filled that quickly and depend on them to be filled quickly. They have no clear oversight over their staff - and being over worked or being tired is no excuse. If you have a bad experience, REPORT THEM. Write an honest review. Do not stay and accept it. Double check your bills, they will add things to your bill without you knowing - they will add things to your bill that you told them you did not want and that you didn't agree to - so double check before you walk out. So do not come here. Heed warning to those who write the 1 star reviews, they are not lying, they are not creating drama, they are telling the honest truth - remember that. read more

I was looking for a new vet and this place is right down the road from me. When I called, the Receptionist was rude, patronizing and disrespectful. She had me so upset by the end of the call that I told her that I will look elsewhere for my pet's care. She abruptly said "fine!!" Then hung up on me. I was friendly throughout the conversation of trying to set up appointments but I felt that I was a total bother to her. When a business hires rude staffers, I tend to stay away. I feel the vets here care, but they are overworked and under staffed. The vet didn't read my dog's records from the previous vet. It was difficult to get an appointment. You felt like you were on a conveyor belt. I switched to Heritage Vet in Cooperstown. I love it there. They are caring and compassionate. They take the time to talk to you. The staff makes you feel like you are part of their family. I am very glad I switched. read more

I needed to find a local vet for my pup. I live between two different areas and when I have her, I want to make sure there's a good place to go. I came here on a recommendation of a coworker when my dog wouldn't stop excessively scooting around the floor. It's pretty easy to find, it shares a parking lot with another building. There is a spacious waiting room with two reception desks to check in and out. It didn't take long for me to see the vet, I really wish I could remember his name... Dr. Leahy? Maybe? It was a male vet and another student vet working towards his vet dreams. They were both extremely nice and the vet was super helpful on questions I had about my pups allergies. He gave me medicine that will help and gave me some tips on getting over the counter allergy medicine for her. He printed some reading materials that I could reference later for food or regular allergies. I like the way they have the phone system set up for medication. I called and left a message about needing more and changing the original dosage since she gets it once a day and not the original twice a day for 7 and the automated machine called to tell me to pick it up. I have been to other places where you never know what's going on. I really like the staff, they are very helpful and seem to genuinely care about you and your animals. Very spacious, bright, and clean inside, which can be difficult with so many animals coming through. read more

Community Veterinary Center - Veterinarians Near Me - Oneonta, New York

We've been going to CVC for 3 years. Initially, my experiences were very good. However, as time went on, they became quite busy, and it became increasingly difficult to get appointments. Interactions with techs and vets became increasingly harried and of late, every time I went, I felt we were imposing on them by simply being there. Today was the last straw for me: the vet tech took my young GSD back to draw blood, and something happened that caused my GSD to become extremely distraught. By the time the tech called for me to come into the room and help restrain her, my GSD was panic breathing, was fearful, and was in a state I've never seen her before. In fact, as we waited for the blood test results, she climbed up on to a chair and tried to drape herself across my lap as she was so anxious. I held her close to me so she would calm down, but she was absolutely out of sorts. I don't know what this tech did to my dog when she had her in the back without me, but this is a well trained dog that behaves immediately on command. However, given what I saw from this tech, I am guessing she tried to brute force my dog rather than communicate with her (even though as she walked away with my dog I tried to tell her that my dog listens to commands. But this tech just ignored me). Brute forcing my dog would of course have sent my dog into a panic. My dog isn't accustomed to someone trying to overpower her, particularly a stranger (my dog does very well with her trainers, and with her sitter, so this isn't my dog not being able to work with people other than myself. This was about a tech who didn't know how to handle a large, well trained dog). Whatever this tech did to my dog, my dog was still out of sorts by the time we got home. She was glued to my side and took several hours to overcome whatever happened while she was alone with that tech. I am heartbroken she was put into such a panic, and very concerned she now has a very negative association with the veterinarian. In addition to sending my dog into a panic, this tech was cold, brusque and would barely say anything to me as I tried to engage her in some friendly banter. While she wasn't overly rude, she sure gave me the impression she's prefer I disappeared. In addition, the looks she gave my dog were filled with animosity. That really gave me pause, and ultimately drove my decision this afternoon to find a new clinic for us. I can't bare the idea of bringing my GSD there again. Ergo, while we are supposed to return to CVC one more time for one more vaccination, I am trying to get us moved to another clinic as I simply can't put my dog through that kind of handling again. We will miss Dr. Inman, but my sense is, she doesn't have time for us anyway. I hope we can find a new clinic and build a new relationship with vet techs such that my girl isn't freaked out when she has to go to the vet. read more

