The doctor here will tell everyone it's impossible for you to get pregnant. After I went in and completed my testing and was told it was impossible, I found out he told my sister the same thing years ago and then more people around me said the were told the same. All of these women who were told these went on to have many children and most of them didn't even need any intervention, the got pregnant naturally. I changed to Dr. George Attia at UM who told me to get an ovulation kit and start trying any while he redid my tests. I got pregnant naturally, no intervention, within just a few months. I repeated to my OB what I was told at Conceptions and even she looked puzzled. In afterthought, this place just feels like a scam, trying to make money by lying to you. read more

The nurse was incompetent. She was asking me if I did the lab work required when they had called me themselves to inform me all labs had been resulted. I had to continuously follow up with the nurse to be able to schedule my next appointment and everytime I tried she gave push back that was not correct. She told me my labs hadnt resulted and when I informed her they did she apologized and proceeded to give me that appointment. The other time I got my period and request to do my labs she denied it bc my lab work resulted on day 2 of my menstruation, but I was allowed to test all my labs within the first 3 days of menstruation. She made me wait a whole month due to her incompetency. I couldn't give this any worse of a recommendation to anyone who asks. read more

The worst experience at this facility. We are from the west coast and were considering establishing care here in Florida so went in for a consultation and coincidentally happened to be on day 1 of my cycle so we did an ultrasound too. I wanted a copy of that for my own records and/or to share with my other doctor and they asked me to fill out a release form for me to receive a copy of my own image which was strange plus the 7-10 day turnaround was even more strange. I emailed 3 times over the course of 2 solid weeks to check the status they ignored all of them with absolutely zero response or acknowledgment of my inquiry (3 different people on that email so not just 1 lazy employee), I spoke with a manager asking why they're taking this long and they apologized that it was delayed due to the hurricane (Miami had one day of wind/rain and many businesses ran as usual). Fast forward, I received the image on day 17 which completely changed and impacted my cycle/plans. Considering the field they are in they should have a sense of urgency and understand delaying one test can impact women like it did to me. Absolutely zero stars and would not recommend this facility AT ALL. read more

I unfortunately did not have a good experience with this clinic, which is why I decided not to continue any further. On my initial consult, the doctor saw us 3 HOURS after our appointment time. Not even an, "I'm sorry, the doctor will be with you shortly". Nothing. The consultation felt rushed and his responses were two-word answers. I appreciated all the honesty, but I felt like another number and not personalized at all. I decided to ignore my gut feeling and continued getting blood work done in hopes of receiving better service. Let me add that none of the times I was in that office for blood work, was I seen in less than an hour minimum. I recently made an app at 7:30AM and if it wasn't because I got upset, I didn't get my blood drawn until 8:25AM. They said it was because they were "getting the blood tubes ready since they were a lot". Also, expect to be the one to follow up for at least 2-3 days in a row for any kind of results. I would be on the phone with one person, and have another staff member calling me on the other line. Talk about lack of communication. It's a shame because this clinic is conveniently located, but no woman deserves to go through such difficult time with the added stress this clinic brings. It makes the process that much difficult and extra emotionally draining. TLDR: Doctor gives two-word answers and makes you feel rushed. Staff is more lost than my grandma on a highway. I saw many great reviews from patients with successful IVF experiences, so perhaps the explanation for my horrible experience is that this practice does not care as much about chryopreservation? I began seeing Dr. Karipcin at the Conceptions practice with the intention to do chryopreservation (egg freezing). My experience with her was that she was casual about the whole thing. Even after reviewing my ultrasound blood test results, she did not tell me anything about my specific situation. The staff handling the finances (Jannette, Angie and Anelisa) proved to be incompetent. They told me that everything was covered by my insurance and then proceeded to invoice me the co-pay amounts (which proved to be incorrect and too high). It turns out that my insurance did not cover chryopreservation, and that Conceptions (Jannette) had told me that I was covered without speaking to my insurance company about my specific policy. They had also over-charged me. In the end, I lost 2 months of time, and had to go back and forth with them to get almost $4,000 returned to me. When I made Dr. Karipcin aware of the issues that came up, she said "Please don't involve me in that. I am just the doctor" read more

