Honestly, I found BK Camera Repair by doing a Google search. I was a little skeptical about taking my camera there because none of my friends could personally vouch for them. ... Glad I took a risk! The exact location was a little hard to find because the building contains multiple offices. And my GPS was sending me to the wrong place. But I found it! Haha! When I arrived, I was greeted by a nice girl who checked in my broken camera and my lenses that needed to be cleaned. The next day, I received a call with a quote and an estimated completion time. Calvin explained the costs of everything, and even told me what was not worth fixing! (He could have ripped me off, trust me, I wouldn't have known any better. .. but he was honest!) I had a couple problems: a 70-200 mm IS lens which generated an error code and didn't work. I had also sent a Canon DSLR to Canon directly for cleaning and it came back with a prism full of dust. Canon wanted over $200 just to open the camera and LOOK at it, and no apology for shipping me a camera with a prism full of dust. This problem was caused by them. I spoke with Calvin about this, and he said he could work on this while I waited. Calvin gave me the option of having a module on my lens repaired or replaced. I chose the repair. Within a few days the lens went out again. I brought it back in and Calvin replaced the module at no extra charge. The lens is good as new. With regard to the dust in my camera, Calvin opened up my camera and fixed that in less than 5 minutes. Its hard to express how happy I am with the service I received. What I appreciate about Calvin is he treats your equipment as it's the most important piece in the store; he presents all options to get you back up and running and he goes beyond if he has to. I appreciate him passing on his vast technical knowledge as well. Too many shops focus on what they can and cannot do, with no explanation for why they do anything. BK Camera's prices are more than reasonable, but more important, the customer service you receive is exceptional. I contacted BK and Calvin got back to me within 20 with all the info I needed to proceed forward with the repair. I went to drop it off and he was highly professional and organized. Stopped in here because I was having difficulty getting a new lens to attach to my daughter's Canon. The proprietor took time to show me exactly how the lens would attach. It sounds simple, but we had struggled for three days to make it work. There was a cap that we could not get off, which he removed in about 5 seconds. Then he took the time to show me the best way to attached the lens and remove it safely without damaging the camera. He could not have been more helpful or friendly. Brought an old FD mount lens in to get repaired. Calvin let me know it would require a new part that isn't made anymore and there wasn't much he could do. Calvin does an amazing job keeping my gear in shape. He has fixed film lenses, DLSR repairs, DLSR lenses for me and cleaned my lenses and sensors for me on many occasions. I recommend BK Camera to all of my Professional and non-Professional Photographer friends. I had a quote on getting my CF car reader pin repaired for $298 which was almost as much as the camera is worth. I am selling it but Calvin fixed it for $40. He also fixed my Metz flash that was stuck on a remote trigger for $20. I love the quality and the price of the work that they do. It is well worth the drive from the city.
