When you arrive each time and all the local charter captains are there you know they are offering the best bait, products and advice. I've been to other stores in the area and although not bad there bait has always been sluggish, small and does quickly. Everytime I've bought live bait here it has been live and kicking for days in some cases. The staff is knowledgeable and true fisherman and not afraid to share their local knowledge. I'm new to the area and this is the closest bait and tackle shop near me. Conveniently accessible from main road. Decor is nice outside. Walked in and found a shop that is organized very well. Gentleman behind the counter greeted us promptly and professionally. Asked if I had any questions. Yup. New to the area and looking a for something to use from shore. He suggested a lure that I just saw guys using as live bait. Bought it. They don't have a huge quantity of gear but they do carry a lot. Great selection of lures and reels. My sister and I were in the bait/tackle shop a week or so back. My father used to go here all the time, he recently passed away. None of us are from the area so we dont know the local fishing practices/rigs/set-up. The guy working the shop not only gave us great advice on where to go but also set up our rods and reels with the right sized hooks/leaders and sinkers on all 4 rods and never asked for a dime. The kid was super nice, very helpful and we are going back today for yet another shore-fishing day while we are in town handling my father affairs. Logan was awesome to deal with and went out of his way to get me the Crab Traps I was looking for. He brought in three different styles the next day. Then got me the ones I wanted quickly. This place is a FANTASTIC bait shop but SO much more. They have apparel and tackle and fishing supplies and rods and beverages and...well, you get the point. The staff here are really top notch as well. Ever notice that a lot of bait shops are kinda dark and seem old and dank and everyone is kinda strange and a tad unfriendly? This place has it all: tons of tackle from rods & reels, to every lure normally used in the area, and all the accessories you need. Plus, they offer every type of bait in the book, and all at a very reasonable price. The place is bright, clean and organized. The part that I appreciate most is the staff treats customers with care. I was there on a busy afternoon last Saturday, and clearly saw it in action. When two customers asked for help with a reel sale, the gentleman spent time clearly explaining the differences of each model, and suggested uses for the type to be selected. Another couple said they were new to the area and asked for the proper technique for fishing the causeway. Again, the other staff member spent time teaching about the set-up, instead of just pushing product. Lastly, when I signed up for their email list, there was a spot for general questions. I asked for pointers on catching local snook, and received a detailed and clear response about locations, lures, bait, tackle and best times to make the attempt. Family friendly bait shop that really goes out of their way to help you and give you the knowledge and information you need to get the most out of your fishing experience. My daughter showed interest in fishing while on a camping trip, so I needed help, see I had never went fishing before in my life and the I was recommended to this shop to help get me set up. I talked to the owner, and he offered to show me how to throw out a line and how to set up the reel and rod. He sold me a nice set, and only sold me what I needed and nothing more. I had been to another establishment and they seemed to be only interested in selling and not really teaching me anything, they also kind of made me feel dumb by asking the questions I asked since I was new. A few months ago I decided to get into fishing but I was totally green to the sport. I didn't know where to start, so I swung into the local shop to ask some questions. The amount of knowledge and care these guys have for their customers is unbelievable. You can tell that everyone there has a deep love for what they do. The staff is incredibly friendly and will walk you through everything you need to know to get started. My main target was redfish, so they gave me a few recommendations for rods and explained to me the pros and cons for each. The staff took their time, making sure I understood exactly what I was purchasing. You can tell these guys aren't just trying to sell you the hot item of the week. They honestly seem to put in the extra effort making sure the gear you buy is precisely what you need to catch the monsters! Not only do they get you the gear you need, they actually take the time to teach you how to use it! After I bought my rod and reeI, I spent well over an hour talking to them about how and when to use certain baits, what times are the best for fishing, tides, flats, popping corks, what color artificials work best in the area, etc. Even to this day, every time I go back I am learning something new.
