WHERE IS IT: The Chicago location is in the historic Old Town neighborhood which has cute shops, cafes, and restaurants in the surrounding blocks. They also have locations in Toronto and NYC. PARKING and ACCESSIBILITY: There is a garage attached to Piper's Alley. They do not validate. There is also metered street parking which can be limited depending on the day and time. The building has elevators and escalators and the theater has wheelchair accessible seating. FOOD, DRINK, and MERCH: They offer fun cocktails, mocktails, wine, food items, and a selection of candy and snacks. You can also pick up cute merch such as mugs, glasses, shirts, sweaters, and hats.

Oh, and there's a talking rat named RATSO that tells jokes. Best part: it's FREE! And they usually set out free snacks. Sometimes there are special celebrity guests. THE Paul Frank was featured one time. I enjoy going with my friends for something different to do. And believe me, it is VERY different. Sometimes it smells a little in the studio, like the smell of not having regular shower access, but it's part of the charm. And FUN! Tapings are normally Saturday or Sunday afternoons, but they vary. Viable Public Access television is going the way of the dinosaur but, somehow, C-A-G-G has managed to tape over 700 episodes and entertain kids young and old throughout the Midwest. I didn't quite know what to expect. It seemed way too simple to just show up to a building, pay nothing, smile for the camera, and dance to music. But, that's exactly what you do. You show up at the appointed tape time (it's TV; time rules all), you should be dressed in some sort of catchy costume (it's TV; stand out), get ready to take direction (it's TV; follow the rules), and show the world what you've got (it's TV; some rapper has to be looking for a rump-shaker). For my taping, there were monsters, robots, kittens, princesses, wizards, and the little kids dressed up in costume as well. The director said "Action" and the very first refrain I heard was "I whip mah herre back an' forth!" Dammit! Another Smith has infiltrated something that was good and pure. On cue, all the little ones started bobbing and moving to their braided-leaders commands. Startled, I began to think ill of my plan until the evil sounds of the littlelest Smith were drowned out by Motown... and then The Jackson 5... and then LIVE, IN-STUDIO DOO-WOP! What? What is going on here? Nothing makes sense. This is awesome. Miss Mia's job is to interview the musical guests and keep the action moving. She does an excellent job at both. And as pleasant as she is to watch in action, my true attention was trained on Ratso -- the puppet rat MC who calls the shots. Perhaps my rapt attention to a talking rat over an attractive, music-loving female speaks volumes to my current lack of a dating life. I had a fantastic time etching my way into a piece of Chicago broadcast history and I think most everyone would feel the same.

We arrived on time, were seated, and the concert started on time. The acoustics are great and our seats were in a good spot. We used their concession stand to get water and snacks - because we bought our tickets and paid for the concessions using a Chase card, we were given a big discount - nice. We'll continue to go to the Chicago theater when they have shows we want to see. It's a great theater and a wonderful experience.

I like its ornate décor, the stadium style seats set-up which offers good stage view, the acoustics, and the overall aesthetics of this venue which makes it an ideal place to watch live events. On my recent (late June 2026) visit to see The Human League, Soft Cell, and Alison Moyet for the Generations tour, overall, I had a good experience. There were couple of issues that we had such as lack of cool air circulation inside the auditorium (it was hot and sweaty) and a couple of people standing throughout the show to dance, blatantly blocking other peoples' view and not caring about being inconsiderate and uncourteous to people behind them to which the theatre ushers had no problem with it. Otherwise, I have not had issues at this venue. So, 4.5 stars but rounded up to five. I look forward to going back here.

On the day of the show we lined up outside for a few minutes and quickly and efficiently went through the security process. We were seated quickly . The show was 30 minutes and went by so quickly. I haven't been to the Rosemont Theater in forever, but I do recall it always being a positive experience. Parking?: Decently priced and close to the entrance Security?: Present enough to make you feel safe. The process for checking bags and being [metal detector] wanded was smooth. Merch?: Conveniently located in the main lobby, well displayed, and smooth to make a purchase. I had eaten dinner prior to arriving, but the concession stand looked to have decently priced snacks. The theater looks a little um, retro(?), but it was a gift to be in a beautiful theatre over a giant sports stadium. The sound quality was great, the seats were comfortable, and I could see Charlie very well, even if I chose to sit during a slower song due to the staggered, stadium seating. Traffic on the way there was a little slow due to a concert at Allstate Arena, the Chicago Dogs home opener, and Anime Central, but that was on me to be responsible and leave at an appropriate time. I had looked up the set list on SetlistFM so I knew there was no encore. As soon as that last note of "Changes" rang out into the air, I was a cloud of myself as I briskly walked to the car to get out of the parking lot, haha. What a joy to enjoy a concert and be back on my own driveway in 23 minutes!

Parking here can be a mess. We left home 2 hours before our show and were so glad we did. The drive from Chicago's West Town area and waiting for parking alone, took us over an hour. Once in the parking lot, we were fortunate to get a spot around the corner from the main entrance. Expect to wait in a long line for concessions, coat check, and the ladies restroom. Prices for drinks and snacks are what you would expect. However, the mixed drinks we purchased were definitely worth the price we paid. Our server at the bar had a "heavy hand" so there was plenty of spirits in the drinks. Definitely appoint a designated driver. Seats are comfy here and the inside of the theatre gets warm. But plan to sit very close to strangers if you don't have an aisle seat. I like the intimate setting of this theatre. Views from row E were fabulous. Being an amateur musician myself, I would say the only critique I have is that at times the instruments sounded louder than vocals, so it made it hard to hear the soloists at times. In all, a December concert here was a beautiful experience and a great way to kick off the holidays!

And then picking up The Verdict with Ted Cruz, is WLS AM or The Answer too busy to be the Chicago radio affiliate for the show on Sunday nights to air it? Ted Cruz has to be spreading Republican lies, and making Donald Trump sound like the greatest thing since sliced bread.
