Yesterday I went and visited to get me two oxtail plates and I did come towards the closing time of the hot food bar so there was not a lot of options. I was OK with it because they had enough oxtail and I was grateful for. I got one plate of oxtails, white rice and plantains and my second plate was oxtails, Spanish rice, and plantains. They also have a fresh juice option behind the hot food bar, and all of their fresh juices are excellent. I love the mango and soursop. Those are my two favorite. It reminded me of the local meat markets back home in Houston, and I really wanted to find a Black-owned spot with that same feel. This was exactly it. I knew going in that it wasn't going to be a fancy, Whole Foods-type place. It's an older, traditional meat market, and that's exactly the vibe I was looking for. Parking is on the side, and the entrance is right off the street. Inside, the meat counter is in the back. Customer service was great. I went the day after Thanksgiving, so it wasn't busy at all. I came looking for pig feet, and the staff was quick, helpful, and friendly. They usually have pig feet pre-packaged and priced, but they were out, so the butcher grabbed fresh ones and cut them exactly how I wanted (longways), wrapped them up, and sent me on my way. They accept Apple Pay, which is always a plus, and they offer text or printed receipts. Prices were reasonable, and overall it was a cool meat market with good service.
