As before, the address had been chosen to do lunch at a restaurant located there. We had gauged our arrival to include a little 'looking around time' before the restaurant actually opened -- an opportunity to see what was located there, browse a little, and possibly partake in a little shopping. Shops - our initial stops, browses, and all: - Mom - 'Heritage Home & Gifts - Your Port Moody Dollar Store & More' -- a long title for a store, that she said was really only worth a short stop. When daughter and I caught up with her - her words were - "This is no dollar store!" She and daughter did catch two small Halloween 'toys'. - daughter - 'IGA' supermarket. I joined her for a look around after my outside walkabout. For the two of us, it was basically - "Yikes, people pay these high prices for everyday shopping stuff?!" We looked, we left. I did like their pretty flower & Halloween display outside. - me - an outdoor walkabout - mostly an "attempt" to see and capture some of the lovely, fall colours of trees in/about the property without being hit by the constant vehicle traffic trying to get into, or out of parking places, or whatever else they were doing! - all of which severely reduced any enjoyment of what I was trying to do! There were some lovely, Autumn colours there, but attempting to catch the sights, at least for me, was deemed too hazardous to my well being! I left outside trying to photo surroundings, and caught up with Mom & daughter, to experience a touch of what they were doing. In a short while (yea!!), we were headed out, and up to 'Hanayuki Sushi' for lunch. We came, and except for the restaurant, found little of interest at this shopping centre for any planned return visit.

The mall itself has a few anchor tenants such as Best Buy, Walmart, and T&T. Other than that, there's a pretty decent food court and the usual random stores. The place does look pretty dated (1980s?). I think it's getting torn down at some point as part of the area revitalization.

We stopped into 'Suter Brook Village' on the way to lunch (in another area) in Port Moody recently…read more This was a first time visit and look for us, and we were rather impressed with the physical nature and setup of the 'Village' itself -- a rather small, very compact, and neat shopping centre - located adjacent to, and in the midst of several new, and large high-rise, apartment condominiums. And for us, appeared so well-designed, and executed for the spot, and many owners occupying the apartments there. It was a Saturday morning, and although still quite early, it was certainly a busy spot, especially vehicle-wise, with many people competing for the rather small amount of on-street parking spots available. But with a little patience, daughter was able to catch one in a rather handy spot for the short time we had planned to be there. I had read some online information about the 'Village' before leaving home, and had found that the location had two places for me wishing to stop there that morning -- 'TD Canada Trust', and a 'BC Liquor Store' -- and found them located directly across from each other, at one end of the 'Village' - their locations could not have been handier. The ladies headed to Thrifty's while I did my thing - I then joined them there, for a short look, and walkabout of the place. Sorry to have not taken some photos -- guess I got too caught up in my banking and shopping. Though a short stop, and very limited look-around of what's in, and about 'Suter Brook Village', we were all glad to have done what we did, and look forward to dropping by again during some of our future 'adventures' in Port Moody.

the city of lougheed is in the middle of a major transformation, and it really shows. what used to…read morebe a fairly standard mall is evolving into a master planned urban community spanning 16 city blocks, and while it's still a work in progress, there's already a noticeable shift toward a more modern, experience focused space. one of the biggest advantages is the location. being directly connected to lougheed town centre station makes it an incredibly convenient hub, especially with access to multiple skytrain lines. it's easy to drop in whether you're commuting or just passing through. despite ongoing redevelopment, the mall remains functional with a solid mix of essentials and newer additions. the walmart supercentre continues to be a major anchor and is often busy. the new inclusive place of pickleball (ipop), which took over the old safeway space, is a standout addition and brings something genuinely different with its nine full size courts. the temporary cameron branch of the burnaby public library is also a welcome feature, offering a bright and useful community space while the permanent location is being rebuilt. retail is a mix of familiar staples and smaller specialty spots. you'll still find places like london drugs, miniso, reitmans, and fairweather, along with services like banking and insurance. shops like great wall tea co, kin's market, and purdy's add some character to the lineup. that said, the transition is very visible. there are quite a few closed storefronts and empty sections, which can make parts of the mall feel quiet or unfinished. it's clear the space is in between phases as it moves toward its future open air galleria design. where the mall really stands out right now is in its communal spaces. the eateries food court is modern, spacious, and comfortable, with lots of seating spread throughout. colourful murals brighten the area, and the indoor jungle playground is a highlight, especially for families. it adds energy to the space and makes it more than just a place to eat. food options are varied and convenient, with choices like opa, shiok express, spaghetti love bakehouse, steve's poke bar, sushi w, and bubble waffle. it's a good mix for both quick bites and casual meals, especially for people on the go. overall, the city of lougheed feels like a place in transition, but in a positive way. it's not fully there yet, and the empty spaces are noticeable, but the combination of transit access, community amenities, and new recreational features points to a much more vibrant future. even now, it works well as a practical stop and a growing social hub.

