They are an authorized Apple service provider. The back of my iPhone shattered, and I didn't have AppleCare. While the cost of original Apple parts is a bit pricey, the installation was only $30. It took two hours to restore my phone to like-new condition. The service was excellent, and the technician explained the process clearly. The place was very organized and clean. I have visited this store on a couple of occasions. Both BAD experiences. Both the store associate I dealt with and the manager were extremely rude and unhelpful. Today I had an issue with my Apple TV. The associate refused to even look up the case sent to his system. When I spoke to the manager he was extremely rude and condescending. Also, refused to help. Both he and the employee seemed very disinterested in my issue and barely cared about anything. Also, I dealt with this same employee on both occasions and both times he seemed to have a very anti-Apple bias. That is strange since this is a mostly Apple business. I would recommend going elsewhere if you live in this area. read more

Despite being on Apple's list of approved service providers to bring your mac product into for on site service, and despite requiring an appointment **PLEASE BE AWARE** Computer Concepts DOES NOT replace iPad batteries in store. They may be on Apple's list and you may have to wait a week for an appointment time but once you get there they'll tell you they have to mail it in to the apple store. Just save yourself the wait, the wasted trip and the annoyance and go to the Apple Store. In the end, you'll have to anyway. read more

I can't say enough about this place. These guys are AWESOME!! Especially if you got a Mac. They can do everything the Apple Store to do and more. You can save yourself the hour drive to Norfolk, or the 90 minute drive to Richmond. The owner Alan and his staff always go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to servicing your computer. I bought my wife a used MacBook from these guys and had nothing but great support and service on it the few times we had issues with it.(which we dumb user errors for the most part). They even went out of their way to get us a motherboard and battery for her laptop even though it was older and out of warranty. They're always available to answer any of our computer questions. These guys are the best - a good example of a lost breed. Back in the days when computer stores first appeared in the retail landscape, they seemed weird. The question among my peers was, "Who wants to buy computer?" But that changed rapidly, and for the good. Soon computer retail was everywhere. I myself went to work for a three-store chain in Southern California named, "Logic Tree". And in those days, you HAD to know what you were doing from consulting to sales to training to service and support and repair work. Sadly that range of expertise dies out as the BIG box stores took over the market, frequently fronted by people who could do little more than read the price tag on the box and ring you up at the counter. Computer Concepts is a step BACK to the better time, when people in computer retail actually knew what they were doing. These guys are the best in the region. These folks were super geniuses with repair quality, timeliness, and customer support on my MacBook Pro recall issue. I had a keyboard problem that gave me triple letters. They diagnosed the problem, ordered the new keyboard (which required taking the whole computer apart -not just replacing a few keys), got the computer back to me quickly, and gave me updates on the progress of the work. Alan even stayed late to catch up since they were unexpectedly slammed with some military computer repairs. I have had two occasions recently to visit the Yorktown store, both for my iPhone 6S, and have been delighted with the service. My first experience was to have the battery replaced which took about 90 minutes. The second time I was a only few hours away from going to Chrysler Hall and I could not access my expensive tickets on the Ticketmaster app! There was no other way to gain entrance to the event without my phone and I was panicking. I'd already spent hours online and on the phone with Apple Support without success. I was practically in tears when I entered the store and within 15 minutes a technician saved the day! He didn't even charge me. I was so grateful! This company was recommended to me by another computer repair shop that couldn't perform the necessary repairs due to having an Apple laptop. First I was berated for not having Apple insurance on my laptop. Then without any work done, I was quoted a price of over $450.00, while they were still taking my contact information. What Computer Concepts said I needed done was not what the previous company had said was needed. Not knowing who to trust, I agreed to the price. I was called the next day telling me they were able to get the part at a cheaper price, quoting me $329.00. I said: That's the total of the bill and the guy said yes. So happy me! Anyway, this morning I got a call from them saying my laptop needed over $100 more work due to finding water damage. I tried to argue that that particular part had never been an issue and I again was spoken over, basically saying I didn't know what I was talking about and he was an Eagle Scout, etc. I told them I had no choice but to allow them to add the additional cost and repair to the total bill, thinking I was back around the $450.00+ original cost. They told me it would be ready by Wednesday. Then, just 3 hours later, they called back and said, oh, we were looking at someone else's laptop very similar to yours, no water damage on my laptop and the price would be the original $450.00+. When I tried to ask about the price reduction I was told about, I was again talked over and was told to pay the original price quoted. No apologies for the rude, run a round prices and repair information I received. Very unprofessional service and price quotes! For what it's worth, I will not use them again. read more