Dr. Hernandez-Rey, Maggie, and Alex are the best in the field! After two years of trying to conceive on our own with no success, my husband and I decided to see an IVF specialist. We had heard terrific things about Dr. Hernandez-Rey, so we decided to visit him. The minute we walked into his beautiful practice and meeting the nicest people, we knew we were at the right place. After reviewing my charts, He assured us that we would have a baby and was very positive and hopeful, which was something I was lacking after trying for so long. His approach was very professional, sincere, and friendly. He was honest with us about the steps we would have to follow in order to be able to conceive. We appreciated that very much. He did not suggest IVF off the bat which we also liked. One month after our initial visit I had a laparoscopic surgery done to correct what was wrong with my reproductive system; tubal disease in the left tube and a fibroid. Dr. Hernandez-Reyes and his office has been beyond amazing to us. We lost faith in the IVF process before we got to Conceptions of Florida. Long story short we did one round of IVF at another specialist office in Miami and it didn't go well. We had 15 eggs, we did genetic testing and ended up with 4 eggs remaining, two vital eggs that were transferred. 1 did not take right away and 1 ended in a biochemical miscarriage. The whole experience was traumatizing and horrific. So when meeting with Dr. Hernandez-Reyes it was very emotional, but I connected with him right away and felt as if he had our best interest at heart. He was very welcoming, reassuring, open and made me feel like he will make us parents one day. He made us felt as if it was not about business or work for him but he showed us that IVF was a passion of his. This review is long overdue. Conceptions Florida isn't just a fertility clinic, it's a village. From the moment you meet Dr Hernandez-Rey your faith will be restored. Going though the IVF process is one of the most emotionally, physically and financially draining events in ones life, so it's important to have people that are up to date with state-of-the-art equipment, knowledge, science and also heart. I started my IVF process at the Coral Gables location and dealt with the most patient nurses ever, Alex and Anay, I did also have brief but pleasant dealing with Maggie, Brittany and Ashley. Don't get me started on the embryologist Mike, he knows how to connect with you, explain your eggs once retrieved, and breaks down the most complex science into plain English. This is the example of greatness in the medical field and in any field. I wish all doctors, professionals and practices worked like these folks do. They have one office in Miramar and one in Coral Gables. The Coral Gables office is very easy to access, the waiting area and rooms are very clean and spacious. The front desk staff are very friendly and welcoming. Dr Hernandez and Dr Bauer are great! The nursing staff are angels dressed in scrubs. They are all extremely approachable, answer all questions in detail, with excellence and patience. The nurses are your support in each step of the way through any of the fertility options you choose. Please know that they are not always immediately available by phone because they are working face to face to provide the needed attention for each patient. However, you can email them and they will ALWAYS answer and give you all the information you need. Dr Hernandez and Dr Bauer take their time with each patient and tailor a plan based on each patient's individual needs. Conceptions Florida first IVF percentage cycle success rate is very high which is something to consider when seeking an infertility specialist. They plan every single step and possible outcome and they don't miss a thing! I did most of my treatment with Doctor Hernandez and he is a blessing! He is easy to talk to, explains everything, dedicates the time with his patients and he overall genuinely cares about his patients. I want to also point out the special angels that were my support, always answered and addressed every email thoroughly and a critical part of this process... My number one shero nurse who was always there through IVF treatment and even after was Chelsea. She was always happy, always present, very attentive, informative, sweet, and extremely detailed which i loved and needed! She is someone who truly cared and who I now call a friend. I also had the pleasure to get treated with other great nurses who were wonderful, always smiling and answered every single email with grace Alex, Jackie, Ashley. The two embryologists who took the time to call very quickly after the egg retrieval and explained everything very well. The anesthesiologist during the egg retrieval she was lovely. Maggie was also very sweet and a great support during the embryo transfer process.  I did IVF with frozen embryo. I recommend to take two days off after egg retrieval to relax and heal. Also, make sure you are constantly using heating pads...they will greatly alleviate any pain or discomfort you may feel after the retrieval. For the embryos I chose to pay extra for the pga testing, the doctor said I didn't have to do it but it helps your chances. Plus, honestly, once you are at the point of having the embryo transferred to your uterus you want to have the peace of mind you did everything possible before hand and not have any doubts or second guess on anything you could have done differently. I also recommend to pay extra for the assisted hatching option if needed. After embryo transfer try and take at least 3 days off work and lay low, no cooking, cleaning or bending much and no lifting until at least your blood test and afterwards try to continue taking it easy until the first two ultrasounds. I got pregnant in the first IVF cycle and although it's been emotionally tough with what's going on in the world it gives me so much more hope and joy knowing that I am happily expecting the little one. For medication options I selected South miami pharmacy who are great! They have free delivery option so you don't have to physically go in person for pickup and you get it delivered by the next day usually. Infertility is emotionally, physically and mentally stressful to say the least and going through IVF can be tough, even more so during these difficult times. But, with Conceptions Florida the doctor and medical staff will alleviate that stress while being the medical and emotional support you will need until you get your dream come true.. read more

