The owner and head trainer, Mark did an excellent job in helping Molly deal with her anxiety issues. We adopted Molly, who was locked up in a barn and had severe anxiety. She is now much calmer and confident. I took our 2nd Pup Ziggy to Mark recently. Mark was amazing to help me identify Ziggy's reactivity issues and address them. Chrissy in Eugene did a wonderful job helping to get our rescue Pug/ShiTzu, Mikey, to listen. He is sassy (and has a face only a mother can love.) Even though he's only 14 pounds, he thinks he's the boss of all the other dogs in the house. Chrissy taught him basic obedience and worked with him on socialization with other dogs. I have participated in several classes with two of my dogs. The instructors have been excellent. On of my dogs is a therapy dog and we learned all of the behaviors needed as well as improving my handling skills. Melissa is calm, patient and makes suggestions in a helpful manor. My other dog was in beginning and intermediate agility classes that are fun and build the foundation to continue agility. My dog loved these classes as did I. The reason I gave 3 stars is because the floor in the building is uneven and falling apart. I have tripped on the uneven areas when working in agility. Mark came to help me with a very stressful situation between a cat I had taken in from my neighborhood and my older dog. My dog was a herding dog and would chase the cat constantly creating a difficult environment. Mark came over and helped me create a more useful environment in my home for them both to live in and a way to help them live together. The owner, Mark, really helped my dog Maggie who had developed leash aggression at the Sandy Springs location . He is very thorough and knowledgeable and uses evidence based, positive techniques. We went fir a couple hours one time where we went over the problem and then I watched Mark demonstrate how to walk and reinforce Maggie's behavior in a ring by herself, then while in presence of dogs and other trainers. Then I repeated the walking and reinforcing in the ring while walking in ring with the other dogs. My dog responded very well to Mark and "got" the idea of what we wanted her to do quickly. I am now able to walk Maggie without worrying about her becoming aggressive. I recommend all family members attend a session or at least watch video of training session for consistency. . I highly recommend CPT -money well spent. It's impossible to help your dog improve without learning about dog behavior-yelling and pulling dog has negative effect. We sought out Mark to train our 5-year old Shiba Inu mix, Sheila. She has always had anxiety issues, and though our work with previous trainers helped some, she developed some bad coping mechanisms when we moved into a new house. I was very concerned about what I had considered aggressive behavior from my dog. He was territorial about the car and I thought he had leash aggression toward other dogs, (he was not aggressive when off the leash). Mark worked with us and explained to me that my dog doesn't really exhibit aggression, but he is reactive to other dogs, and when on the leash, he is frustrated with his lack of control. Just knowing the issue was very reassuring for me. Mark also provided exercises we can do to help my dog adjust to other dogs, without being reactive. This company is a ripoff !!! This is the list of what they offered online to accomplish and basically what our telephone interview went like before I enrolled my puppy into their boarding training in a trainer's home for three weeks. Lesson plans may include: Basic Obedience (Watch, Come, Sit, Down, Stay, Walk, Heel)! Intermediate Obedience (Improved basic performance, plus the commands Front, Stand, Stand Stay, and Finish)! Advanced Obedience (The previous commands performed reliably and responsively off-leash amidst high distractions)! Household manners (Housebreaking, Chewing, Barking, Jumping, Digging, Raiding trash, Stealing food, Stealing objects, Mouthing, Bolting, Cat chasing, Car behavior)! Socialization (Getting your dog more comfortable amidst strange people, dogs, and places)! Behavior Modification (Dominance training, Anxiety reduction, Aggression reduction, Hyperactivity reduction)! My dog is now worse for the wear. When I showed up after three weeks, the trainer, Melissa Cate, had my pup on a pronged choke collar. It was obvious that my dog hadn't been bathed the entire time she was there. She couldn't get her to sit or lay down consistently. To make her lay down she would step on the leash which dragged my dog's head to the ground and she would roll over in submission like she was being bitten. When I argued that anyone with a pronged collar and a handful of turkey meat could accomplish what she just did, she took her off the pronged collar and my dog tried desperately to get back to me. When I asked her if she was housebroken, she said, "yes. on a leash." ON A LEASH!?? She even said that she was not about to let my dog have free range of her house because she wasn't going to let her mess it up. WHAT? That's why I was paying her $1470!! She tried to bully me into accepting that this was the results because my dog was a jack russell breed puppy. When I told her that I was