I have stepped into this salon 7 years ago when moved to Chicago. I've tried other places to compare, but has been back as I have found this place the best for me. I have very soft nails and no other place could do a good job to keep my nails looking good for 2-3 weeks. Tina and Cindy had listened and came up with the product that works great! I have met a woman who moved to Evanston, but came back in a few months, as she also thinks you can't beat that place. I found this place always busy, during the week or weekend hours, the place is always crowded. Tina is the most friendly person who runs this place and she always will accommodate and get a spot for you, even when you didn't call ahead. It is clean, feels like a family place. Tina seem to know all the families, mothers, daughter, and fathers. One thing that surprises me most, is the number of husbands who would do pedicure along with their wives. I made an appointment for 3 of us today. We got there and there was one lady that went back and forth for 3 of us for the first 20 minutes. When I asked what was going on I was told the other lady did not know how to do a dip manicure. Then why schedule our appointments. Most importantly they charged us an extra $10 because they said my daughter's nails are long. No where is that advertised. When I told her how I felt she argued with me. Tina, at Concept Nails, gave me the worst pedicure I ever had. I showed her a picture of how I wanted my nails and she ignored my request. She cut my nails extremely short and now I have pain. She said also rubbed the bottom of my feet so hard I have deep red skin. I have been using antibiotic cream and aquaphor. I paid her and included a 20% tip and she acted like she did me a favor. This is the cleanest and the nicest nail technicians I've ever seen. They are polite and appreciative of customers using their services! This is my second time going there and it's been a great experience so far. I went in the first time with the intention to get dip nails, but Tina persuade me to try the Solar Nails (acrylic on my natural nails with a gel powder form, and finishing touch with no-chip) because it'll be easier for fills, unlike dip nails. I must say it does last pretty long. I could have waited for another week or two but decided to go in after 3 weeks because I have a girl's trip this weekend. It's on the pricy end, a full set is $55 and the fill is $45, but I think it's worth it if you're now going in once a month. The fill took an hour and Cindy, Nail Tech was very thorough and took her time. I really like my experience there and the result. I highly recommend checking out this place if you're looking for a new nail place or want to try the Solar Nails over Dip Nails. read more

The lady who did my nails here was aggressive off the bat. she tried to tell me what to get on my nails and I made sure that she knew I wanted dip nails. this was very frustrating for her which gave her an attitude while doing my nails. she was grabbing my hand aggressively and was very hard to communicate with. First time visit here based upon past reviews on yelp. Decided last minute to get a no chip mani yesterday morning. Left them a message at 8:40 am. Was called back by 9:30 with an appointment for that morning for the time I had requested. Customer service is top notch. Waited about 5 minutes before someone sat down to start my mani. This place is close to my house, and it's i. The Brookdale shopping plaza a few doors down from Max & Benny's. Top requested person is Tina. Whom I believe to be the shop owner. She already had someone, so I got Cindy who did a great job as well. And she was very pleasant and thanked me numerous times for my business. The place is clean. People are very pleasant. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) no evidence exists of the hideous botch job I came in with from the last salon I tried and immediately regretted trying. Cindy did an amazing job. First of all she took down the cartoonish Instagram length, then she filed them so that they were actually all the same shape and length. Did not get what I asked for not even close. I went as far as to call ahead to make sure that they knew the style and the color. They assured me they knew it but yet when we got there they had me look up Photos on the Internet to show them plus they have absolutely no experience with chrome powder. The lady cut me several times and put on gloves while she continued to work on my fingers that were bleeding all over. And charged seven dollars for each of my little ones to get their nails done... they literally applied one layer of nail polish without using cuticle oil or cleaning up their nails in anyway or shaping them filing them cutting them to the same length plus the lady was texting with one hand and painting with the other so she painted my kids for fingertips... This place is exactly what I was looking for! Friendly, clean, fast, and they know what they're doing. The prices are decent too, for instance a mani/pedi is $35, which is pretty standard anywhere. Plus, it's nice and cozy, without feeling like a hole in the wall, and it's the perfect size for a girls' spa party! Originally I was going in for a full set, but the technician recommended "Solar Nails" since I wanted french