Pates Pool & Spa - This is the poor workmanship, which came with a non-customer experience driven contract they believe absolves them of all responsibility.

As soon as Lori left (not sure if she was let go or left intentionally), the customer service…read morenoticeably declined. Up until that point, I would have rated Pate's 4 or 5 stars. I specifically emailed Pate's on September 13, 2024, before the pool closing, requesting that they ensure the hot tub was set up properly for the winter. I even flagged concerns about previous issues and mentioned that it was part of the process the team had consistently performed in the past. Despite this, the spa was not winterized, which led to a cracked filter cartridge when freezing temperatures hit. When I reached out in December about the damage, I was met with dismissive responses. They claimed the spa setup was not part of the contracted service and suggested that the issue must have been caused by factors unrelated to the pool closing. This was despite my email explicitly requesting the service, and their prior assurance that notes on my account should guide the process. The lack of accountability and dismissive tone made an already frustrating situation worse. What's most disappointing is that this level of customer care has become the norm since Lori's departure. I hope they can address these gaps, but until then, I cannot recommend them as confidently as I once did. A few observations which back up my original review: 1. Zero accountability. They don't respond to a simple email that was sent in advance of the closing to communicate with me any of the details that David is now communicating. If they were communicated before, problem solved. They just didn't respond instead. This is 2024. If you run a business and don't know how to respond to basic emails, then you probably should look at your own operations and take a little ownership of the problem. 2. People are busy. That's why we outsource these key elements of our home. We use our spa sparingly, thus the long lapse in time that went by (12 weeks). If David the owner wouldn't have been so dismissive and said at least "hey, we can do better...you can do better", I never would have felt the need to fill out this review. As I told him on the call, we both could have communicated better in this situation. However, I'm the customer, not the business owner. I shouldn't be the one to recognize that.

They are a scam when it…read morecomes to cleaning at least and if you have them clean your pool, I'd recommend you watch them. If I didn't have cameras around my house, I would've been out a bunch of money. I hired them to "open" my pool. We did the deluxe option which includes; clean and remove winter cover, start equipment, reassemble ladder, diving board, returns and skimmers, vacuum pool (for ABOUT AN HOUR), and add opening chemicals. Everything was already put together, so they didn't have to do that. I also had already vacuumed/cleaned up the pool a little, but we were running out of time and wanted to have it cleaned for our party on the 4th, so we decided to hire the rest of the work out. All they had to do was add chemicals and vacuum for the $567.67. People were telling me that's a lot, but it was more for the convenience of having them do it vs me having to take off work and vacuum for the party, so I went ahead and did it. Now, the day of the service they called me at 3:01 and said they were on their way. I should start by saying I have cameras all around my house and watched them do my service. My father was at the house when they arrived at 3:35. They talked out front for a few minutes and then they pulled around to the pool at 3:39. They started the vacuum process with a VAC DADDY at 3:41 and pulled it out of the pool for the first and only at 3:52. Then they assembled their skimmer and skimmed the pool from 4:00-4:06. They put the skimmer away, shut the tailgate at 4:09 and drove away. Again, the whole point of hiring them was to vacuum the pool. I can add chemicals to it, no problem. The initial call, I made it clear I was looking for them to vacuum and they kept telling me they will vacuum for AN HOUR. Well after watching the cameras and seeing them only vacuum for 11 minutes, it was very frustrating to say the least. They also said they added 9 different chemicals and they didn't do that either. Of course I called asking for a refund because they didn't do what they were suppose to do. I kept bringing up the vacuuming because that was the main point of them coming and and Ty kept telling me "we vacuum for ABOUT AN HOUR". I don't know whos scale he's using, but about an hour to me is at least 45-50ish minutes, NOT 11 MINUTES! They didn't even vacuum for half the time they said they would, so ABOUT isn't the correct term to use. They ended up telling me to come into the store to get my refund and all I'd have to pay for is the chemicals. Watching them add what I thought at the time was a couple gallons of chlorine, I thought it would be $45 at most since they charge $12.99 for a gallon of chlorine. The chemicals they "added to the pool" added up to $220. I told them I'd be back tomorrow to sign the paper, so I can watch the cameras and see what chemicals they added and he stopped me and said, "if you sign the paper today, all we'll charge you is the chlorine". So I agreed and just so everyone's aware...the paper stated they'd never service me again (which I wouldn't hire them again anyways) and I'm not allowed to pursue any legal actions after receiving my refund. After watching the video last night, they only added 3 gallons of something (looked like chlorine), so I still overpaid. Also, when I got my "invoice" they told me their system automatically tracks how long they are at a jobsite and my time on the sheet was 1 hour and 6 minutes. It also showed they got there at 12:00 and left at 1:06, so that "automatic system" isn't correct at all seeing how they called me at 3:01 to say they were on their way and didn't arrive until 3:35. They continued to say they could've denied the vacuum and refunded me money, but they didn't. They went ahead and vacuumed for 11 minutes and charged me full price. If they would've told me they couldn't vacuum I wouldn't of hired them in the first place. Seeing how the vacuuming was the whole point. Long story short, I won't be using them ever again and I'd recommend no one else use them either.

They installed our pool in 2010 and it still functions well and looks good. However, we just…read morelearned that they did not install the gas line to the heater correctly. They shortchanged us and the local gas company turned all of the gas off to our house until it was corrected. Not only was there no shutoff valve, they didn't use the heavy duty gas line required for underground. Those two issues cost $1300. They refuse to repair or pay for this service because "there is a new owner." We were also fined $1100 back in n 2010 because they didn't get an electrical permit. Take this for what it's worth

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS PLACE!!!! i went there to buy my first hottub and i was told it was a…read morereally good one. well.... i bought one used and was promised it was 6 years old but when i took the panall off and looked at the information i found out it was thirteen years old. they told me i had a full month warranty and one day within that month i noticed that one of the jets was not working right and one of my speakers quit working. i called them and they said "they will not fix something that small" i took the back panall off the hottub to see if i could fix the speakers and a quarter of the insullation was torn out. when they shown me the hottub they promised me that they put new insulattion all around it but in reality they only showed me the front of the hot tub with the front panall off. the front of the panall had insullation on it but the remaining sides and back of the hottubs insullation was worn out and rotton or missing. i tried to put the panall back on but half the screw holes where drilled out and i was only able to screw in half of the screws. they also drilled out half the screws and kept them in there. so i had to go out and buy new screws for it. the door to the radio didnt have any magnets on it when they brought the hottub over here it was just held on by a piece of tape i had to go to the store to buy new magnets and i glued them on myself. i was promised a month warranty and they were not true to their word. they promised me no matter how big or small the problem was with the hottub they they would bring somebody over to fix it. but its been almost 5 monthes and still they haven't brought anyone over. to sum it all up imperial pools of madison does not have good customer service and is not loyial or fare to their customers. i havent had the hottub not even a year and it doesnt even run anymore i had to drain it because they did such a horrable job fixing it. please dont buy anything from there. they will lie to you.