My experience was SUPERB!!!!, I was a patient of Dr. Sinem Karipcin, ( Dr. Hernandez partner), she did a very thorough medical history, which led a the perfect treatment and medication for my condition ( PCOS). Dr Karipcin is very nice and soft spoken, she explained everything in detail, and timed my insemination perfectly. I was referred to Conceptions of South Florida and Dr. Hernandez-Rey by my GYN. Knowing that Dr. Hernandez-Rey is considered one of the leading specialists dealing with endometriosis, it gave me both hope and comfort knowing I would be under his care. Let's just say from my initial interaction with the receptionist, all my confidence was washed right down the drain. To me I feel like the person who answers the phone for ANY business is the face of that business and if you have a young lady who is either bored, preoccupied with her cell phone or hates her job, answering your phone, there' s a real problem. It was like pulling teeth making my first appointment. Cut to - My first visit to the office. It seemed to be going smoothly until a few minutes after Dr. Hernandez-Rey entered the room and stated: "he never met a cervix he hasn't been able to get up or into". Still not sure if he noticed my mouth hit the floor when I heard that. Woman's intuition is to listen to your gut... but I figured since he's a specialist and I grew up in a household with a medical specialist, I'd allow his ego to stay in the room with us as long as I was properly cared for. My second visit... this was fun. I waited in the lobby for 3 and 1/2 hours, yes you read that correctly, 3 and 1/2 hours to have a pretty scary test done. You'd think that when your doctor asks you to prepare by taking pain medication, leaving you feeling little out of it, and knowing that the patient is probably really nervous about what's about to happen, you'd keep their feelings in mind, but no. After asking the receptionist twice to find out what was going on, a lovely doctor named Dr. Bauer came out to apologize and admitted that 1. Dr. Hernandez-Rey was out of town and my appointment was scheduled with the wrong doctor (even with a note in my charts stating that due to my medical history only he could perform any tests on me) and 2. The woman before me passed out and they were dealing with an emergency. Would I mind coming back another day for testing? My third visit. Finally, I'm to have the first of two procedures done. But this time since Dr. Hernandez-Rey is fully booked with other patients, the front office staff schedules me with another doctor and was to have Dr. Hernandez-Rey interrupt the patient's appointment he was in at the time of my appointment to come into my room to perform my procedure. Now that doesn't sound very professional, does it? Dr. Hernandez-Rey mentions as he's preparing me for my test that if I experience any pain, he will stop what he's doing immediately and asks me twice to make sure I understand that. Well, let's just say that a scream and at least three "stops" didn't stop Dr. Hernandez-Rey from stopping the procedure. His response to me was "if you can just hang in there, I'm where I need to be and I can get this done". Needless to say, he got it done, even though it was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. Left like a deer in headlights to "clean up" after the procedure, it was more than unnerving to stand up to a pool of blood running down my legs and the back of the shirt I was wearing covered in my own blood. Perhaps if that's a normal occurrence, I should have been warned ahead of time. After the procedure, I was told I needed to have an MRI and blood tests. The trick was that the blood tests were to be taken within three days of the first day of my period. I was told I could come into Conceptions of South Florida's office to have my blood drawn and sent to Quest because getting an appointment at Quest would be too difficult in that short of time. Month one trying to have my blood drawn - I'm told I can't go into their office that I have to go to Quest. I miss the time-sensitive threshold because there are no appointments in Dade-County at Quest on a Friday or Saturday. Month two trying to have my blood drawn after clarification that I was indeed told the incorrect information the month before and I was to come into their office to have my blood taken. I get my period, make the call. Leave a voice mail and again I'm told to go to Quest and again there are no appointments available. My MRI. I had my MRI and was told my results would be sent to Dr. Hernandez Rey within 5 business days. As I anticipated I never heard from his office regarding my results or to make a follow-up appointment. When I called Juana, one of the Medical Assistant's, I was told they hadn't received the CD or the report. That made no sense to me because A. I had both the CD and report in my hand and B. the imaging center confirmed twice that they had sent my test results to Dr. Hernandez-Rey. Get it together people. How does a reputable doctors office succeed this way? I can guarantee you wouldn't treat me this way if I were paying for fertility help! read more