going to videotape her to show her boss to ask him if that's what he considers passing, she refused to allow it and then offered me a deal. The deal was she would work with her for one more week and only charge me for two. I wish I would have just taken my dog back. When me and my boyfriend showed back up a week later we tried to just offer her $500 for her troubles (although we didn't need her boarded, we needed her trained since we both have traveling jobs that make it impossible to own a dog with anxiety), and she wouldn't take it. We ended up giving her the amount for training for two weeks just to be done with it. After closer inspection when we left her house, my dog has a broken tooth (probably from chewing her kennel which I've seen her do to her crate at home) and she had a broken toenail which caused her to limp. She still favors not running straight on that leg. I just tried to let her have a play date with another puppy while I went to work, and her anxiety was so high that the woman had to bring her back to me. This is NOT what I expected!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Nowhere on their website does it say they would use the pronged collar in training, but they did. Nowhere on their website does it say that certain breeds were not trainable, but that was the excuse I got from her. It's not about the money. It's the fact that my puppy was a much happier animal before I enrolled her with this company. She is definitely worse for the wear and I'm not even sure how to handle this new level of anxiety from her. Sometimes when I go to pick her up, she cowers like I am about to beat her!!! Our beagle pup attended Mark's training. Fourteen years later his non-stop barking during meal preparation and dinner was driving us nuts. We contacted Mark for help. I took my dog here last fall and though I forgot the ladies name. She was really great even with her coping with the recent lose of her dog. Think we were all in tears, when we heard. I felt really bad for her deeply respected and appreciated her for coming in to work and helping us with our dogs. Needless to say , its all human.... not dog that needs the training. I learned things and the training helped me to have a better relationship with my dog. I have trained 3 dogs with CPT over the last 15 years or so. I brought my first dog, a Samoyed named Astro, to CPT after he started a fight with a neighbor's Sheltie in my apartment complex and was lunging aggressively at dogs in the park. CPT pretty quickly taught me how to remedy the problem. We did this by using all positive training to get my dog used to other dogs in small increments. Astro soon became friendly with all dogs, and I never had a problem again with aggression. Moreover, Astro became significantly more obedient, calm, relaxed, and happier. I enjoyed the training so much that I continued training Astro in group class through all the pet programs and the competition program, where I am proud to say my once aggressive, out of control, bolting Samoyed achieved AKC Novice and Open titles and several second and third place finishes. After Astro passed away and several life changes that included marriage and the purchase of a house, etc., I brought my new Samoyed Max to CPT. Again, CPT did an excellent job. Max was a rescue that arrived rambunctious and stubborn. With CPT's help he became a much more manageable and enjoyable pet. Now, I am bringing my Australian Shepherd puppy Yahtzee to CPT. We have completed Beginner and Intermediate Obedience, Beginner Agility, and several private lessons. Several neighbors have commented on how well he listens. CPT could have been a great experience, if the trainer did not constantly tell me, and almost all the other 15 people in the puppy class, "you need to call the office and schedule a private training session". This started with the first class, and progressively got worse. By the 3rd class I attended, I was told this 3 times! It was very degrading and full of so much pressure to buy their private training! I have a rescue, so to spend $90+ per hour for private training, was not in my budget. I signed up for the Puppy class to learn how to work with my puppy, but the trainer did not seem to want to spend much time giving direction in a class setting. To me, the whole class concept was only set up so they could sell private training. And when I tried to get a refund on the balance of the 3 classes I did not want to attend, the owner only wanted to direct me to another class. He had no desire to "make it right," by refunding me for classes I clearly felt were not right for me or my dog. (I never asked to refund for the first classes, only for the ones I did not want to continue to take.) read more