We have been going to CVC for more than 7 years and will never go back. This clinic has become too busy and the staff does not communicate with one another. They lost the caring attitude for our pets that they once had and really do not care for the pet Mom and Dads either. Stay away! read more

Horrific customer service skills on the front line! When I placed a call to get a status update at 8AM on my pet after an overnight stay they told me to call back and talk to the doctor when they are in at noon. All I wanted was a status update to see if my animal urinated on its own, and front line went back and forth with me like I had my car in for service. In the end she did not tell me the truth about the status of my pet. I found out the truth later after a few more train wrecks and removing my pet from this vet to seek professionals. Don't get me wrong there are nice personnel at this site but I believe on the low end and inexperienced end of the Vet education spectrum. After pulling my animal from the incompetence and bringing him to professionals I was brought up to speed about what was going on with my pet, furthermore the new vet is cautious, communicative and has acted quick on some items that were not picked up on with Community Vet. I would say for a well visit or shot perhaps your experience will be a good one but in my emergency experience the establishment is more of a money grab while your family member (Pet) is at their mercy. Last but not least check your bill, they put false charges on our exorbitant bill that they have removed once challenged. Seedy, shady, incompetent, dishonest, noncommunicating individuals for the most part. read more

My 8 year old Rottie Samson tore his CCL ligament in January of 2016. I took him to Cornell to get diagnosed. They said he would need surgery to correct the injury. At that time I was going through rehabbing a partially ruptured achilles tendon and could not look after Samson after surgery and Cornell did not do medical boarding. My therapist told me about Dr. David Leahy at Community Veterinary Center and how he did an advanced procedure called TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) and that they also did medical boarding. Samson had the surgery in February of 2016 and stayed right at the Vet Center for a total of 7 weeks while he and I both healed. I was able to come and visit him from the Binghamton area once a week. The entire staff was absolutely wonderful with him during his stay with them. They were texting me photo's of him regularly as he was recovering. My sincere thanks goes out to the entire Community Vet Center staff especially Dr. Leahy, Robyn, Cathi, Kristi, Sarah and especially Amanda who has been known to hand feed Samson when he wasn't feeling well. He was just recently back at Community Vet for a stay of 1 month while I had a hip replacement surgery done and once again they did a wonderful job. I don't want to forget their great grooming staff either I take him there for nails and baths also. I wish my own doctors cared as much about their patients as the vets here do. The vets here are amazing. They really care about the animals, ad unlike other vets I've been to (Doctors Puritz, Whitner, and friends over on Main Street...), pet health is far superior to profit. My cat actually doesn't hate the vet, which is his version of a 5 star review, and the staff is really nice. Some of the techs leave exam room doors open, but they close them on request and even if a pet were to escape the exam room, they still have several doors blocking them from the outdoors. When our last pet died, we got a condolence card. These people care. read more

Worst place ever almost killed my dog. Took her In she had a UTI they decoded to fix her and keep her over ight where they put her next to a sick dog who gave my dog Pneumonia. So I then had to pay to treat her for that... 2 months they gave her the wrong medication. Which in turn had me off to an emergency vet center after she coughed up lots of blood . They told us she didn't have much of a chance to live and after getting the information from community vet they told us her meds had been wrong the whole time. Luckily these people knew what they were doing and saved my dog....but NEVER again would I go to the horrid place and I would definitely tell others not to as well. read more
