I eagerly tried on everything Katie brought into the fitting room and we spent most of our time going through the styles and colors and finding the right combination that would make me look my best. By the time we were done, we had a huge clothing pile of maybes and definitely-nots. After Banana Republic, we shopped at Bloomingdales in the same process. Then life, graduate school and years of post graduate school in a sector that doesn't value style happened. I had ended up with a packed closet that was more of a time capsule storage unit than functional space, leaving me with mountains of things and still feeling like I had nothing to wear because the vast majority of it fit but was 10 years old.
