Wanted to be sure everything was OK before using in fall/winter. The servicemen gave a 2 hour window but showed up 39 minutes past that time and were only at the house for less than 20 minutes. My wife was home with our baby; I was at work. She called me. I got up on the roof to clean my gutters about 3 weeks after they left and walked to the chimney to take a peek. I found the chimney cap plugged with old dry leaves, some charred from past seasons, most rotten. Wish yelp had a feature to upload pictures. Certainly raised some doubts about their thoroughness. Just wanted to be certain all fire hazards were eliminated before using. I'll shop around a bit more next season. Not confident here.

Recently during most recent heat wave, our AC quit working on a Friday night. Called Walrath and left message after hours and they called Monday morning and were able to set appt. for Tuesday even though they were booked. Dan in Service was able to maneuver personnel to fit us into schedule and had unit repaired by Tuesday evening . Temperatures were up to 100 degrees these days and extremely uncomfortable for us including for our two year Granddaughter, especially at nap time. He suggested that I plan to save $6000 to $7000 for a new one this fall. In November I met with a Walrath salesperson who evaluated where the furnace was located in my crawl space and advised that the price would be $8000. Two days later his written proposal came in at $10,000. When I asked him about the difference, he said that he had forgotten to add in how labor intensive my particular installation would be. He was certain it would go into a second day. I took him at his word. It took the workmen less than 6 hours to complete the job. The salesman and head of the company - now called Walrath Mechanical - refuse to talk to me about the $2000 extra I was charged for labor that was not required. This is a scam. I have since noted on Yelp that I am not the only reviewer of Walrath who trusted a grossly inflated bid. These guys are crooks. Homeowners like me and managers of commercial properties may have once appreciated this small company. Don't be fooled - they no longer care about you.

I have tried for years to get them to honor their guaranty. They don't answer the phone or return calls or emails. I have sent them scans of the guaranty and electricity bills. They do not respond after the sale and do not honor their guaranty. Do NOT use Energy Advantage unless you are still willing to spend hundreds of dollars a year on supplemental electricity! On the plus side, the crew was polite and finished the installation timely.

There are a few parking spaces that run along the front of the store, but you most likely may have to park along the side streets. The showroom is large, and easy to navigate, especially during this COVID-19 time. My husband and I appreciated it. We walked around and looked at the various fireplaces and setups. We were then directed to an employee, Faye. She is a Hearth Design Specialist. She answered our questions, and gave us a card to one of their general contractors that they recommend. She gave us very useful information, more than the fireplace stores had told us. Things such as, we would need a contractor to build the frame, where the new fireplace would go. Other stores told us they would just pull out the old fireplace, and put in the new one. NO, we need to make sure that the frame would actually work for the new fireplace. Having a contractor is a must. We did further research, and yeppers, Faye was right. The employees are very nice. They know what they are doing, what they are talking about. It's easy to move around the showroom, with plenty of products to look at. They will answer your questions too. Will we be going back, most likely, after all of this COVID-19 is under control.