First off, do your research, Yelp is not the greatest place to judge weather a Dr is good enough for you to go to.. This is not a restaurant, its a medical center.. I had the best experience at Conceptions Florida, and with Dr. Hernandez-Rey. Fertility is a very emotional subject and its easy to get upset and discouraged.. The entire staff is awesome... clear instructions are always posted to the patient portal after every visit... you may have to wait a bit, but its never too long... The financial department is always very clear about what the patients responsibilities are.. I am happy and would recommend Dr. Hernandez-Rey to every woman who is challenged with fertility issues. read more

I am not satisfied at all with how Dr. Karipcin treated me, second they charged me for step they never took, for type of examination I have never had, ever in my life, neither there nor on other place. I payed the same day for whatever they asked me to pay, and now, after a year, I started receiving bills to pay for some extra charges, plus the exam which they didn't make. Just from this experience I have had, I would never go there again and if I could I would have selected 0 stars in this review. I was referred to Conceptions Florida by my OBGYN. As you can imagine I was desperate to get support for my husband and I as we were unsuccessful getting pregnant on our own. I waited for months get an appointment, and when I finally did, I was happy with my care. We took a series of tests, had tons of labs done, and received the news that we would need IVF using a donor egg. We were devastated. The doctor was honest and tactful with us, and while it was hard, we felt supported. We dove into the process, made every appointment, took ever shot, followed all the directions, and unfortunately our procedure was unsuccessful. That is when things got bad. Whenever we discussed other potential options the doctor talked us out of them, even told us horrible adoption stories about patients who were lied to and got babies addicted to drugs. Our final appointments were uncomfortable, because we wanted to preserve any fertility we had, but we wanted time to look into other options. All of a sudden, I stopped getting answers to my questions, and I couldn't get anyone to return my calls. I had one last procedure to ensure that if we decided to try again, my uterus was as healthy as possible. I covered the cost until my insurance could pay the doctor. For two months I sent emails to request my refund. When I finally got word that it would be given back to me, I waited three weeks for the check that never came. I called about ten times, before Janette told me "we have had problems with our mailbox." I forced her to write me a new check and fedex to me (I had since moved out of the state). She finally agreed, but I got a call about an hour later that the doctor left before the check could be signed, so they would simply refund my account. I have no idea why that wasn't done in the first place. Overall the doctors are kind, and likely good at what they do. Unfortunately the office is run very poorly and you will not get the support you need. It makes a difficult situation even worse. Good luck ladies. read more

Dr Hernandez-Rey and his staff are the best of the best! Words cannot express my gratitude towards them! From the first moment I spoke with Dr Hernandez-Rey I new he was going to be the best! He gives the best care, the best explanations, the best knowledge, the best facilities and the best results!!!!! He is kind, compassionate and gives the utmost attention to detail! The ivf nurses Brittany and Anay are also the best of the best! They are beyond caring, beyond patient and beyond knowledgeable! Like I said simply the BEST!!!! read more