The food court had a great choice of Chinese, Persian, Indian, Japanese, fast food etc. The ramen noodle soup - Chashu Tonkotsu ($15.45 inc.) at the "Nikko Teriyaki" i had here was just excellent. There was a public library with free access to computer resources and career services too. Generally it's a shopping centre in upgrades. A Tim Horton's coffee shop was just at the entrance through to the Lougheed Sky Train station. Many banks services available at the other end of the mall.

Though small in physical size, entrance signage to Korea Plaza lists a total of 12 different, very personal-style shops and other venues inside. I first 'discovered' Koreal Plaza back in 2016. My lady friend and I found the plaza during a morning walk of the area, and dined at a restaurant there (Myoung Dong Kahl Gook Soo) in September of that year. Over recent years since then, I have dined at one other restaurant (Cheonsa Food) , and have returned several times for services at the pharmacy (Healing Pharmacy) located there. Reviews have been posted on Yelp for each. For me, Korea Plaza has offered a friendly, well-organized, very neat and clean venue of several personal shops and services. And when in the area, I continue to drop in, and enjoy browsing what's there, seeing the changes, and such. The smiles, and other courtesies extended to me while there, hace always provided nice bonuses to my visits.

The Plaza has been a popular shopping and dining spot for us over a good many years. The actual tenants locating there come & go though, but over the years, vacancies have always been rather quickly refilled, and the Plaza always seems to remain "active & alive" with a varied selection of offerings. For the past few years, for us, it has become a more important location for dining, than much shopping -- at various Chinese and Korean restaurants, which have come and gone over time -- 'Mr Ho Wonton', 'Friend's BBQ', and 'Hanok Korean' have left, but 'Yan's Garden', and 'Jong Ga Korean' remain -- and recently, a couple of new-to-the-Plaza additions, and not tried by us as yet -- 'Yan's Cafe' (a noodle house, located where 'Hanok Korean' used to be), and 'Ajuker Fried Chicken' (located where 'Friend's BBQ' used to be). Spa's - the more upscale 'Juillet Beauty Centre' is a relatively new comer, and one I have never tried (but did pop in for a peak and some info one morning). I used to enjoy great massages at a small beauty salon (I believe it was called 'Blondie's'). There's also 'Lucky Feet Massage & Reflexology' there now, but it's also one I have not tried as yet. My shopping within the Plaza was the most active when I first moved into this neighbourhood. Shops like 'Vandersteen's TV & Stereo', and 'Salvation Army Thrift Store' were located there at that time, and were popular browsing/shopping spots. For me, especially 'Vandersteen's', which became a favoured spot for browsing latest offerings in audio, video, and other home electronics gear - and where I purchased 'most everything I 'needed/wanted' for several years. Looking to try 'Ajuker Fried Chicken' - hoping to get back to 'Jong Ga' - and know we'll get back to 'Yan's Garden'.

Well it was a big, dimly lit, poorly merchandised Way Overpriced Junk Store. Literally Dollar Store products at 3-4 times the price. Then lots of junk nobody needs - nor wants judging from the looks of things (not to mention the fact that outlet stores tend to be someone else's left overs / undesirable merch. I bought a drink and left. Won't be returning- ever!

It's close for us, and has provided several shops and services over the years: Independent Supermarket (ugh!! it was formerly Extra Foods, wish it still was!!), Return-It Depot (for to be recycled bottles, cans, and such), LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services (for those doctor requisitioned blood, and other tests), North Road Medical Clinic (when you need to see a doctor 'now', without an appointment), North Road Animal Hospital (when your pet is ailing), Royal Bank, Jimmy's Place (a small, good breakfast/lunch diner), Hee Rae Deung (restaurant, Korean-Chinese cuisine, and so good!), Great Clips (a 'casual' hair salon), and others. Miss several of the departed shops (especially the florist, natural foods store, and art store). Shopping and services in a local neighbourhood plaza -- what we like, and use as much as possible.

On the second and third floor are the office buildings/ doctors. I feel like the busier area is on the first floor. There are no public washrooms in this plaza other than in the restaurants. If you do need to use the washrooms in the office floor (2 and 3), you will need a key. The building looks like it needs some love.