Useless and frankly, insulting. I have a low-cost laptop with a small, 30G SSD hardwired inside. It did everything I needed it to do until I uploaded Windows 10, which ate up almost all of that 30G drive. Doing homework first, I looked at my computer's specs which said it has an expansion slot for an SSD up to 256G. I read reviews of folks upgrading my computer model with larger SSDs and finally, I opened up my laptop to verify the slot was there. Not sure I could do the job myself, I took to Computer Concepts and explained I wanted a 256G SSD added to it and that I wanted the new SSD to be my bootable C drive and the old, small SSD the D drive. The first gentleman didn't know what I was talking about and got another guy to help. I explained to guy #2 what I wanted and he said it wasn't possible because my laptop was so cheap it couldn't possibly have an SSD expansion slot. I told him the system specs said it did and that I had looked inside the laptop and it did, in fact, have an expansion slot. He very smugly told me I was wrong, it couldn't possibly have an expansion slot, and then explained to me why it couldn't have an expansion slot...without ever looking at anything more than the brand name. At that point, I realized if I stayed there I was either going to have to listen to a sales pitch for a more expensive laptop I didn't need or argue with a sales person who wouldn't admit he was wrong, so I left. And the end of the story? I was so mad, I decided to do it myself. I got a 256G SSD on-line for less than $60; installed it myself; cloned my C drive to the new, larger SSD; made the new SSD my bootable C drive; made my old C drive the D drive and reformatted it, making me a happy do-it-yourselfer and an unhappy Computer Concepts visitor. read more

I stopped in at this place on a Sat. Spoke at length to an employee about my Apple imac, which needed an SSD to be installed. Brought my imac in 2 days later, on a Mon. I was pretty much all checked in, just about ready to whip out my credit card...and the guy (different from 2 days prior) proceeds to inform me that my entire system (software, settings, etc) would be wiped out if not backed up (previous employee never mentioned this). No prob, I think, assuming that surely they have cloud storage, & a spare ext. drive, to do this. Oh no, the moron says, they can't do that. I asked, "Can't, or won't?". His only solution was to sell me their rabidly over-priced external drive, which was 100% more than any price at Best Buy or Amazon. So here I am, literally inches, and seconds, away from completing this sale, and this moron is literally chasing me off and doing everything he could to eradicate the sale. I tried, I pleaded....to no avail. So I had to take my Imac and head off to work.....and of course, I never returned. Found another local company who capably did the work. I would highly DIS-recommend these fools....they don't have the slightest clue of customer service, nor taking take of the customer. read more

The HD on my 9 yro laptop was finally giving up the ghost. Brent convinced me it was more economical to purchase a refurbished laptop that was much more powerful than my old laptop rather than replace just the disk and transfer programs and data. The data transfer was done to the new laptop very efficiently with everything working smoothly. The new laptop is much more efficient than the old one and the Windows 10 OS is easy to understand. I just had the best customer service experience ever! We are a military family. My twelve year old daughter got a Mac Book Pro for Christmas from the family. Somehow, she didn't know what happened to it, the screen had a pressure crack. Needless to say, her father was far from happy given that her computer is better than the family one. Alan was able to diagnose the problem and explained how to deal with the Apple warranty. We just picked up the computer after a two day turn around. After visiting the Apple Store in Richmond and another Apple Authorized Repair Provider in Richmond who gave very perfunctory "solutions" to my problem, Alan at Computer Concepts really dug into the issue and dedicated the time necessary to diagnosis the true root cause to the problem. I have used these guys twice with great results each time. The latest incident was in July when my daughter accidentally erased over 45,000 photos from her external Passport hard drive and had no other backup. She is an aspiring professional photographer so this was potentially devastating. Although I live near DC, my sister in Yorktown had used these guys in the past and swore by them. I had bad experiences with local repair shops and terrible experiences with online providers so I tried them out once before with my own PC and it was fixed perfectly for a very reasonable fee. This time we held our breath as they spent a few days trying to recover the files after I shipped them the Passport. It turned out to be 100% successful (my daughter now also uses Cloud backup).