tip. Basically it's just pink gel and white gel for the tips, so it looks really natural and lasts forever! Of course it's pricier ($45 compared to $26 for acrylic tips) but it is totally worth it. I also noticed they're very kid friendly, since both times I've gone so far there have been women in there with little girls getting their nails painted. Not really essential for me now, but maybe in like 5 years hehehe. They want cash tips, so make sure you bring a few extra dollars if you're planning on paying by card. Although last time I went I totally forgot cash and they were super nice about putting the tip on the card for me. I haven't tried the pedicure chairs yet but they look really comfy and nice... I think I know some little piggies that need some polishing soon! P.S. Want to leave with ruined nails due to terrible customer service? Then you should check out this place. Although the place is clean and they do a decent job, their customer service is horrible. I received a mani/pedi, and the lady turned on the fan for my feet but I was immediately told that the polish on my hands are dry, and I don't need to turn on the fan for that. After a few minutes, I decided to turn on the fan for my hands just to be sure they were dry. She walked right over and turned off the fan. She then quickly turned off the fan on my feet, put oil on my toes, wrapped it in a plastic bag and shoved my feet in my boots. As soon as I got home and took off my boots, I found that the polish on my feet was completely ruined, and the polish on my hands had a few dents since it was not fully dried. I couldn't believe they would do all of this to save a few bucks on their electricity bill. Needless to say, I'll never be returning to this place. With such fierce competition in the nail space, it's super important that their customer service is on point. I hope to see this place go out of business. read more

Three years ago I moved to Texas, where no one does a good job with acrylic nails, or even thorough pedicures and I have gone to a ton of places. I came back once and returned to Concept and Tina could tell without asking that my nails had been done by a man ( super thick acrylic like a shelf as they grow out). I had never had nails popping off like I do from Austin nail shops when I was a client at Concept. I was in town visiting, and came into Concept they remembered me! I had the best pedicure in three years, and a full set with the prettiest cat eye gel! While I don't miss living in the snow and Northbrook (y'all act like you were all born entitled to everything), I miss Concept Nails, my hair place, and my dentist. I wish I could say good things about this place based on the good reviews others seemed to have but for me this was an experience I would rather not ever relive again. First sign I should have taken seriously was when I went in the shop was nearly empty with one other customer who just walked in before me- but I just thought sweet, I beat the crowd! As I walked in, a lady with short hair and glasses who greeted me asked me what I'm in for. I tell her acrylics and she asks me to choose my polish colors. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Once I sit down with the same lady I tell her what I want (stiletto shape) show her pictures of what I'm looking for. She then takes a look at my polishes both of the CND brand and goes "Oh you just want these colors for that design, this brand is expensive. Can you pick another brand?" Um ok? I basically am shocked to hear this for the first time ever, even at the worst nail salons I'be been to have never heard such things (at least to my face or in English) THIS should have been my sign to get up and walk out. But alas I was hoping to give the benefit of the doubt seeing that the place had glowing reviews and lots of stars. Side note: by the way this IS one of those nail salons where they will speak with each other throughout your entire service in Vietnamese, so if that bothers you, just know that going in that it will be what you get. This personally isn't a big deal to me, but due to the bad overall experience it definitely does not enhance it. My lady seemed to be ok in this department because she was not conversing as much as she was telling other workers what to do, I presume she is the owner or boss. She did pick up the phone and have a short conversation though, which is odd because there were at least four or five techs sitting around. Anyway back to my nails. She shapes it, not to the best of my liking, it's more almond shaped but it's my first time asking for stiletto so whatever, this will be a good transition. She starts prepping my nails and uses her electric filer to smooth everything out, does the acrylic thing and asks me to wash my hands to prep for color. Next thing I know, I feel stinging as I wash my hands. I see that she has cut my cuticles at my thumb with that filer. At this point I am not a happy camper. I just want this service to be over. This was my final straw but it gets even better. I'm back at my seat now and I tell her I'm bleeding. She looks and goes "oh sorry" and not being one to make a big deal I just say ok. I ask if she wants me to pay, she says yes do you have cash? I say yes for your tip but I wanna charge the service. She goes "oh can