The minor part of the job was carving out some of the yard for flowers and for deer-protected vegetable garden. The major part was the redoing of our disintegrating deck area (while maximizing garden and lawn area) with a concern for quiet sitting and reading (including intellectual and paper work) and functionality for entertaining. Part of the issue was to create quiet from street noise. We started with some suggestions. John DeVore listened insightfully to what we had in mind. He gave us an overview of what he conceptualized and it seemed very good. Along the way we had more conversations and the project was tweaked--always for the better. Deck is now a concrete one and stone-tiled, and the front face has an ingeniously & simply-engineered small waterfall for relaxation and the masking of ambient noises. The finished project is beautiful, fits the bill excellently and we are delighted with the results. Near the end of our project the Cincinnati Zoo called on him in to rectify a stone and water project they had started but wanted improved. We understand that they have contracted with him for another project. And if we have another one we won't bother shopping around but just use DeVore's again. In fact, for time-to-time landscape upkeep we will use their services. This is the best company by far of 3 landscapers we have used in this area.