We went to Mark for private training and it was the best decision for our dog. We had tried previous trainers with different styles from which we learned nothing, so were very happy with our experience and would highly suggest CPT. We were worried about our dog socializing and potentially reacting aggressive defensively after a previous incident with another dog. After only a couple private sessions working on drills, Mark helped us understand how to work with our dog. Our dog did extremely well walking around and working with other dogs and just generally behaving for me. Mark is nothing short of a miracle worker. We quickly learned that our recently acquired 2 yr old GSD was riddled with anxiety and other issues. We spent three months trying everything we could think of to help her and nothing was working. We didn't want to give her up, but we couldn't really see a way to turn things around and things weren't looking good. Our family was stressed, our other dogs were stressed and she was a mess. After hiring another behaviorist and not seeing results, I was reluctant to try again, but we really didn't want to give up on her. Mark came over and by the time she left I could already see tremendous progress. Over the next few weeks, it only got better. I implemented everything that Mark taught me and she's turned into a different dog. Not only that, I emailed Mark progress reports and he was able to help me via email with ongoing issues. His knowledge of dogs and their behavior is astounding, but so is his medical knowledge. With his help, I was able to go to my vet and have her put on the correct anti anxiety medication and other supplements and they've made a world of difference. I cannot express how much Mark has helped change all of our lives for the better. Our dog is functioning better and happier than I've ever seen her. Our family is once again getting sleep and I'm not cleaning up after my grown dog. I really didn't know if there was a lot of hope for our situation, but Mark helped us turn it all around. We used CPT board training for our 2 1/2 year old lab mix named Colby while my wife was recovering from a knee surgery. Colby is the usual lab personality, bouncy and affectionate, mixed with a fair degree of stubbornness. He's smart and knew some basic commands but we had problems walking him since he pulled a lot, a bit of aggression while walking (he was friendly up until the point he was bitten by another dog and then became more wary and defensive). So, all in all, not a horrible project of a dog to work with but we needed some help and my wife's surgery was a good opportunity to get the help we needed. Meghan with CPT did a great job with Colby in the time that he spent with her. When we got him back he had a really good grasp of the basic commands : sit, sit+stay, down, down+stay, walking in heel position, come. He now sits and waits when we open doors to get him to go outside. He no longer jumps up on people to greet them in his overly enthusiastic way. He's a happier and I think more well-adjusted dog. Its not a cheap service but it was well worth the money for us. Once you do board training you can do CPT training for 1/2 the regular price. Colby is now ready for intermediate training and we are considering doing a few classes to see what else we can learn together. read more

I'm so grateful to this company for helping Baylor (my service dog) and I. Not even once did I feel uncomfortable sharing with them what I needed. I never felt judged or misunderstood and I trusted 100% that Baylor was in the best possible hands. The second time Lisa (a trainer with CPT) came to get Baylor for board training, Baylor ran out to Lisa's truck and didn't look back at mom or home even once! That really floored me. Baylor is so attached to me, and I have to admit I was a bit jealous that she loved Lisa that much! :) That moment totally silenced any questions in the back of my mind about how Baylor was getting on when she was hanging out with Lisa. Clearly they have a really special bond and Lisa has an awesome gift working with dogs. Baylor is not the same dog she was in January, and it's all thanks to Lisa. I want to also comment on how dramatically Baylor changed each time she had her board training. The first board train, she came home much quieter and able to focus with a very expanded repertoire of commands and things to work on. However, in public she was still kind of distracted around other dogs and I don't think she fully understood her job. This is totally understandable, since she had only spent 6 weeks with Lisa. The second board train she did was for 5 weeks and Baylor came back a dog ready to WORK. She can now restrain herself from being wild to absolutely calm in seconds. I am amazed at how many new things Lisa taught her in such a short time. Baylor is learning Heel, Back, has mastered the Stand/Stay, does a great Visit, and her Lean is perfect. I am thrilled with Baylor's progress and I take her with me proudly. We are an awesome team now, and I think she is a great ambassador to other service dog teams and pit bulls. Even when she's not working, we get so many compliments on her good behavior and how sweet she is. I am so, so thankful to CPT. On another note, I am on the lowest dose of medication I've ever been on, and my psychiatrist and I are considering tapering me off of it completely. I have no doubt that this is entirely due to how much Baylor has been helping me since her training. read more

This was a great experience and the best money I spend for both me and my doggie. We bonded, he learned, I learned, and now I feel much safer to have him out socializing, around children, where cars are dominant, and even where other alpha dogs rule.