you pay service with cash" I respond no, I have cash for your tip but need to charge the service. This was also interesting because the lady who left before me clearly paid with a card in plain sight and I heard no arguments there. She finally takes my card and then I hand her my tip. This I admit this is a rookie mistake. I should've waited to tip her after because as soon as I did she did my color and design half @ssed. Take a look at my pics and you'll understand. Tell me if you are the boss or manager that you can't do some clean lines for such an easy design. I doubt she sucks this much in skills to make it as an owner or manager. Again, rookie mistake. I tipped her 16-17% by the way. I guess that was not enough even though she cut me, was especially insulting to me about my "pricey" nail color choices and then also charged me $36 for my service when acrylics start at $26, so if I do my math correctly, I paid $10 for my unique "design" (again see pictures). Why did I not have her fix my design you ask? Well because I needed to take said pics to show you what kind of business this lady provides...that and I knew I could easily fix the design myself at home with some black polish. Ugh. Some regulars or maybe new clients my say I'm wrong or that they've only had good things to say but sadly for me I was not given the same respect or services that others received. After being a "poor" grad student for two years, I thought it would be a great idea to treat myself to both a mani and pedi. I usually only get pedicures since they last a lot longer. I decided that price would not be an issue, so I forged ahead with a French manicure to boot! Service was excellent. They offer you a small water bottle to drink. Nail technicians are very hard working and focused; they have an eye for minute detail. They are also very friendly. even when it was a bit difficult to communicate. This place is clean, and that is a non-negotiable when it comes to a place to get a pedicure. Lastly, together the mani and pedi cost just $40! I was expecting to pay nearly $60. Last Tuesday I went in here for the first time to get a no chip manicure before leaving for a vacation. I chose Concept Nail Spa because of the positive reviews I saw here on Yelp and thought they would be a good choice. Unfortunately, as much as I wanted to really love this place, I was ultimately very disappointed. While the salon itself is very lovely on the inside, and the women working there are incredibly friendly, my manicure was a let down. I chose a gorgeous color and left the salon very happy and looking forward to at least a week of nice nails without worrying about chipping or peeling while on vacation. However after 3 days the polish had already started to lift and I had a chip at the end of one of my nails. I'm a student and don't work or do any sort of labor that would have contributed to my nails already looking like a mess after a few days. I REALLY wanted to like this place, it's close to my house, is really nice on the inside and the women working there were very sweet. Unfortunately at the end of the day what matters most about getting a no chip manicure is that it should last AT LEAST 1 week without any problems and sadly that was not the case here. In an area where nail salons tend to be super upscale (uh, $60 manicure, anyone?) or worryingly cheap (when was the last time those tools got autoclaved?) Concept is a welcome addition. While small, they have an extraordinary selection of nail polish colors, brand new spa chairs, and offer a great variety of services not often found at other area salons-- no-chip manicures and the like. Staff is friendly, incredibly skilled, and eager to accommodate with special deals, interested, polite conversation, and wonderful perks like bottled water and Korean-style exfoliating scrubs during most services. Tina is wonderful..very professional and does a magnificent job. Her French Manicures are perfection. She knows how to shape and create the perfect look. I am always pleased with her services, and my gratuities show it. I wish I could say the same about the pedicures. This was my second try and both times have been quite disappointed. First of all, I was kept waiting a good 10-15 minutes with water that practically scolded me. They never turned on the jets, so I could even quasi enjoy it. When she finally arrived at the bowl, she practically said nothing, was too firm moving my feet around, gave me a 1 minute massage on my lower legs..not even the bottom of my feet. I have been getting pedicures for years, and I always get a good 3-4 minute massage on both soles. She was abrupt and finished me as quickly as she could. I had to go over the heels of my feet when I got home as she barely serviced them while trying to push the more expensive pedi on me. Again, I highly recommend Tina...she is a true professional, but for the money, go to Tips for Toes on Milwaukee just north of Dundee in Wheeling. My mom recommened this salon when I needed a last minute place for a mani/pedi. I was very happy with the service and quality! My nails lasted well over a week and that's with washing dishes and bathing kids. :) (rarely happens my nails last more than 3 days w/out chipping). Comfortable massage chairs too while you get your pedicure.
