Joy found us through A Better Chance Rescue--and we're so grateful she did…read more From the start, ABC's team was thoughtful and thorough about fit, answering questions quickly and keeping us updated. Joy had been living with an amazing foster family in Taiwan who clearly invested time and love. She arrived knowing sit and stay, comfortable with people, children, and ready to bond. That foundation made our first weeks smooth and joyful (pun intended). As a parent, I appreciate how Tina knew what's best for the dog and the family. The foster model and careful matching really show. Joy is gentle, eager to learn, and an instant best friend for our household. My daughter Olivia was asked to add her own words: "We found a perfect dog because of ABC. The fosters taught Joy so well with sit and stay! If someone is looking for a forever dog I definitely recommend ABC!! They put the dog in a foster family so they can know what it's like to have a family. The fosters teach regular English commands like sit & stay (they are awesome at that!). ABC is awesome!!" Thank you, Tina @ ABC, for the love and structure you pour into rescue. You didn't just place a dog; you helped build a family. -- Matthew & Olivia (and Joy!)

The folks there really know their stuff--they asked us all about our home life to ensure it'd be perfect for him. Hachi arrived healthy, vaccinated, and ready to roll. He took to our home instantly, plays fetch like a pro, and settles down without a fuss at night. They're not just rescuing dogs; they're carefully matching them with loving families like ours. Big thanks--you've changed our lives for the better and literally saved our new pup's life!

I inquired about adopting a kitten from here. I previously had a purebred Russian Blue kitten who I…read moremade the difficult decision of rehoming and was honest about it. She first ripped a string off of a cat tree and swallowed it which required a surgery which cost me $3,000 AFTER pet insurance. Less than 3 months later, she swallowed a stainless steel sponge and needed a surgery which was going to cost $10,000 and insurance wouldn't cover because it was repeated behavior. I feel extremely judged and am still traumatized from my previous experience. I was originally told I could foster a kitten but would not be allowed to adopt until I had active insurance and in this time other people would be able to adopt without obtaining insurance. After I replied that I have always maintained insurance and provided clarification about my prior situation I was sent this judgy email: " After reviewing your application and communication, we've decided not to move forward with the adoption. Our rescue places animals only in homes we believe are fully prepared for a lifelong commitment -- not just when it's convenient, but through all the ups and downs that come with pet ownership. We've seen far too many animals discarded when things get hard, and we work tirelessly to make sure that never happens to the pets we save. These are lives, not temporary companions. When we say "forever home," we mean it. At this time, we do not believe this adoption would be the right fit, and we won't be considering future applications from you." The average American cannot afford a $10,000 surgery. My kitten demonstrated she needed more supervision than I could provide, so I found her a home which could better support her needs. I am the one suffering!

In my particular case, I was looking for a small, hypoallergenic dog, which was difficult to find. After months of checking their adoption page, I finally found the perfect puppy who fits so seamlessly into our family. She is incredibly sweet and transformed almost instantly after coming home with us, from a shy, shivering little pup to an absolute terror in the best way possible! The staff was wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable, and very informative throughout the entire process. I also appreciated how thorough they were, providing all the supplies we needed for the first few days and taking every precaution to ensure a smooth transition. On top of that, the facility was clean, organized, and clearly well cared for. We're so grateful to have found our newest family member here!

Always more of a dog person. But I was worried because of her age she might be on a shortlist for something trickier - especially after first coming to animal control and gaining 4 pounds. But we took to each other immediately. And she seemed to be one sweet healthy cat attached at the hip to me, attached to my people, and patient with dogs and cats in the house for sitting. Have been crushed since but thank you ASPCA tor everything. Even after years I together and tons of water bowlers, routine, cuddles, play time, and a two bedroom with a full kitchen, bathroom, and living room, a litter robot, cat trees and plenty's of scratchers, I discovered she had kidney disease (CkD) at age 18, she lasted another year.

Parking nearby is horrendous, super busy even on the weekdays before the rush hour so I can't imagine weekends when people are out or other high traffic times. Get ready to make some rounds and pay for parking and be careful since there's very specific signage and times. The cafe itself is cute and cozy. Front area is a gift shop with lots of cat themed gifts and goodies like keychains, stickers, and such, and also some items from local and small artists too, which is neat. The cafe also has community events like movie showings ("The Cat Returns" was one of them which is a great choice) and cat yoga. If you're local, you can also get a time stamp if you are a frequent visitor. Definitely follow their socials for more information. There's reservations online and you can also do walk ins if it's not super busy. You can book for a 55 minute visit or a 30 minute visit. PRO-TIP: There's a discount for students, so if you want to be surrounded by some feline friends while you study or relax, great place to do so. You can hang your coat on the rack and there's a mini shelf area for your shoes. So you gotta walk in with socks! With each visit you can either get a hot cup of tea or a cold can or box drink from their fridge (sparking water, juices, etc.). Very refreshing and you can enjoy it in the cat area too. Sanitize your hands before and after visiting. There's lots of cats hiding around, sleeping, walking around, and some are super friendly and will go into your lap. There's toys you can play with the cats with and there's a wall of adoptable cats. Lots of seats or you can opt to sit on the floor with the cats too. There's relaxing lo-fi music throughout too. Pretty cool that they rescued 2 cats from Qatar and neat that we got to see them. As with all cats, some can be a bit spicy but it's usually just a warning teeth rub. I own cats so there's nothing new. I'm horribly allergic to the cat that specifically lives in my house, but I didn't get an allergy here, meaning that the cats are clean and well taken for. My favorite was a large sleepy orange boy, Ron (permanent non-adoptable resident) that was hanging out next to me the entire time.
